This is the 2nd book in the Nurse Morgan series and let me just say it was as good if not better than the first book. I just absolutely love Morgan. She is such a determined person and yet she is so unsure of herself when it comes to relationships. I love that she is such an imperfect person with her messy eating and insecurities. Caleb is so patient with her and tries to do anything to assist her. Every character in this book is so well developed. You can actually feel the flow of how a hospital works. The relationships between the living and the dead are so complex and wonderful to read about.

This is the only book in the Firehouse 13 series that I have read and all I can say is that I need to run, not walk to get the first 3 books in this series! Solomon Fox is a local hero to everyone except himself. Yes he saved 2 kids that will be able to live their life, but it cost him his career. Now what is he supposed to do? His body has healed from the burns but his mind has not. Ember is 11 years younger than Sol and is still working at the firehouse he retired from. She has held Sol in a special place for a while. He was an inspiration to her as well as her mentor in the department. She sees him struggle. Can she help him in finding where he belongs since he can no longer be a firefighter?

Oh my lanta this book! I adore the point of view changes and seeing into the minds of both Nathan and Holly. I love Holly’s personality – a little shy, a little sass, and a hint of fire – and the way she will stand up for her friends, even when she’s scared. I enjoy the complexity of Nathan – even as he surrounds himself with people who seem to lack that same complexity – and his relationship with his family. Most of all though, I really like the realistic way that high school is represented. This book brings to mind those by Sarah Dessen with a relatable high school or college age person, the real problems they face, and their relationships that are built on truth even when it hurts. So if you enjoy reading Sarah Dessen, I absolutely recommend this book!

What a fantastic book! This was the first novel I’ve ever read by Jacob Paul Patchen, and I was definitely not disappointed. The novel centers around Sergeant JP Grimm and the mental and emotional war wounds he brings back from his tour in the Middle East. He feels extreme guilt for the things that occurred out there but bottles them all up and refuses to talk about them or seek help for his PTSD. Eventually, he drives away his wife and son when they no longer feel safe around him and his personality changes, and he becomes suicidal. Throughout the book, I kept mentally cheering him on. Wishing he’d just talk to someone…anyone!
“No Pistol Tastes the Same (PTSD Disaster Book 1)” most definitely hit me in my heart. Not just for the characters…for myself too. My younger brother served as an SSG and MP with the US Army during Operation Enduring Freedom. He committed suicide in 2013 at the age of 25. Jacob Paul Patchen’s novel gave me a glimpse of what may or may not have gone through my brothers mind. Though this novel was very triggering for me at times emotionally, it was a great read and a much needed read. For that, I thank the author. I look forward to reading more upcoming novels by him.

This checked a lot of boxes for me on what some of my favorite types of reads are. Small town, drama, suspense, romance of course and many other things. I want to move to this town! I have always wanted to live in a small town where everyone knows everyone and just a sense of community.
Oh these characters, first their names, im a sucker for uncommon names and these took the prize for that. Their chemistry and just overall being made me relate to them so quickly and deeply. I wont spoil anything thats not already said in the synopsis but this is a great read!

I loved this story of Jonas and Mackenzie!! This is book 4 in the series, and I do recommend reading this series in order as the story includes previous characters from the other books. I can say I LOVE all of these books in this series, but this story is my favorite.
Jonas is a player, ladies man, smart and arrogant. He is a Titan. When his hotel is in need of a new chef for opening up a restaurant within the hotel, there is many players in a competition to get a life changing contract. Mackenzie is vying for a chance to win the contract, but not realize that the owner is Jonas. Playing a little cat and mouse game is what Mackenzie thinks she wants to play with Jonas…but who would be truly the winner when Jonas already knows the game. The past of comes back around for Mackenzie….hurt, betrayal and secrets all because of one man. Can Mackenzie let go of the past and move forward with Jonas?
This story flowed so easily and hard to put down….hot sizzling moments, secrets, past hurts and some very personal issues that hit home. This story of Jonas and Mackenzie was fantastic!

I didn’t know what to expect when I started this book but I definitely enjoyed it.
Holly is the new girl at school. Almost immediately she can tell who the popular kids are and she finds out pretty quick what type of people they are. Just from her observations m, she assumes they are all alike. That is until she lays into Nathan and then inadvertently learns his secret. Nathan will do anything to keep his secret. He’s honestly confused that Holly doesn’t just blab it right away but he will keep the secret from getting out. Holly and Nathan start spending more time together and things evolve from there. A good lesson in things are more than as they appear.
I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down! Holly is a contradiction but in a relatable way. She’s sassy and self assured as that voice in her head but when it comes to actually standing up for herself she’s insecure and quiet. At first I didn’t like Nathan but you quickly learn there is more than meets the eye with him and he grew on me during this roller coaster of a book. I definitely recommend!
This book comes with a Trigger warning, for anyone who has seen action. I haven’t seen action but I feel like I have by reading this. It makes me really sad for those veterans who are unable to receive the help that they really deserve. This book is probably a stepping stone for some one who needs to reach out and get some help.

This was interesting read. I wasn’t too into it when I first started reading it, but as I kept on it really picked up and I enjoyed it by the end. One thing that really made this difficult for me to get into, well two things, is that one it read to me like a Twilight fan fiction kind of novel. I almost felt like I was back in Forks with the vampires until I got several chapters in and was able to separate the two. The second thing was all the nicknames. One every once awhile was ok but Holly, the female main character, just kept on with the nickname/name calling and it’s ine aspect I personally didn’t enjoy. Overall this was enjoyable read, and while it wasn’t my favorite I would definitely read more from this author in the future!
This is such a cute book that tackles some very important topics. Jake is an adorable dog, with sweet, adorable friends. They go on adventures, play and make new friends. However, Jake and his friends also deal with some pretty big real-life issues like worrying, fear, being different from our friends, disabilities, sharing and how important it is to be kind to everyone. The author does a great job of using animals and rhyming to keep kids interested. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and so colorful. I highly recommend this book.

Though listed as a fantasy and with some fantasy components this book I’d say far more heavy on historical fiction. If you want to learn about the Vikings and the 9th century with a little fantasy tossed in this is got you. The Vikings are about to go to war with the Saxons… in a multi pov you learn about Cub and his father against Alfred the Great…. Get a glimpse of domestic life with Kara as she flees her home with her mother and siblings and fulfill your wish for fantasy genre wit .Finn the spirit walker and his latest opponent! There is so much detail in this story the Author makes you feel like you are living it!

As it happens with teens, feelings develop and this book became more emotional than I would have expected.

Body Checked is the second book in the Astoria Bay Thunder series by C.J. Cartwright. This is a frenemies to lovers contemporary sports romance with hockey, banter, humour, chemistry, sizzle, emotion, angst, push-pull, trust issues, and a little drama. This is Bridger and Tia’s story, whom we met in the first book (as secondary characters). Bridger is known for being quite the player, both on and off the ice. Tia has sworn off the playboy types for good. But the chemistry between them is intense and the sparks fly. Add in a wild weekend that results in a bit of an obsession, a few tricky little feelings that creep in, and some push-pull angst- and we have captivating story! Can’t wait for more Astoria Bay Thunder! Happy reading!

Little Mermaid for the next generation. A star-crossed lover’s tale on several accounts. Maris and Kasper, the Mermaid princess and the human man who has given up everything to find a cure for his brother. Pasha and Ryn, a low caste mermaid who’s never understood why she is so despised and a merman of royal blood. This tale has betrayal, magic, and lover’s drama. It’s definitely for a slightly more mature audience as there are some scenes that get steamy, but it doesn’t dip into the full erotic. It’s a beautiful balance that I feel will definitely appeal to the High-school crowd and beyond. With an amazing cast of well written characters, and scenery that makes you want to head for Haiti, this is one beautifully written tale. I can’t wait to see what the other 11 books will be!

Victoriously Yours is the fourth book in the Titans of Manhattan series by Anise Storm. I have loved this series from the get-go, so it was always a given that I would be diving into this book as soon as it hit my kindle. This story is an engrossing contemporary romance with a second chances element, as well as enemies to lovers, painful past history, hurt, tension, chemistry, sparks, sizzle, emotion, major secrets, angst, revenge, and dramatic revelations. The story was heart-wrenching at time, where I really felt for both the characters. Some of the subject-matter could be considered triggers for some readers, such as mental health issues, addiction, and humiliation- so be warned. This is not a light and fluffy read. These two have been through the wringer. Though, I have to be honest, even though Jonas has intrigued me throughout the series and I wanted to know more, he didn’t immediately impress me here. He was a real douche there for a while. A bit of an a$(k)hole and ‘player’ of the first order. While I was reading, I began to worry that I would be left hating him. But as the story progressed and I learned more about him, he began to change my opinion, and I understood him so much better. And by the end, he and I were good… Jonas isn’t my favourite Titan, but that’s because he has some really stiff competition in that department lol, but I am really glad we got his story. I loved Kenzie right away… and really felt for everything she had gone through. I just wanted to hug her so tight. Life is cruel sometimes. So glad she got her second chance at finding happiness. Colour me hooked on this series! So, bring on Book #5, “Scandalously Yours”- I need it now! Happy reading!

I love the different quotes at the beginning of each chapter! This was a great read that really digs into the characters and their feelings. You get to read from Holly and Nathan’s perspective which I really enjoyed. For being young they have some pretty adult and intense situations to overcome. I love how detailed the author was with their writing, it really helps you get into the story. I will say there are some pretty adult and very descriptive scenes that may not be ok for all readers/ages.

Holy Viking adventure! This book really immerses you in the time period by delving into the surroundings and the way people lived. It was hard to connect to the characters, but I think that is because I did not realize this was a second in series when I picked up, so it was pretty clear that I am missing some background. None the less, the adventure was still easy enough to follow and there was plenty going on in the story to keep you interested. While not my typical read (very much a historical fantasy), I enjoyed the book and will be picking up the first one to see what I missed. Perhaps I will even continue with the series! If you are a fan of Vikings, historical reads, and adventure, definitely give this book a shot!

High school, full of bullies, cliques, and doing your very best to fit in. The book starts with Holly who just started out at a new high school. She wants to get in with the cool kids, like any girl her age would, but she quickly finds out that teenagers can be cruel. Nathan is a jerk, but there is so much more than meets the eye. Intriguing from the start, you find out about what Nathan is really hiding. His secrets lead to more between him and Holly, and the story that evolves is one that will keep the pages turning almost of their own volition. The story had its slow parts, but in general, it was compelling enough to keep you invested. At the start, I thought it was going to be more focused on the bullying and I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. As the story moves forward, there is more to it. Takes you back to that young age where what your friends thought about you felt like the most important thing in the world. I recommend this book if you enjoy a clique high school dynamic, a web of secrets, and characters that have more depth to them then they let on!
Nathan, Holly, and the entire cast of characters are phenomenal in this story. The author took time to fully develop each character’s story, which makes the story all the more real. Nathan is trying his best to hide himself and his condition from the entire school. Unfortunately for him the new girl discovers his biggest fear. This story teaches us very quickly the power that a lie can have, and how continuing to hold that lie creates more lies, leading to destruction! This one gets a bit steamy so be forewarned!
Not too long ago we lost our dear cat, Butterscotch aka “Scottie”. He was my daughter’s therapy cat and best friend. As I read through the authors story and the lengths their family went through, I could easily identify the same emotions from our own journey. This book created a visceral response and helped me put into words the feelings I had with our pain when I was completely lost for words. It was well written and a very therapeutic read.

This is a 6 out of 5 stars for me!! I didn’t want this book series to end but WOW what a perfect ending! This band of brothers has been battling their father this entire time but none as fervently as the oldest son. Until the love of his life bursts into his life! While shie is very strong & capable, she has a wonderful capacity to understand & trust him. That is IF he lets her!! I highly, highly suggest reading the previous books before this page-turner. I will definitely follow Kells for her future masterpieces!

This book made me feel a whole range of emotions. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I read it very quickly and have spent a lot of time thinking about it, since. The last part of the book, while it offers the catalyst for the main character to heal and save his family/humanity, felt a little detached from the rest. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this read and haven’t gotten it out of my head, yet.
JP Grimm was deployed to Iraq. One day, his fellow soldiers were approached by a child that looked a startling amount like his young son. His appearance is what made JP pause, and thanks to that pause – the child bomber killed soldiers. JP comes home a broken man, intensely suffering from PTSD and having it destroy him and affecting everyone in his life. The last portion of the book introduces an electromagnetic activity. This activity allows an opportunity to save people and feel as though he redeems himself.
This can be very heavy at times. It is intense. It is emotional. It is raw. And it is utterly beautiful. Highly recommend this read.

It is the year 878 and the story of Thorfinn continues as he comes to terms with his forerunner status and everything that goes with it, but it isn’t smooth running, his brothers won’t come near him and rumours are spreading about him, so he goes to sea with his Uncle Karl on his Viking ship. Not everything goes to plan for him and he ;earns that he has to earn his passage on the ship, so he completes a quest for the mast troll when they pull into the last port before heading out to sea, this quest takes him under the estuary waters where he has to face a Kelp man and his nuggles.
Meanwhile, war has broken out with Wessex and the Agneson Clan have been called to march with the Great Viking Horde to face them, so all the able bodied men march towards the midlands and heed the battle cry, this includes Cub as he has now come of age and can join in the menfolk as they uphold their fealty to their Lords.
Back at home, the rest of the women and children of the families are keeping the homesteads running smoothly and awaiting news of their friends and family, while preparing for the seasons and the tasks at hand. For the youths left behind this includes training and chores, that is until one night when the Agneson homestead is attacked in the night, as a blood feud is acted upon through retaliatory action.
As all this happens, other nefarious plans are in the works further North where a werebear plans their revenge against Karl’s crew and the villagers they helped, but they are not alone, a dark elf has joined with them and strengthened their magic and fuelled their desperate thirst for vengeance.
Will the Agneson Clan succeed in their fight against the Danes of Wessex and return home? Can the womenfolk of the clan defend their homestead against the blood feud they are in the middle of? Will Thorfinn succeed in his quest and defeat the Kelp man and his nuggles? Will the clan of were-beasts and their dark elf complete their quest for revenge? Morgan is back in her second book. In this book, she is seeing ghosts everywhere she goes and one in particular, Esmeralda, is after her man. Morgan must figure out how to get rid of Esmeralda and what the other ghosts are up to. Opinion If you have not read the first book, there is a nice recap as part of chapter 1. While I would suggest reading book 1 first, it is unnecessary. The book itself is full of fun shenanigans from the ghosts. While some of them are a bit malicious, the rest left me wondering what it would be like to see ghosts on the daily. I personally enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the series.
