Sweet Vengeance is the third book in the Mission Belles Series, and is a historical romance. I usually do not read historical novels OR romance but this one had a twist of mystery and adventure that appealed to me so decided to give it a try. I was unaware this was a series, and this is the third book but fortunately it can be read as a standalone and was easy to follow. I’m sure if you read the others, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if the plot continues from the previous reads, but it is not needed. In this story, Elena is on a mission to carry out her mother’s dying wish and to find the man that ruined her family. Sean is a man that doesn’t trust easily, but maybe that will change when paths and plots become crossed. Will Elena have the heart to carry out her mother’s revenge, or will love win instead??
I did like that the story remains historically accurate for the time period (as far as I can tell, I am no history buff) and nothing seems out of the ordinary for San Francisco Gold Rush days. I also liked the revenge plot, and all of the fluctuations of emotions throughout the book. Nothing felt unrealistic and characters were angry when they should be, and tensions were high at accurate moments. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this one, and may go back and read the others in the set before this to see if it makes the story even better! Give genres a try that you usually wouldnt touch, you might like it!
This is the 5th book of the series and after reading it I definitely want to read the first 4 books. The story is a dark romance with lots of action. It will definitely keep you engaged if you are interested in dark romance books. I found that it has a couple of triggers so please read book overview before committing to reading it. I personally enjoyed reading the story and recommend this saga to anybody who will not be affected by the triggers.

I love a fantastic love story. There are times when I simply just listen to certain songs to feel certain feelings that don’t exist in my life at the time… Until SaintCon! I fell in love with the description of this wonderful book and i was so ready to keep every page continuously turning! I can’t wait to get more from this author. I’m usually not a romance novel fan but this book was magical and very inspiring! Happy reading!

This book has been created with the whole family in mind. The story was fun, engaging and we loved reading it. Every one of us was rooting for Ben and wanted to see him win the competition. The story was easy to follow and entertaining the whole way through. Even more than the story, we loved the recipe provided at the end of the book. As soon as we saw that, time was set aside specifically for us to do the baking, which was even more fun than the reading. This book has been one of our favourites of the year and I foresee many more baking days to come.

This book is a fun and entertaining story about a young sleuth all set on solving mysteries. This book is the perfect level of my daughter, who is just progressing onto chapter books and slightly more challenging reading. She was engaged with the book right from the start, which was made easier by the pictures scattered throughout. Dylan was an enjoyable character and he was easy to connect with. It was fun to watch him try and figure out the mystery of the missing mail and I loved that I got to share this with my daughter. This is a book that we have come back to a few times already and I am sure we will read a few more.

This is a dark enemies to lovers mafia romance which had me gripped throughout. Unfortunately I hadn’t read the previous books in this series, and I wish I had because the storyline appears to continue and I did feel I was missing out on the characters back stories as well. However, I did find this reverse harem dark romance entertaining and engaging, and I quickly got into the story. Devon is now with the four men of her dreams but is aware that the threat is getting closer, and having lost once he will be back with a vengeance, so the plan is to hunt him down first. Angel is glad her psycho stalker is gone but now there is an even bigger threat to their existence, but they have one chance to take him down. This definitely contains potential triggers for some as it is a particularly graphic dark romance. The storyline was full of drama and suspense and plenty of plot twists, whilst the setting and characters were brought to life through the descriptive narrative. I never felt completely immersed in the story but that was due to not having read the previous books in the series, which I would personally recommend doing.

A fantastic book full of adventure, intrigue, tension, emotions, spice, and so so very much more! This is another absolutely amazing enemies to lovers read that kept me turning page after page until I finished this. I genuinely couldn’t put this book down. Our story revolves around Alindra, a magician that has spent her life trapped in the Kingdom of Summer, and who is absolutely desperate to escape, and will take literally any help she can get. Next is Phaedron, a man who will do anything, and work with anyone, (even his enemy) if it means saving his brother. What happens when the only salvation these two can see means working and traveling together? Take a moment to read this and find out!!!
Mystery that keeps you guessing and intrigue to keep you hooked. This is the first book I have read by the talented Brandi Elledge, and I was not disappointed. Riley is tired of her “cult” community and though the world outside the fence is full of dangers she longs to escape her “prison”. The world of today is long gone, and the shadows carry secrets and the impure. Riley lives in New Haven, a puritan community in Alabama, but how safe is it really when the extremists start moving south. Everyone has a chance of having the “impure gene” inside them that when mutated could turn them into a vampire, werewolf, shifter or the forbidden shadowbringer. Sam, her best friend, and she have dreamed and planned for the day they graduate high school, and they can finally escape the community and see the world outside for themselves. Only on day one of their senior year something is different, while being preached to over and over about the dangers of leaving the community and being given only one warning before exiled if the try they now have fifteen new students at their school. Pure High, where Sam’s mom is the dean, has welcomed and allows the new students to come and go from the community at will. Angry and confused Riley starts to speculate why they are allowed to and what has changed. Adopted at age three, Riley has always felt like an outsider. As a child she dreamed of the shadows and for as long as she can remember she has had all-consuming headaches but now something is different. The pain was always there just changed in degree but now more ailments are hitting her, waves of heat and fevers while the headaches continue. Asher, one of the new boys from outside the fence is clearly the top dog and he seems to always have an eye on Riley. While a girl in the group that seems to be his girlfriend strongly disapproves of his interest in Riley. A kiss at an end of the year party makes things complicated with her best friend Easton that leads to more awkward moments than she likes, and Sam thinks the two of them would end up together and reproducing like they are “supposed” to do if they don’t mutate. What is happening to Riley, is she mutating? Who will she become, and who were her parents? This world kept growing and evolving as more was revealed. The process, while feeling slow at times, helped build a complete image in the mind that made it easier to see. The characters were never truly what they seemed on the surface, proving don’t judge a book by its cover. I was kept on my toes as I lost sleep in need of knowing what would happen next and by the end, I was already looking for book two, Shadow Dweller, out now. I know I will certainly be diving into it soon to learn what happens next. While I usually don’t comment about other reviews, I felt it was necessary in this case. When I first came across this book the first comment, I saw mentioned no cursing and no “naughty” romance was in this book and that it was appropriate for younger children to read. Now I understand that every person’s opinion is different just as the age we determine to be a younger child might be different. I consider a younger child the age of my older son, which is eleven, and just three chapters into this there were statements that I would not approve of knowing he was reading in a book. Yes, there is some cussing/cursing in this book not excessively, but it is there, but the “naughty” romance comment is more what I am concerned with for a “younger child”. As an adult I felt the comment fit in with the story and made me laugh but this is the quote, “Baby, you haven’t had me between your legs. You have no clue what I’m worth,” one of the guys said. Now once again as an adult there is nothing wrong but an eleven-year-old, I don’t feel it is appropriate to deem this book okay for younger children. Once again loved the book and can’t wait for number two, just my opinion on another review.

This was a interesting murder mystery set in the 1930s. The author does an amazing job of researching and writing about era really bringing it to life. I loved the main character of Sparky. She strength and resilience as well as her attitude to let nothing stop her really endeared her to my heart.
Sparky hasn’t had the easiest life. She is an orphan living on the streets struggling to survive. On her birthday she decides to venture to her special place with the treats she has saved. When she arrives she finds a little girl. What she doesn’t realise at first is that the little girl is dead. In panic she raises the alarm which in turn turns her into the number 1 suspect. Not only is she the suspect of that murder but everything bad that has happened is now placed at her feet. So she is now on the run and with the help of an eccentric actress( who all the children think is scary and dangerous) and her friend from the streets Bobby they need to find out who the murderer is to clear Sparky’s name.
This is a fast paced murder mystery which i really enjoyed. The author’s writing style and descriptive writing really brought this story and characters to life.

Let me start off by saying that this is the 8th book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black, and it is AWESOME. This can be read as a standalone like I have read it, or it can be read in chronological order. I plan to go back and read the rest of the series.
Master Sardinia will do anything to keep the order and halt the dark plans of the traitors from coming to fruition.
After a brutal shifter attack, Master Sardinia is left with no alternative but to turn Madria Benalli, a 21 year old woman who just happens to be the daughter of the owner of Club Benalli, and a psychic in her own right.
Madria sees Sardinia as the enemy, and Master Sardinia views Madria as an infuriating psychic. They are very different people, but one thing they share is an unquestionable and electric attraction to one another. How will they cope with their growing attraction and feelings for one another while fighting against the dark forces that threaten them? Take a moment to read this jam-packed book and find out!!

There’s an eerie setting in this book which made it good to read around Halloween. It was a quick read. You are kept guessing what the outcome will be until the end of the book. It has interesting characters. Although I felt that there could have been more chemistry between the two main characters, I was still able to enjoy the story. If you enjoy books with M/M and supernatural characters then you may enjoy this one.

A wonderful beginning to a new series. I was drawn right in from the beginning with the drama and adventure. I loved how it started with an almost cult-like meeting that young ones had to attend. It’s an amazing paranormal fantasy that has a little of everything in the story. There are fantastic characters and detailed descriptions that help with the story. It’s very creative. I loved the whole story and couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read book 2.

Almost and Forever is a Contemporary Romance about finding love and happiness after suffering the loss of a lived one. My emotions were all over the place as Adam went through the notions after loosing someone very special to him. Hope is drawn to Adam in ways she don’t understand. He’s a stranger but makes her feel things she shouldn’t be. She follows her heart and so does he eventually and these two are great together. But what will happen when the truth comes out? Will Adam allow his heart to heal from his loss. Can he get the happy ending he deserves? I highly recommend reading this book and having kleenexes nearby. This was such a great book and was so easy to listen to. In this book we meet Sue, a mother of 4 boys who had previously been an extremely successful accountant, but who had been out of the workforce raising her sons for the past 20+ years. Now that the boys are pretty well grown, Sue realizes that it’s time for her to decide what her next endeavor should be. When she discovers the plans to build an extremely oversized resort and theme park in her quiet and beautifully serene town, she realizes that the solitude she currently enjoys is being threatened by this impending monstrosity. With the help of family and friends, Sue launches an initiative to prevent these newcomers from moving in. However, there are many different things going on in Sue’s life that she must deal with. She is having marital problems with her husband Gabe, who spends more time in Denver than he does with his wife and children. She’s had a rough past with her mom and has strived to live her life in a way her mother hadn’t so that she doesn’t end up like her mom did. She also faces opposition on the fight against this new theme park. She launches a podcast chronicling this new proposed theme park, which slowly gains momentum. But will it be enough to sway the city council from approving this new theme park? And can she work out the relationships with her husband and mother?

Sea of Demons is the fifth book in the Blood and Sand series by Heidi Stark. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Stark- so I really didn’t know what to expect from one of her stories. But as dark romance is one of my guilty pleasures, and the darker the better, I couldn’t wait to discover all the suspenseful details.
This promised a dark romantic suspense with mafia, danger, dramatic developments, tension, raw and gritty details, violence, murder, action, chemistry, sizzle, emotion, and intensity. Which I guess it did. But, I just wished I had read the previous four books before diving into this one. In this series, as far as I can tell, each instalment follows on from the previous book- and as these characters star in previous books- I can’t help but conclude that there are important aspects to the series that I am missing. The blurb isn’t clear on this, only ‘suggesting’ reading the other books if you prefer, giving the impression that this could be read as a standalone…. “Sea of Demons is a full-length mafia/gang dark romantic suspense containing potential triggers. Reader discretion is advised. This is the 5th book in the Blood and Sand series. Books 2-4 can also be found combined as Sinners, Rage, and The Brixton Trilogy, if you prefer to read the Brixton story to this point in its entirety.” But knowing what happened in those four books seems to be more important than that part of the blurb implies….. So, again, I wish I had known that going into this book, because I did feel like I wasn’t privy to important details/developments- and knowing/thinking that made me frustrated and anxious as I kept wondering what I had ‘missed’ in the previous books. There were more than a few moments where I nearly gave up in order to go and hunt down the previous books to read them before continuing on with this one- but I persevered hoping that it would all ‘fall into place’ at some point. But I never did find ‘my groove’. Lesson learned. So, unfortunately my rating reflects that. But in saying all that, the story and characters have piqued my interest, and I am hoping that by reading their story in its entirety it will help me connect and invest in them all the better. So I have decided to go back and read the previous books, to see if they change my impression- so stay tuned- as they may impact on my review/rating for the better. Take my advice, read the previous books first before starting on this one. Save yourself the anxiety and frustration that I experienced. Happy Reading…

So every once in a while I get on a shifter romance kick. That’s all I want to read, which is what led me to Wolfbane. This story is a tearjerker but good. Multiple love triangles with one common denominator in them. And poor girl the author puts her through the ringer. Yet she comes out better for it in the end. Jasmine has been saving herself for her one true mate. She’s the one who lacks fun, because she’s straight edge, religious, and pure. This book was the first one I read by this author, and I was pleasantly impressed with it. It’s a fantastic story of how the main character goes on to try to save the town she’s living in. It’s very well paced, and has a cozy vibe to it; one I would classify as a “winter read-” perfect for curling up with a nice mug of something warm to drink in the winter chill. It gives the reader a warm feeling through the entire book.
This is book three in the Mission Belles series. I read this book before I found out there were two books before it. However, I didn’t feel like I was missing out and this novel does well as a stand alone. This book is full of history with page turning plot points the drive the story first. There is plenty of action with plenty of twists along the way. If you enjoy historical romance enemies to lovers with revenge and danger, this is a book for you.
I am a die-hard for paranormal romance and when I tell you that I devoured this one I am not joking. I found a book that finally had some “meat” and wasn’t an hour read which gave it all the more points on my scale. Jasmine was so easy to love. Always the good girl now stuck choosing between two guys. Gah I couldn’t get enough! I cannot wait to read more Celia books cause she locked me up and threw away the key. This goes in my reread pile for sure!!

I have really enjoyed this series and visiting new places in my books. This is the third book in the series and follows some new characters. Isabel is the princess of Portugal and loves her country. Her brother, the king, sends her off to visit her cousin and find out what is happening in Spain. Henrique is selling his land and moving out of the country, but agrees to accompany the sister of his good friend (the king) to Spain. Henrique is witty and charming and knows how to woo the ladies. Isabel has been protected and doesn’t agree with his philandering, but she sees a different man underneath the façade. In Spain, they are busy with many events planned by her cousin, but also in a lot of political meetings. The true king of Spain is invited to the palace and tries to sweep Isabel off her feet in order to get back to his rightful throne. The story kept me guessing and I learned so much about life in the 1800s.

I was a little worried about reading this book due to the length, but the story draws you in from the beginning and refused to let me go. It made a weekend not being able to do anything go by so much faster.
Fenimore goes on quite a journey, both physically and emotionally. He isn’t happy with his dull life and the life of an outlaw fascinates him. He hits the road with his horse in search of a new life and identity.
It wasn’t exciting but not a dull trip either before meeting up with the gang he was looking for and eventually becomes a part of.
So much happens while out on his adventures. He felt every emotion possible and ever event he went through changed him. This is definitely a book you need to be prepared to invest the time into, but it’s totally worth every minute.

Logan’s daughter, Amy, is home from her travels in Africa. She’s home because she is receiving treatment for and recovering from malaria. She’s under strict orders to get as much rest as possible. Liam, Amy’s boyfriend, is taking the doctor’s orders very seriously and monitoring Amy’s progress hourly.
The sea otter center, which is fairly new, receives a new sea otter pup after Logan and Amy find it trapped in some seaweed while on a walk one day. Eager to learn more about the habits of sea otters, Amy volunteers, along with several of her friends, to help nurse the otter back to health.
A snag has come up in the sea otter center though as another person has come up claiming rights to the property. There is a lot of legal battling going on, and then a break-in, some injuries, and a murder. What has Logan gotten herself into this time?
I enjoyed this story and it kept me engaged. This one was a bit more emotional for me because of the situations within the story. I continue to look forward to reading more of this series.

Not a musical. Set in New Orleans, a city of magic, and of dark magic. A single-dad homicide detective whose secret weapon is a slightly magical teenage daughter. Drama camp romance. Best friends. Young love. Of course, there is a nemesis. Then again, perhaps this story would make for a good musical, after all!
