I truly believe the author has the way with in this book. As well as that, she teachers her readers wonderful life lessons that truly can be cherished. This book was a book I enjoyed reading to my neighbors kids. The artwork is fantastic. I love the fine details alone of the artwork but as well as the story itself of Jake as his friends. The book itself has life lessons I find, which is really wonderful I think.
Jake loves his adventures down the trail. Sometimes scary things happen though, and he is not sure what it is. He feels afraid, and that is ok, as we all get afraid sometimes .I loved that this book with Jake and as well as his friends, as it shows how much friends can impact your life in a positive way, You are never alone no matter what you face, or feel, you got fiends at your side as Jake did o help you. They face the unknown together and realize that something that seemed scary was actually beautiful in the end. These are the powers facing your fears with your friends, at your side, and well it makes everything less scary in the end.
The book itself is so powerful with its life lessons, and to me that is what makes it a wonderful book. The author, she addresses life lessons as I said helps children to understand common emotions or things they may experience as they go through life and as they grow up. The boo is cute and sweet and is a book all can enjoy. Reading of Jake and his adventures is touching and sweet. Its a book I do very much highly recommend. Its a good book, a good story, and full of happy smiles upon reading.

Creative, educational and fun This is the 3rd book in the series and continues to follow Jake as he navigates through friendships, anxieties and the world around him. It is filled with gorgeous illustrations and a beautiful message of acceptance, tolerance and inclusion of others regardless of their differences. This is another book that is a must for any home or school library. The included resources are educationally rich and build onto the story so well. I highly recommend this book to schools and families of all abilities and ages.

Jake The Growling Dog Shares His Trail is another winner! This book does a fantastic job of explaining the fear of new and different things and it cn be scary. Worry can get away from us all. When Jake realizes what the new and different item is, his reaction shows how it is okay to react. Be honest. We are big fans of Jake the Growling Dog as he teaches wonderful values. As the parent of a child with autism, I love this book and will actually be getting a couple copies to share with my son’s therapists and doctor. Highly recommend.

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail: A Touching Tale of Sharing, Disability Awareness, Kindness, and Overcoming Fears by Samantha Shannon is a fabulously written tale describing disability, fear and acceptance which children can better understand that not everyone is the same and even though we are all different, we all need kindness and friends who like you you for who you are and not what you may look like or sound like. The story points out fear and how one can learn to not be afraid of things that are different. The author sets out all the various issues within the book so well, a child would get a lot out of this story. So I encourage all the littlies to go on an adventure with Jake and his friends and learn all the lessons that are intertwined in the story. 5 stars.

In this wonderfully illustrated children’s book, author Samantha Shannon explores many challenging and important childhood emotions. One of the over all themes was how to acknowledge and face fear of the unknow. This book demonstrates how compassion, acceptance, and friendship are vital tools to use in life. The story line is easy to follow, and the complexities of fear-based reactions are demonstrated in a simple yet engaging way. My 7-year-old read it out loud as part of her summer reading practice and loved it. We will be looking into the other books by this author as well!

This book and the two before it are such wonderful books for kids. This book teaches kids that although others make look different, sound different, or learn different doesn’t mean you need to be scared. You can make friends with all types of people and animals. This book also includes some helpful tips in the back that helps you to explore your child(rens) fears and some steps to help they overcome said fears. It also has a section on sharing, being kind, donating old stuff, helping others, and much more. I read this book with my 6 and 9 year old. They loved the characters, the illustrations, and the activities in the back. I’d definitely recommend this book to all growing and learning kids.

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail (Jake the Growling Dog Book 3) by Samantha Shannon. I loved this book and each book before in this series. Its a great series of books for kids age 6-11. Its the continuing story of Jake the dog and his friends. This story is about Jake’s favorite trail and how he encounters something different on the trail and is not sure of it. He even loses sleep over it so his friends come and stay with him to make him feel better. When they finally figure out what it is they realize its not scary and not something to make him lose sleep. This book tackles the world of disabilities and how everyone is not the same but that’s not a bad thing. The illustrations in this book are beautiful and will keep your child interested from cover to back. Beautiful book with a beautiful message!

Jake the Growling Dog: Shares his Trail by Samantha Shannon was a cute story with an important message. The illustrations by Lei Yang were beautiful and would hold any child’s attention. I enjoyed the story and the overall message The characters were adorable and showed everyone can be scared. I wish the style was consistent. Because some lines rhymed, I kept trying and expecting that flow but it through me off while reading out loud. I appreciated the back of the book which had activities for children and help for parents to assist their children who may be easily scared. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would considering purchasing for other friends with younger kids.

Go Jake, Go! I picked up this story to read to my daycare kiddos, and they absolutely loved the artwork in the story. I have to admit, the children in my care are a little younger than those that would really take away the overall message in this Jake the Growling Dog story, but they did sit for the duration of the reading, and asked questions! I really enjoyed how the story came across, and how important inclusion is, and to teach it right from the get-go. The only thing I found was that the story was VERY long and I felt like the build-up had the girls sort of losing interest until we find the culprit. Overall, a wonderful read, and I would recommend it to any parents out there. Well done, Ms. Shannon!

Absolutely loved this book. My 7 and 3 year old were engrossed from the moment Jake’s adventures started. We really loved seeing how Jake worked through his feelings, this was a great moment I spent talking with my kids about their feelings at the same time. I particularly loved the end of the book and how we could talk about the different ways to combat our fears. Samantha Shannon did a fabulous job in this book!

“Be a friend to those you meet who might be different from you. You’ll find many things in common with new friends, pure and true!”
The illustrations are beautifully done and draw in the eye. The story is short and sweet and will draw you in, worried for Jake and the new found mysterious prints in the woods. The new friend he makes is a sweet representation that not all animals look a certain way, and same with any human friend you may meet. This book teaches us not to judge a book by its cover and it’s what is inside that counts the most, but that even though someone or something may have a disability of some sort in our eyes, it might be what makes them stronger.

This story was beautifully written and illustrated. It provides the rhymes and images to keep young ones involved. My niece especially enjoyed this story at bedtime. The lesson at the end to accept others who are different than yourself and to celebrate diversity with your friends was very touching. I also enjoyed the validation of feelings throughout the story and the feeling guide at the end. Quite a lovely read for any child.

Jake the Growling Dog Shares His Trail by Samantha Shannon is quite a cute, feel-good children’s book, that is suitable for all ages- but particularly aimed at kids aged 5 to 11 years. It’s a cute and sweet read with wonderful lessons to be learned. The story teaches sharing, facing your fears, talking about your worries, and promotes inclusivity. There were also some great activities, tips, and guides to help parents and teachers encourage and teach their children. The illustrations are also very colourful and interesting. They really do bring Jake and the whole ‘story’ to life- as well as making it something that will capture a child’s attention and imagination. Another great little story with a wonderful message. The other ‘Jake the Growling Dog’ books are really worth checking out as well! Happy Reading!

This is a series that I have read from the beginning. It is a fun series about a dog, Jake and his adventures. They are fun stories that have great graphics that add to the story. This book is no different but I would highly suggest reading the previous books as well. In this book Jake and his favorite trail. But he has some worries about it and has trouble sleeping because of it. His friends come over and decide not to let him worry by himself. Will they be able to help him so that he can have fun on his favorite trail? I really enjoy the characters in this story. Jake’s best friend Neet is a great supporting character. This is just a fun story that is great for all ages of children. It is interactive and has a meaning behind it. I highly recommend this book.

This is a beautifully written story made for children. I read the story to my 6 year old son and he really enjoyed it as well. It’s a story of friendship and about facing things that scare you . With his friends joining him for company he’s looking for the cause of his fear and facing it head on. What they find is a new friend with a disability. It was beautiful how the author managed to get the point across that even though the dog with the disability looked different and that could be seen as scary in reality they were just like us.
The author writes it in a way that is easy to understand and follow by all ages and the rhyming makes the read enjoyable and easy for younger children.

He’s proud to say that he made it with his own four paws
What happens when Jake fears something new on his hike?
Will he learn that despite our differences, we are so much alike?
Jake loves his favorite trail, but when both he and Neet encounter something different on the trail, their minds are full of worry. The two friends find it difficult to sleep, face new feelings that question their love for sharing, and even find it hard to enjoy some of their favorite things. When Jake’s friends Bodhi and Luna come over to play, they won’t let their friend worry all alone. Will Jake be able to overcome his fears and have fun? And what is this new strange thing that’s trying to share his trail? Kindness, open minds, and aid from loved ones fill this tale with love and compassion.

When Samantha had her first child in 2009, she wanted to write a picture book based on her sister’s dog, Jake. While visiting her sister in the Pacific Northwest, Samantha realized that Jake growled all the time. He growled while playing frisbee, getting an ear rub, running, and even when he was sleeping! Despite his unusual choice of noisemaking, Jake is a sweet dog, which makes him the perfect character for a children’s picture book.
With Samantha’s background in educational counseling, Jake’s first story includes a character education & loving-kindness activity for families, schools, & counselors. This is such a sweet children’s book with nice illustrations. This is a story most children will relate to, especially those who are interested in the animals. There are many endangered species in this world and Mornin, the super bird realizes that he does not want to go extinct. He wants his friends and family to thrive and flourish. So he sets out with a staunch determination to keep the animals, and the nature from extinction and he passes on his learnings to the other birds and also to the young readers. It is a very captivating read, I enjoyed it thoroughly and I would give it to my boys to read it.

Cute book with a great message! This book is a great way to teach children about extinction and how they can help. I liked that it was written from the bird’s perspective. This would be a good book for lower elementary students to get them to help animals. Teachers could include this book in their science units. The little song the birds sang was adorable and kids would love it.

Mornin The Super Bird Mornin Finds A Way To Stop Extinction By Jules Heartly ☆☆☆☆☆ What a fun and educational story for children. This is a picture book of about 50 pages. But within those pages, children will learn about the different birds and their habitats. As Mornin goes about his day of picture taking, he discovers some birds are missing. He called upon his friends (the readers) to help save the planet. This story is well written and easy for the younger children to follow. I enjoyed this story as well as having one of my oldest grandchild read it to the others, so I could watch their reactions. They Loved It! Well done Jules Heartly! Well Done!

Mornin the Super Bird- Mornin Finds A Way To Fight Extinction by Jules Heartly is a book for young readers about preservation. Mornin makes videos to share with his friends when one day he finds statues of animals that have become extinct. In an effort to prevent his friends and family members from going extinct, he recruits his animal friends in spreading awareness to people. The video featured the various extinct animals but ended with a song to motivate children to save future generations from going extinct.
This was a cute book that portrayed a message of preservation. Heartly includes links that are teachable articles. She also includes a YouTube video for a read along of the book. I found the words in the book to be simple and easy to read which make it perfect for school age children. I rate this a 5-star book for its informative and imaginative delivery against environmental destruction.

This was such a cute book and I really enjoyed it. Jules Heartly has created a really cute way to teach young children about caring for the planet and how we all need to work together to save it. The book allows children to see the extinction of animals from the point of view of the animals. Animals have feelings too. I enjoyed this book by Jules Heartly and I think she has a future in children’s books.

This will make an excellent storybook for preschool to second grade. The plot is simple and the pictures are colorful and majestic.. This is an educational book and an entertaining story.. Once you start reading this story, it has a theme that reinforces the theme of the story. It tells of Mornin, a small bird who gets all of her friends together and they talk about extinction. I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to share it with my granddaughter.

Mornin’ the Super Bird sees statues of some animals that have went extinct. Determined to make a difference and to save his family and friends from the same fate, he makes a video and it goes viral!
Mornin’ the Super Bird is a cute, sweet story that shows children the importance of taking care of the planet for not only ourselves but animals too. The examples given in the story are simple, easy ways that children of all ages can do to make a difference. I also appreciate that there are several references at the end of the story to help children learn more about what they can do to help the Earth and its inhabitants!
