Oh my this book is good! I love a good mystery and this book definitely gives you that. The characters are wonderful and they make such an impression you think they are jumping off the page. The story is of a longer length however once you start reading you will not mind a bit. I didn’t want the story to end. Mark Nolan has created a novel that I will recommend to all my friends! I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) By Mark Nolan
This book drew me in from the beginning. I found this story to be full of action, suspense, humor, twists and turns, and wonderful characters including Cody the dog. There is a lot going on in this book but it all flowed nicely so you aren’t confused in any way. Even though this story is a little long I kept finding myself not wanting to put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen next. This book kept me entertained and at the edge of my seat at times. The author did a great job in writing with vivid detail. This is a good mystery novel that I recommend reading.

This is the book that started it all. It starts with action and easily kept my interest throughout. I loved seeing the meet ups of Tyrell and Cody and others(I have read all the other books before this one). I still enjoyed it other than at times it’s wordy. The flow is nice and of course I love these characters. I could really see the relationship built between Jake and these others.
Overall I am glad I finally read this. It’s a bit long but still a good lead off.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie is the first book in Mark Nolan’s Jack Wolfe series. It’s an exciting mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seat throughout! In this book we get to know Wolfe, as well as Cody, the dog he adopts following the death of Cody’s previous owner. The affection Wolfe has for Cody and the growing bond between the pair is really special and helped me to grow to like Wolfe as a character! As a retired military dog, Cody is well-trained and very intelligent – a perfect sidekick for Wolfe! Wolfe seems to constantly be getting himself into trouble, which adds to the tension. The story switches between viewpoints which further serves to heighten this tension! The viewpoints also help the reader to see different sides to the story – I definitely found myself sympathising with the killer from time to time. For me, this is a five-star read. It’s a fairly long book – a good companion for a holiday (if you’re lucky enough to be able to travel…) or to snuggle up with on a staycation. I’d recommend to readers who enjoy action and mystery, and have a soft spot for four-legged heroes!

I really enjoy Nolan’s storytelling and the characters in this series. Jake is a very strong lead and there is quite a bit that unfolds in this book. Tons of detail that helps you definitely plug into the exact place the author wants to transport you to. I really hope to read more of Jake and his adventures and see how Nolan continues shaping the series.

Four Stars
I love a good murder mystery. The blood gets boiling and kind races. You never know what you will be hit with next. Jake was an interesting character. He was lazy with a weird sense of justice. He never does anything by the book. He is quick on his feet when there is trouble. I really like how the author made him feel more realistic. He wasn’t this smoking hot guy with all this charm and killer skill. He felt like a regular guy who just knew what he was good at and thrived in dangerous situations. There were some moments that I was like meh next but over all not a bad read.

Dead Lawyers Don’t lie by Mark Nolan is book one of the Jake Wolfe series. If you like suspense, this book is for you! This book really hooked me on the whole series because nothing is as you’d expect it to be. I couldn’t put it down.
This book is suspenseful with major plot twists I didn’t see coming. Jake wants to leave his flawed past behind him but even he can’t ignore what he needs to do this time. How far will Jake have to go to protect the people he cares about when he accidentally stumbles upon the identity of a murderer?

4 Stars
I am reading this series totally out of order and was really excited to finally come back to book 1 and see where this all began. I know that I had become completely invested in this series in later books so had no fear about reading this one.
This one was a bit long. I love when I can sit down and read a book in one sitting, possibly two, this one took me a bit longer. There were so many moving parts and little additions to the storyline that popped up all the way through, I had to reread a few things and stop and try to figure things out along the way. There was A LOT of extra descriptions and information that I would skip over as I didnt need these for the story.
In saying all of that, this is one of my favorite genres, and this book had everything I would expect from a book in this genre and then some. The evil was really evil, the suspense was edge of my seat, the secondary characters were amazing and then add in Cody and it was a done deal, I was hooked.
This book I do feel was needed in my reading of this series. I so far have loved the later books, and seeing how this series and the writing of this series has progressed is really great.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie by Mark Nolan a five-star thriller. This was a great start to the series and shows us what a great story is to come, there are parts that will have your brain itching with clues, but they are just you’re of reach, I feel like the more I read the more clues I will find and the more I will understand. This takes you to the extreme, it really has the most villainous villain I have ever come across. There has to be a special mention to Cody, who will always have a special place in my heart and no doubt the heart of mystery.

This novel kicks off a new Jake Wolfe series from Mark Nolan. I loved how this book literally hits you in the face with action from the very beginning and keeps you on the edge of your seat until that very last chapter. I felt like I got so much with this novel and I am super excited that there will be more to come in the series with these characters.
This starts off with Jake Wolfe, a military vet who is working as a photojournalist in the prime of his days. At the moment he is following a hot lead on a story that will thrust him into the life of a high ranking lawyer. His goal is to simply dig up some details for his story and instead witnesses the lawyers murder! From there the ride is wild and full of twists and turns that are completely unpredictable. I can’t wait to get my hands on book two!

Poor Jake Wolfe. In Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie , by Mark Nolan, it all starts with Jake just being in the wrong place at the right time. Mark Nolan writes an excellent thriller, with nonstop action. He gives us great characters that are fully fleshed out and you can’t help becoming attached to them. This is a great cat and mouse story that gives and gives especially if you like an action-packed ride, excitement, dogs and even a little romance to spice things up a little. If you can’t tell by now, I am a mark Nolan fan.

Mark Nolan is a mastermind. Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie kept me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. There were many times when I had to grip my pillow because I was nervous about what was coming around the corner. The storyline is gripping. It held my attention from the first paragraph until the last word. The characters are fully developed and complex. Throughout the story, there is a roller coaster ride that keeps the story moving. “The Artist” had decided to assassinate wealthy lawyers. He has put Jake Wolfe on his sites because of a photo. Jake decides to take the chase to The Artist. Can Jake keep his loved one safe? Will Jake find “The Artist” before his loved ones get hurt? I highly recommend this story. I will warn that you may not be able to put the book down once you start reading it.

What happens when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, but also have a picture of a murder who has added you to there hitlist.
Jake is a war veteran and is in San Francisco when he takes a picture but does not realised that he may have photographed a killer. As Jake then realises he has placed himself in the middle of this serial killers sights and will he be next on the hit list.
I really enjoyed the twists and turns within the story and that it was constructed really well. The characters are brilliant and enhance the story as it weaves through the world of “The Artist”, with the story exploring Jake’s past it lets you into the experiences which has made this man who he is today.
This is the first story I have read by this author and loved the style of writing which draw me in and I could not stop reading once started. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and to read more about Jake.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie (Jake Wolfe #1) is an action-packed thriller. This gripping tale is one rollercoaster ride with lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming. It is a suspenseful thriller that is so engrossing that the end is upon you before you know it. As much as there is action galore and a barrel of suspense it is also funny. Jake and his best friend Terrell just crack me up. Not to mention Cody.
Jake Wolfe is ex-military, and also a photojournalist for local news. Deadly Weapon is the 5th book in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. I have read them all, but you don’t have to read them in order. The story definitely continues as far as Jake and Cody’s friendships but there is enough background information provided to enjoy, starting anywhere in the series. I like these books because they are a good suspense with a touch of mystery and humor. When I first started, I thought it was weird how Nolan writes about Cody’s feelings and thoughts, but now I’m used it it and it doesn’t phase me. This story hits a little too close to home, with COVID 19 happening right now. At the end of the book the author does say how he started this book long before the epidemic started. However, a lot of the details are close to the conspiracy theories out there. Over all, well written book and great addition to the series. Highly recommend it.

The author is an exceptional writer that keeps me entertained and I find it impossible to put the book down until I finish it. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Wow I really enjoyed book 5 the Deadly weapon than the other books in this series. I have always liked Jake and Cody and how resilient they can be in minutes. These characters are amazing and the plot is intense. Jake and Cody are in trouble yet again trying to save the world. It seems like every time Jake takes a vacation its always cut short. Jake is Alaska visiting his friend Tuktu, a fellow combat veteran, now has a fishing guide business. While fishing Jake and Cody her something and look up and see helicopter come into view, and its coming in fast and he knows something is up. He checks his phone and notices a few missed calls and when he answers McKay asks if she can trust him and the next thing you know he is cutting his trip short to head back. After Loading the helicopter, they find Ron one of the best pilots around was with Ron was with Tuktu in Somalia. Where is Jake going? Deadly Weapon is the fifth book in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series and Jake and Cody are back to save the world! They are in Alaska for some hard earned time out, fishing salmon and taking in the awesomeness that is Alaska. Jake has turned off the rest of the world so it is just him, Cody and his friend Tuktu … but obviously, like always, something goes wrong and their services are needed … this time to stop rouge operatives who are working on a weapon of mass destruction. You can read the story as a standalone as the writer gives us a story in its own rights in each of the books but as there are characters that you meet from story to story and you will want to be part of the journey that Jake and Cody are on then I suggest you start from the beginning … I promise you will fall in love with both Jake and Cody and even if you are not so fond of dogs, you dream of having a dog like Cody so in this story I am really excited about Cody’s puppies! The story pulls you in from chapter 1 and you are thrown up in the air on a halo that takes you on one heck of a ride filled with action and danger and assassins while dodging hidden agendas and explosions … I love how the writer utilises the multiple POV’s as it helps us to go even deeper into the storyline, the extensive research he does for each of his Jake Wolfe books is mind blowing so that means every story I read I constantly keep pinching myself and I find myself wondering what if … Thank you for these tense suspense filled hours and I cannot wait to see what is next in store for Jake and Cody (and Sarah and Skye)!

Deadly Weapon is the fifth action-packed adventure in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series. Jake is a former marine who can’t seem to sit still (or in this case, fish in peace) without getting roped into some top secret, high stakes mission. His service dog, Cody, is also a former marine and his training makes him an indispensable part of the team. The plot of Deadly Weapon centres around a biological weapon involving a deadly and highly contagious virus. So if you’re looking for a book that will take your mind off COVID-19, this ain’t it. But it’s a good story and for me being very aware of the damage a virus like that can do and how slow the process is to find a vaccine enhanced the tension and urgency of the story. I really like Cody, the dog. He’s very characterful and loveable! I particularly like the scenes that are from Cody’s point of view (the whole story uses third person over-the-shoulder narration, moving occasionally between different perspectives). From Cody’s perspective, we encounter the world primarily through scent and are reminded of his loyalty and drive to carry out his orders. In Deadly Weapon, we get to visit some great places including Alaska and Hawaii. In amongst the action, it’s lovely to get a sense of different scenery (and food!). For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend this to dog people who enjoy fast-paced action! If you’re particularly after a virus-themed story this works fine as a standalone, but it’s an enjoyable series so why not check out the other books as well!

Deadly Weapon by Mark Nolan is book five of the Jake Wolfe series. Though it’s part of the series, this book can also be read as a standalone. This book is non stop action and does well at holding your attention! This book all too well can be related to real life which pulls you in even further because you think ‘what if’.
Jake and his ever faithful war dog Cody are at it again. So much happens in this book I couldn’t possibly do it justice but I’ll say, it all starts with a trip to Alaska. I’m sure when Jake planned to go fishing he had no idea what would happen next.
This book is so timely with everything happening in the world right now related to COVID. Totally relatable and definitely pulls you in!

Another great read by this author! this is a great series the author does great with character build up as well as setting the storyline. This is easy to read and will have you turning the pages. Here’s some of the background, Jake and Cody go on an Alaskan fishing trip guided by Jake’s old friend Tukatu who runs a fishing guide business in Alaska. Everyone deserves a little R and R, right?
