Coyote is a nature spirit who lived in the desert all his life. After climate change ruined what he remembers as home, Coyote decides to find his new home elsewhere. He jumps in his truck and just drives with a few different people to keep him company along the way. Coyote tries relentlessly to find where he belongs while fighting the urge to return back to what he is used to.

I really enjoyed the writing of this author. They have a way with words. The world building was portrayed amazingly. The way the author described all the different sceneries made me feel like I was actually looking at the same thing Coyote was.

This book is a dystopia set in the near future with hints of magic along the way. It was a calm short read and I would recommend settling in and reading this book.

I did not expect to be enthralled by this book but as I was reading, it was like nothing else around me mattered. This paranormal story is about Coyote, a shape shifter that is trying to find his way to where he belongs. In a heat of the moment decision, he leaves behind everything to take a trip and do some “soul searching”.

Coyote is a complex character. He keeps you guessing as to what he will do next. There is plenty of background story for him and his people, which opens the door to understanding his personality. Throughout his journey, Coyote learns a lot about himself and realizes there is more to him than he ever imagined. This short story of a post dystopian world is so detailed that you get something from every single page, giving it the quality of a longer story in a smaller package. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

Dystopian novels will always be my ride or die, for as much as I enjoy contemporary/historical romance and mystery, this will always have a spot in my heart, mind, and soul. This novella is right up there too, from the very start we are curious as to how the Guardian Spirit of a desert valley is going to find his new residence, what with combating the climate change and the changes that he just can’t handle anymore. Coyote has been through so much through his lifetime, and it’s scary to know that the one thing that we as a people can almost control, will cause an irreversible impact on not only us, but the wildlife and nature that prospered long before our time.

This author really allowed for the reader to connect with the changes that are brought up through Coyote’s point of view, and I absolutely adored the way we got to watch him develop and ultimately better himself along the way. His connections with the characters he runs into ultimately changes throughout the pages as well, and in a short period of time, we want to meet, explore, and know more of these people. There is good and bad in this world, and it’s truly about how you decide to approach these things that make all the difference. I do believe that there is a home for all of us. I will be reading the authors work to my daughter as well, the perspective is so refreshing, and alive. Well done!

Set in a dystopian future this book seemed interesting so I decided to give it a fair try. There are a lot of characters in this story so keeping up on who’s who can be challenging. While this story is about a road trip that is exactly how it feels as we read through the thoughts of Coyote. The description feels like you are right there with the characters and can see the trip playing out like a movie in your mind. I found myself reminiscing about road trips taken in the past.

The main character of our book is a coyote shapeshifter named Jim who takes this trip with no destination in mind. After recalling the numerous deaths around him including his beloved planet he needs a new start somewhere to call home. On this road trip he comes across a cast of characters, some good and some not as good but definitely lost and need help to find a good path in life again. Along the way he realizes that what he is searching for may not be a place at all but a purpose for being alive. Can Coyote Jim find a new place to call home? Will he find his purpose in life and is he courageous enough to step into it?

Overall, this was a very quick read. You definitely have to pay close attention because if your mind wanders or gets distracted it is hard to keep up. Especially with the amount of characters in this book and their interaction with Coyote Jim. It is a new take on ancestral spirits and a dystopian world. This book definitely takes you on a trip both figuratively and literally, definitely worth a read if you are looking for something new and a bit different!

A dystopian fantasy set in a post-climate change future, in which a coyote shapeshifter goes in search of a new home. Shapeshifter and guardian spirit of a desert valley in Nevada, Jim, is forced to leave his home, due to the heat and drought which has caused the death of his friends. As he journeys through the Pacific Northwest looking for a good place to live, he meets people along the way. Jim ultimately discovers a new purpose for his existence following his road trip. This is an original story with a dystopian setting and an intriguing storyline which also has a climate change warning to it. Jim is a unique character who I felt engaged with throughout the story. The post-climate change dystopian future really came vividly to life from the descriptive narrative and world building.

Coyote’s Road Trip by Laura Koerber. This is a great dystopian/fantasy story. Its not my favorite genre but it was so good I loved it. Its the story of Coyote who is a shape shifter and he’s on a journey to discover his self identity. He is trying to decide what his purpose is and on that journey he’s finding out what is most important. He believes what is most important is happiness and finding your purpose. While on this journey he makes some crazy decisions but doesn’t really hurt anyone. The author makes this read so real that you feel as if you are actually in these beautiful places. I read this book in one sitting! Such a good read!

This story was definitely an interesting one. While most dystopian stories areaction based this one was the perfect pace, it had that certain feel like your taking a long drive on a Sunday afternoon. I also really loved that it was told from the first person point of view, it was definitely one of my most unique reads this year. When i first saw the beautiful cover I had a feelinh that I would enjoy this book and its originality and I was definitely right.

This was a very interesting read! This was a quick dystopian read. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and will definitely be reading more from them. The descriptive words help you visualize the scenes in the story. This story makes you want to take a road trip and have an actual good conversation. Its really an interesting perspective to read about. I believe this is a prequel to another of this authors books so I’ll be picking that one up soon!

I enjoyed reading this shorter paranormal story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. One of the things I enjoy most about this author is her ability to pull me in with her attention to details. I also enjoy her writing style that not only makes the story pop but also makes it come to life. I found this book to be fast paced and engaging. It is a hard to put down story about a shapeshifter that is looking for a new home. He will take you on an adventure of not only finding where he belongs but also finds so much more than he expected. This is a great story with characters that are connectable and creative. The growth of the story and characters made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a great story that I highly recommend. You don’t want to miss this one.

Coyote Jim is a shape shifting coyote stuck in a world that has gone to heck. Climate change has ruined his desert climate so he’s taken off on a journey from Nevada up towards Washington. On the way, he sees how much the climate has been ruined by the humans. Though fiction, the perspective of seeing the world through the eyes of a nature spirit puts a new spin. Like the myths of the coyote, he gets into mischief, good and bad, just to get by. He tries to help others. I found the ghost characters really fascinating. Every book from this author leaves me wanting to dive more into all the topics I find in these books: myths, climate change, etc. The book was incredibly profound. I feel there were so many little things to pick up. The characters all felt like they each had their own quirks to their personalities. TJ was a messed up teen that Jim made sure went were she needed and didn’t end up in the wrong hands. He made sure Jane and her dad were well taking care of. The community that Raven had made was just ripe for making friends. It seemed to be just what Jim needed. The plot was fairly smooth, a little choppy in spots, but that may have been interruptions on my end. I loved the tone and the descriptions were incredible of all the sunsets and the ocean. The desert and the mountain descriptions made it so easy to picture them just like I was there. It is such a descriptive book that you feel like you are experiencing it with him. A wonderful book that I highly reccomend to all.

I really enjoyed this short read. The author does an amazing job of mixing genres in one book which makes it a very unique and interesting read. I love the theme if climate change and the effects it is having on the world. I love how the author writes our main character Coyote Jim.
Coyote Jim is a spirit/shapeshifter. He had lived a long life and had seen many changes and people come and go. From the original people to what he terms new people which is us. He is now on a journey to find a new home. His journey isn’t straight forward and we meet some interesting characters along the way.
Coyote Jim is a good soul who sometimes doesn’t bad things to survive and get by but deep down he is a good person as the things he does is never with malicious intent.

It was a very interesting read and journey and fully captures how we are humans are and the negative effect we are having on our natural world

This book was more than a well worth read. I was fascinated by the story and what the story came to be. It was something different compared to most stories that are considered dystopian. None the less, I was very intrigued and enjoyed myself as I read.

Coyote was a character that really was captivating. What he was and is was the matter to describe. A spirit, but belonging and self discovery was the mode he was in. I was very much intrigued as he went on his journey, he passed others and met others, all were connected I found in this thing called life. The book and adventure was eye opening. The things we need to survive we often take for granted, and this book very much showed me not to take the small things for granted in life. Beautiful story!

This story was very heart felt to me. I very much enjoyed it It was a fast paced read for me, and I could not put this one down. I highly recommend this story, don’t pass it up, it is a rare and beautiful read!

Coyote’s Road Trip is the prequel to Raven Woman’s Tavern. It is a blend of magical realism and set in a dystopian future. It is a short and unique tale as with Laura’s other books along this line. This story touches on the topic of climate change and its effects on the world.

The mysterious Coyote Jim is a shapeshifter nature spirit as old as time. He gets up to mischief both good and bad but he is not intentionally malicious or out to hurt others. He has decided it’s time seeking to find and establish a new home. What ensues is truly an interesting road trip.

When I first choose this book to read, I had no idea that I would become so entranced in this book as I did. The storyline and the way that the author wrote the story help me captive and I finished this book in a few hours! Reading about the trials and tribulations that Coyote went through in his story was something that I had not anticipated. Reading this story genre is something not normally my first choice but I am glad that I read this because I am now a fan of this authors writing style and cannot wait to buy more books by her! This was a quick read, and I cannot wait to reread this book and relearn to love the story then as much as I have now.

I hadn’t realized when I started this book that it was a sequel to another book prior. All things considered, I really did enjoy Wild Hare’s daughter. I didn’t have any difficulty following along or relating to the characters, especially gravitating toward Amy. I really liked the writing style of this new to me author. Switching between Bobby and Amy’s perspective throughout the book really gives a larger picture and is one of my favorite elements in a lot of books I’ve read. I felt the writing was strong and the dystopian aspects mixed with reality really made this a unique story for me. I would definitely consider reading more from this author.

Intriguing magical world
Wild Hare’s Daughter is a fascinating read. Set in a dystopian world where magic exists but not accepted, the FMC finds that all is not what she believed. I enjoyed the paranormal mix of fairies, water sprites, and other creatures. This is an easy read, the writing smooth and with creative world building. Even though this can be read as a stand-alone, I feel reading Wild Hare first would enrich this story so much more.

They were just a normal kid with a normal life, albeit a quiet one with regards to friends and a loud one when it came to life at home, but living in a small town with a population of 800 can do that to a person. There is only one drawback to living where they did and that is the militia, they are a group of people who are arrogant and think that they know best, they also try to cover up their incompetence around a jailbreak and the mysterious disappearance of a congressman with rumours about magic and it just so happens that the rumour about magic is actually true.

However, for this person, living in a small town did have its advantages and finding out which of the people living there is their dad is one of them, it can be narrowed down quickly by age and the rest is a process of elimination. However, this search is narrowed down even more when they discover that that they are magical, they discover that they can fly, although it started off as just levitating in the bathroom, now they can go anywhere in the town!

This discovery also means that someone else in the town is magical and that it can only have been inherited from their dad! This is a magical tale of family, secrets and trust as one persons world changes and they have to adapt to this new situation they find themselves in, in a not too distant dystopian future.

Wow! From the first page I was hooked! I couldn’t put this book down! I absolutely loved how the story is laid out so you know exactly whose point of view you are following at every stage. Growing up in a small town, it always felt like you couldn’t ever have a secret because everyone knew everything but this story showed it is still possible not to know everything even if you think you do.

I will say there were many points in the story where I was shocked or thrown. It was not as predictable as I initially thought it would be! I loved it!

This novel was really enjoyable. Being able to go on Amy’s journey to finding out more about herself and finding her father was fun. The concept of the book was a little different than what I normally read but that made it more interesting. The world that the author created was vibrant and I found myself wishing I could spend time in it. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in reading a paranormal book that is a little different.

This was a really interesting read – it was a little out of my comfort zone but the synopsis sounded interesting so I thought that I would give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed. I found myself really engaged in the story and with Amy’s character. I was really hoping that she would find out what she wanted to about her father. There was a good amount of suspense in the story which definitely kept me wondering whilst I was reading.
I haven’t read anything by this author previously so I think I would definitely like to read the previous book to this and find out more about some of the characters.
Overall, a really interesting story and one that I would recommend.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author.

Amy.has always dreamt of flying, but she never thought it was a possibility. Her mother has never said who her father was so she starts to dig for answers. Maybe finding her dad will answer some of the questions she has. The quote I chose for Amy is: “I thought you hated the other kids. You said that just like three days ago.”

Bobby finds that his daughter is there and he’s curious. He wonders if she has any of his magic and wants to get to know her. He does know that her mom married a guy in the militia. The quote I chose for Bobby is: “I’ve been counting on humans not being stupid enough to believe in magic. I thought they’d just see this paranormal stuff as dumb.”

Highly recommended for Dystopian lovers.

Amy isn’t normal, a quality she believes is inherited from her absentee-biological-father. This wouldn’t be a bad thing, if being considered ‘magical’ wasn’t a bad thing, and the risk of exposure was small… But after a prions break, thought to be the work of a magical militia, Amy realizes she needs answers as her abilities begin to unexpectedly manifest. I liked how the story was written from two perspectives, Amy and Bobby, because of how well-defined their characters were. This dystopian world drew me in from the start, thanks to the vivid descriptions and complex characters, and held my attention throughout.

Captivating. Imaginative. Angsty.

Those are the three words I would use to describe Amy’s journey to finding a relationship with her father. She flies through her town searching for answers and trying to solve adult problems all while trying to balance high school. She does all of it with a smile on her face.

I enjoyed reading this book. It kept my attention. I wanted to keep flipping to the next page. The second book to this duology was my favorite out of the two. I enjoyed the drama between Amy and her Evil Step Dad. It was entertaining to watch Bobby try to become a father. The relationship between Taylor and Bobby is always sweet to watch. I feel as though Sally was a bit too headstrong in this one but I enjoyed watching her grow as a character. Overall this book was like watching a comfortable sitcom on a Sunday night.

This is just a side-not to the author. A few of the names got switched around in the second book. Mrs. Allen’s name and Bryan’s name got switched around to Ryan. There were a couple of grammar and spelling problems that made it hard to read at times. This doesn’t take away from my review at all, I just wanted to let the author know!

Dystopian books are a unique genre to read, and sometimes difficult. This story was anything but. The author gave us such vivid imagery and immense detail to where you were as much in the story as the other characters. Amy is a young teen who is ready and on a mission to find out who her father is in the small town she lives in. As she embarks on this journey she learns that her father is close, and magic is real….and within her. This was a great tale of self discovery and enlightenment. I would pick up another book by this author again!
