Shadowed Obsession (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 1) by Mavery Ellscott – Review by Kelli Harper

Shadowed Obsession: An Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller (Shadow Defense Security Series Book 1)Shadowed Obsession: An Action-Packed Romantic Suspense Thriller by Mavery Ellscott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A new to me author, and upon reading her bio I discovered this is her debut novel. WOW. What a great start in writing. Even though I was able to kind of figure out who the person was terrorizing Keira, I was still surprised at the over all outcome and discovery of other information. This book will keep you turning pages and make you want to finish just to know who did it.

The romance part is well written and I LOVE Cade and Keira. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series.

Saved by the Everyday Hero (Limited Edition Romance Collections) by Naomi Valkyrie & Various Authors – Review by Kelli Harper

Saved by the Everyday HeroSaved by the Everyday Hero by Amelia Hayden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This Anthology is FULL of stories where someone is rescuing someone else. The first book in this Anthology is Unexpected Heroes by Naomi Valkyrie and it is a M/M romance. Elijah is new to town and is a single dad to an infant son. A troubled past seems to have followed him and leave it to his moody neighbor Jude to find a way to protect Elijah and even Griffin. A quick almost insta-love story that has you rooting for Elijah and Jude from the first meet.

The second book I want to tell you about from this Anthology is Quin to The Rescue by L.A. Remenicky. Mirra and Quin went to high school together but Mirra has been gone for many years, but now that she is back, can she let go of the demons that torture her memories of the past. Quinn was the star basketball player in high school but after a knee injury ended his basketball playing, now he is a police officer and he comes to Mirras rescue more than once in this story.

This Anthology contains many more stories from various authors and all of them are great.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A new to me author, this book is number seven in a series and yet I had no problem understanding the plot and figuring out the players and who they were married/involved with. I know this story and series follows the players but I find it hard to not want/hope that the sisters of Austens also get their stories told.
with that being said, this book in itself is freaking HOT! Dimitry and Austen are a must read. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute spent with them.

Throwing the Curve (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Kelli Harper

Throwing the CurveThrowing the Curve by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book two in the Playing for Keeps Series definitely does not disappoint. Even though this is part of a series all of the books can be read as stand-alone. This is Peyton and Ryan’s story. What starts out as mutual distrust and dislike for each other eventually leads to their fake-dating and the events that follow.
This story starts as a fake relationship genre but quickly crosses over to rom-com with the obvious sports romance and then bridges to the enemies-to-lovers genres. Something for everyone.

Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Playing for Keeps Book 3)Sliding into Home: A Secret Baby Sports Romance by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So, I picked up this book on a whim, needing something lighter than the dark stuff I have read recently and this book did not disappoint!! I read this book in one afternoon, being sick, I decided to use the day to be lazy and try to feel better. There are moments in this book that will anger you, frustrate you, and most of all make you laugh out loud. I love the chemistry between Jeff and Kia, then add Max into the mix and the family dynamic is just fantastic. What I did not realize when I started or even finished this book is that it is book 3 in a series. YAY I am going to check out the others too!!

Love this author for children’s books. My kids are becoming big fans. A loosely base retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, but this is in the POV of the Giant. Great illustrations and a great deal of lessons to be learned here.

Goldilocks retelling. Great teaching about simple machines, I especially like that at the end of the story there is a description of each machine she used. The childlike illustrations just made the whole thing kids friendly. I like that her books are educational and fun.

This book is dark, and sexy, and suspenseful. The things that Zeke (Venom), and Lily go through to be together, and then there is her crazy ex. This story makes you want to know how on earth this authors brain works to come up with some of the things/issues in this story. I will definitely be reading book 2.

The 2nd book in the Love on Tap series does not disappoint!
This story has even more mystery but just as many laughs. Sylvie Stewart has definitely become one of my favorite independent authors! Sunny and Carter will take you on quite the adventure. Watch out for Duke though, he may just steal the story and your heart!

A Way Out (Rock Star Book 2)A Way Out by Tami Lund
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rock star, Single dad, hard working, hot as all, this is the perfect man for this story. There is instant attraction between Maria and Oz. This is the 2nd book in the series but the first I have read and I was not lost or confused in any way. I am sure there is overlap in the characters but that is ok.
I really enjoyed the pace and character development throughout. Watching Maria step up and take over certain aspects was refreshing.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This is the second book in this series and while this series follows a circle of friends, you can read this book on it’s own. Christy and Ryan aren’t strangers, and this second chance romance will give you all the feels. This author, Haley Rhoades, is quickly becoming a one click author for me. Small town, sports romances are really good.

The Passion of 3: A Second Chance MMF Romance by Ariella Talix – Review by Kelli Harper

The Passion of 3The Passion of 3 by Ariella Talix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A MMF second chance romance with a whole lot of Steam! This is a good story with great heat and it will keep you turning the pages to see how it ends. A misunderstanding leads to the demise of a relationship and the subsequent breaking up of a band. But after Caro and Nash rekindle their romance, can they convince Grey that with them is where he belongs? Page turning excitement, just NEEDING to know what happens next. This is book 2 in this series but the first time I have read this author and I will be going back for book one. I did not miss anything in this 2nd book by having not read the first. There were no gaps in time or missing links.

Fireflies (The Physical Collection)Fireflies by A.R. Hadley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is written amazingly well. I fell in love with Mike and Dane and their love for each other. (Despite the fact that my first and second husbands were named Mike and Dane, yes ironic I know) I have a dear friend who lives the “poly” lifestyle and it was very interesting to read more about how the couples (even in fictional literature) make these relationships work. The personalities of Mike and Dane are really well written, you will definitely want to keep turning pages and reading about how they make their twosome a family. It’s so well written and will capture your attention within a couple pages.

This is the third book in this series and even though it is not recommended to read as stand-alones, I read this book and fell in love with the characters and the plot. There may be some things I missed from the first two books (which I now plan on going back and reading) but I honestly didn’t miss it. Cecily is doing big things in her life. This story will have you turning the pages to find out how she does it and all that she deals with along the way. LOVED this book and will be reading the first two just to tie it all together.

Based on a true story, the author has drawn us into his life and is showing us a venerable side of himself. This book brings us into his relationships with three different women who are more flawed than he thinks he is. The author does a good job of building the story and drawing you into these relationships so that you as the reader are experiencing these moments right along with him. You will definitely follow through the highs and lows, the happy, sad and anger filled moments. You will experience all of this and more.
