This is one of those stories that is so powerfully simple and yet so complex at the same time. Those two quotes are an example of the wisdom penned between the covers.
I hope this becomes (is part of) a series. There are so many characters that I want to know more about.
I could go on and on about this book but I wouldn’t be doing it justice. It is a book that I would recommend to anyone that likes a clean story that has a purpose. The purpose is forgiveness of self.

MaddJax Series, Boxed Series Set, Book One & Book Two: A Second Chance Stepbrother/co-CEO Romance by Deborah Ann is a contemporary romance. This boxed set is a fully engulfed read that will take you in depth into a complicated relationship into what some may tag as taboo or illicit. It may be to some, but this story is deep and complicated, while touching and ingenious in its delivery. In the process of reading this story, the author takes the reader on an incredible journey along with Maddison and Jaxon – learning the past and how it’s impacted the present, along with where do these individuals go moving forward noting they are so inexplicable tied together in multiple ways. A great read that I recommend to others.

Say Something is a story by Jennifer L. Allen that touches upon many of the topics that we as mature readers feel drawn to – second chances, infertility, divorce …. It seems to be a standalone though I hope that the writer decides to give the other sibling their stories as well, fingers crossed! Say Something is the story of Jessica and Danny, childhood sweethearts that have their marriage ripped apart due to infertility. They are both very likable. I liked how Jessica took responsibility for behaviour though at times I was a bit bothered by her self-pity … we don’t know though how we would feel in her shoes. On the journey with Jess and Danny it is so easy to see how problems a couple faces effect also their loved ones, even when they try to protect them and never ever intended it to happen. It was great how the story felt so real thanks to those uncomfortable conversations that needed to happen for those two to more forward … towards their second chance …

The Immigrant: An Italian in America (The Italian Saga Book 7) by Gaia B Amman was an exciting, original, engaging read that had me hooked form start to finish.
Not my first read from this author on n this series, so when this book came out, I snatched it up in a heartbeat! Detailed and pulling, this book has all the charm of the others in this series. Right away I fall back into the love I have for the MC, the quirkiness, the sass, the bluntness, and just the way the MC present herself, is outstandingly amazing. I love the look into what it was like to move to another county, and another culture, and see it through the MC’s eyes, and what she went through. It in itself was an eye opener, and I got to really see how strong she was. The ups, downs, the new connections and the job, I couldn’t get enough of this book. If you haven’t read the other books, no worries, there is enough in here, in regards to background that you won’t feel too lost, and as there is a new setting, and side characters, you don’t feel like you’re missing much. But I do I do suggest reading the other books, as they are amazing and just as intriguing.
Overall this book is truly a one of a kind read, that gets my super high recommendation, and my stamp of approval.

Where do I begin with this book? This story touches on a subject that is very sensitive and not talked about much, until more recent times. It was written beautifully, and made me feel just like the main character, even though I’ve never personally been through this. Im talking infertility. Marriage is hard work already and adding this on top of it, puts its strains on it. These two just never had the reason to know how to face a tough battle until this. I love second chance romance and this has bumped to my top list. This is a must read!

This is the first book I have read from this author and she has a new fan. I absolutely love second chance romance but this talented author exceeded all my expectations. This story is a stand alone that will make you want more. I was hooked on this storyline right from the beginning. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.
Jessie and Danny were high school sweetheart and then they got married. They thought they had their happy ever after. They had some very hard times and they got a divorced. Now Jessie is back where it all began. She is now living in her hometown to start her new life. Jessie is shocked to find out that Danny is also living there as well. She doesn’t know what to do. All she knows is that she still needs him. Can Jessie and Danny find love again or will it be shattered once and for all?
I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, devastation, healing, and forgiveness. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Jessie is a strong woman that had some dark times in her life. She is trying to heal so she can move on. Danny is very charming and he knows what he wants. He wants the love of his life back. The way he treats Jessie will make your heart melt. This author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Perfectly Played is such a great read. If you are looking for a fun light hearted book to read this book is the one for you. In this book you have Flora who is a flower shop owner who decides as she is walking down the aisle in Vegas that she does not want to marry Tom who is her long term boyfriend. As she bolts from the chapel she literally runs into Dean who is an ex baseball player who is there to marry his long term girlfriend Evelyn. Little did they know that chance meeting would change both of their lives. As Dean is prepared to walk down the aisle he receives news that his girlfriend has changed her mind about the wedding and is not coming. Later that night while wanting to drink and forget about their rough day both Dean and Flora meet again. One night, one big misunderstanding the next day leads to time apart. What happens when they meet again. Can these two make it work? I really enjoyed this book

The Immigrant: An Italian in America by Gaia B. Amman is the seventh book in the Italian Saga, book 1 in the new spin off series. This is a series that follows the same character throughout her life. While I would recommend reading this series in order so you get the full character development it isn’t required – I haven’t read them in order and have enjoyed the ones I’ve read so far. This book was a great addition. Leda is a fascinating character to get to know, especially in this book with the complete change of scenery. The author wrote the story perfectly. It really felt like you were there with Leda for her whole journey. You got to experience everything as she did. I am looking forward to see what else this new chapter has to offer.

Secure Again by R.L. Dunn is a book that is part of the Chase Group series. The book is interesting and full of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book. I always enjoy it when the characters have history like the two MC’s in this book. The author really handled that side of it well. I felt the connection between them instantly and thought that it was completely believable. I found the book to be gripping as well. It was complex without being over complicated and was enough to keep my guessing all the way through. Well written and great characters this book is definitely one to read.

This is the first book in a new series, I loved it. I love how this author is able to pull me into the story right from the start. The characters are realistic, they pop off the pages and made the story real. Alex has never forgotten the one woman he fell in love with and never forgot. What will happen when he is sent to protect her? Their story is full of action, romance and maybe fate might give them a second chance. They kept me sitting on the edge of my seat, their story is a must read.

Trickster’s Hunt is the first book in Carrie Whitethorne’s Three Tricksters series. It is an urban fantasy, which draws on Egyptian mythology. Maia is a loveable and relatable main character. Earning her living as an eating competition contestant, Maia is always eating and on the lookout for food. I particularly like how the genies end up regularly providing her with meals and snacks! There are parts of the book where there is plenty of action, and others that are more drawn out dialogue as the characters explain and discuss what is going on. Occasionally, the same scene is told twice from different perspectives, which was interesting once I’d gotten over the initial confusion! It was nice reading something set in the UK – some of the scenes where Maia was out and about in London felt particularly vivid and familiar! I was reading more for the fantasy than the romance, but it’s interesting how the romance was tied up in the magical side of things. For me, this is a four-star book. I’d recommend it to fans of urban fantasy – the Egyptian influences add a bit of interest and it would particularly appeal if you like genies! Also, there’s plenty of food which gets a lot of attention. I have to say, I spent most of the time I was reading this snacking!

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to the end. The story is creative, well written and had me sitting on the edge of my seat a couple of times. The characters made the story come to life and engaging. Madeline thought she had it all until one night when it all fell apart. She finds herself in a world of blackmail and deceit. What will happen when she realizes who is behind this whole mess and is there a cost? I highly recommend this book.

It had me turning pages and on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It has action, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Alex Martinez and Evelyn Garcia. They had been best friends, soul mates. Even though she disappeared he never forgot about her. She has become the assassin Siren. When he comes face to face with her again, he doesn’t want anything to do with her. What will happen when Alex gets a contract to kill Siren? Read this book to find out. Siren is a woman who is strong, independent, and lethal. Alex is a man who loves his job and has those he calls his brothers and friends. Will Alex save Siren or follow orders? The story is fast-paced. Once I started, I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I got lost in the storyline and in the interactions between the characters. The story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with Alex and Siren experiencing what they did. Spouse Trap: A Madeline Dawkins Mystery (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 1) by Cynthia Hamilton. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I loved it! It was a very suspenseful read. Its the story of Madeline Ridley who has the life we all dream of. Fancy house, successful rich husband, a top lady in Santa Barbara Society and anything else money can buy. Madeline works as and Event Planner for high society events and during one of these events her whole world turns upside down. She ends up waking up in a strangers bed, naked with a horrible headache and no memory of the night before. The next day her husband comes in with pictures of her infidelity and kicks her out. The only clause in their pre nup is infidelity. She drives to his office the next morning wanting to make up but walks in on the worst scene she could imagine. She then hires a Private Detective Burt and is about to get to the bottom of the whole weird mess. Will Madeline survive getting the answers she is searching for or will it cost her, her life? I cannot believe that the final book in this series is finally here! I almost didn’t want to read because I have been on such an amazing journey with these characters that I didn’t want it to end but the author absolutely did an amazing job with this final book and it is probably my favourite form the series! It was everything I expected and more! I have been on a worldwide adventure with this author and her characters without even leaving my house! Her writing is truly outstanding – every sound, smell, place of interest is described in such detail that I really do feel like I have experienced some of these places for real. Beautiful stories with amazing characters! I loved that even after book 6 the author still surprised me with what happened! Soren really came into his own in this story and it reminded me why I loved him so much in previous books! I think that it is really important that these books are read in order and I don’t think readers would be disappointed at all! I have absolutely loved this series and I would recommend it in a heartbeat! This series may be over but I cannot wait to see what there might be to come from this author in the future!

I really enjoyed this story! I thought that it was a well written and easy to read story that kept my attention from beginning to end. I liked that the author told the story in the 1st person and used multiple points of view – I always find that makes me feel much more engaged with the characters and it helps to know what they are both thinking at times! The characters Flora and Dean were both lovely characters and it they were really refreshing to read about. They had a great chemistry and it seemed really genuine. There was a quite a bit of drama between the two of them and a lot of miscommunication but I enjoyed that about the story, I found myself invested in their story and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through! Overall a good read that I would highly recommend!

Perfectly Played is an awesome contemporary romance novel by Holly Kerr. It’s the first time I have read any of this author’s work and I’ll certainly be reading more if Perfectly Played is anything to go by. Flora is partway down the aisle when she realises that she really doesn’t want to say ‘I do’ so she turns foot and legs it out of the church colliding with hot, bearded 6ft 5inches of Dean who is waiting at the church for his bride to arrive, only to get a text to say she’s not coming. When Flora and her bridesmaids M.K. and Ruthie bump into Dean and best man Clay later, the fun and games begin. While Clay and M.K. are smitten with each other, Dean and Flora hit it off and end up in a steamy one night stand. When Dean leaves in the morning he leaves Flora a note in the hope that they will stay in touch. A note that Flora doesn’t find. Both Flora and Dean can’t stop thinking about each other, Dean is hurt that Flora didn’t call, Flora is hurt that Dean left and never so much as left a note. Little do Dean and Flora know that they live close to each other and fate has a way of stepping in. I loved Dean and Flora’s story. Both are worried that the other is still in love with their former partners (well they did meet on what should have been both their wedding days). But they just can’t stop thinking of each other and how much they like each other than they did their former partners, both of whom had definitely not been right for them. Dean and Flora are perfect for each other but will they allow themselves to move on with each other so soon after ending their previous relationships?

Trickster’s Hunt (Three Tricksters Book 1) by Carrie Whitethorne 4 Stars
This is a story about an average girl named Maia who finds out that she’s not so average. She often gets gut reactions to people never realizing that these reactions are saving her life. After going to London for a competition, she meets three Djinn who swear to protect her. It seems crazy but after an attempt on her life, she has no choice to believe.
This book is a mixture of fantasy, Egyptian mythology and reverse harem. Although it’s not full blown reverse harem, I think the series will eventually end up there. Maia is highly attracted to all three Djinn. Who wouldn’t be, they are gorgeous. I had never read a book about Djinn and that’s what made me pick up the book in the first place. I enjoyed the addition of Egyptian mythology. Usually you find books about the Greeks so this was a refreshing change. I had never heard of the god that made an appearance in this book and I admit that I had to google him. Usually authors include the popular gods in their stories. It was good that Ms. Whitethorne included a lesser known deity because I learned something by reading her book.
In the beginning I was a little confused between each Djinn as they were talking but it improved as the book progressed. I also think the lead up was a little long seeing as the threat to Maia only appeared towards the end of the book. Seeing as this is book one in the series, I feel I have to warn you that it ends in a cliffhanger. I’m still giving this book four stars because the story was unique and interesting to read. I believe this series has potential to be really good. I’m looking forward to reading part two.

Edge of the Storm is Book two in the Silent Secrets series by Lisette Kristensen. This thrilling read had me turning pages to find out what would happen next. I will say in order to follow the storyline completely you need to read the first book in the series. I seriously could read more about Blackbird and Halo and never get bored. They are both strong and well written characters. This is a fast and easy read that makes me want more books in this series. I give this book five stars and patiently awaiting more books in this series, this author is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!

Say Something by Jennifer L. Allen is a phenomenal second chance romance read. This isn’t my first book by this author, but it certainly was my favourite, which is saying something since I loved her book titled Change of Heart. From the very first chapter I was hooked, the incredible detail and emotional history of the characters had me feeling so invested, and the flow of the story was seamless.
I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading, I just had to know how it was all going to play out. Jennifer L. Allen is an incredibly talented author whose stories always have me hoping and praying for a happy ending, and she never disappoints.
I would absolutely recommend her books to anyone looking for their next romance read!

Perfectly Played by Holly Kerr is a fantastic romance read! This story is full of details, emotional moments and relatable characters. I ended up reading this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. I felt so invested in Dean and Flora’s relationship and I just had to know how everything was all going to play out.
Perfectly Played is my first book by Holly but it certainly won’t be my last! Her writing style and the flow of the story was perfection! I can’t wait to dive into my next book by this phenomenal author.
I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read!

Fictional-ish: A Friends to Lovers Romance by Natalina Reis

Love a good friends to lovers romance and this one was a bit different as it spanned many miles and much time apart and hurdles that made this story unique.
Scotland has always been somewhere I want to visit someday and this book took me there and made me feel as if I was there. Livie moved there to open a new bookstore and she had everything, well almost everything..She left her best friend who in her mind betrayed her beyond repair and as she tried to build a new life Kyle and the hurt he caused her was never far from her mind.
I loved this story, every part of it..I even loved to despise Mia and cant help it but I fell head over heels for Cal and cant help but hope that just maybe this author will let this story continue and let Cal and even Jenny have their own stories.
This is not my first book by this author and absolutely will not be my last. I love the way her words flow and grab a hold and not let go till the very last page.
I highly recommend this story and really anything by this author.

I really liked this story. Its a story about how fate plays games with us and brings the love of our life to us when we least expect it.
Flora is in vegas to marry Thomas, however at the last minute she gets cold feet. At the same time Dean waits at the same place to marry the love of his life only to have his happiness ruined when she messages and says she isnt coming.
A chance meeting in a bar bring Flora and Dean together and its a whirlwind journey full of ups and downs before they finally realise they were made for each other

Say Something by Jennifer L. Allen is a beautiful and yet sad story that brings about emotions and feelings that left me sobbing. It is a story about infertility and what one woman went through at some dark times in her life and how she lived through it. My heart bled for those who suffer and it hit home with memories of what my youngest and my daughter-in-law went through. Jennifer’s writing his heartfelt and the story is well written and I loved the characters and wanted to engulf them in hugs and love.
Jessica has just returned to her home town to rebuild her life. The life she has left behind is nothing but bad memories and loss. What she did not expect is the one person she would always love but she needed to learn to re-love herself.
This beautiful story should not be missed. You will definitely need tissues and a good strong drink but it is so worth it. I am hoping that we get to see the rest of the characters with their own stories.

MaddJax Series, Boxes Series Set Book One and Two by Deborah Ann is a second chance romance series.
I really enjoyed that both books were put into a box set so that as soon as I finished book one I could start book two without waiting. These books are full of steamy passion and so much emotion you almost can’t handle it. These books have a little of everything and I am so glad I was able to read them in a box set. I would not have been able to wait to see the outcome of Madison and Jax’s story. There is a lot they have to overcome, will they be able to do it?

Though I was always an ardent reader, I was convinced I couldn’t string sentences together if my life depended on it. Fortunately for me, when I was looking for something creative I could do from bed—if my mystery illness progressed to that point—I decided to try my hand at it. No pressure, no expectations. Though the pain was almost unendurable, I clung to my writing like a life preserver. It allowed me to crawl up inside my head, out of my body, giving me brief respites from the vast array of pains.
Though I would never wish this disease on anyone, I can honestly say I am grateful for the path my life took, for it gave me the gift of writing. I now have nine published books, all of which have special significance for me. I write general fiction, mysteries and some nonfiction.
Once Upon a Lyme: The Tale of Two Journeys, is the detailed account of the path my mystery illness led me down as I sought help from over two-dozen doctors, and the gift of writing that was the unexpected upside of being so hopeless ill.
Finding Ruth was inspired by a previously unseen photograph of my mother when she was nineteen. I found it as I was going through her things prior to her move into a skilled nursing hospital. That gorgeous photograph of her looking so happy and full of promise made me realize how little I knew about her life before I came along. Because Alzheimer’s has taken away all her memories, I painstakingly reconstructed her life from public records, thousands of photographs, and what my brother, sister and I could remember. The message in the tribute to my mom is Ask while you have the chance.
As of this writing, I have just completed the fourth book in the Madeline Dawkins mystery series. I’m still in love with writing and I still squeal with joy to think that I’ve written eleven books and self-published nine of them. If there is a message in this, it’s Never discount what you are capable of achieving.

I was intrigued by the synopsis and am so glad I picked this book up. It sounded like one I would enjoy and I was right. It wasn’t predictable at all. Our female lead, Maia, was such a fun character. She felt very tangible and relatable. And the three djinn… well, they just made everything even more interesting. Overall this book was even more enjoyable than I expected and just a fun diversion. I cannot wait to pick up the rest of the series and see what happens next.
