Obsessed (Lila Casey Series Book 1)
By: J. Collins
5 out of 5 stars

The story Obsessed (Lila Casey Series Book 1) by J. Collins is an absolutely amazing book. It hooked me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until I had finished the last page. I have always loved vampire stories and this one is a wonderful example of why. I loved reading about the characters of Lila Casey and Adam Drake. Lila is a woman who loves vampire fiction. Little does she realize that when meeting Adam she finds a real-life vampire. I love that Lila is independent and is open to new experiences. Adam Drake is a businessman who finds himself not able to think of anything else once he meets Lila. There is an attraction between these two. There is also danger from another vampire who is also interested in Lila. Will Adam be able to keep Lila safe? Will the other vampire be found before he finds Lila? Read this book to find out. There is plenty of romantic scenes in this story that make the temperature in the room rise. There is intense and emotional dialogue. I enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are helpful to Adam and Lila. There are times that are humorous. The book also has times when I was turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. This is a story that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished it. It is a book I would highly recommend reading.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Moves by John Michaels is an amazing book to read. It pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. It has action, danger, and mystery. I found myself trying to put the clues together just like a puzzle. I loved reading about the character of Robert Jake. He is a man that has bouts of depression and anger because of the loss of 18 soldiers under his command. He is a well-known radio personality and the single parent to a young girl who he deeply loves. The murders of the Dallas District Attorney and two innocent women seem to be connected to him. What does the killer want and will they be caught? Read this book to find out. This story is well-written and I found myself feeling like I was right there with the characters going through what they do. The book is a page-turner that at times had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. There is intense dialogue as well as suspenseful moments. Don’t miss out on a book that you will not want to put down. Highly recommended.

Steele Resolve (The Hawke Family Book 6) by Gwyn McNamee

Steele Resolve (The Hawke Family Book 6) by Author Gwyn McNamee
Genre – Contemporary romance/romantic suspense/ LGBT
For one man, power is king. For the other, loyalty reigns.
Mob boss Luca “Steele” Abello isn’t just dangerous—he’s lethal. A master manipulator, liar, and user, no one should trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Yet, I can’t get him out of my head. The time we spent together before I knew his true identity is seared into my brain. His touch. His voice. They haunt my every waking hour and occupy my dreams. So does my guilt. I’m literally sleeping with the enemy and betraying the only family I’ve ever had. When I come clean, it will be the end of me.
Byron Harris is a distraction I can’t afford. I never should have let it go beyond that first night, but I couldn’t stay away. Even when I learned who he was, when the only option was to end things, I kept going back, risking his life and mine to continue our indiscretion. The truth of what I am could get us both killed, but being with the man who’s such an integral part of the Hawke family is even more terrifying. The only people I’ve ever cared about are on opposing sides, and I’m the rift that could end their friendship forever.
Love is a battlefield isn’t just a saying, for some, it’s a reality.
***Steele Resolve is the final book in The Hawke Family Series, but it is a continuation of the same story in the main series. While it is a complete story, it is NOT meant to be read as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings and the secondary characters featured in Steele Resolve starts in Savage Collision and continues in Tortured Skye, Stone Sober, Building Storm, and Tainted Saint. These stories all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be read in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots and characters. ***

Lila Casey has always been fascinated with vampire fiction, an escape from an average day-to-day life. A chance meeting with gorgeous Adam Drake plunges Lila into a world of real-life vampires, passion, true love… and danger…

Because unfortunately another, deadlier, vampire has taken a shine to Lila, and he’ll stop at nothing to hunt her down, his plans for her darker and more evil than anything she could imagine. Now it’s up to Adam and his friends to protect Lila while they try to hunt the hunter, and save her from her hideous fate.

Can they find him before he finds her?

Having read as many paranormal romance and supernatural series as possible, J Collins felt a world developing in her mind and sat in front of her laptop. She’d written many different subjects and genres in the past, but nothing had come together quite like this vampire world she’d begun creating.

The character of Lila Casey is loosely based on the writer; if the writer indeed had the guts and sassiness Lila does. The writer’s love of all things vampire, and of rock and goth music, became intertwined with this series, and fueled the hours and hours of writing in the early hours of the morning.

Born and raised in England, J Collins wanted to create something quintessentially English in its language, settings, and humour, and she hopes she has done it justice.

Beachcomber Enemy is the tenth book in Stephanie Queen’s Beachcomber Investigations Series.
As I’ve come to expect, the book had a great balance of action and adventure as well as the romantic. Dane and Shana continue to be characters you connect with and their chemistry is enough to keep you gravitating toward this series in itself.
Beachcomber Enemy hit the ground running on page one, something I really enjoy about a good book. Once the book kicked off there weren’t any lulls, the excitement was palpable and the story tlowed extremely nicely. As always, I look forward to reading more from this author.

Enemies Of The Desert is an exhilarating and action packed book. It was a quick and easy read with Blackbird as the main heroine. This novel continues from the previous book in the series and cannot be read as a standalone. The author has a magnificent writing style that easily pulls readers in. I loved the fast pace and different scenery of this novel. Blackbird has been an amazing character to follow since book 1 and I have enjoyed watching her grow. I was very pleased with how this novel ended and hope there is more to her story from this author in the future. I recommend this book as well as the other books in this series.

The tougher they are the harder they love; Evan “Tracker” was no different. Growing up on the street made him someone who knows how to track people down and protect them. Kerri Wallace wants nothing to do with her father’s MC, but when Tracker shows up to protect her from an enemy of her father’s, she not going to make his job easy. The Embers We Seek (A Rebel Princess Serial, #1)The Embers We Seek by Acacia K. Parker
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Embers We Seek: Prequel | War of Giants by Acacia K. Parker is the first episode in the Rebel Princess serial. Please take note that this story is due to be told over 10 “episodes”. Each episode is a small section of the story that will be concluded in the final one.
This is the first time I have a read a book in this format and I wasn’t sure how I was going today feel. But whether it is the story or this authors writing style not sure but I was blown away by how good it was. It feels like I have been given just a snippet of what is to come and it has left me desperate for the next episode.
The whole world that has been created is interesting and unique. I really found myself connecting with the characters and with what was happening.
And while I can see how for some it might be frustrating to have to wait for the next part but for me it has only served to whet my appetite. I’m sure the wait will be worth it!

Squall Line (The Inland Seas Series Book One) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Karyn Taylor

Squall Line (The Inland Seas #1)Squall Line by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Squall Line is the first book in The Inland Seas series by Gwyn McNamee. Having read several books by this author before, I had high hopes for this book and the author definitely lived up to my expectations.
Although this is a contemporary romance novel, this book had so much action and suspense too. I was gripped into the story from the very first page and hooked right up to the end wondering how Warwick and his team were going to survive and escape the wrath of the evil Arturo.
The sexual chemistry which simmers between Warwick and Grace is compelling and you can’t help get drawn into the angst between the 2 of them.
I loved the other guys in Warwick’s team. They were not just secondary characters, they added so much to the story and I look forward to getting to know these guys better in the rest of this series.
I have to make one comment about the ending…WTF!! There better be more of Grace and Warwick in the remaining books in this series as there is one ‘little’ question I need the answer to. NOW!

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was very excited to see this book! This is the third in the series. I would recommend reading the other two books before this one. It’s not necessary but there is a lot of reference to stuff that happened in them. In this one Dahlia and Creed are searching for whoever is leaving body parts all over the city. Yes I said body parts! Her sidekick Evans is back helping her all he can. Plus doing all those sidekick activities while looking for his sister.

This is a fast moving story full of action. It’s easy to read and follow along. The characters are full of zest and that Dahlia can wield a weapon. I have to say I was happy to see Coen in here. He is always so mysterious and sexy. The story answered many questions that arose in the last two stories.
On a side note I love that cover and the title. Both fit the story perfectly!

CultCult by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an AMAZING read!! I was drawn in from the very first word and I didn’t put the book down until I had devoured it entirely. I have really enjoyed this series so far but the author really took it to another level with this third book. I loved all the non-stop action and the twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat and my eyes glued to the pages, pages that I couldn’t turn fast enough. I loved Dianna and Anders and seeing them work together to solve the case in this story. The authors writing is excellent, the pace and flow of the story are perfect for the story. Cult is one of those stories that you actually cannot wait to read again, which for me doesn’t happen very often.
This story may be on the shorter side but believe me it is not short on anything at all! An outstanding 5 star read and I cannot wait to read more from this author again in the future.

Enemies of the Desert (Silent Secrets Series Book 3) by Lisette Kristensen

5 Stars

I totally devoured this book in less than an hour and hated when it ended. I have to start with I don’t normally read this type of genre but when I picked up the first of this series it hooked me within a few pages and here I am now totally invested in all of these characters.

This author has a way of taking a genre that normally holds no interest for me and keeps me somewhat confused and made it as easy to read and understand as some of my favorite genres.

You really must read all of these in order to understand the complete story and to understand Blackbird and how she got where she is and to just completely fall in love with her and admire her strength, I love how she is holding on to that small piece of herself that allows a bit of emotion to still enter in. I love her determination and totally understand her need for revenge even if it consumes her and goes against orders.

These stories all flow so smoothly and i actually wish they were all longer and I don’t know if there’s more coming but I’m praying there is, there’s more stories to tell and Halo completely fascinates me and I would love more about her and of course Blackbird and Adam.

Awesome book, Awesome Series, by an Amazing writer.

Loved It!!

Act I: Seed On Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 1) by Michele Sims – Review by Maura Harper

Act I: Seed On Fire (Moore Family Saga)Act I: Seed On Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

ACT 1: SEED ON FIRE is the first book in the “Moore Family Saga”. This is a multidimensional story with several story lines running at the same time.

The writing was very detailed and it is obvious the author plotted the story rather than writing a stream of consciousness. The story flows from beginning to end in a slow, even pace even though there is A LOT going on.

Because this is a spoiler free review I will not give specifics yet I will say that the whole thing was a bit over the top. Each story line on its own would be a decent read (dysfunctional sibling relationships, secret societies, stereotypical characters) but put together in such a detailed way had me.speeding through most of the book. At around 53% I almost DNF but really wanted to see how it all concluded.

I always always appreciate an author putting their ideas on paper. This book is well edited, had no plot holes and a very defined beginning, middle and end.

Beachcomber Enemy: a Romantic Thriller (Beachcomber Investigations Book 10) by Stephanie Queen – Review by Emily Walsh

Beachcomber EnemyBeachcomber Enemy
By: Stephanie Queen
My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Enemy by Stephanie Queen was an action packed, fast pace thriller that had me hooked form start to finish.

The latest instalment in the Beachcomber Investigations series, it was a blast right out of the gate. This book hit the ground running and it kept my attention right until the last page was flipped. I like these types of opening, that get your blood flowing, and the plot going right away. It makes for an exciting read, and on that keeps you, as I said, flipping the pages.

Dane and Shana are in danger, and that danger comes from Shana’s past. I loved the flip script, as at first it presented like it would be about Dane. The only thing I didn’t like was how over protective Dane was, I mean, I get it, your loved one is in danger, but man, that was a bit too much, and it almost risked their relationship. I mean Shana is a kickass woman, skilled and strong. There was a disconnect there, and it did take away from the story.

Overall this book was a wicket read, with a solid complex plot, mystery, action and movie worthy choreography, I’m looking forward to more books from this series. So to end, this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a quick read where we get to see all our friends from the past books. This one is focused on Robin. Remember her? She is a minion to a low level demon. She always has done what she has been told. Except this time she doesn’t want to….what will happen to her?

This isn’t my first book by this author or in this series. The writing is spot on with her other stories. The characters are good continuations along with a bit of fun. The story flows nicely and it’s fun to find out about secondary characters. Im glad Robin got her story. I always wondered why she became a minion. You can easily read this as a stand alone or start at the beginning of the series for some Paranormal fun.

L.D. Rose has done it again, Vermilion Lies has been another excellent addition to the Order of the Senary series. It was a fast paced read, that left me on the edge of my seat, wondering what could happen next. With each book in this series, L.D. Rose creates more characters that really stand out and tell their story and keep it flowing. I was totally hooked with this book, i didn’t want to put this read down. Dax and Cindel have an intense and undeniable connection that i found real. This book had romance, danger, action and suspense, and was written in a way that made it mentally visual and as though you was there living out the story with the characters. I highly recommend this book, but this is also a series that shouldn’t be missed!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series!!!! Dianna and Anders, now married, take on a cult that is taking college girls. Dianna finds herself in quite the predicament, which causes her to think about her future in the Agency. Cate was quite the surprise for me in this book. I would love to see her in other books. This series has action, tough women, hot men and they are just so well written. I am such a fan!

Cult (Feisty Lawyers Book 3) by Seelie Kay – Review by Erica Fish

CultCult by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cult is the third book in the Feisty Lawyers series by Seelie Kay and by far my favorite in the series. In all reality, these books are my favorite genre and story lines. Seelie Kay is one of my favorite authors. Her ability to draw me in to the story with her portrayal of the characters make me feel like I am right with them. I feel close to Agent Diana Murphy like I could take her place if need be. This story is about the President’s goddaughter. She is missing and he has called Murphy and Mark to go in and take her back to safety. This takes some twists and turns and the simple “grab and go” turns into let’s hope everyone makes it out safely. Enjoy this story and keep your eyes open to enjoy the book even more.

Beachcomber Enemy: a Romantic Thriller (Beachcomber Investigations Book 10) by Stephanie Queen – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Beachcomber EnemyBeachcomber Enemy by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Enemy by Stephanie Queen is Book 10 of the Beachcomber Investigations Series. This book had me hooked from the very first line. The author gave just enough romance and action to keep just about any reader interested. The characters played a big part of why this book got 5 stars from me.

Dane and Shana are an awesome couple. They have a certain kind of relationship that you don’t see everyday. They love each other so much and try to protect each other no matter what is at stake. Dane is a total Alpha but Shana is such a strong character that really doesn’t need anyone to protect her.

When Dane comes home smelling gas, he goes I same trying to find Shana and get her out of the shack. They make it far enough away that they are not in danger when something happens. They fake their deaths and run to close friends did for help. They think they know who is after them. It’s someone from Shana’s past. They make a plan to go incognito to their funeral to try to find the suspect. However, Dane has other plans. He doesn’t want Shana anywhere near there and tries to keep her away. He should know by now that Shana does what she want, when she wants. She is not a delicate flower. When Dane and Shana find out some other information like where the suspect(s) are hiding, this causes even more trouble. Will the good guys win this round or are the bad guys to far ahead in the game. There is so much action going on, I didn’t want to put the book down. I absolutely loved this book.

Enemies of the Desert (Silent Secrets Series Book 3) by Lisette Kristensen – Review by Stefanie Carney

Enemies of the DesertEnemies of the Desert by Lisette Kristensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It could be that I have gotten used to the writing, it could be that I have developed a fascination with the characters or it could simply be this book was just pure entertainment that I didn’t want it to stop. Since this picks up exactly where the previous book left off, I felt as though I never stopped reading the story. I was enthralled from the first word and it went by way too quickly for me. I’m really starting to appreciate this author and I am excited to see what she does next. If you are looking for a thrill ride to help you escape for a little while, this is the book for you.
