Wow. This book had me white knuckled. Romance plus suspense plus a brooding dark dramatic plot… literally couldn’t catch my breath in the best possible way. Sand is a masterful storyteller and this book is just another installment that solidifies this opinion.

Hawke (Men of Syn Book 1) by Anise Storm is a dark and intriguing erotic romance story that is set around a BDSM club, SYN. This sexy and thrilling read is well written and Anise’s descriptive writing makes it easy to image this dark and enticing world and what the characters have been through to make them what they are today. There is also a murderer on the loose and anyone could be his next victim.
The very mysterious Hawke is as arrogant and magnetic as he is broken. The life he was made to live make him the closed off and cold hearted man he is today. My heart literally broke for this beautiful monster of a man who had never known love, only ever abuse. Can he battle his demons before it is too late to save the one he loves?
Charlotte is a smart and independent business woman who is sassy and fierce and knows what she wants. When she learns the man who is going to be her employer for an event is the same man who literally left her hanging makes for a steamy, sizzling and heartbreaking time.
If you enjoy a little titillating, erotic read with a little darkness then this is for you. I cannot wait for more Men of Syn.

What can I say about MC books? I really enjoy reading them. The characters can never be the same. The brotherhood and sense of family. Those are the things I really look for. That and hot guys. The author did really well with the flow of the story. It was smooth and readable.

Lies Come True (The Avery Hart Trilogy Book 1) By Emerald O’Brien. This book definitely kept me on my toes with its twists and turns. It’s well written and and honestly I found myself forgetting I was reading a book. I love a book that has a storyline that keeps me on the edge of my seat with trying to figure everything out. The author created a world of mystery, suspense and wondering, with characters that are complex and relatable. I’m excited to read more not only from this Trilogy but from this author. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend it.

Hate to Love You (Baker’s Bunch Book 1) by Lily Ryan is a contemporary young adult romance story. It is well written and engaging and enjoyable characters. It is about forbidden fruit that can no longer be denied and along with that the normal emotional ride.
Sam has grown up with feelings for her brothers best friend and now she can no longer deny it. But does he want her? Will one night make or break them?
Cole had noticed that his best friends sister is no longer a little girl but she is off limits, he has made that very clear. Does she feel the same? Will secrets and lies destroy everything they hold dear?

Abandoned by Love: Book 1 in the Shattered Hearts Duet by Aleya Michelle
Well this book was like nothing i’ve read before. It does say whether its past or present, and it does help set the timeline for all the events happening.
While not giving anything away, I will say I sympathized with both characters, one made the decision that was thought best for the situation, and the other while blindsided, eventually was able to continue on.
My only complaint, was the ending! How could you DO that and leave me hanging?! Can’t wait for the next one.

Ten years have passed since the loss of Demon’s best friend. He made a promise and he failed.
Now he is giving a chance to make things right. His best friend’s sister is now back in tow with a baby and need help.
As far as Violet is concerned, Demon only thinks of her as a sister and is only helping her because of the promise he made to her brother. But could there more than meets the eye with Demon?
I really enjoyed this novel and characters. I usually don’t read novel with the female protagonist already having a baby, it was refreshing to see them become a family in their way and come together.
While I haven’t read the main series, this makes me want to and it’s definitely on my list of series to read.
For anyone looking for a second chance romance with a lot of Alpha, then this is the book for you.

This is another exciting book in the Wheel of Crowns series. This story revolves around Charlie and her powers. Charlie’s parents died in an accident and it was her brother who took on the responsibility of raising her. Knowing it was hard on her brother, Charlie didn’t want to burden him when her powers started manifesting. She doesn’t believe in the supernatural so she just thought there was something wrong with her.
Two hot guys show up in town. One wanting to help her and one needing her help. She decides to trust her gut and drag her best friend Tandi along for the ride. With evil warlocks and the Prince of Hell after her, Charlie will need to learn how to use her powers fast.
There is so much action in this book that I couldn’t put it down. The romance between Charlie and her soulmate was nice. There was an immediate attraction but with the slow buildup leading to them being together added another layer to the story. Charlie is one powerful witch because when she learned to control her powers, she kicked ass. She is a strong female lead which I love. Her time in Hell proves it yet again. I enjoyed the reappearance of certain characters from the first book. There were some surprises that the author threw in that will shock you. I loved this book and can’t wait to read book three about Tandi.

She’s beautiful, vivacious and innocent. He’s obsessed with her but knows he’ll break her therefore he needs to push her away to protect her. No matter how much Hawke fights, the two are fated. Danger is lurking in Denver and has targeted Charlotte. Can the two survive Hawke’s past and the evil of the present?
There are scenes in this book that are graphic and may be a trigger for some people. This book is not for everyone. No child should have to endure what Hawke did. My heart broke for him. It fully explains why he is the way he is. This was an intense, dark story.

I hope that the literary world embraces change faster than the human world and soon we will no longer have to categorize ANY story as L B G T or Q. Love is love is love is love (and hate is hate). If everyone could just embrace others as being flesh and blood, wouldn’t the world be better for it?
Anyway…
I love when a story has a soundtrack that accompanies it. REWIND has a couple of “playlists” of sorts. You can click a link to learn how to pronounce character’s names (always handy). You can click a link to find the recipes that are featured in the story. There are a few others also – worth the time to explore.
On to my review of the actual story. This is a book that is told in dual points of view flashing between past and present. It’s a tale that has drama and tragedy and second chances and love. This is a story that I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall a few times because I was super frustrated with certain aspects. Overall, this is a story I enjoyed and I intend to continue the series.
“Why did people always think that me being queer meant they could ask all kinds of weird shit about my sex life?” WHY INDEED!!
The story flowed pretty well, the characters are developed and the overall story seemed to follow plot points. There is a super strong undertone of homo-phobia and lack of compassion in the story and it made me feel bad for the characters. Their choices in friends and dates leave much to be desired. (Did I mention I wanted to hurl my Kindle a few times?).
I look forward to reading book 2 in the series.

Abandoned by Love (Shattered Hearts Duet #1) by Aleya Michelle was a great read from beginning to end. I have read one or two books by this author before and I absolutely loved them. This was no different. I was feeling sad and heartbroken reading parts of this book but it was well worth it. Jaxon Mayer and Emily Saunders were the “IT” couple.
Jaxon knew when he spotted Emily that first time that he was in love. He was a jock but he was a sweetheart. He always put Emily first. Emily was in gymnastics and she was amazing. They had everything going for them. Then one night a car accident changed it all. Emily disappeared with no explanation. Jaxon was heartbroken and on a downward spiral. No one has heard from Emily in months and Jaxon starts to wonder if Emily cared for him as much as he cared for her or if it was all a game. When Jaxon and Emily finally come face to face, the secrets are exposed. Can Jaxon forgive Emily? Will they be able to rekindle what they had? I loved this book about young love and possibly a second chance.

We need to remember that Jaxon and Emily are young, very young and it is the first test that the life is throwing at them and the Shattered Hearts duet is their journey. I am looking forward to finding how where their journey will take them to!
Broken Pieces by Judith B. Pinkard

Broken Pieces by Judith Pinkard was a beautiful and raw story. When I saw the cover I knew I had to pick up this book, but I wasn’t prepared for what I was about to read. This is a biographical book not about tragedy but about the perseverance of a young woman as the course of her whole life is changed by one moment in life at 3 months old. The story felt like I was sitting with a life long friend conversating. It was smooth and real. The story brought me to tears but at the same time made me feel strong. As a woman who has endured much in her life I could relate to this story, it reminded me that we are never alone, that there is always someone who has felt what we felt. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down. My favorite quote in the book summed it all up for me “It’s like this. God has a blackboard, some chalk, and an eraser. Everything you say, think, or do that is bad, God writes it on the blackboard. But if you’re sorry for those things written on the blackboard, and you tell God that you’re sorry and that you’ll try not to do it again, then He’ll erase it. Spar by Randi Perrin is the story of Chloe Darue and Locke Headley and is the first book I have ever read by this author. Honestly, when I picked up this story, I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got was a really good story about two individuals broken by people who should have been all about support and love. There were parts that weren’t easy to read but the characters of Chloe and Locke made it worth pushing through. I highly recommend this book and I know I will be looking into reading more from this new to me author.

Crystal’s handsome sons Hunter and Joshua both set their eyes on her and she is left wondering should she take her chance with the steady younger brother who has become a good friend to her, or the mysterious aloof older brother who makes her heart race on first sight.
I liked this book and it took me on a real rollercoaster. I felt for the lead character Alabama from the first page and she was a really likeable character. The writer took us on a lovely journey as Alabama discovered herself and how to make friends and create a whole new life outside of the one, she has always known. A fab book and a real escape from reality. Highly recommended.

This started off with the incident of why the abandonment. And I liked that, no guessing on what will happen. I think because of how it started you are hooked from the start. So the plot I enjoyed. It was very heartbreaking reading about their pain and despair. At the same time I did get annoyed with them. More so with him than her. I am not a big fan of going back into the past and then to present, so this happened a lot. I get that many enjoy the going back and seeing how they were. Just not for me. This book does stop in a cliffhanger, and yes I would get the next because I want to know what happens. Now lets just wait for book 2.

Heart of Stone: Book 1 – Emery and Jackson by Chiquita Denny is the first book in the heart of stone series. This is a stand-alone novel as each book in the series follows a different couple.
As a whole this book has great development throughout. The story was well thought through and had a good flow to it. I’m the characters were easy to connect with too. They were relatable and it was easy to create an image of them. I thought they had a great chemistry between them that worked really well.
This was a strong start to this series and I can wait to read about the other couples coming up.
Heels Of Fortune by Lynne Russell

Heels of Fortune by Lynne Russell is the second book in the PJ Santini series. This is a great continuation of the series. PJ is back in fine form. She has gotten information concerning her husband’s death and it is not good for her. The information has put her in danger.
PJ is fantastic character that is easy to relate and fun and feisty. She gets herself in situations but is smart enough to figure out what needs to be done or to get help from PI Tango Daly. I really have enjoyed this series. It moves at a quick pace and is fun and with some suspense. I like the mix of humor and the characters all play a part in the story. I look forward to reading more from Lynne Russell in the future.

Hawke is a wonderfully written romantic suspense with some action and erotic elements. Hawke is opening a BDSM club named Syn and Charolette owns Platinum Dresses which is a planning company .They are trying to get the Grand Opening of Syn planned. What happens when Charolette has a moment of Dejuvu with Hawke? But when she she realizes how she knows him she can’t get the job done fast enough. There is definitely attraction between these two. Can Hawke conquer the Demons from his past? Will he be able to admit his growing attraction or will she be taken away forever? Find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this book. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This is the second book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much as the first. Charlie’s story continues with her sass and humor. I enjoyed how I was pulled into this story from the beginning. I felt as if I was right there in the story with Charlie. What will happen when a Werewolf asks for her help? Will she be able to master her power before it is too late? She is such a strong character and my favorite. I can’t wait for book three, I highly recommend this book.

Abandoned by Love: Book 1 in the Shattered Hearts Duet by Aleya Michelle. This is such an emotional read. I laughed, I cried, I got angry. Its the story of Jaxon Mayer & Emily Saunders who fell in love at a very young age. Jaxon was a good baseball player and Emily was a gymnast. Their whole lives were about each other only, every second they could spend together they did. They didn’t party with friends, they didn’t go out with friends they were always together until one fateful night and they went to a party together. All I’m going to say is a drunk driver was involved and it doesn’t end well. It changes Emily & Jaxon’s future forever. This story goes back and forth between the present , past and future and I loved the way it was written. This is a sweet, heartbreaking story so be prepared to get involved! I loved it.

I loved this book! It is the second book in the Colorado Chapter series, it is just as great as the first. In this one we get to see Demon and Violet’s story. Demon is the son of the former president. He fails to keep a promise, with that comes consequences. Violet is a single mother on the run but has always been in love with Demon. Will they get a second chance at love? They are great characters that bring the story to life and make it feel real. They pulled me right in. A must read!

We get to learn more about Veloura and her life experiences in this book.At times I was very sad for her and others I was happy. Her parents ignored her but others more than made up for it.When she realizes there is much more to life what happens? Read this book to find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this book and The Woman America Loves a Latte. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.

Shortcuts is a different take on the paranormal young adult novel that had me thoroughly entertained from the beginning. I was instantly swept up in these teenagers lives and I couldn’t wait to see how it played out, though I do have some questions about some of the characters. I thought this story showed a different side of the typical teenage angst story in a way that made it seem new and fresh. This story was full of the stuff I love too, it played on the heartstrings a little in a couple of different ways. It reminded me of being a teenager and made me grateful that I survived it as well as I did. I think this story is good for anyone looking to escape the humdrums of life with a little thrill.

Shortcuts by Amy Bearce a four-star read that will take you away. It is a great story for older children as well as having something for adults as well. The fantasy element of the story is well done, I enjoy the genre but its not one of my favourites at the moment but this one sucked me in, and the story kept me hooked. The characters are real, and you will find something in them that you will identify with. If you like your fantasy with a great story, then you will enjoy this one.

Wheel of Crowns is a three book series and The Werewolf Queen is the first book. Brandi Elledge is an amazing author who has a wild and vivid imagination. Her attention to detail is what keeps me wanting more. The characters are so real that I felt like I was best friends with them. Sadie is the main female character and I felt like I knew her like a BFF. Sadie thought she did not have paranormal powers like her friend do. Until she was eighteen and here comes her powers. What will Sadie do with her powers? Who is the Werewolf Queen and what does business does she have with Sadie?

Abandoned by Love by Aleya Michelle is book one of the Shattered Hearts Duet. This book is so powerful and I couldn’t put it down!
Jaxon and Emily have a love like no other until an accident changes everything. Emily doesn’t expect anything from Jaxon but makes a decision for the both of them that changes their lives. Jaxon has no idea how his life ended up this way but he doesn’t want to deal with the pain.
This book was so emotional. I couldn’t put it down even though my feelings were all over the place. I was frustrated in the beginning with Jaxon’s character. I felt he was being a little selfish but had to remind myself that he didn’t have all the information I had. He redeemed himself as did Emily. These characters were great and very relatable. I don’t know what I would have done if I were in their shoes. It was definitely thought provoking without ruining the story. I can’t wait to read book two.

Heels of Fortune is the second book in the PJ Santini series and I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed book 1 in the series but I have to say I thought that this one was even better! I just absolutely love PJ she is such an amazing character to read about! She is full of sass and is so feisty – she gets the job done and she won’t let anyone stand in her way! I loved seeing the characters from the first book back again to help PJ uncover the secrets of her late husband! The pace of the story was great and definitely had me hooked from beginning to end.
Heels of Fortune was a fantastic 5 star read and I am really looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

I loved this story…Kerry, Willow, and Caleb and Dad won my heart pretty quick. I was hooked from page one and even though there was some pretty serious scenes and issues I still found this story quite sweet and completely enjoyable.
This is my first book by this author and I already want to go grab book 1 of this series and also check out what else this author might have available. The story flowed so nicely and I read it in one sitting. I loved how Kerry and Caleb met and what transpired from that first meeting, and then how they continued to meet, thanks to the adorable Willow.
I highly recommend this story and feel like I’ll recommend both in this series when I am done with the first.
