Obsessed (Lila Casey Series Book 1) by J Collins – Review by Erica Fish

Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 (Lila Casey Series)Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 by J. Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Obsessed by J Collins is my first book by this author. She kept my interest throughout her story. This is a paranormal vampire story. J Collins has a new way of spinning her story about her vampires. It is a fun read when you do not see the same topic of vampires over and over. J Collins amazingly spins a great tale in a vampire world. Her character Lila has found vampire fiction interesting. She was able to get a way within her book covers until Adam, a real vampire meets up with her. Adam takes Lila into the world of vampires where everything starts to become real. Will Adam be able to protect Lila or will a dark vampire take her away?

Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 (Lila Casey Series)Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 by J. Collins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Obsessed: Lila Casey Book 1 (Lila Casey Series) by J. Collins, 4 stars.

Lila was trying to fight her fear of heights by climbing the stairs in an office building she’s fascinated with. Before she heads back down, she has a panic attack and flees to the closest place to sit down. These aren’t her type of people, but she doesn’t care about that. There she runs into a man whom she can’t stop thinking about. She loves vampire romance and fiction books, is that why she thought she saw fangs? But this is the least of her worries. Turns out there is something even worse after her. Can Adam help her or should she just give up now?

I really enjoyed this book. Lila is a fun, quirky character who really makes this book sensational. But a book can’t rely on that alone. Adam and the secondary characters add variety to this story. The storyline itself has lots of suspense and twists and turns along the way. Lila doesn’t know who to trust or just what to do. I could not put this book down and cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

If you like vampire fiction with a quirky main character, this book is for you.

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton. This is the 3rd installment of the Madeline Dawkins series and it doesn’t disappoint. Madeline a party planner and private investigator thinks things are rocking along same as ever when she gets 2 inquiries on the same day for a fairly normal missing persons case. But there is nothing normal about either of these cases. Two beautiful sisters are missing from Minnesota, one is an estranged heiress who has never touched her 8 figure fortune. More than enough reason for someone to kidnap her. When Mike Delaney, Madeline’s love interest and business partner heads to LA to search for his cousin’s missing girlfriend he finds out this case is a lot more than what it seems. Its downright dangerous. Will Mike and Madeline make it out of this case alive and with the 2 missing women or will the case finally be their last? I love these books and this one was no exception!

A Protector’s Touch: A New Adult College Romance & Romantic Suspense Novel by Parker Sinclair is a book that will certainly touch on sensitive topics but is also one that will completely captivate you.
This story is a true story of overcoming your past and finding happiness. It is one of those books that pulls you in without evening trying and keeps you reading right to the very end. I instantly fell in love with these characters. There isn’t one thing specifically that I can say made me like them but everything as a whole just worked so well.
Although this isn’t the first book that I have read by this author it definitely has to be my favourite. I love how I just got lost in it. This is a book that I would highly recommend and an author I will definitely be reading more of in the imminent future.

J.Collins bring us Obsessed. This is a brand new author for me, and what a brilliant introduction it has been. I loved this book from start to finish, its a paranormal vampire read, which is one of my favourite genres to read. This read was suspenseful, it had danger and action and everything else you need for an epic vampire read!
This author has created a brilliant storyline with Lila & Adam as our brilliant characters. These characters totally made this book even more enjoyable as you couldn’t help but connect and like each character in their own certain way. I was engaged throughout and it kept me turning the pages, this is an author and series that I can’t wait to carry on reading. But until then I highly recommend you all to read this book!

Murder Creek by Jane Suen – Review by Liz Vrchota

Murder CreekMurder Creek by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have yet to find a Jane Suen novel that I have not absolutely loved. Murder Creek is no deviation from the rule. Jane Suen writes with such vibrancy and emotion that I always feel as if I have been on an emotional and physical journey when I have finished one of her novels. In Murder Creek I was right with Eve, our MC, as she weeded her way through the mystery and intrigue that is this book. Her personality is written so that I felt as if I was reading about a real actual woman that had indeed been through all of this. I even felt this girls terror with those grisly nightmares that she suffers through. About half way through I found myself disregarding the 1 am time and pushing onward to figure out what was going to come of this. I am so glad that I did and it was worth every moment of sleep deprivation. I won’t be giving you any more details than that though. You will have to take my word for it that this a book you can’t miss out on and one-click right now. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. I am now going to wait with baited breath for the next little gem that Suen produces.

Bowled: Facing the Yorker of Love (To Love a Sportsman Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Liz Vrchota

Bowled (To Love a Sportsman Book 1)Bowled by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bowled: Facing the Yorker of Love was a fun little read that I scooped up and devoured in just one afternoon. I normally adore all things sports romance, odd since I’m not a major sports fan, but something about them just has all the right stuff to make a delectable read. I have read a few of Pamela Q. Fernandes’s works in the past but must say, this has to be my favorite of hers. You can see the growth in her writing and this was just a much smoother flow than the last few of hers I have read.

Rose and Matthew both have been through the wringer of bad relationships. Neither of them saw a fresh new romance on the horizon but when they meet and things start to fall into place the connection and attraction is undeniable. Will they be able to weather all that life throws at their new relationship? I enjoyed these two and reading all about the adventures they find themselves in. I am looking forward to seeing what will come in book two as well!

4 Stars

This is my second book by this author and I enjoyed every page, although somewhat predictable in a lot of ways it was still fun to read how this author put it all together.

Who doesn’t love reading about a hot fireman out to rescue the jilted blogger? I loved the chemistry between these two and I really liked the flow of the book, I read it in one sitting and was actually kind of sad when it was over. I loved the hospital scene I thought that was great and I so totally despised Georgia’s family, I literally wanted to climb into the book and smack them

All in all, I really enjoyed this story and will be looking for more from this author.

Bowled (To Love a Sportsman Book 1)Bowled by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bowled: Facing the Yorker of Love was a great 5 star read and book one in the To Love a Sportsman series. I was pulled in right from the beginning.

This is Rose and Mathew’s story. These two originally meet with Rose tweets something that challenges Mathew. Mathew steps up and accepts the challenge.

Rose goes to New York to see her boyfriend, when she sees him he is absolutely horrible to her. She ends up with some bruises inside and out and is confused as to why he’s acting like this.

Rose is staying at Mathew’s home in New York, Mathew can tell something isn’t right. There is something about her that draws him in and he wants more with her. He tries to cheer her up by taking her out on the town and showing her New York. Just when you think things are going great a huge twist is thrown in and everything goes south quickly. Mathew feels lied to once again by a woman and quickly pushes Rose away. He was terrible to her, my heart broke during this scene.

Rose did everything she could to keep herself busy and her mind off of Mathew, she finished her education and became a part of an election team with the goal of a possible chair on the ministry of education. What she doesn’t realize is that Mathew has been keeping tabs on her.

There is so much more to this story. It was so back and forth I didn’t know how to feel at times.
My emotions were all over the place anger, hurt and LOL Pamela Q. Fernandes has a great writing style that I really enjoy. You feel like your right there with the characters. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story and I hope to see more from some of them. If you’re looking for a read that throws you twists and turns this is the read for you. I look forward to reading more from this author and series.

5 +++++ Stars

Oh My Gosh I loved this book!! I found myself reading so fast and trying to slow down to make it last longer. This is my first book by this author and I absolutely savored every word.

I love suspense novels, especially ones that move along and waste no time having me on the edge of my seat. I also love how its obvious its one person so you know it cant be that person and have it all figured out that it’s another person only to find out you are so so wrong. The way this author twisted this story this way then that way had my mind totally screwed up..Which was awesome and terrifying, and completely psychologically satisfying.

I sincerely felt like I was in this book, walking right alongside these characters watching this all play out and that ending…I just don’t know what to say..

I will be reading more from this author like as soon as I can and I hope that anyone that reads this review as vague as it is will run and one click this book because it is everything you ever wanted in a psychological thriller and much more.

Amazingly Awesome!

Return is the second book in the Rewind series by Rowan Shaw. This book can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading Rewind first as that is where we meet Raphael for the first time. This book started out a little slow for me, but really made up for it by the end. This is Raphael and Adrein’s story. I love the witty banter between the two of them, and how their story comes together. The love scenes are sizzling hot. I highly recommend this book, series and author. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair is a new adult/college romantic suspense. I have read other stories by this author and this was a joy to read and I liked how it stood alone from the genre/types I’ve previous read from Parker Sinclair. Strong and amazing characters are delivered in this story despite the limited number of pages provided. April is magnificent in this story despite the difficult struggles that have occurred. I found this story remarkable and touching and emotionally charged creating that full dynamic that is needed in these type of stories.

Bowled: Facing the Yorker of Love (To Love a Sportsman Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes is a sports romance. This story features two characters that each have a past that has shaped how they handle and approach their present. Mathew is a star on and off the field, but when life deals him a hand he doesn’t exactly want, we follow how he takes this turn of events and maneuvers these. Rose is cautious in almost all things and the way she holds herself, separates her from so many others. This makes her shine so brightly and it is about to shift both her world and Mathew’s full tilt! This story was a great read and Pamela Q. Fernandes is a talented author!

Obsessed was a creative and fascinating paranormal romance novel. It has an easy storyline and easily Carrie’s the reader along. I loved Lila’s quirky personality and her habit of rambling. She was very entertaining and funny. Adam Drake began as a mysterious individual but I easily saw a different side of him as the story progressed. It was easy to notice the difference in culture of the main characters of what I expected when I first started reading. I loved that it was set in the UK and that the author brought out the typical dialogue and habits of individuals who live there. This was really a good read!

She in turn makes a huge sacrifice in Hope’s of prevailing over her enemy.
For being such a short read I was highly impressed with the imagery and character development in this story. It was easy to visualize every setting and put myself in the story itself. I can’t wait to read more in this magnificent series.

Wayward by Via Mari a four-star read that will make you feel the dance. This is the first in the Billionaire Bodyguards series, and it shows promise of being another sublime series from this author. If you read the Prestian series you may see a couple of people popping up, but you don’t need to have read that one before you read this. Sasha Koslov is a complex character, I struggled with her at times as she was so complex, but once I got to know her, she really shined. Her relationship with Jay was equally as complex, but that is a different story all together. There is a great build in this story, and you will be turning the pages quicker and quicker, just to see what happens next. Bring on number two, I can’t wait.

Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed RomanceFurbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance by R. O’Leary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance is the first book in the Raven Falls Cursed Romances Series by R. O’Leary. Reading this book was a huge risk for me as this is a genre I’ve never read before and I was really worried that I wouldn’t be able to get into the book or enjoy it. Well, all my worrying was unfounded, I absolutely loved this book.
Louisa has moved to Raven Falls for a new start in life. She’s not liking her new life very much when things take a very unusual turn. She awakes one morning to find Jack, the adorable dog that she’s taken home from her work in a vet’s surgery, has turned into a very handsome, naked man in her bed. Needless to say she doesn’t believe this at first as how can a dog turn into a man!
Louisa is soon drawn into Jack’s world of shifters and the paranormal and has to rethink her whole outlook on life. I loved the characters of Jack and Louisa. Louisa is witty and sassy and has a smart answer for everything, whereas Jack is just so sweet and adorable, well except when he turns into a 7 foot monster!
This story is fast paced and full of suspense. As well as the growing romance between Jack and Louisa, the storyline is intriguing and had me gripped the whole way through.
I’m so glad I took the risk and read this book. I look forward to reading more from this series.

I love a good vampire book, this one took me a bit to connect with, not sure what it was whether the characters or the actual story, but it picked up rather quickly and I loved the unique storyline. I definitely fell in love with the “be careful what you wish for” kind of idea and all of the vampires drew me in immediately, well almost all of them LOL

Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed RomanceFurbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance by R. O’Leary
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a crazy laugh out loud story. It is full of antics and things that make you go”WHA? Did she just do that?” I can see why Jack is so enamored with Louisa. The way she acts just puts a smile on my face. Her singing in the rotted out house? Such a wonderful add!! Don’t worry there are many more crazy things that happen to Louisa or Jack. Even their language to each other puts a smile on my face.

Jack is a thoughtful, kind, charming guy who happens to sprout fur. Oh I think I forgot charismatic and sexy with abs like a washboard. I was surprised at how light Jack was considering his job in the Den. I thought it would make him dark and broody. The lightness in him does help transmit his golden boy looks though. While he feels a connection to Louisa he is not…NOT her mate. The more he tells himself that doesn’t make it true. Louisa is sassy and smart and I love her whole hair issue. She seemed so easy going about the whole shifter thing. She doesn’t deny her feelings for Jack which is nice.

The secondary characters add just as much fun and laughter to this story as the main characters. I felt they deserve a mention as they are well rounded and I can’t wait to see their stories.

I was not a fan of the Epilogue simply because it gave away ending information for the next book. This is a first time author for me and I really enjoyed her writing style. Although the book did seem a bit long and at times brought in characters and dropped them..never to be seen again. Overall I loved the story and the characters and have already purchased the second in the series.

I really enjoyed this book! The cover isn’t much to look at in all honesty but the story was a great read! I found I was easily hooked in to what was going on and I read it in one sitting. It was a good opening book to this series and I am looking forward to seeing where the author takes it! I liked that I had to take a bit of time to get to know and understand the main character Lila; she definitely matured as the story progressed.
The author brought a little bit of humour to the story which I wasn’t expecting but really enjoyed! The pace and flow of the story was really good and I found it very easy to read – the authors attention to detail was also great. I could imagine YA and paranormal romance readers really enjoying this story.
I am definitely really looking forward to reading more from this series and seeing how the characters develop even more!

Children Of The Future by Jane Suen – Review by Anastasia Dodson

Children Of The FutureChildren Of The Future by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Children Of The Future was a very different book than I am used to reading but it was interesting. The book is about a school bus driver named Telly. He discovers one day that the children that ride his bus have gone missing, with the exception of one boy (billy) who was hidden away in the cabinet on the bus. He takes it upon himself to follow the clues and with the help of Billy, he searches for the missing kids. Telly is the main characters and he is supposed to be in his 20s but for some reason I couldn’t not picture him being that old. He seemed very juvenile to me. Regardless this was an interesting book. The book is YA and I think older kids and young teens would enjoy this book. There is mystery and suspense and clues that you follow as the reader that help lead to the missing kids.

It is a quick and easy read from beginning to end. The characters are quickly developed and the story well plotted.

Alex: An Eidolon Black Ops Novel
by Maddie Wade
5 stars

This was a great read right from the beginning. Maddie Wade is quickly becoming a must read author for me no matter what she puts out. This is the first book in a new series Eidolon Black Ops.

This is Alex and Evelyn’s story.
These two were childhood sweethearts that were engaged to be married. When Evelyn went missing and thought to be dead, things changed for Alex.

We jump ahead 15 years, when there is an order made by the Monarchy for the elimination of Siren (Evelyn), the Black Ops are given the assignment. Siren was a member of an all women group of assassins. The leader of the Eidolon Black Ops ends up sending Alex in to protect Siren and get to the bottom of who is framing her. Now that she is back in his life Alex is determined to keep her safe.

Now that they are reunited will they get back what they had before? Can he keep her safe? Will they solve the mystery behind everything?

There is so much more to this great read. There’s action, romance, twists, turns and so much more. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was coming next. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. Maddie does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing, I look forward to reading more from her and this series.

Too Hot to Handle is the third book in The Catch Series. I was drawn in from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down till the end. Georgia and Tony .She is a online blogger who just found out her fiance married the Mayor’s daughter. She sets out to win him back in the process she meets Tony, he’s a firefighter who takes her home because she was to drunk and he didn’t know where she lived. Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Emily Walsh

Girl TrapGirl Trap
By: Cynthia Hamilton
My Rating: 3 of 5 stars

Girl Trap (Madeline Dawkins #3) by Cynthia Hamilton was a gripping suspenseful read that kept me reading.

The third book in this series, I was excited to get my hands on it. Now this is a continuation series, so I highly suggest reading the other two books or you will not be able to get the full impact of this story.

Going into this book I think I might have set the bar a little too high, as I very much enjoyed the other two books, but I found this one was a little off. Right away I got that feeling, there was a little back tracking with the character development, and well, at this point in the of story the MC should be solidified, and we should be seeing the results. It wasn’t like that for the whole book, as the second half was pretty great, it just felt like there was two stories in one. I also found that there was some filler, and over explaining that made the flow dull and a little, meh.

Outside of this, this book still had the same suspenseful feelings as the other two. The main detail was on point, and pulls you in. The overall plot is pulling, gripping and has you second guessing some details, making it fun and engaging. This book has a lot of potential, and I think it just needs some polish, and a little more direction, to make it pop like the other two. I will warn you this books does end on a sort of cliff hanger, so I am excited that there’s going to be another book.

So with all that said, this wasn’t a bad read and I did quite enjoy it. It was just lacking a little, and frankly I think it was more a bridge to get to that forth book. So to end, this books gets my recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Happy Reading

Girl Trap (A Madeline Dawkins Mystery Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is a four star novel. This is the third novel in the series and I have loved getting to know the character of Madeline Dawkins. Madeline is an event planner and a private eye. Such a weird combination, but it works for her. This novel touches on some very real and traumatizing material such as sex trafficking. I love that the author was not afraid to publish this novel with this raw material in it because people need to be more aware that these kinds of horrors are happening and how to help stop them. I also love how raw the character of Madeline is. She is real and someone you can relate to. Sometimes authors put characters in books that are hard to relate to because of too much good or too much bad happening to them but Madeline isn’t like that.

This was an excellent second book to Rewind. Raphael and Adrien are wonderfully written characters and their story is beautiful. I also really liked the glimpse of Enzo and Florian to get a taste of how their relationship is working out.

Raphael is such a strong man. I didn’t think at first that he would be able to follow all of the rules set in place when moving into Adrien’s apartment, but he did even though he broke the biggest rule but kept it to himself. He struggles a lot with his feelings for Adrien but manages to suppress them so that he can continue living in the apartment and has somewhere to sleep.

Adrien broke my heart. His whole story is heart wrenching from his family issues to how young he was when he started his current job. I can understand him completely not wanting to give up or let anything interfere with his job because he needs the money and never wants to have to live on the streets again. At the same time my heart hurts because if you finally found love, wouldn’t you do anything to keep it?

The secondary characters are just as wonderful, I love how they have Adrien’s back through it all even if it may mean they can no longer do business with him, as long as he was happy. An overall fantastic book, I would highly recommend. I can’t wait to see more from this author!
