The Mermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace (Mermaid Science) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Katie Matthews

Mermaid and the Ice Cube NecklaceMermaid and the Ice Cube Necklace by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another fun science read from this author and again its well written and would make an excellent resource for children to encourage their scientific knowledge. I could definitely see this forming a lesson at school and the children following it up by trying to make their own ice cube necklaces. The characters are really fun and engaging and as always the lovely illustrations really bring the story alive.

Romance Under AquariusRomance Under Aquarius by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So when I first read the synopsis for this book I wasn’t overly sure what I was going to be reading but I am so glad that I gave it a go it really was a wonderful read. The authors writing was excellent, so easy to read even though it was a pretty complex and multi layered storyline. The author clearly had taken her time in planning to ensure that the story flowed seamlessly and it definitely did. The characters were so interesting to read about, they were all really individual but each of them great in their own way.
I really did enjoy this book and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Distant Heart Sounds (Nurse Morgan #1)Distant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book – going in to it I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was well written and the characters were great to read about. I liked Morgan, she was a fun character to read about and was supported by some great secondary characters that really added that extra something to the story. The storyline and setting for the story was quite unique in that I’ve never read a paranormal set in a medical setting – it was nice to read something a little different!
Overall a really enjoyable read and one that I would definitely recommend. I am looking forward to reading more from this series!

Devil’s Breath by Lang Johnson – Review by Katie Matthews

Devil's BreathDevil’s Breath by Lang Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok so I absolutely loved this book! It was an amazing read and it had me pretty much gripped from beginning to end. Sera was a fantastic female lead in this story, she was fearless and a genius! Cassius was a brilliant male lead, I loved that he wasn’t afraid to show his feelings. Whilst there was some definite passion between Sera and Cassius their relationship was more of a slow burn one which actually fitted the story I feel. The author managed to keep the suspense running throughout the whole book and this together with a nicely layered complex storyline it made for a very exciting read! I shall definitely be looking to read more from this author again in the future.

Wow what a read! I was completely captivated from beginning to end. The characters were complex but so worth reading about. True – I don’t even know what to say about this character – I loved him then I hated him, then I loved him again! He is definitely one of those character who is so enjoyable to read about! I loved the twists and turns in the story! I loved London as well, she was a great character and a definitely match for True! The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts and I was secretly rooting for them!!
This really was an amazing read, a great storyline with amazing characters! I would 100% recommend it to other readers!

This was a really enjoyable read. I liked the storyline and the book was really easy to read. The author had a really nice writing style which meant the story was easy to follow and it had a really nice pace and flow to it. I really liked the characters, especially Bree, she was lovely to read about. She is the kind of character who you just instantly feel a connection with and I really did feel with her. There were also some great secondary characters that really added that extra layer to the story. I really liked Nate and I was definitely rooting for the two of them the whole way through the story!

Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1).Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1). by Carsen Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well this story was not what I expected at all – Grace is probably hands down one of the best female leads I’ve read about in a story for a very long time, she was just amazing to read about. Her inner strength as well as her physical made her such a unique character, I’ve never read anything like this book before and apart being really well written is one of the reasons for the 5 stars, It was so incredibly refreshing to read something different. Apart from Grace who I just loved there was also a few secondary characters who were just as wonderful to read about and I loved the connection that they all had with each other. I am very excited to read more from this author and series in the future and would definitely recommend this 5 star read to other readers!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Overall I really enjoyed this book – I thought the storyline was really interesting and the author threw in some great twists too. There were a few times where I skimmed over a few parts as they were a bit drawn out but it was an exciting read at times – I’m going to say this especially true from the middle part of the story – the action definitely kicked up a notch there. I really liked the characters, and the authors descriptions of Mexico in particular were great, I got a real feeling for what the place was like. I liked Wyatt, I thought he really did do what he could to help protect Selena at the beginning and be there for her as the story progressed. I felt for Selena especially finding out about her extended family the way she did.
A great read and one that I would highly recommend.

Oh what a story! I don’t know how this author does it – every single story she writes is just amazing, nothing is repeated, no two characters are the same and they are always amazing reads! Trey and Hailey’s story was just fantastic from start to finish – it had everything I’ve come to expect from this talented author and more. I’ve been waiting for Trey’s story for a while and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the chemistry between him and Hailey – after everything he’d been through he definitely deserved his happy ever after. I say this a lot but I definitely feel like this one if one of my favourites from this author so far and definitely my favourite form this series!
I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!

This was a really good read. The authors writing was really gripping, I found myself wanting to turn the pages faster and faster so I could find out what was going to happen next. The action starts with Avery waking up having no recollection of how she’s been cut open and sewn back up again. I enjoyed the story and its unpredictable story line. The characters were well thought out and developed well as the story progressed. Although this is the second book in the series I read it as a standalone and encountered no issues. I would definitely recommend this to other paranormal romance lovers!

This was a great short story and one that I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed the authors writing and also was a great introduction to her as a new author. The story was easy to follow and I really liked the characters Rafe and Cheyenne, they truly were in love but due to Rafe’s arranged marriage they couldn’t be together and then there was Meredith – Rafe’s soon to be wife! She was not a nice one!! Overall a fun read and one that I would recommend!

The action in the book was non-stop and was just an absolute pleasure to read. I loved Nadia and Mitch, together they made an awesome team trying to figure just who was trying to frame Mitch and they weren’t just perfect for each other professionally in my opinion!! I think this book probably has one of the best opening chapters that I have read in a long time – the author definitely grabs your attention that’s for sure! I can’t believe this series is coming to an end and what an ending it was! I’ve grown to love Dahlia over this series and I really felt like I was right there with her in this story as she battled to save what remains of her new reality. Again the author wove a really exciting and engaging story that captured my attention from the very beginning and held it until the ending. I felt like Dahlia actually discovered a lot about herself in this. Although I am sad that this series is over I am definitely looking forward to seeing what comes next from them in the future.

This was such a beautifully written, heartfelt story which I absolutely loved. The author clearly took a lot of time to write this story as I could feel all of the emotions of the character, I could imagine what she was describing, I really did feel like I was sharing in the grief of Margaret at times. Margaret really was such a strong person, with everything she went through, I really did feel for her – she definitely had strength and determination.
I enjoyed following Margaret’s journey, it was very emotional at times and I would definitely recommend it to other readers.

There really was so much going on in this book that I was completely captivated by what I was reading. I loved the characters Greer and Theron. What a wonderful read. I absolutely love historical romance but this was such a different read for me, I’m used to Regency London reads and I really loved that this one was so different. The setting for the story made it such a unique and new read for me. Griffin and Julia were lovely characters to read about, their romance a slow burn one but a true joy to read about. The author wrote about their relationship so beautifully, that added to the wonderful descriptions of the setting for the story this book really was a pleasure to read. I would absolutely recommend this story to other readers and also other lovers of historical romance – you will not be disappointed and I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC #4) Audio Book by Manda Mellett – Review by Katie Matthews

Targeting Dart (Satan’s Devils MC #4) AUDIO BOOK

By Manda Mellett

5 stars

I’m going to be honest that although I absolutely give this 5 stars because the writing is great and the storyline – it’s probably my least favourite of all the stories and I can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I wanted or something I’m really not sure but what I do know is as usual the story is excellently written with a great pace and flow. The characters were a little harder to get to know but they were really well developed and I liked to see other characters from previous stories pop up as well. I did like the connection that Dart and Alex had – I just wish that Alex knew how special she was regardless of how she thought she looked! The narration of the audio book was excellent as always.

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5) by KG Fletcher – Review by Katie Matthews

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is wonderful box set – I have read 4 of the books and they were all fantastic 5 star reads for me! I love the authors easy to read writing style and her amazing characters who you just cannot help but fall in love with!

Book 1 – Run to the sea

Run to the Sea was a wonderful read by K G Fletcher and one that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I really love this author and all of the books that I have read by her so far have all been wonderful reads. She has a writing style that is easy to read and her stories flow really well. She creates some amazing characters and Thomas and Emeline were no exceptions! I love a second chance romance and I absolutely adored watching these two characters come back together again and I was rooting for them to fall in love from the start! There were a few obstacles in their way but their story really had me hooked and I really grew to love then over their journey together. There were also some good supporting characters and I am really looking forward to reading more about them in the next book in the series!

Book 2 – Stars fall from the sky

I really liked the story, it was an emotional read and the author definitely got the feels across. I did kind of guess what might happen but that didn’t matter because I really liked the characters. Ginger was a sweet character and I really felt for her with everything that happened. Her love for Rusty and Daisy just poured off the pages at the beginning and so did her grief as the story progressed. I could feel the connection she found with Jonathon, I really liked him!!

Book 3 – A Sun So Bright

Again another wonderful book in this series. The characters were great although it did take a little time for me to warm to Fiona I did eventually and the plot was definitely romantic.

Book 5 – A Cold Creek Christmas

This was such a lovely, heart-warming Christmas read. I really do love this author and this is one of my favourites by her so far! I really liked Amber and Giovanni, both really likeable and relatable characters I felt. I also really loved that real feeling the story had. Giovanni was such a perfect gentleman and form the moment him and Amber met I knew they would be perfect for each other and I was rooting for them the whole way through.

This was a fun romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud a few times. I’ve read books by this author before and found her writing light hearted and easy to read an again I found that with this book. The characters were relatable and I enjoyed reading about them. I think it was obvious that Angelina still had feelings for Blade and I could feel the connection that they had during their interactions. They did have chemistry and the author wrote the sex scenes well in my opinion.
I would definitely recommend this book and I am looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This was a really good read and a fantastic introduction to a new author! I knew from the very first page that it was going to be one of those books that once you start reading then you can’t stop and I was right. I loved the characters probably the first time I have read a book with two very dominant main characters and it was so fun to read about them. Another huge plus fir this book was the authors beautiful descriptions of the settings, I definitely want to visit Monaco now she makes it sounds absolutely amazing!
I really do highly recommend this story, it was a fantastic romance read with some very steamy moments! It’s well written and was a pure joy to read. I am very excited to read more from this author again in the future.

Everwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire RomanceEverwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire Romance by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Overall I enjoyed the story, it was a short read but the author didn’t really make it feel rushed nor did it lack any attention to detail. The main characters Zenni and Colton were interesting to read about. I really liked Colton, he was quite relatable and I have to admit at the beginning of the story I wasn’t too sure I would like him but I definitely grew to love him as the story progressed. Zenni was an intriguing character for me because she was actually nothing like I anticipated she would be, I imagined shed be all for the tearing down of something that represented pain and suffering to so many people in history but I could also understand her point of view in wanting it to remain. I could definitely feel the sexual tension between the two of the characters, that was for sure!
I did enjoy the story, I really do love this authors work so I look forward to more from them in the future.

As with every book I have read by this author I was hooked from the very beginning. It was a dark and gritty read and absolutely fantastic! From the moment I met Gage I knew he would be one of those characters you shouldn’t love, his first meeting with Juliet wasn’t the best but as the story progressed he became this amazing person who I fell In love with. There were some twists and turns in the story but it was superbly written and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. There are some very steamy scenes in this book but the author writes them well. The whole story was excellent from start to finish and it’s an excellent addition to this already wonderful series.

I was rooting for Regan and Jeremy the whole way through this book they seemed to just have this instant connection that wasn’t forced, it felt natural and genuine – they liked each other for who they were and nothing else. The emotions and how the characters were feeling really came across in the story, the author did a great job with that.
