The Debt Collector is an Underground Bad Boys Romance by India Kells. I have read many of her stories and I thought I was ready for what she had in store for us but heck no! She took this one onto a completely different level!
The Debt Collector has so many layers, so much emotion, so much has been taken from the world around us … We have Dr Tessa Freeman who is not your average doctor, she is saving the girls who end up in her ER and have been escaping the slave ring … she does not think of her own life, it is her duty to help them and unfortunately no good deed goes unpunished … so she is taken to ‘work off the debt’ of the girls who are no longer there to ‘work’. She is saved by a mysterious Locke who she had treated when he came to the ER with some knife wounds … What does Locke want in return? How will he have her to ‘work off’ her debt to him?
I promise you will not regret picking up the Debt Collector, you will spend couple of very enjoyable hours with Tessa and Locke and …. Cage … the third party in this triangle/menage a trois … not a dull moment! But is this just a story filled with steamy scenes or is there more than what you see on the surface? Is there future for the three of them together or will someone be left behind? Pick up the copy and find out for yourself! I hope it is just the first in the series …. Is it a series … I am sure we will find out soon!

Beachcomber Gone: Beachcomber Investigations Book 9: a Romantic Detective Series by Stephanie Queen. This is such a fun book. Its the story of P.I. partners Dane & Shana who have decided to finally get married. The story revolves around them going to Shana’s home to meet her family and of course it goes as wrong as it possibly can. Shana’s mom is being used as bait in an old case of Shana’s about police pension fraud. The case gets re-opened because they think someone on the inside was involved. They are working to keep Shana out of jail and to solve the case all in the process of trying to get married. This is a fun contemporary romance with lots of action.

Leaving Jackson Wolf is the first book I have read by P.A. Kane. I would definitely read more, because I really enjoyed this story. It is short, but has so much deep content. It is a coming of age story, but with more intense content. It is the story of Jackson Wolf and James McDougal, two teenage boys who started a friendship over being bullied. During the story, other teens are introduced, and they each seem to bond over their drunk fathers and rough lives. Jackson is biracial and his mom split when he was young, and he is left with an alcoholic, abusive father. James is scrawny and smart, so bullied for being a nerd. They soon become each others shoulder to lean on while they both go through some rough times, including breakups and losses of friendships and family members. Jackson learns to find strength in the strangest of places and what started as a chance, and reluctant encounter, was the change in his life he needed.

This coming of age novel follows a young Jackson Wolf. He has several incidents that allow him to view life differently. He was a great main character and I really enjoyed following his story. It took me a little bit to get into the story but once I did it was hard to put down. Good book!

This is one of those books that I was able to relate to on so many levels, it gave me a pit in my stomach.

I believe this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I love how she threaded the story together. It’s told in a first person narrative with a break in the fourth wall at fantastic times.

The characters in this story are well developed and multi dimensional. Their behavior is age appropriate and they weren’t pigeon holed into traditional stereotypical behavior. Each character is part of the over all story and it never feels like something was added as a word filler.

I was able to read this book cover to cover in one sitting and I will be checking out other books by this author.

For the Love of Laura Beth is the fourth book in Aubrey Wynne’s Chicago Christmas series. It is a great story that takes place in the shadows of Korean war. The writer has taken this era and meticulously brought into life – I can close my eyes and picture the people and places she is describing. You don’t have to read the other stories in the series as this is a standalone story taking place in Midwest (like the other Chicago Christmas stories).
For the Love of Laura Beth is the story of Laura Beth Walters and Joe McCall – they grew up together and Laura Beth fell in love with Joe when she was just 6 years old. It takes a while but Joe notices her and it seems as if they would get their happy future but … first Joe’s mother dies of cancer and then … Korean war comes calling and Laura Beth decides to go against her father’s wishes and marries Joes before he leaves for the war.
The writer gives us such a clear picture of what women’s place was in the 1950ies, what was expected of them and what the consequences might be if they chose different … it also gives us a deeply touching story of a love between a woman and a man and what it takes to overcome family tragedies …
If you yearn for an emotional read about love that can endure anything, then pick up For the Love of Laura Beth!

This book is sizzling hot! The sexual encounters in this story will set you on fire. The chemistry between Locke, Tessa and Gage is incredible. Tessa is a strong, independent woman who manages to get herself in serious trouble. Locke succeeds in saving her but Tessa is now indebted to him and he always collects his debts. Locke is a very complex character. He is very serious and closed off with a touch of OCD. There are reasons for the way that he is. Gage is a monster of a man. He’s a giant sized muscled machine who cage fights for fun. He’s rough and tough but we find out his soft spot. I loved all the characters. Each one was unique and they complimented each other. There was drama and some action and many heated moments. There are scenes that are explicit therefore I would suggest a mature audience but it is so worth it. I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading more about these characters. Hoping the next book centres around Gage.

What a high emotional impact this story had on me. I couldn’t help but cry. The author really knew how to make you feel the words on every page. Laura Beth is a very strong character and I felt like I was walking in her shoes. The amount of faith she had was amazing. She held onto her beliefs and didn’t let fear stop her. Joe was amazing as well. He stood by Laura Beth even when he was exhausted and doing all the work. The amount of love they had for each other was something we all hope for. This story will have you kissing your kids and thanking the Lord for everyday.

The Crazy Yates is a delightful Christmas novella by Kimberly Packard. It is only about 60 pages long but it is filled with magic of what a real family and magic of Christmas is. The writer has packed a full story into those few pages and at no point did I feel that it was a rushed job, we had the beginning, middle and end and it also made us more curious about whatever happened to the mother and whatever will happen to Callie, what her dreams will be and where the life takes her.
I loved the unconditional love that Callie had for her family, how she simply did what had to be done and how she also had lost herself and how she needed to be reminded of what a true family is … Thank you dear writer for giving us a reminder and I did go and call my mother and talked to her for a long time after I had finished the book.

The Debt Collector was one part darkness, one part suspense, ten parts extreme heat! Yowza! I mean, you kind of could guess that from the cover. But basically, there’s Tessa, who gets herself in a sticky situation and has to work something out with Locke, who can be hard to read. Is he good? Can she trust him? Then there’s his friend. Oh and they are all so very friendly. I enjoyed this and appreciated how Tessa didn’t back down when it came to demanding to be treated well.

There was something about Trinity that kept me reading, she has great qualities and really shows us what a great writer that Angela McPherson is.

A Frothy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R Abbott is the forth book in the Christmas Kiss series and is a great feel good story. This book follows the story of Dan and Kat and that one thing can lead to a misunderstanding and may put the relationship on a crash course.

Kat loves all things coffee and when a new coffee shop pops up she is in her elements, it also does not help that the owner is absolutely gorgeous, there is certainly abit of flirting going on and they seem to be into each other.

But when Dan has to rush off, Kat is left wondering where the relationship is going, until Dan asks her to work in the coffee shop. Kat can not resist to work with Dan but she finds it hard to be just friends with him. As she struggles with her feelings for Dan and unexpected person from her past turns up and which way will Kat go?

I love this series, its full of light hearted, romantic loveliness, the story is well written and its a great fast pace. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is a story about the perils of war and life in general. The sweet heartbreaking reality of war and the sweet heartbreaking reality of life. For the Love of Laura Beth is a story about effects of war on the young men and their families in the 1950’s, which is still pretty relevant to today. It’s also about family. Important then. Important now. This is a heartbreaking story about love and loss; hope and survival. This story is too real.

“You’re not the first and won’t be the last to feel forsaken.”

This story involves a twist that wasn’t expected, turning this story from a general heartbreak to an ugly cry heartbreak. But the power of love is there to pull us through.

“I was so afraid of the pain, but I’ll miss all the joy.”

This story was a slow Sunday afternoon type of read and that’s why the twist hits so hard. Great, simple caring characters.

I recommend a tissue box while reading this great story.

This is a wonderful mix of romance and suspense. I really enjoyed getting to know Alexa and Kent, they are wonderful characters even though they are very different. They started out very rocky and have different views on life, but when a stranger is lurking around it starts to change their relationship. The suspense of the stranger and their relationship was so intriguing that I couldn’t put the book down till I found out what happened. The author did an awesome job weaving this story so it felt relatable and gave me the feels I like in a good romance. I highly recommend this book!!

Snatching Dianna by Seelie Kay is the first book in the Feisty Lawyers series and what a book it is. Full of thrilling suspense, intrigue and twists and turn this book will have you on a roller coaster ride with its fast pace writing and well written story.

Dianna Murphy is a law student and one night she vanishes, her room mate is convinced something has happen to her but no-one will listen, so she enlists the help of her Law Professor to help in finding out what really happen to her friend, but her Law professor is not all she seems. Janet MacLachlan was once a secret agent and with help from her husband, the police chief and a merry band of others they decide to find out what really happened.

This book will have you on the end of your seat, although a short novel this does not stop the effectiveness of the full story. With the twists and turn you are taken on a journey with the “team” to uncover what has happened, but has the team over turned just one to many stones and are they ready for what they uncover. If you love the suspense and thrill of a good thriller you will love this book. I can’t wait to read more in this series or more books by this author.

Guilty Pleasures Volume 2 by Joyce McCarthy is a collection of short stories of pleasures, lust and attraction.

This book follows Brad and his fantasies that come through the book, you discover the sexy teacher/student liaison and the steam scenes that unfold, then the older woman scenario and many more.

This is a great light hearted book but delves into the world and brain of a college student with some erotic scenes and descriptions will have you hot under the collar, I would love to see where some of the encounters end up with a longer book but hey we may get that down the line. This is a great quick read if you need to kill time and with the interesting, quick paced stories you will need a cold shower after some of them. This is the first book I have read by this and would like to read more in the future.

A Tangy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R Abbott is the second book in the series and follows the story of Mel and her horrendous mishaps that happen along the way.

Mel is travelling to her parents for Christmas but half way through the journey she is turned about by her mother and she has to go and help her aunt in Spain. Although the trip there is a manic mishaps one after another once she is safely in Spain she is complete lost and does not know which way to go until she meets a handsome stranger who helps her. Once she arrives at her aunt’s place she is unaware of what she has to do to help, she thought she was walking into a lovely relaxing beach vacation to be thrust into the world of animals.

As the story progress you get to see the relationship blossoms between the two characters and the great way the story weaves is great to read. This is not the first story I have read by this author and as normal this is a well written, delightful story. I recommend this series as each book can be read as a stand alone story.

This is a peek into the Yates living room window a few days before Christmas. Im not so sure the family is crazy just trying to live through difficult times. That makes them different from others. This is a short story but that doesn’t mean the author skimped out the developing the characters. I understood where Callie was coming from. Always down on their luck the monster always lurking around the next corner. Her family who hasn’t been there for her before. Will they come through on Christmas or will they just keep thinking about themselves?

This is not a first time author for me. I enjoy how she creates a small glimpse of someone’s world and invites us in the be spectators.

What a great start to a new group of guys! I love the writing in this. The characters draw me in and seem very real. I loved seeing all the old characters and meeting some new ones. I quickly get immersed into the MC life again. We are meeting new Brothers, new Ol’ Lady’s and new sweet butts. What comes with this as well are new problems.

Paladin struggles to gain and give the trust he so easily had from his new Brothers. Not only that but Moira has claimed herself as guardian of Jayden. Protecting her from Paladin. I tell you new clubs are not super easy. OMG!! That cat!! What a great add to the story! Her antics cracked me up! She added a little fun and craziness to a more serious story.

Moira and The Prez have had quite the life. They are getting older and changes come with that. I liked how the author dealt with a few issues. I have not read a book that talks about the trials of getting older like this one. I could easily identify with both of these characters going through this rough time. I will say Moira was not a favorite of mine for a while during this read.

This author is quickly becoming a one-clicker for me. I have been hooked on these MC’s for a while now. I loved *seeing* Drummer/Arizona crew again in here since he feels like coming home. But the new crew felt pretty good by the time the book was done. I can’t wait for the next one!

Hope’s Defeat is the third book in The Fated Series by author Angela McPherson. To get the full experience of this incredible paranormal, fantasy read, then I suggest you start from the beginning and thoroughly enjoy the incredible growth of our main characters and their story. Trinity and Blain continue on their journey in this read and also continue to develop and face new challenges.

The action starts straight away and doesn’t let up until the end! This book and this entire series so far continues to suck you into this world, that the author has created, she has once again made this a mentally visual read throughout. I was completely captivated with this read from the very beginning right up until the last page.
The book was filled with twists and turns throughout that had me on the edge of my seat. This book is filled with action, danger, suspense and doesn’t let up at all through the book.

This has been an epic series and another amazing book to this series. I can’t wait to see what else this author will bring us.

Fatal Legislation: A Novel: Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 2 by Ellen Butler was a fast pace, intriguing mystery, that had me hooked from start to finish.

Not my first read by this author or in this series. We are again tossed into an unusual mystery were our MC is once again in the wrong place at the wrong or right time. Man she really know how to get herself in a pickle. Before I get to far into this review, this book, though can be read as a standalone, is part of a continuation series, and I highly suggest reading the first book, especially if you want more backgrounds on our MC and her sexy FBI lover.

Like the last book, the writing is on point, the pace is smooth and cohesive. The fast pacing gives the book a senise of paince, and really puts our MC in the hot seat. The murder plot is also a bit of a test for our power couple and, for me, I like that added element. But I do hope that, moving forward with this series, that Karina’s doesn’t always fall into these situations (Not so much the mysteries, but how she’s finder herself involved in them). Once it fine, twice.. okay.. but a third.. you can only do the same thing so many times. In all, that’s my only criticism with this book, and this series.

Overall this action packed thriller was a fun read, and I loved the complex multi layered plot. The ending was a shocker, but the clues are there, so pay attention. With that said, I’m going to leave you with my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

For the Love of Laura Beth (A Chicago Christmas Book 4) by Aubrey Wynne was a sweet quick read, about the growing pains of marriage and learning how to dig down deep, to find that strength needed, to overcome every hardship that was tossed their way.

Not my first read by this author so I knew going in, that I was in for a well crafted read. I was not disappointed. A fast pace tale of love, hardship and family, I was taken on a sweet journey that not only pulled at those dreaded heartstrings, it ignited feelings of hope and faith.

I liked the way this story was structured, like I was reading a combined journal from both Joey and Laura Beth. It reads chronologically, telling us their beginning, their ups, downs, their loses and how they, as a couple, overcame both their demons. As this story moves fast, I don’t want to give anything away. But I will tell you that, time and care went into this read, especially for the era it was set in.

Overall this book is worth your time and energy, it will take you back in time, back when things appeared simple, but as we all know, things are never what they seemed. Life always has other plans. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will fall for Laura and Joey.

I have to admit that this is sort of a new genre for me. I really am not into like political murder mysteries and so I was pleasantly surprised when I got sucked into this book. I really like the way that the author weaves the drama into the story and you find yourself at the edge of your seat. I really didn’t want to put this book down.

I found myself really gripping the edge of my seat as Karina’s character helped to unfold the mystery and drama and solve the case. I really was eager just to turn the next page to see just what would happen next. I have to admit that the undertone of the romance between Karina and Mike really just adds to the drama. I don’t normally like political dramas like this but I find that I really did enjoy this book and would like to read more from this author. I find that it is a good thing to try and broaden your reading .

Beachcomber Gone was a thrilling 5 star read and book 9 in the Beachcomber Investigations series. Stephanie Queen has once again pulled me right in.

Just when these two are finally taking a step forward by going to meet Shana’s family things take a big twist. Dane takes an important call while in flight to Australia, a call that changes everything.

Someone from the past has their sights set on Shana. They have her mother and are using her as bait to get what they want.

Can Shana prove her innocence in an old case of hers?
Can they save her mother before it’s too late? Can they ever get a HEA?

Shana is a very strong loving woman and I love that about her. Dane is a caring and protective man who would do anything for Shana. We get a great mix of so much in this story, thrilling twists and turns and edge of your seat moments. Secondary characters were great. You can read as a stand alone but I suggest reading from the beginning so you understand the whole story between Shana and Dane. I can’t wait to read more from this series/author.

For the Love of Laura Beth by Aubrey Wynne is the fourth book in the Chicago Christmas series. This is the story of Laura and Joe. They fell in love as children and had their lives all mapped out until Joe is sent to Korea during the Korean War. When he returns life does not fall back into the norm. Joe is dealing with the aftermath of having been deployed into a war zone and Laura is dealing with her own problems. Will the strength of their love overcome all of their challenges?
This is a well-done and sweet story. The characters are well written and the story was interesting. The story was sad but uplifting as well. I liked the realistic, non fairy tale aspects of the story. Life is a struggle and we have to figure out what is important to us. I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

5 Stars!!!!!

I couldn’t wait to get delved into this book and boy I wasn’t disappointed. This is the third book in the
series and fourth one I have read by this author. The books just keep getting better and better. I was drawn in from the first page and couldn’t put the book down.

The author does such a wonderful job of keeping the drama going from book to book. There seems to be a smooth transition from the fist straight through to the third book in this series. To get to follow more the lives of Wren and her fellow confectioners as the head into the pending war kept me glued to the edge of my seat. The way that the drama unfolds keeps your attention. I wasn’t disappointed as I continued to read as the drama unfolded in this book. I really will be reading more from this author in the future and hopefully there will be more in this series.

A Frothy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott is the fourth book in her Christmas Kiss series and it just couldn’t get any better than this. Following the story of Kat and Dan, and their mutual love of coffee, I feel right into this story and loved every minute of it. When Kat finds this great kitschy little coffee shop she feels right at home, especially once she meets to handsome owner of said coffee shop. The immediate attraction and connection leads to allot of flirtatious moves and an undeniable pull toward each other. When she learns that Dan has baggage at home, she will have to be willing to take a leap of faith on her feelings for Dan in order to see if this relationship is going to be worth it. Dan wants to make things work with Kat, but he needs to be friends with her first because of his home life. As soon as Kat starts to work at the coffee shop, Dan finds its harder and harder to stay away from her. When her past comes blowing into the shop in the form of her ex it will take Dan aback but will make him have to push his feelings to the limit if he wants to win the girl. Will this Christmas season be the last that either of them has to be alone or will they be better as friends with a mutual love of coffee? Abbott is swiftly becoming a favorite author of mine to read, as this series has really pulled me into the Christmas spirit. While each of this series can be read as a stand-alone book, I highly recommend picking up the whole series as you won’t be able to stop at just one read. I can’t wait to see what Abbott brings to her readers next!

For the Love of Laura Beth was a great 5 star read and book four in the A Chicago Christmas series. What an emotional read, I was pulled right in from the beginning.

Laura and Joe have grown up together, they go from friends to dating in high school. When Joe’s family suffers a loss Laura is there to support him and his family.

I twist of fate occurs and Joe ends up having to go to war. In a rush Joe and Laura get married before he gets deployed. Laura ends up living with Joe’s family due to their choices and a wonderful surprise. When Joe returns another twist of fate will test everything these two have.

Can they make their marriage work? Will they be able to make it through the hard times intact?

I loved all of the characters in this book. Both Laura and Joe were very strong with everything that was thrown at them. My emotions were all over the place. Laura was strong and had some great courage. Joe was great as well, he was very brave and was a great support for Laura. Aubrey Wynne has done a great job with this historical read, she pulls you right in with her writing. A must read for sure.

Four Stars

Leaving Jackson Wolf is a new coming of age/YA book by P.A. Kane. This is the first book I have read by P.A. Kane, and I love the powerful writing style emotional issues this author tackled in this story. This book deals with bullying, emotional abuse, and racial issues. This book follow Jackson Wolf and James McDougal, two boy that form an unlikely friendship when they are bullied in school. The boys find they have more in common, and bond through the hard times they find themselves in both in school and at home. The author brings up difficult issues, and does a great job letting readers feel the emotions running through these characters. I really enjoyed this story and would highly recommend it to everyone looking for a short emotional read. I look forward to reading more books from P.A. Kane.
