Doctor D’s Orderly Affair (Doctors of Eastport General) by C.A. King – Review by Katie Matthews

Doctor D's Orderly AffairDoctor D’s Orderly Affair by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this short read. I loved the characters, they were really down to earth and genuine. There were some very funny moments in the story especially with Emily and the fish! I loved Desmond – aka Dr D! Apart from his good looks he actually was a genuinely lovely person and my heart broke for him at certain points in the story. I loved the chemistry between him and Emily – they had a real connection. Emily was a really sweet and caring character too. I loved the banter between both the main characters and the secondary characters – it really felt I was reading about the lives of co-workers in a hospital! I really would have happily read a longer story with these characters and its definitely made me want more from this series! I have read a few books by this author now and it was really nice to read something different from her.
I 100% recommend this short steamy read and I can’t wait for more!

Journeys Through Collection: Volumes 1-3 by James Talisman – Review by Katie Matthews

Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3 by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Journeys Through collection was such a fantastic read! The box set contains three full length novels. I was instantly pulled into the stories through the author’s imaginative ad creative writing style. The storyline is complex but I really found that I was able to become fully absorbed into what I was reading. I’m not usually a fan of sci-fi stories but I did actually really enjoy this one and I am definitely looking forward to reading more!
The characters in the story were really interesting to read about, and being told from multiple points of view enabled me to begin to understand the role each of them played in the story. The story as whole was beautifully detailed and I could definitely tell how much work the author had out into the story.

All three books were great to read and you could see the difference in the writing over the three books, not that the writing was bad in anyway but each book was better than the one before in my opinion. The authors creativity really shone through in his writing and all three books were really enjoyable to read.

Road Rage (Outlaw Series Book 4) by Katrina Kantas – Review by Katie Matthews

Road Rage (OUTLAW, #4)Road Rage by Karina Kantas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oohh I love a good MC romance read and this book was right up my street! I was hooked from beginning to end and I definitely need to read the others in the series now! Gem was a brilliant character, I loved her for the moment I started reading about her. She was a pretty complex person but as her story progressed as did her character, she really was amazing to read about. It’s really refreshing to read about a female lead who holds her own and I think that it was I loved her so much, she’d been through so much that meant her life could have taken another path but she stayed strong!
A fantastic read and I’m pretty sure all MC romance lovers would love this book! I’m off to read more from this author now!!

Midnight Masquerade (The Brightly Sisters Book 1) by Halley Larkin – Review by Katie Matthews

Midnight Masquerade (The Brightley Sisters #1)Midnight Masquerade by Halley Larkin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an absolutely fantastic story! I loved every minute of it and I think I have definitely found a new author to love. I was completely captivated by what I was reading, the wonderful twists and turns in the characters’ lives had me turning the pages faster and faster just so I could find out what was going to happen next. Historical romances are my favourite and the author definitely did this genre justice with this story. From her vivid and detailed writing that allowed me to imagine what I was reading to the smaller details which showed she understands the era she is writing for. Although its only February this is definitely one of my reads of 2022 so far! I feel that I also really need to say how beautiful and eye catching the cover is too, I don’t usually take much notice of covers – if I did I wouldn’t have read some of my favourite books – however this one is so serene looking it really is stunning to look at.
Overall this was a wonderful story and I am definitely looking forward to the next one in the series!

I have read books by this author previously and I really like her imaginative and creative writing style so when I saw this book I was looking forward to starting and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author was able to capture my imagination from the very beginning. Her attention to detail means that I can vividly imagine the setting for her stories with ease. The story definitely had the ‘gaming’ feel about it which made it really interesting to read. The characters are interesting to read about and there was some good banter which added a fun element to the story.
Overall I really enjoyed the story and would recommend.

I really enjoyed this short historical romance read. I fell in love with the characters straight away- they were both just the sweetest. This is the first book that I have read from this series and I absolutely would love to read more. The author’s writing was really engaging and easy to read. I really felt for Mary, so innocent but also having been through everything in her childhood she had a good amount of strength about her and was willing to try and do things on her own. And I’m pretty sure I’m 100% in love with Noah! The way he was with Mary was so sweet at times although there was a part where I was just like oh please just kiss her!
Lovely read and one that I would highly recommend!

I’ve read quite a few books by this author now and I absolutely love her creative writing style. Her attention to detail and wonderful imagination means she manages to bring the world of fantasy to life as I’m reading. I can always imagine exactly what she is describing. This story was full of action from the very beginning, I really liked Adrijana, she was such a great character to read about. There were a few parts of the story which I were different from other books from this author but it was all well written. There was so much going on in the story that my interest was definitely captured from beginning to end.
Overall, a really enjoyable read full of action and fantasy!

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance read. The characters were so well written that I couldn’t help but take them into my heart and want the best for them. Gina – I had so much respect for her, she sustained an awful injury but rebuilt her life with such strength and bravery – I truly admired her. Bryce may have stolen my heart! The way he interacted with Gina and made her feel safe and secure enough to finally let someone in. I was 100% rooting for this couple the whole way through.
A really lovely read and one I would highly recommend.

This was a really interesting read – it was a little out of my comfort zone but the synopsis sounded interesting so I thought that I would give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed. I found myself really engaged in the story and with Amy’s character. I was really hoping that she would find out what she wanted to about her father. There was a good amount of suspense in the story which definitely kept me wondering whilst I was reading.
I haven’t read anything by this author previously so I think I would definitely like to read the previous book to this and find out more about some of the characters.

Yet again another fantastic read from this author. I don’t think I will ever tire of reading her stories they always grab my attention from the first page until the last. There was honestly so much going on in this story I was definitely on the edge of my seat at times. I loved Marco and Elena’s story; it was fantastic to read. I really loved Elena, with everything she had to contend with she showed such strength of character when faced with danger. Marco has this wonderful mafia dark broodiness to him and the fierce protective side which I loved! He’s definitely swoon-worthy!!

I really enjoyed this story – second chance romance together with sports romance makes for my perfect read! I’ve not read anything by this author previously ad I really liked their writing style. The story flowed well and had a great pace to it. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters it felt real and believable. They had a genuine connection and I loved reading about them. As well as the two main character Levi and Brynn, there were also their friendships with other characters that made the story too. I loved the interaction and banter between them all.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters Leslie and Trevor. I really admired Leslie, she clearly loved her job but being a female firefighter came with its problems and she really worked hard to prove herself. Although this was a short story it definitely wasn’t short on detail and it had a great pace and flow. I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

I am going to completely honest that I almost didn’t read this book, the authors warning triggered many things for me but I felt like I needed to know if she could write about these things as well as I anticipated and I have to say she absolutely did. Was it hard to read at times – yes, did I cry remembering some of these things happening to me – absolutely but I absolutely cannot fault the authors writing. It was excellent, she had clearly thought about everything she wrote about and this really was an amazing story. I was hooked from beginning to end and did feel like I was right there with the characters at times, the emotion and heartbreak came across really well.

Slick Running (Satan’s Devils MC #3) AUDIO BOOK by Manda Mellett – Review by Katie Matthews

Slick Running (Satan’s Devils MC #3) AUDIO BOOK

By Manda Mellett

5 stars

If I could I would totally insert the crying emoji first for this audiobook! What a way to start the third book in this series! Talk about emotional!! Slick is one of those characters that when you start listening about him you really question him and his personality but he’s been hurt and I can kind of understand him but it really didn’t take long for me to fall in love with him just as I have with the other brothers in this MC. Once he realised what had happened to Ella that MC protectiveness took over! As well as the amazing writing from this author the narrator really managed to bring this story to life and certainly added to the emotional parts of it even more!

A fantastic 5-star audio book that I highly recommend you listen to!

Lydia was a fun character to read about and I felt like I was with her at times as she battled to save her boyfriend. The authors imaginative writing really came through in this story and the humour that was interjected made the story better to read. This is only a short read and to be honest I would have happily had read a longer version of it. Overall, a great read and one that I would recommend to others!

I’ve been looking forward to reading the latest instalment of this series and the author did not disappoint at all. The story was as well written and exciting as the previous two and I loved being transported back in time with the characters. The authors descriptive writing hasn’t wavered over the three books, I continue to be able to imagine exactly what I am reading at time. In this third book we see Maggie and Will preparing for their special day but with time travel involved its clear things aren’t going to go to plan! I really feel like I know these characters so well now and I love the twists and turns in their story.

This was such an interesting story to read. After I had read the synopsis something about the story had me intrigued, it’s not usually something I would read but I thought I would give it a go and I really did enjoy it. The author’s writing was brilliant, really engaging and I found that the characters were really relatable. The main character, Lizbeth, had a real determination about her and I was really willing her to overcome the obstacles in her way to find out what she wanted to find out about and fill in some of those important family missing blanks.
Overall, this was a lovely read, somewhat unexpected and one that I would highly recommend.

I love it when I read a book and then when I come to write the review, I end up just sitting at my computer looking at a blank page on the screen wondering how on earth I am going to find the words to justify how amazing the book was. That is exactly the problem I am having now! I have loved every book in this series so far but I think this one has to be my favourite. I have been waiting for CC’s story since the beginning. I love her independence and her success as a business woman. She has always been there for her friends and now they are doing something for her! I found that part really touching. She really deserved the help to get what she wanted.
I really liked Brant, and I mean REALLY liked him! He was such a genuine and nice guy. I loved the connection and chemistry between him and CC and I was definitely rooting for them the whole way through!
Along with CC and Brant were some great secondary characters – I don’t want to spoil it but a certain 90-year-old is back with some hilarious tales to tell!!
I really cannot recommend this book enough – it definitely deserves 5 stars and more!

The writing was great, the pace and flow excellent and I really liked the characters – there was certainly a lot of angst going on between them that’s for sure! Krista’s character really broke my heart at times, the way the author write about her and everything that she went through made her feel so real and I felt like I was experiencing some of the emotions she did right with her. This audio book was such a fantastic listen! I wasn’t 100% sure when I first read the synopsis but once I started it I was hooked from beginning to end. The author’s writing was fantastic, so gripping and engaging – it didn’t change the whole way through the book either. The characters were complex and the story was multi layered – it honestly is one of the best books that I have listened to this year! I can’t believe I have never come cross this author previously but that will absolutely change now I cannot wait to get my hands on more of her work!

Oh oh Master Trentino – I think you may be my favourite! This author is for sure becoming one of my favourites! She definitely knows how to write dark paranormal and has certainly captured my interest in a genre that I’ve not really read much of previously! Trentino has to act fast when he finds Angel and I really liked reading about her as she recovered from her transformation. There was so much passion and chemistry between them but he knew he couldn’t act as he wanted. I loved the new friendships that were formed in this story also.
