Key West DeadKey West Dead by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the series following the lush Jake Wolfe. Jake and Sarah attend the wedding of one of his marine buddies down in Key West. The marriage is short lived as the newlywed’s boat exploded while they were sailing away. Someone calling himself Orion is threatening even more explosions unless he is paid $30 million. It is fun to hear some of Cody’s thoughts, he is one of the best characters, and I know there are dogs out there as smart as he is. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Key West Dead is book 6 of the Jake Wolfe Novels. I love the characters that Nolan has created in this series. Sarah, Cody, Jake and even the Florida police officers working the case of Orion, the boat bomber. This story is action packed with adventure. And the description of the Key West area is realistic. Always a good mystery story when Nolan’s writing it. His stories are always believable and fun.
Looking forward to reading what Jake and Cody get into next. Definitely recommend this author.

Key West Dead by Mark Nolan is book six of the Jake Wolfe series.

Jake is attending a wedding in Key West. He doesn’t expect that he and Cody will be working to find someone who is targeting boats in the Keys. So much is resting on whether this person can be caught. Jake and Cody follow the trail but will they be able to hunt down the bomber before it’s too late?

Much like the other books in this series, I enjoyed reading this book. There is just enough twists and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. I recommend this book and series!

I have read several of these adventure about Jake and Cody and they get better every time. The author does an amazing job of making the story come alive with descriptions of the locations to the thoughts and feelings the characters are experiencing. This book had me gripped from the first page and didn’t let go.

In this book we find Jake and Sarah attending a former marines wedding. However things aren’t happily ever after when the couple leave on honeymoon and their boat blows up.
Why did their boat explode? Who would want to kill them? Was it a random one off attack?

This is what Jake and his trusted dog Cody are going to find out. As time goes on and there are more attacks the attacker is getting closer and more personal. When the attacker sets his sights on Cody, Jake will stop at nothing to bring this person down.

Will he succeed before its too late? Or will the attacker get what he wants to destroy Jake and Cody?

Key West Dead is the most recent, 6th book in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. This book, like those before it, are packed full of adventure. Jake and his dog Cody are always getting in the middle of trouble, and this is no exception. The book starts off with Jake attending a wedding of his close friend in Key West, Fl. Before the end of the first couple chapters, a boat explodes, friends are dead, and there is a serial bomber/terrorist making threats of more to come. Insert Jake, his dog Cody, and their best friend, cop, Terrell. The book is filled with suspense, keeping you on the edge of your seat. I didn’t want to put it down from start to finish, and love seeing the relationship of Jake and Sarah evolve. There is bound to be more books coming, because I don’t think Nolan would end the series before their marriage. So I look forward for the next in the series. Keep ’em coming!

Key Wast Dead (Jake Wolfe Book 6) by Mark Nolan is great! It’s been a while since I’ve read a thrilling crime novel and this one hit the spot. Although I haven’t read the other books in the series, I was able to figure out the main characters pretty quickly. I love that Jake and Cody work together to solve crimes. In this book, they are searching for a bomber who is terrorizing Key West by blowing up yachts, threatening some of Jake’ military buddies, and demanding money from the county. Following Jake and Cody work to find the bomber was thrilling. I can’t wait to pick up the earlier books and read more about the Jake & Cody combo.

WOW– this series just gets better and more addictive with each new release. Key West Dead is the gripping new instalment in the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. I know I keep saying this, but I really can’t get enough of this series- and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of joining Jake and Cody on one of their exciting ‘adventures’- no pressure, Mr. Nolan, but I hope you’ve got many more exciting adventures for Jake, Cody, and their many ‘friends’ to negotiate, because I have a slight addiction and need a regular ‘fix’ to keep me going- so a regular ‘supply’ for the foreseeable future would be excellent, thanks! 😊
This story could be read as a standalone- but as there are recurring characters, as well as other important details that help to build a bigger picture, I would recommend reading the other books first, before embarking on this adventure as knowing what has happened previously, and how much Jake and Cody have been through together- will greatly enhance your reading experience of this story.
This time Jake and Cody are pitted against a psychotic bomber who is hell bent on a demented agenda… and taking out Jake and Cody in a fiery inferno just became his top priority- the perfect ‘icing’ on his deadly plot. Will Jake and Cody manage to outwit their deadly adversary long enough to take him down, as well as keeping their friends safe in the process? This is definitely worth the read to find out!!
I could go on and on about every little detail of this fantastic book- but instead I will sign off here so you can grab yourself a copy and dive in asap- highly recommended!
I can’t wait to see what Jake and Cody get up to next!

Thank you, Mark Nolan, for another gripping read!

When Jake and Sarah are attending a wedding of an brother in arms, they get more fireworks than the wedding itself. Can Jake find the person blowing up boats or will he kill more people?

Jake and Sarah are attending one of Jake’s military buddies wedding and they decide to hire a boat for the weekend, with their trust friend Cody will the trio enjoy a lovely get away or will it end up in disaster.

While in the ceremony they discover that a few of his fellow vets have received death threats and Jake’s sense become alert as he feels that something is not right and that he feels something bad is about to happen, but on the way back to the boat they befriend a couple and walk them back to their boat, within minutes the whole atmosphere changes and Jake is drawn into a murder investigation. Can he find out who is blowing up all these boats, can he locate the bombs with his trust bomb dog Cody or will the killer escape.

This is the first story I have read by this author and I loved it, the twists and turners have you wrestling to uncover who the killer and the bomber is with piecing the clues along the way. I loved that the ne character is a dog and a very intelligent dog, the research that must have gone into the book is fascinating and brilliant to understand these brilliant creatures was absolutely amazing.

I loved the character of Jake and the interaction with his friends was a great read, the banter was a great light relief to a hard hitting storyline and with an excellent and well written story draws you further into the story page by page. I can’t wait to start this series from the beginning, although this can be read as a stand alone story I would like to get to know where Jake and Cody’s bond comes from and how Jake met Sarah and get to understand more that relationship.

Another stellar story by Mark Nolan! In here we visit Key West with Jake, Cody and Sarah. I enjoy reading these stories to see what happens but also to read about the how and the why of Jake. How his brain works and of course I love watching…well err reading about Cody working and even not working.

This story has a lot of action, suspense and food. We get a lot more time with Sarah and Alicia and watch more on the interaction of Jake and Sarah. There are a few pesky bombs and ransoms to deal with as well as all the issues Jake and Cody have with other LEO’s. Which are not a few but always enjoyable as a reader.

After reading the back (it’s almost my favorite part) to see what was made up and what was true. I am amazed at how even the briefest mention of an item and it is mentioned in the back as true. Very detailed of this author. I loved that Jake goes to Key West! I have always wanted to go and it’s great to get some ideas of places to see and visit.

Key West Dead by Mark Nolan a fantastic five-star read. This is number six in the Jake Wolfe series and they could be read as stand-alone but honestly, I would say read them in order as you get the best out of them, you get to know the characters like Jake and Brody who is simply the star of the show to me. The suspense in this story is so tight it will keep you on the ledge, but the suspense isn’t the only part of the story. There is romance and drama and even some funny moments as well, they all make this a compelling and well plotted story. The thing that always strikes my from this author, is the attention to detail, usually when I read about something I know I get put off as they always get something wrong, but this author must spend so long doing research or simply writing what they know, as the detail is so well done.

Key West Dead is the sixth book in the Jake Wolfe series. It can be read as a standalone.
On the whole, this book was pretty good. There were a few places the dialogue wasn’t great, but there was enough suspense to keep things interesting. The one thing that really stood out in this book, now that we are seeing more of the girlfriend, is that their relationship seems forced in places. It doesn’t always seem like a natural flow. As always, the one thing that keeps the story going is Cody. He’s the real star.
Action, danger, suspense, explosions, a car chase… it has some things going for it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Key West Dead is a gripping tale of an ex-Marine and his ex-wardog Cody, as they sniff out clues to stop a rampaging boat bomber in Key West. Jake (Jukebox) Wolfe, in town for the wedding of his ex-military brother Harlan, unwittingly becomes wrapped up in a series of bombings that result in dozens of murders. Jake and his brothers are loyal as they come, and will not rest until bad guy Orion is stopped and brought to justice. He has a keen sense of danger, and catches whiff of small clues before anyone else can. He is smart and dangerous, and will stop at nothing to track down their cunning villain.

This book is pretty well-written, and I appreciated the details that made Jake’s history, locale, and boating come to life. One thing I found disheartening was that none of the women in this story pass the Bechdel test. Some of the wives of important people seem like they could be interesting, intelligent characters that could add to this plot (our hero’s girlfriend is a veterinarian, for example) but they seem to exist solely to be pretty accessories near their men. I would have liked to see Sarah and Alicia developed a bit more so that the book isn’t entirely dominated by men. All in all though, this is a good crime story of cat-and-mouse, and readers of this genre will likely be engrossed in its plot.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Key West Dead is the sixth book in Mark Nolan’s Jake Wolfe series. This book finds Jake and Cody in Key West, Florida and, as the title suggests, people die. There’s a crime to solve, and the stakes are high as the killer continues planting and detonating bombs.
Cody is a great character, and this is another story where his talented nose is in high demand. We also see Cody, as well as Jake, dealing with their PTSD as well as the ongoing traumatic events. It doesn’t help that what was meant to be a nice, relaxed holiday has turned into a life-threatening case.
It was good to see more of Sarah in this book as well! Although often sent off with friend Alicia while Jake and Cody are investigating, she gets in on the action as well as showing her openness to adventure and skills in handling a boat.
For me, this is a four-star book in an enjoyable series. The Florida setting is fun – made me feel like I was on holiday! I’d recommend the series to mystery and crime fans who like canine characters as much as humans.

This was not a bad read. Not my favorite from this author. It definitely had potential it just lacked the same thrill his other works gave. The plot was interesting. Someone is targeting yachts and sailboats while demanding money from the government. With the help of his dog Cody will they be able to stop this before more people are harmed, killed and homeless? I really wanted to like it but it was just missing something. I do like Jake he’s a very entertaining character. He has such an amazing sense of justice. Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie (Jake Wolfe #1) by Mark Nolan
Was a thrilling 5 star read that pulls you in right from the beginning.

Jake is working on a job that had him following a lawyer, things take a dangerous twist when the lawyer is killed and he captures a picture of the killer known as The Artist. The Artist is fully aware of Jake and adds him to his list, he has a job to take out three dirty lawyers and he won’t let anyone get in his way.

Jake has a friend on the police force that he assists, he was also in the Marines with him so they have a bond. Can they find the killer before he strikes again?

Overall this was a great read. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. You won’t want to put it down until you finish. We get multiple POV which I love so we can get into the killer’s head as well. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started today.

This book starts with an attorney at law winning yet another case and letting a guilty party go free and destroy another life in the process and when they go to celebrate with their colleagues at one of the exclusive country clubs with a round of golf, they find that they are not as immune to the repercussions as they thought when they are killed by an assassin and one of the witnesses is Jake Wolfe, a photojournalist who has been tailing him for a story and manages to take a picture of the assassin. Jake is not your typical run of the mill photojournalists either, he has a direct line to his friend and police officer Terell who he calls the incident in to and tries to help with the investigation as best that he can, he also has the ability to remain calm under pressure and take note of situations in a more concise manner than most.

We next meet the assassin as he leaves the scene in a meticulously planned manner, he has planned everything about this murder down to the smallest detail and is more than happy with the result, apart from the photographer who managed to get a picture of him, but it is something he will deal with in the future, it is only a photographer after all, so he returns to his hotel to plan the next stage of his plan. Meanwhile, Terell has arrived at the crime scene and is speaking to Jake while also receiving the evidence that he has collected, which is also being shared on the media by Jake as a live update on what is known about the case as it develops, this infuriates the assassin and he decides to up the ante and to make Jake his next target after all.

These two, the assassin and the journalist will soon be entangled in an epic chase around San Francisco as the bodies keep piling up and the investigation gets more and more convoluted as the police try to find out who the assassin is and who his next target is going to be. Add into the mix other members of the San Francisco Police Department who are not all on the right side of the law themselves and a highly intelligent dog who knows more than he is letting on and this is going to be a case that nobody will forget in a hurry.

Will Jake manage to use his skills and catch The Artist, or will he fall victim to The Artist’s employers plan and lead to them getting what they want? This is a thriller which is fast paced, action packed and will leave you wanting to know what happens in the next installments, well worth a read.

I give Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan 4 stars.

The characters are what really make this book for me. Jake and his dog have both been through a lot and struggle with their pasts. Finding each other was the best thing that happened to them both. These characters I found so endearing and realistic. The secondary characters round out the story well too and really make this a great book.

Then there is the story itself. Very detailed and suspenseful, the author has a way of making you feel like you have been dropped right into this book alongside Jake. I loved the progression of the story and could not put it down until I was finished.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie is the first book in the Jake Wolfe series.
The story line is intriguing. There is a good amount of action and suspense as you read. I love the addition of the dog as an integral part of the book. That being said, there are a few places where the story is slowed a little by some filler that could have been cut and still left a superb adventure.
Overall, a good read.
