The Worry Knot by Mary Bleckwehl – Review by Kerry Carr

The Worry KnotThe Worry Knot by Mary Evanson Bleckwehl
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting and captivating story. It let’s you inside the mind of someone that worries a lot and the impact that has on their lives. The author does a great job of explaining the feelings and sensations that Rourke experiences through his days when he is gripped by constant worry.
It also delves into the feelings around being a teenage boy at school. The mixed emotions when encountering a girl he likes and the constant worry about protecting his older brother Carson.
We also see how Rourke deals with his constant anxiety and the way he responds to it mentally.
It is an endearing story focusing on relationship and the struggle to manage things when dealing with your own inner turmoil.
It would be a great book for young adults to read as you come away with the feeling that each of us are unique and different and that just because we seem to be fine doesn’t mean that is always the case.

Journeys Through Collection: Volumes 1-3 by James Talisman – Review by Kerry Carr

Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3Journeys Through Collection: Volume 1-3 by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an amazing boxset filled with fantasy and adventure. The stories keep you gripped and author does an amazing job at character and world building. I got completely lost in this Sci fi adventure.

Journey through spacetime

This is an amazing adventure story. The multiverse has several worlds, all with their own stories and battles.

On every world there is a battle between good and evil, however what they dont realise is that they are all connected to each other, and they need to work together in order to win this battle.
Will good win over evil this time or is the evil force too strong to be beaten.

I really enjoyed this story once i got into it and kept track of the characters and how they are all linked. Its a really well written story and the characters are captivating.

Journey through Time Space

This is the 2nd book in the series and what an adventure. Like the first book it is a multi-level story so you need to keep on the ball as the different stories happen and twist together.

There are 2 different treasure hunts happening both with different outcomes.

The reptilian humanoids are searching for something to make their new weapon work. And the 3 college students, Matt, Dan and Julie are set out to learn ancient skills all centred about unity and the belief anything is possible if you are a united front.

Matt is the Ancient One and his role in all this is to safe earth. Will he and his friends learn the skills they need in time or will the other treasure hunters reach their goal first.

Its a great adventure full of twists and turns. Really well written and gripping from the first page.

Journey through allcreation

This is the 3rd book in the Journeys through series and they just keep getting better and better. I highly recommend reading all these books in order so that you understand the full story and also don’t get overwhelmed by the amount of characters. The author does an amazing job making each character unique and giving them all a purpose and identity which means the reader can easily tell them apart.
This is a great adventure from the beginning. It’s fast paced and a story or good vs evil in a fight to save planet earth and all the other planets in the Multi Verse.
There is a prophecy that needs to be understood to figure out how to save them all but with the forces of evil getting more powerful and 2 of the important people trapped this leaves the fate of everything in the hands of Matt and his other friends from across the Multiverse.
The connection between the characters is also really unique such as Matt and Rashella being twins in a different time and seeing how that connection plays out even though now they are from 2 separate worlds.

This is definately a book for someone who loves a story that will grab a hold of you and not let go. You find yourself getting lose in the journey through time and space and fighting to save your world from a threat you didn’t even know existed.

Road Rage (Outlaw Series Book 4) by Katrina Kantas – Review by Kerry Carr

Road Rage (OUTLAW, #4)Road Rage by Karina Kantas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really loved this story. It is a fast paced romance featuring bikers which I love. One of the things I really like was that the female character in this story is a strong determined woman who take no rubbish off anyone. This is refreshing because most stories of this kind the female feels like a more submissive person out of the couple.

Gem has had a very bad past life and she has finally got herself back on track. After leaving a biker gang she vowed never again. That is until she met Shep.
Shep seemed different to the other guys. The whole group seemed different but was her instincts wrong about him?

What follows is a story of one womans struggle to fit into a world which is male dominated. How far will Gem or and what will she put up with to be accepted? Will she ever find true love within the MC? And what happens when her past and present collide with very dangerous consequences?

A Bride for NoahA Bride for Noah by Cheryl Wright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this sweet historical romance. The author did an amazing job of transporting the reader back to a time of real romance. I loved the characters if Noah and Mary and how they both want the same thing but are too scared to tell each other.

Noah needs a bride. As part of his fathers will he needs to marry in order to inherit his land.
Mary is living in poverty and her father wants her to marry a man who is nothing but trouble. So when she is told about a gentleman who is looking for a wife she jumps at the chance.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It is a fast paced romance filled with passion, love and danger. The author does an amazing job at describing the thoughts and feelings of our characters. You can actually feel the fear that Sofia goes through and feel her growth from a scared woman into a woman that has confidence and blossoms with the love of a good man.

The Clockwork Solution (The Clockwork Chronicles Book 2)The Clockwork Solution by Michelle D. Sonnier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It is the second book in The Clockwork Chronicles Series. Even though I haven’t read the first story I still really enjoyed this book and I was able to follow the story without a problem. I love Arabella’s character. She is so determined to make changes that even when things seem against her she is determined to push through.
This is a story about Arabella. She is a witch who’s magical gift is technomancy. After being bound as a witch she is sent on an assignment to Ireland to figure out why there is a famine. And this is where the story really gets fun as Arabella has to overcome lots of dangers that are stopping her getting the answers she needs. Knowing that 2 witches before her have lost their life on this quest Arabella knows hers is at risk as well.

This is a story filled with magic, danger and twists and turns that keeps you guessing. This book also ends leaving you wanting more. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Daire’s Devils (Daire’s Devils Series Book 1) by Danielle Ackley-McPhail – Review by Kerry Carr

Daire's DevilsDaire’s Devils by Danielle Ackley-McPhail
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really good fast paced adventure. The author does an amazing job of describing the scenes to make the world out in space seem as realistic as possible. You feel yourself caught up in the story and guessing the motives of every character you meet.
It’s a story about a special ops group called Daire’s devils. They are at the far ends of space protecting the colony from invaders. It seems a straight forward job until someone trys to get their hands on a new prototype aircraft. The problem is is the enemy someone from the outside or someone within their ranks.

It becomes a guessing game trying to unravel who is behind it all and leaves you feeling throughout that story that you can’t trust anyone even the people you think you know.

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters) by Marianne Rice – Review by Kerry Carr

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters)A Hundred Wishes by Marianne Rice
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really emotional and at times funny romance. It is third book in the Band of Sisters series. The author does a great job with these characters. She takes the devastating accident that happens to Gina and really shows you how this effects a person even after the fact. Gina has been through so much and still fights everyday however she is still a strong woman who speaks her mind which is what I enjoy. Her strength is inspiring.

Bryce wants to get to know Gina. He didn’t know he was looking for someone until he met her but her attitude towards him makes him wonder if the attraction is mutual. He also gets the feeling that she is hiding something from him. Something that stops her from giving herself to him completely but he can’t understand what it is or what he needs to do to get her to share that thing with him.

This story is definately a rollercoaster of emotions. The things the couple go through keeps you wondering if their relationship with ever succeed. There are places where you feel like begging Gina to tell him just so they can move forward together but you also feel the fear that Gina has of being rejected.
It is a beautiful story about when you find the one you need to fight no matter the barriers that you need to overcome and Gina needs to learn to let her guard down and let someone into her life.

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, #4)Savage Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book 4 in the Mafia Elite series and they just keep getting better and better. I have loved all these stories for the romance, danger and action that is packed into them. The characters are so well written that they are a joy to read about. Even though the Mafia bosses are tough hard men we see the softer side to them when they are with the person they love. This is Marco and Elena.

Marco is the boss of La Rosa family. For years he thinks the love of his life has died but now he knows that’s not true and he will stop at nothing to make her his. However there is a threat from the Russians that want her dead but no one can understand why?

Elena has gone into hiding from the Russians. They murdered her mum and for some reason they won’t stop until she is also taken care of. With this threat now finding her she has to return to the protection of the Mafia family. She has always loved Marco but his attitude towards her has always been hostile so why is he going out of his way to help her now?

This story has so many twists that you are gripped from beginning to end. There are so many secrets that are revealed which shocked me and kept me reading.
Can Marco protect his love from harm? Will the secrets of Elena’s past come between them and when the secrets are revealed what will that mean between the La Rosa family and the Russians?

Wild Hare’s Daughter (Wild Hares) by Laura Koerber – Review by Kerry Carr

Wild Hare's DaughterWild Hare’s Daughter by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning. The author does an amazing job of bringing magic and magical beings into the normal world and making them feel realistic. Amy comes across as a typical teenager who’s trying to juggle family, friends and school while also finding her path.

Amy is on the search her real dad. She thinks she has figured out who he is and really needs to talk to him because something strange is happening. Amy has learnt she can’t fly.
Amy feels this is something to do with her dad because her mum is normal and shows no magical powers but with her mother keeping the identity of her father secret she has to try and figure it out on her own.

When strange things start happening in her small town she knows there are other magical people in her town but who are they?
As Amy trys to continue with life as normal as possible while she tries to work things out she also learns a big lesson. You can’t always trust the people you think you can.

The Bear at Midnight (Orkneyinga Murders Book 4) by Lexie Conyngham – Review by Kerry Carr

The Bear at Midnight (Orkneyinga Murders #4)The Bear at Midnight by Lexie Conyngham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the series and even though I haven’t read the first 3 books I still really enjoyed this one. I think if you read the books in order you would get a greater understanding for the characters but it doesn’t mean that reading this as a standalone spoils the story but it was still an amazing read and I can’t wait for more. The author does an amazing job at describing the scenes. You actually feel like you are in the great hall, experiencing everything that’s happening. The author takes you  a historical  murder mystery set in the Orkney. It is written so well that I didn’t know who was responsible for the murder until it was revealed which I loved as i normally realise who the suspect is before then so it was refreshing to have no clue until it was revealed.

When the leader dies and other people turn up murder our two main characters, Ketil and Sigrid must solve the murder before the killer strikes again.
With enemies around every turn, a fight to become the new leader and now these mysterious murders the pair need to figure it out before its too late and gets too close for comfort.

The View from HereThe View from Here by Leon Stevens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this sci-fi adventure story. The author does an amazing job of world building and the description of the world inside the cave to the world outside the cave is what really makes the reader feel they have crossed over into another place.

The characters are well written. Both are adventurous and wanting to learn more about the place they have found no matter how crazy it seems.

The main point of this story for me is the characters resilience and their determination to survive what ever this new world throws their way. Using only their combined knowledge they need to figure out what this place is and why its there. What I liked is the fact that the characters do get things wrong which makes them feel very real and human.
You are taken on a adventure into a strange unknown world. And they only have their  knowledge and health  to survive the tasks and things that will be thrown at them. Will they survive this unique and different world?

Face the Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 5) by Michele Sims – Review by Kerry Carr

Face the FireFace the Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this paranormal romance. This books can be read as a standalone but I think if you read from the start of the series it will give you a better understanding of the characters. However I have just read this one and I was still able to enjoy and follow the story.
The author does an amazing job with her characters and building the world around them.
Bella and Miles are both part of the music industry. From the outside they have everything you could wish for. Bella’s and Miles relationship is strong but it does get tested a lot in this story.
Add to this the hidden secret about Miles’s gifts which is hard to keep hidden when they are so much in the public eye.

Bella wants to settle down and raise her twins. Her priority is them and their happiness and safety, but Miles seems to be focused more on his career and business than being with his family. With the added stress of Pharaoh, causing trouble and rifts in their marriage. Can they work through it all and stay strong or will something finally succeed in pulling them apart?

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 2) by Anise Storm – Review by Kerry Carr

Imperfectly Yours (Titans of Manhattan #2)Imperfectly Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the Titans of Manhatten. This story is a real emotional rollercoaster. It deals with some difficult subject such as miscarriage and depression. What I love is the way the author gives both side of the story so we can see how both parties react to their problems.
The main characters of Anton and Elsa are really well written and their love story at the beginning is perfect. Both of them are strong independent people with jobs they love. All either of them want is to get married and have a family.

Their dream seems to be coming true until tragedy strikes. This results in Elsa closing off and pushing Anton away. Now alone and feeling thar Anton doesn’t care she falls into a pit of drink and drugs to cope with her pain.

Anton loves Elsa more than life itself. While he’s dealing with his own grief he sees Elsa on a downward spiral and wants to help her. But will she accept his help? Will their love be strong enough to survive when they realise that their love isn’t perfect? Can they be happy with an imperfect love?

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder on the Moor Book 3) by Andrea Matthews – Review by Kerry Carr

Shake Loose the Border (Thunder On The Moor Book 3)Shake Loose the Border by Andrea  Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in The Thunder On The Moor. I really recommend reading these books in order as without doing that the story would be hard to follow as there as loads of characters and clans and time periods. Saying that if you do read from the first book you will be completed gripped by the story. It has the perfect mix of romance, adventure, danger and history as well an an element of time travel.
The author does an amazing job with the historical writing and descriptions which really bring the story to life as well as give an insight into the past history between the Clans in Scotland and England.
The time travel element of this story is a unique twist which allows our characters to find love with someone from a different time period to their own which makes the story all the more unique.
In this story we learn more about the Clans disagreements and the fights between them, we also learn more about the time travelling and how the way Maggie and Dylan travelled to meet their loves isn’t a way to travel forever. When things get dangerous Maggie returns to her time period to be safe but with the magic she used to travel weakening will she be able to travel back to be with the man she loves?

Theodore’s Ring by Stacy-Deanne – Review by Kerry Carr

Theodore's RingTheodore’s Ring by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It was a very action packed adventure which kept twisting and turning at every turn. You never knew who were the good guys and the bad and the final twist will surprise you most of all. I love both Cam and Lydia characters. Both of them are strong and determined people on their own but their insecurities make them feel human. One thing that you definately feel is the love between them and how strong their desire is to protect each other.

The story starts with Cam being kidnapped. He has buried a ring which is worth a load of money and now the bad guys want it. By kidnapping Cam they can then use Lydia to find this ring in exchange for Cams life. However things don’t go to plan and Lydia is left wondering who is the friend and who is the enemy. Add to this confusion an ex who is trying to worm his way back into Lydia’s life by force if necessary and Lydia has a hell of a job remaining focused on saving her love Cam.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have loved all these stories. The author does an amazing job of mixing paranormal and romance and making each story unique and different. The characters in this story are what really make it come alive and be believable. This is definately a story of friends to lovers.

In this story we meet Katrina and Gabe. Both of them are sex demons, both of them are trying to live life better to make up for their pasts. Gabe  is free of Satan’s rule thanks to a agreement he made, however Katrina is not.
Katrina sets up a app to help supernatural beings connect with people purely for a physical connection. The app was very popular until Gabe came along teaching about emotional and romantic connections.
These leads to Katrina and Gabe to butt heads. Gabe wants to prove to Katrina that he doesn’t mean her harm and things the best way to do this is gain her freedom from Satan. However there is always a catch. To get Katrine’s freedom and Gabe’s manhood back he needs to make Katrine fall in  love with him.

Katrine had a similar plan but hers is to show Gabe that physical connections is more important that emotional.

Bit both their plans go wrong when the feelings they share start off as fake and then change into something very real that neither of them expected.

Exiled South by Harriet Cannon – Review by Kerry Carr

Exiled SouthExiled South by Harriet Cannon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story was a beautiful read. It is heartwarming but at times heartbreaking. I love Lizbeth character. She is a strong women who has had her world turned upside down.
This is a story about love, loss and family and finding out who you really are and where you come from.
The reader is taken on a journey with Lizbeth as she tries to find out her family history. What she doesn’t expect is that the Gordon family reached more areas that she originally thought and as she starts to find this out it gives her chance to face her familys history and also heal herself.
The author does am amazing job with descriptions and building the stories and characters. You feel like finding Lizbeth’s family is like retracing your own family history. This story also covers subject such as slavery and racism but it is done so in a respectful and informative way educating the reader as well as providing the reader an escape from everyday life.

Rebecca Steele Living the Dream (Rebecca Steele series Book 3) by Joanne Patterson – Review by Kerry Carr

Rebecca Steele Living The Dream (The Rebecca Steele series Book 3)Rebecca Steele Living The Dream by Joanne Patterson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the series and I really enjoyed it. The book is fast paced and I would advise reading the other books before this as this one does hit the ground running and it maybe confusing if you don’t know the story from the other 2 books.

In this book Rebecca is back. Her career is going from strength to strength, she is married to her love and together they are raising her step daughter. Things couldn’t be more perfect.
However things aren’t as they seem and with people from both Rebecca’s and Chance’s pasts turning up to make life difficult can their relationship survive?
Add to this the pressure that arrives in the form of their step- daughter Cassie following in Rebecca’s footsteps and having a talented for singing. We have seen Cassie grow up through these books and I’m so happy to see her become the confident little girl she should be.
If you love romance stories with cowboys, horses, country singing and a fast paced story then this is definately a series for you.

States of GraceStates of Grace by Mandy  Miller
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. It was a book that kept me gripped from beginning to end and I still didn’t see the end coming. I love Grace’s character. She is someone who isn’t perfect. She has her demons with drugs and alcohol but she is working her way back to the person she used to be. I love the fact she is a very strong, determined character. That she is a fighter who refuses to give up or quit for an easier life.

This story has mystery, murder, court drama, corrupt cops and more. You never know what’s going to happen next and if Grace will succeed with the odds stacked against her. But with a young girl’s life on the line Grace will stop at nothing to get to the truth.

Forbidden Moon (The Shadow Chronicles Book 3) by CR Robertson – Review by Kerry Carr

Forbidden MoonForbidden Moon by C.R.  Robertson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 3 of The Shadow Chronicles. I proved this paranormal romance as much as the previous ones. These books are full of passion and also lots of action and danger than makes them a gripping read. I love the characters, both Levi and Tasha are strong dominant characters and it’s nice to see how equal they are. Even though it is in Levi’s dominant wolf nature to protect his love he realises that Tasha is just as capable and strong as he is. They need to learn how to work together if they are going to defeat the Master Hellspawn and stop evil from destroying the world.

We are back with Tasha and Levi. Tasha is a vampire/witch and Levi is a werewolf. Their love and relationship shouldn’t work but it does and the power they have between them makes them a force to be reckoned with.
In this book we find them on the hunt for another Elemental witch. It is only with this witch that they can close the gates to hell and stop the hellspawn from attaching. However things aren’t that simple. The powers of evil know that Levi and Tasha are weaker apart so they try to get between them. Will the couple split or will they remain strong together?
When an old power is discovered the secrets it holds makes both Tasha and Levi rethink everything they know about their species. This is a story of good against evil and the battle that they go through to get their happy ending.

The story is full of adventure as Tally and her father travel the world. Every place they go they uncover secrets and with the help of Tally’s angel Jophiel. Now they are in for a race against time in Canada. The fantasy adventure includes ancient curses, gold hunters and mystical wolves. This book is definately a great family adventure and I do recommend you read the first book as this gives you the back story of Tally and how she came to be in possession of Jophiel.
This story kept me gripped from the beginning. Tally is a very strong and determined young girl who makes friends where ever she goes which is nice to read. As she travels to different countries she fully immerses herself and the reader into the culture.

The Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III – Review by Kerry Carr

The UnholyThe Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really interesting story about good vs evil. The author has an amazing way of bringing a work of fiction to life and making the reader feel like it could actually happen in reality. The characters are really well written. You can feel the trauma and emotion that Claire goes through everyday since losing her mother and how it affects her decisions years later.
This story is unique in the way it has great links with history and beliefs such as medicine women.
Claire is trying to get on with her life. Since losing her mum her life hasn’t been the same. She doesn’t want to embrace her life as the last medicine women as all she knows is that life leads to death so she carries on denying her heritage and trying to find her mothers killer.
Eventually she realises she needs to face her past and her heritage and embrace it if she stands any chance of facing her mothers killer.

This story is a rollercoaster of emotions. It’s also a good insight into religion and how it can be used for good and evil depending on your take on things. You can feel the anguish Claire goes through as she fights what is her destiny and overwhelming fear she goes through as she prepares to fight the evil that killed her mother.

Master Trentino (Masters of the Consulate Book 3) by Sylvia Black – Review by Kerry Carr

Master TrentinoMaster Trentino by Sylvia   Black
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Masters of the Consulate series. I have loved these books. They can be read as a standalone however to fully enjoy the story that runs through them all you really need to read them from the beginning. I love the characters in these stories. The men are dark and dangerous and fiercely protective of their own. The women are also strong and determined.
In the book we meet Trentino. Trentino is part of the Consulate. His main focus is to protect his vampire brothers and stop the corruption that is happening. However things change when he finds women of a enemy’s dying.
Face with the prospect of letting her die or saving her Trentino chooses to save her. However will that prove to be a big mistake.
Angel is a psychic. All her life she has been brought in to believe that vampires are evil and then enemy. So how will she cope when she realises that she is now the one things she hates?

Together they need to work out who the traitors are, save her brother Roman, and work out these new and very strong feelings they have for each other. Can they work at uniting the humans and vampires or will Angel now being  a vampire make the war against them even stronger?
