Second Glance: A Serrulata Saga Romance Novel (The Serrulata Saga) by A.E. Bennett – Review by Kelli Harper

Second Glance (The Serrulata Saga)Second Glance by A.E. Bennett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The fourth book in The Serrulata Saga by A.E. Bennett, this novella deepens the story of Patrick and Iseul. This story can be read as a stand-alone however you will not get all of the backstory and build-up. The characters are well developed, and the story progresses rapidly. This historical, fantasy/romantic adventure has sci-fi and dystopian elements with a MM romance as the main focus of the story.
There is just enough action and drama to keep the story alive from beginning to end. I do recommend reading this series in order though so as to get the backstory and the build-up

Murder by Moonlight (Felines of Fairytale Forest) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Kelli Harper

Murder by Moonlight (Felines of Fairytale Forest Book 1)Murder by Moonlight by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A new cozy mystery series by K.L. Montgomery. This is a wonderful story full of mystery and it even kept me guessing all the way up until the murderer was revealed. The way the characters, both human and feline interacted with each other was wonderful. I love all the little twists and turns. This is really two stories in one. There is the human murder and then there is a conflict going on in the feline community as well. Wonderfully written and I am already hoping book 2 will be out soon.

OH MAN THE WRETCHED SOULZ ARE BACK!!
I absolutely love Manda Mellett and her MC books. Fantastic writing and the books pull you in and make you feel like you are there. You can just feel the bikes rumble and smell the stale beer and cigarettes. Helo and Chaz are well matched in this story. I can’t say what I want about this book as it will reveal the whole thing but all I can say is READ THIS SERIES !!! You will not regret it.

Girl and Boy growing up, knew each other and she remembers him still. Now that she is old enough she is able to follow him and try to rekindle what they had as kids. He however is in a haze of rock music, groupies and drugs. She wants to become a musician and do what the band does but she isn’t into the drugs and groupies. This story will keep you wanting more. You will keep turning pages simply because you are just waiting on him to remember and for them to find that “HEA” that you are so desperately rooting for. Hang in there. The ending may surprise you.

Shows that children are accepting of everyone and will help their friends learn new things and will always find a way to include those around them. The child-like illustrations are cute and a great addition to this story. Again Lois Wickstrom does a wonderful job telling a story that children will enjoy.

Toasted (Love Burns #1)Toasted by Isobel Reed
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story starts off HOT, as in there is a fire in the kitchen. Who knew you had to clean toasters? There is a lot of fun, flirty banter between the female and male main characters. I really enjoyed watching the characters develop and evolve throughout the story. This is the first book in the series and I am looking forward to more.

Make Me Want To Love You: Love in Emerald CreekMake Me Want To Love You: Love in Emerald Creek by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this series. Shayna and Burke are associated with one another through their mutual best friend Dre. They are drawn to each other and start as friends and grow into more, much much more. This book is full of all the emotions and feels. Friendship that leads to becoming lovers and there is drama and romance. It is everything a divorced, previously abused, single mom could ever hope to find. I love this book just as much as the first. While they can be read as stand-alone I highly recommend they be read in order to get the character backgrounds and learn about Dre and her story.

Just like the rest of the books that I have read by Lois Wickstrom, this one as well does not disappoint. Always a fun story with wonderful illustrations. This one about the healing of a scraped knee. The fun jingle-ish type rhythm and the more technical explanations on the same page help kids of all ages learn about how wounds heal. Great story !

The Better Man (Silver Buckle Brides, #2)The Better Man by Laurie L.C. Lewis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great story. Pretty cool the way the main characters come together to find a way to make things work even though they are on different sides of the situation in the beginning. They are definitely feeling something for one another but are they willing to cross that line? They both have walls up and are having a hard time facing the reality of their feelings for one another. I really enjoyed watching their growth in friendship and eventually more.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love the illustrations and the rhyming, I am just not sure about the content. Kids all think poop is funny but to me it’s not. Love that the main character is mixed race, love that there is a bully but the other kids stand up to the bully and include Stega anyway.
Very colorful and I am sure kids will love it.

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia Series) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Kelli Harper

Sugar & Spice (Spicetopia #1)Sugar & Spice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sweetopia, a family theme park that is wonderful and family-friendly for everyone except those who are employees there. Long work hours, not great insurance benefits, are making some of the employees unhappy and there are rumors of an impending strike. The owners have sent their son, Cy, undercover.
Jolie, a single mom, working long hours at the theme park and a second job just to make ends meet, really has no time to spend with her 2 boys.

The chemistry between the 2 main characters jumps off the pages. They are always looking for each other and cannot keep their hands to themselves when they are alone, but will their respective secrets drive then apart?

Wonderful start to an amazing series. New discreet covers and this first book has additional material. I adore the Spicetopia series and this authors other works as well.

Book 4 in the Olympic Peninsula Series and this author has done it again. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and highly recommend them all. while they could be read as stand alone stories, I do suggest that they are read in order because the characters do overlap in these books and you will see how they grow and continue developing their relationships. It is really cool that even though this is Jake’s story, we still get to follow Joe and Ali and how their lives are developing together. Love, love, love this series!
