Hit on YouHit on You by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another fantastic book from this author! I really love her writing style and have enjoyed many of her books and love how versatile she is when writing. This book was a brilliant read, I really enjoyed it. I love a good dark romance and this one definitely delivered on that front! I absolutely loved Lu and Nikolai! Lu was a wonderful, independent female lead but she also still had that small amount of vulnerability to make her need someone in her life. Nikolai was a strong male lead but again he had this side to him that wasn’t overpowering and he realised that he needed to let Lu have her independence but be there when she needed him. there was so much chemistry between the two of them and the author really made this come alive in the story!
Overall a fantastic dark romance and one that I would highly recommend!

Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3) by Debra Parmley – Review by Katie Matthews

Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3)Saving the Bellydancer by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, the story was engaging and I liked reading about the characters. I think I might be a little bit in love with Cutter – he was so dreamy! I loved how he was so fiercely protective of Zarifah. They had such a genuine connection and I loved reading their story. There was a good mix of romance, suspense and acti0on – it’s definitely one of those stories that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole way through.
This book is quite short being a novella but I don’t think the story was lacking in anyway – I would have loved a longer read just because I loved the characters so much and would happily have read more about them!
Overall a great read with lovely characters! A definite must read!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So this book was a little out of my comfort zone, it contained quite a few tropes I like or love and some I’m not so sure about but the synopsis sounded good so I thought I would give it a go and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I loved Stella! It so refreshing to read about plus size characters and she just oozed sexiness and confidence – I just honestly loved her so much. There was so much chemistry between all of the characters and it felt genuine. I think the author is very upfront about the kind of content in the story so it’s quite clearly this is intended for a mature audience only!
Overall this was a great read, full of hot and steamy encounters and wonderful characters! I wouldn’t hesitate to read another book by this author again in the future.

This was such a good read – I really enjoyed it. I loved Marley and Max! Even though their first encounter was only the one night there did seem to be this instant and genuine connection between them. I loved the added suspense in the story this was great and definitely kept me guessing as to what was going to happen next in Marley and Max’s story. The author had a wonderful and engaging writing style that certainly kept my attention throughout. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am certainly excited to read more from her in the future!

Yet again another wonderful read from this author! I loved Hunter and Selma! They were such wonderful characters to read about, there was just something about this book that made you want to keep reading long in to the night! It definitely had that can’t put down feel about because you just want to find out what is going to happen on the next page. The way in which the author writes she really does draw you into the story and the characters’ lives that in parts it felt a little bit like reality. I will admit this book is longer than your average read but it is so worth it in my opinion! Beautifully written with wonderful characters – a must read!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting read and one that I did enjoy overall. The way in which the story was written was really good and intriguing. The author wove a tale of complex relationships and I think it’s one of those stories that each reader will have a different feeling or interpretation of what they think the main character Jasmine should do or have done. I will admit that the story was slow to start but really did begin to pick up pace from around the half way mark. A really interesting read that will definitely take you on a rollercoaster of emotions.

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers Book 2) by Giovanna Siniscalchi – Review by Katie Matthews

The Taste of Light (The Winemakers, #2)The Taste of Light by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading book 1 in this series I was really looking forward to this one and I wasn’t disappointed. Again the author transported back in time to 1872 Portugal. I love historical romance reads but for me this series has been so great to read because of the setting – I usually read about London and very rarely anywhere else. The author paints an amazing historical picture with her wonderful words and I loved every minute of what I read. I was looking forward to finding out more about Pedro and I loved his POV chapters, I really felt as though I got to know him and yes I did end up falling in love with him! Anne was a sweet character, she may have been young and a little naive but there was just something about her and I loved her and Pedro together!
Overall a great second book in this series and one that I would highly recommend!

I honestly love this author so much, I don’t even bother reading the blurb for her stories anymore as I just know they are going to be amazing and as predicted this book was no different and she definitely upped the ante I this book that’s for sure! Twists and turns galore and I was practically on the edge of my seat the whole way through – there was suspense, romance and w whole lot more! I think for me it was Emelia who stole the show – she was such an amazing character – I absolutely loved her!

Well what a way to start of my reading for 2023! I absolutely ADORE this author and the first book I ever read by her Savage Collison is still by far one of the best books I have ever read and over the years I have been fortunate to read so many of her books so when I saw this one I didn’t even bother reading the blurb I just grabbed it and as usual it was phenomenal! It is a prequel to the Hawke family series and sets the scene between the two characters Jack and Isaac just perfectly and I absolutely cannot wait to read more about them and start this new series. I have no doubt it is going to AMAZING!!

I have to say this book isn’t my usual genre to read but I thought I would give it a go as I’m familiar with the author and have enjoyed her previous work and I have to say this is probably one of my favourite stories from her. The connection between the characters was just amazing, so genuine and real. I could honestly feel the characters emotions pouring off the pages. I could feel the genuine angst they were feeling about what was happening and the way they thought about other involved in the situation as well.
It was beautifully written and explored and explained a different type of relationship really well. A definite must read!

This was a really great read. I loved the characters and the idea behind the storyline. I think it was a really relatable story and this made me love it even more. I loved the characters especially Abi, she was such a lovely person and with everything she was going through I really felt for her at times. I think I pretty much fell in love with Finn straight away! He was definitely worthy of that book boyfriend title! There was a great amount of chemistry between the two that didn’t feel forced. I loved the humour in the story and this just made it even more entertaining to read.
Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a standalone and I cannot recommend it enough! A great 5 star read!!

Ever since finishing book 1 in this series I’ve been looking forward to the second and it didn’t disappoint! I love how the author made me feel part of the story and that I was right there with Elinor trying to figure things out. I really enjoyed the angst going on between Elinor and The Duke – the blossoming slow relationship that’s starting between them is a great addition to the story.
This was a great novella and I am definitely looking forward to reading more about Elinor in the next instalment!!!

Another really cute story about Amaleigha! For a 6 year old she has such a grown up head on her shoulders and she thinks of such wonderful ideas. I love how this book can encourage children to think about how to fundraise for different things and encourage communities working together. I loved that at the end of the story there is suggestions about how to build a community book box, something that I’m sure children would love to do and be a part of. The story is simple and easy to follow with beautiful illustrations.

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 1) by G.K. Brady – Review by Katie Matthews

Taming Beckett (The Playmakers, #1)Taming Beckett by G.K. Brady
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ok so I’m a huge sports romance fan but throw in a bad boy too and I’m grabbing that book barely even reading the synopsis which is exactly what happened with this book AND it did not disappoint! I was hooked from beginning to end. There was so much more to this book than a bad boy hockey player, I really feel like I went on a journey with the characters in this story. The growth that both Beckett and Paige go on is so emotional and the friendship and connection that they have with each other is so lovely. I pretty much fell for Beckett straightaway!
This truly is a wonderful story and so much more than I first anticipated it to be! Highly recommend 5 star read!

This was such a great read. What struck me most about this book was the uniqueness of the storyline. I really liked Lily, she was definitely a woman on a mission! She wasn’t afraid to get stuck in. I loved that there was both humour and emotion in the story and the emotion certainly poured off the pages at some points. The characters both primary and secondary were great and I loved the authors writing style, the story was really engaging and I loved every second of it.

This was a really good read, I have to admit I wasn’t too sure when I read the synopsis if I would enjoy it but I really did. The authors attention to detail really gave the story that extra depth to it. The characters were really unique and interesting to read about. I really like Soraya, she was a great female lead! I have to say that I read this as a standalone so it took me a little bit to understand what was going on and I would definitely like to read the first two books in the series however it didn’t have a real negative impact on my enjoyment of the story at all.
I will definitely be looking forward to reading more book from this author in the future.

I absolutely love a good Mafia story and I have to say this has got to be amongst the best I’ve read. It was an absolutely fantastic read – from beginning to end I was completely hooked. I think Adrik had my heart from the very beginning – with everything he went through as a child, my heart broke for him so many times. Annika was not what I was expecting at all from a Mafia Princess! I loved her character straight away. This story was so heart-warming – I loved the slow burn between Adrik and Annika, it was so perfect for them. I just absolutely adored them both!

I think there are a lot of people out there who even as adults can fully relate to how these two siblings behaved. I know I certainly can! I love how this authors stories really come up with some great talking points for children whilst they are reading. I think this book is definitely best shared with an adult so maybe these talking points could include the children coming up with their own resolutions about how to behave and how we can all like different things but be respectful of each other.
I really enjoy the stories by this author and whilst I’m not sure this was one of my favourites I can see how it could help open further discussion for children about how we behave and respect each other.

So having read and loved the first book in this series I couldn’t wait to get started on the second book and what a read it was. I absolutely adored it! I think I loved it even more than the first and I thought that one was amazing as well!! My heart broke for Austin in the first book so I was desperately hoping he would find he happily ever after in this book and I just knew as soon as he met Casey she was the one for him. Their story wasn’t the plain sailing romance I was hoping for but I was completely invested in them both and was rooting for them the whole way through.
I guess this story could be read as a standalone but I think to truly understand Austin and a little of his backstory you should read this series in order – you will not be disappointed in either book! I cannot wait for book 3!!
