The author did a great job developing the characters and storyline. This was a delightful surprise of a book, where the reader is immersed into a world where fairies exist and attempt to blend into the human world. You simultaneously get to glimpse into the life of Amy, a teenage girl who lives with her mom and abusive stepdad and one day discovers she’s not entirely human, and Bobby, a Wild Hare fairy who works as a gardener and wrestles with his own secrets. When the two finally interact, and Amy confronts what she’s suspected all along – that Bobby is her father – they each work through the strangeness of being a part of each other’s lives. There’s so much going on in each of the two main characters’ lives, it’s kind of like looking at a dreamcatcher; bits and pieces of this and that all woven together to create something that’s cohesive and unique.
