The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising Book 1) by Nadia Han – Review by Katie Matthews

The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising, #1)The Mastermind by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely LOVED this book! From beginning to end I was completely hooked. I honestly could not believe that this was the authors debut novel! This makes me very excited to read future books from her – absolutely outstanding writing! I just loved every single minute of it. Remi and Audri – the tension between them was just amazing, I could feel it coming off the pages as I read. I do love a forbidden romance, and this one was definitely that! The storyline was complex but not so much that it was difficult to read, the author did an amazing job with making sure everything flowed really well.
I am definitely going to be waiting in anticipation for more from this author and I absolutely would recommend this book to other readers!

Distant Memories (Nurse Morgan Series Book 2) by Kate MacInnis – Review by Katie Matthews

Distant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book TwoDistant Memories: A Nurse Morgan Series: Book Two by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After reading and enjoying book 1 in this series I couldn’t wait to get started on the second one and I wasn’t disappointed. All the fun writing from the first book spilled over in to this one and it made for yet again another really enjoyable read. I think I actually enjoyed this a little more than this first book, I think because I knew Morgan a little more I could really see her character developing so much more. There were definitely a few moments in this story that made me laugh out loud especially when Esmerelda the man hunter ghost appeared!
I have definitely really enjoyed these stories, they were something a little bit different to read for me.
I would highly recommend this book and series to other readers.

The Prospect of Death (An Alyssa Chalmers Cozy Mystery) by Carmen Radtke – Review by Katie Matthews

The Prospect of Death (Alyssa Chalmers mysteries, #2)The Prospect of Death by Carmen Radtke
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a story! I thoroughly enjoyed every second if this book – it was definitely a page turner. It had quite a few themes running through that separately I enjoy but thrown together it made for an exciting and engaging read. The pace was fast and so easy to read, you could easily put it down and pick it straight back up and not have to try and remember what you had read previously. I love Alyssa, she is just so full of fight, determination mixed in with a bit of curiosity – she was such a great character to read about. I liked that the author had clearly researched the era in which she set this story because (although I can’t be sure) I would imagine the historical information was fact as it certainly seemed to read that way.
This is book 2 in this series and although I think it could be read perfectly well as a standalone I would recommend book 1 also as that was a great read.

Love is Worth Fighting for (The Meraki Series Book 3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Katie Matthews

Love is Worth Fighting forLove is Worth Fighting for by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this series and this book was a wonderful addition to it. As always this author 100% transports me to wherever her stories are set with her beautiful descriptive language. Having previously met the main character in the first two books it was really nice to finally read Krystina’s story. I do like a frenemy to lovers story and this one is probably one of my favourites that I have read and actually one of my favourites from this author. The author really brought to life the feelings between the two main characters, especially Krystina. I liked the angst, the emotions, the relationship between Krystina and Loukas and also the relationship between Krystina and her sisters Mia and Kally.
This really was a lovely story to read, although the third in the series it could easily be read as a standalone however having read the previous two I would also highly recommend them also!
As always I look forward to read more from this author again in the future.

This is one of those stories that when you start reading it you just fall in love with the characters. I loved everything about Sol and Ember, their journeys separately and their journey together. They were both such genuine and relatable characters and I was secretly rooting for them the whole way through. I loved the storyline as well, it was really easy to follow and the flow made the story such a. Pleasure to read. This is the first book that I have read from this series but not by this author. I love that her writing style never waivers which means I know when I pick up one of her books I am in for a great read and this one was no exception.
Overall a really lovely read and one that I would highly recommend.

This book was such a lovely read, I really did enjoy every single minute of it. I loved how it was three stories but they were all interconnecting – they really were an absolute joy to read. I think from the title it’s obvious the bookstore is the centre for all of these stories but each one slightly different in its own way. I loved all of the characters, they were so relatable and it felt like I was reading about friends at times. There is one thing for sure with this book it definitely left me smiling once I had finished.
This is definitely a book you can settle down with on a summer evening and enjoy – it is one that I would highly recommend!

Another new book from this amazing author and again another 5 star read. I absolutely loved this book and I loved that it was a bit different from her other reads but also equally as fantastic. I was hooked from beginning to end. I think this is definitely up there with my favourite books from her – I just fell in love with the main characters straight away. They had this raw real feeling to them that made them really relatable – I especially loved Dwarf! I loved the eerie feeling this story had and there were definitely times where the hairs were standing up on my arms and I got goosebumps – this is something I’ve never had from this author before proving that she can write more than just MC novels!

Oliver, A Story About AdoptionOliver, A Story About Adoption by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a cute story and would be a great read for children whether they are adopted or not. I’m pretty sure everyone at some point has wished their parent weren’t theirs so I think that this story would help the see that that’s ok to feel that way at times. I have no experience with adoption but I can imagine this being a nice story to read to younger children to help them express their feelings. The language is simple and is easy for children to follow and understand. It did finish a little abruptly I felt however it’s still a good 4 star read.

I loved every single story in the box set, each one is about a different brother and together just make for some phenomenal reading! I honestly cannot praise this series enough, I loved all of the books but think possible Cold Bastard is my favourite, the storyline was a little more complex as were the characters.

Another fun science read from this author and again its well written and would make an excellent resource for children to encourage their scientific knowledge. I could definitely see this forming a lesson at school and the children following it up by trying to make their own ice cube necklaces. The characters are really fun and engaging and as always the lovely illustrations really bring the story alive.

So when I first read the synopsis for this book I wasn’t overly sure what I was going to be reading but I am so glad that I gave it a go it really was a wonderful read. The authors writing was excellent, so easy to read even though it was a pretty complex and multi layered storyline. The author clearly had taken her time in planning to ensure that the story flowed seamlessly and it definitely did. The characters were so interesting to read about, they were all really individual but each of them great in their own way.
I really did enjoy this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this book – going in to it I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was well written and the characters were great to read about. I liked Morgan, she was a fun character to read about and was supported by some great secondary characters that really added that extra something to the story. The storyline and setting for the story was quite unique in that I’ve never read a paranormal set in a medical setting – it was nice to read something a little different!
Overall a really enjoyable read and one that I would definitely recommend. I am looking forward to reading more from this series!

Devil's BreathDevil’s Breath by Lang Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok so I absolutely loved this book! It was an amazing read and it had me pretty much gripped from beginning to end. Sera was a fantastic female lead in this story, she was fearless and a genius! Cassius was a brilliant male lead, I loved that he wasn’t afraid to show his feelings. Whilst there was some definite passion between Sera and Cassius their relationship was more of a slow burn one which actually fitted the story I feel. The author managed to keep the suspense running throughout the whole book and this together with a nicely layered complex storyline it made for a very exciting read! I shall definitely be looking to read more from this author again in the future.

I loved the twists and turns in the story! I loved London as well, she was a great character and a definitely match for True! The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts and I was secretly rooting for them!!

Well this story was not what I expected at all – Grace is probably hands down one of the best female leads I’ve read about in a story for a very long time, she was just amazing to read about. Her inner strength as well as her physical made her such a unique character, I’ve never read anything like this book before and apart being really well written is one of the reasons for the 5 stars, It was so incredibly refreshing to read something different. Apart from Grace who I just loved there was also a few secondary characters who were just as wonderful to read about and I loved the connection that they all had with each other. I am very excited to read more from this author and series in the future and would definitely recommend this 5 star read to other readers!

Overall I really enjoyed this book – I thought the storyline was really interesting and the author threw in some great twists too. There were a few times where I skimmed over a few parts as they were a bit drawn out but it was an exciting read at times – I’m going to say this especially true from the middle part of the story – the action definitely kicked up a notch there. I really liked the characters, and the authors descriptions of Mexico in particular were great, I got a real feeling for what the place was like. I liked Wyatt, I thought he really did do what he could to help protect Selena at the beginning and be there for her as the story progressed. I felt for Selena especially finding out about her extended family the way she did.
A great read and one that I would highly recommend.

Trey and Hailey’s story was just fantastic from start to finish – it had everything I’ve come to expect from this talented author and more. I’ve been waiting for Trey’s story for a while and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the chemistry between him and Hailey – after everything he’d been through he definitely deserved his happy ever after. Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC #4) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Katie Matthews

Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC #4) AUDIO BOOK

By Manda Mellett

5 stars

I’m going to be honest that although I absolutely give this 5 stars because the writing is great and the storyline – it’s probably my least favourite of all the stories and I can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I wanted or something I’m really not sure but what I do know is as usual the story is excellently written with a great pace and flow. The characters were a little harder to get to know but they were really well developed and I liked to see other characters from previous stories pop up as well. I did like the connection that Dart and Alex had – I just wish that Alex knew how special she was regardless of how she thought she looked! The narration of the audio book was excellent as always.

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Katie Matthews

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is wonderful box set – I have read 4 of the books and they were all fantastic 5 star reads for me! I love the authors easy to read writing style and her amazing characters who you just cannot help but fall in love with!

Book 1 – Run to the sea

Run to the Sea was a wonderful read by K G Fletcher and one that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I really love this author and all of the books that I have read by her so far have all been wonderful reads. She has a writing style that is easy to read and her stories flow really well. She creates some amazing characters and Thomas and Emeline were no exceptions! I love a second chance romance and I absolutely adored watching these two characters come back together again and I was rooting for them to fall in love from the start! There were a few obstacles in their way but their story really had me hooked and I really grew to love then over their journey together. There were also some good supporting characters and I am really looking forward to reading more about them in the next book in the series!

Book 2 – Stars fall from the sky

I really liked the story, it was an emotional read and the author definitely got the feels across. I did kind of guess what might happen but that didn’t matter because I really liked the characters. Ginger was a sweet character and I really felt for her with everything that happened. Her love for Rusty and Daisy just poured off the pages at the beginning and so did her grief as the story progressed. I could feel the connection she found with Jonathon, I really liked him!!

Book 3 – A Sun So Bright

Again another wonderful book in this series. The characters were great although it did take a little time for me to warm to Fiona I did eventually and the plot was definitely romantic.

Book 5 – A Cold Creek Christmas

This was such a lovely, heart-warming Christmas read. I really do love this author and this is one of my favourites by her so far! I really liked Amber and Giovanni, both really likeable and relatable characters I felt. I also really loved that real feeling the story had. Giovanni was such a perfect gentleman and form the moment him and Amber met I knew they would be perfect for each other and I was rooting for them the whole way through.
