I thoroughly enjoyed Chameleon. A fast read that engaged me early and kept me reading. Excellent world-building and descriptions. I struggled a little with some of the Spanish references I’d not encountered before (thankfully I could easily look them up on my Kindle!). I would have given this book five stars except I was so disappointed in the ending. It felt as though the author had a word count to stick to and rather than sparing a few extra hundred words to wrap things up it felt like it ended abruptly. On the plus side, I have spent the day since re-writing the ending in my head and so the story has truly not left me. Absolutely worth reading.

Unfortunately, I’m not the only one out to get the girl.
I’m Sheridan Dion, hedonism demon, out to win the heart of a human deputy one delicious baked good at a time.
I thought I was making an impression on Millicent but a secret admirer starts leaving strange, magical gifts, redirecting her attention. When the admirer’s true intentions are made known, my presence seems more of a curse than a blessing.
It figures. I finally find someone to give my heart, but chances are I’ll end up breaking hers – or get her killed.

Sons of Sindicato is an edgy romance novel written by the collaborative efforts of Cam Johns and Sonya Jesus. Braelynn has just obtained her approval of being a partner in a notorious law firm. Despite all of her diligent work, Thomas Wexler seems to not be happy making her a partner. Determined to amend any hard feelings between them, Braelynn stays late and enters his office. Wexler is working on something and seems agitated at her interruption of his privacy. Tension is building and Wexler locks the office door; this isn’t the first time Braelynn has been at the mercy of her boss; only this time she has a secret that will be her saving grace. Attorneys and clients should never be involved in anything beyond a business relationship. This suspense story involves the Giordano family and a young black female attorney needing to have a common goal. Braelynn is involved in a serious relationship with Seth, and their relationship has been a secret. After waiting on Braelynn, Seth enters the building and finds Wexler dead and his girlfriend’s clothing shredded from an attack. Immediately, his criminal mind turns on and Braelynn is thrown into the world of the Sindicato organization. Will she be able to keep her job as an attorney? Will the mob accept her as a family, or will she be left alone? The writing is intense in this short book, and I am eagerly looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I am an avid fan of suspense crime novels and Sons of Sindicatio delivers everything I look for in a 5-star book. The action, raw emotion, and uncertainty of what path each character will take held my attention all the way to the ending. The end is perfect for a seamless transition into a sequel.

Oh, My Goodness! I could not put down the book. I could relate to the main character and some of her problems and living in a small town. The story was easy to follow and I could not guess the ending of the mystery. For me the book as a good homework break to be able to relax and then get back to it. I cannot wait for the next one to see what happens and where the author, K.I. Montgomery, takes the series.

The Way to Storey by L.B Anne was such a great little read perfectly suited for middle grade aged children, or any age for that matter. It is a wonderful fast-paced fantasy adventure story- with mystery, family, myth, a journey, friendship, discovery, exploring identity, and discovering where you belong. L.B Anne is a new-to-me author and I have enjoyed my introduction to her work. I do wish that the story didn’t feel so rushed at the end and that all the threads had been tied up- otherwise it was quite a delightful adventure.

Cursed Whispers (Broderick Coven Book 3) By A.J. Renee
This is another great book to a great series. This is the third book in this series and it is my suggestion that you read them in order for a better background of the characters and because they are wonderful stories. This book had me hooked from beginning to end, I had such a hard time putting it down. Max is a vet and also a witch who can talk to animals. Claudia is a shapeshifter/werewolf who is barely alive laying in forest until she is found by Max. There is great chemistry between these two but there are more pressing matters to tend to than the pull they feel toward each other. This book is full of action, magic, witches, werewolves, and great characters. This is a must read! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next.

Why did it take me so long to read this book?? I absolutely loved it! Great read. I loved that there were demons and witches and something new for me to read, as these types of books are out of my comfort zone. Not any more!!! I love a strong woman lead character and nothing like her being a demon! Great book, easy read and I cannot wait to read more books in this series!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Eye of the Storm (Gray Ghost Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley is fast paced and action packed from the first chapter where we meet Chris and Mari in the jungles of Columbia. Mari helped save Chris’ life and she believes he will save her in return. Before that can happen, Mari must help Chris recover from his injuries so he can find a way out of the jungle.
I really enjoyed listening to this book. Regan Brown does a wonderful job adding to the story with her narration.

Chameleon by Zoe Kalo is a young adult paranormal story that will leave you questioning your own surroundings.
Paloma is sent to a convent because she was trying to contact her dead father, though this doesn’t stop her. After trying once more to contact her father, strange things start happening. Is she imagining things, or is there something more going on here? Are her new friends people she can trust, or are they half the problem? Just how far would you be willing to go in order to talk to the deceased?
This was a pretty good book! It was short and easy to read. I definitely enjoyed the first half more than the second half. I thought a few of the decisions they made were so random and annoying at times but I also loved watching how their love grew into this amazing story. They make so many big life choices together and I was on edge for their decisions at every turn. If you’re looking for a fun and fast read this is a good one!

Walker Pride (The Walker Family Series Book 1) by Bernadette Marie was a great romantic read. I loved Eric as soon as I met him: his aloofness made him stand out. I enjoyed meeting the whole Walker family and finding out their secrets. There was romance, suspense, and mystery elements throughout. I did like Susan’s character as well, a woman trying to make it on her own.

The Earl’s Scandalous Wager by Wareeze Woodson is a historical period romance that does not let the readers down. In addition to romance genre themes, there are also some mystery and drama when it comes to family betrayals with all the scheming, and plotting. The beginning starts out with the main character Emily Brumville being practically given away in a wager to settle her stepbrother’s debts. Phillip Beckley Benton is the Earl of Lenbridge is the winner of this little bet and Emily was the reluctant prize to be won. Despite these unsavory turn of events, they find themselves in a budding romance as newlyweds. It does seem the family may have other ideas as readers follow these two characters. For me, this was an enjoyable read. I recommend this book to adults who enjoy period fiction and historical romance.
What a small world we truly inhabit. Anna soon learns this as she uncovers family secrets and realizes we are all tangled in The Web of Humanity. Wow, what a great read this book was. Web of Humanity had it all: adventure, romance, espionage, and the power to make me understand others’ perspectives and the choices that are made in desperate times. Never judge a book by the cover, but more importantly, never judge a person by their appearance, beliefs, or background. I think this book appropriate for this time right now as we struggle with racism, corrupt government, unrest, corona pandemic, and war in our world. This book gives us hope and the determination to survive. Family is our greatest gift and should be cherished and loved for all eternity. Read The Web of Humanity by Maria Turchin. Her writing style is easy to read but keeps you hooked from beginning to end. Just when things seem to be worked out, nope, a new twist pops up. This story is a mix of fiction and history which brings you deep into the character, Anna’s, life and her past. Pictures are inserted throughout to keep the reader engaged and wanting more. Read this book. You will NOT be disappointed.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was pretty good and different. The characters are well written and the way they play off each other with their little quirks.
Little heard whispers of the blue skinned Zayed in hushed whispers. They said we should fear them. And her first encounter with The Zayed would not only change my opinion but change her life forever.
Save by the Zayed kidnapped by a sorcerer for powers she didn’t have than she escapes to only be gifted such powers.
This book ends with a cliff hanger…. I really enjoyed and highly recommend this story

I initially wanted to read The Way to Storey by L.B. Anne because the cover drew me in, the illustration is fun, the colors warm and inviting, it just looked like fun. But once I got into the story I couldn’t put it down, while this book is much more suited for the middle school age group this reader found it fascinating. Full of great characters, fantasy, wonderful word play that will make your imagination run wild, The Way to Story is just amazing and lighthearted. This is my first book by this author and I have to admit that as a mother of a little girl I will be keeping this author in mind for when she’s older. But personally I hope she makes it into a series because this reader for one wants to know what happens next.

I was a little leary about Southland Academy for Supernatural Youth, so many academy books follow the exact same plot line or close to it, but I was surprised. It has everything that a supernatural lover could want including suspense, friendship, obstacles, and characters that are so fun you will have no trouble connecting with them. This book is well suited for any younger audience but trust me it will keep the adults entertained as well. This is my first book by this author, and I have to say that I can’t wait to read more. So if your looking for a fun supernatural book to read this weekend then pick this one up.

1 cup of teenage angst, 1 tablespoonful of baked goods, 1 teaspoon of romance and a pinch of magic is the recipe for this hilarious YA read. With a typical teenager that questions everything and her quirky sidekick BFF this was a set up for an entertaining read. This book is a good balance of sweetness and drama and kept my interest. The writing is easy to read and the recipes were an added bonus too. Recommend for pre-teens and up.

While I love fantasy books, I am not much for sci-fi, but boy oh boy did Blue Summer: Part One by Everly Taylor catch me off guard this book was so amazing that I couldn’t put it down. The way that Ms. Everly writes she makes you feel every emotion her characters feel, and she leaves you feeling like your in the middle of the action. While it is only 133 pages Ms. Taylor provides us with a great story, fantastic characters, and given the right imagination beautiful scenery. If you are looking for a great short story then I highly recommend Blue Summer: Part One, I know I personally can’t wait to read part 2.

Luella is an eleven year old girl who lives with her Gramps next door to a lady she knows as Ma Poo, they live a quiet existence in the Florida swamps where she is homeschooled and taught all about nature, as well as the normal school subjects as well, but spends her leisure time reading or fishing with her Gramps and on the odd occasion watches a bit of TV with Ma Poo. She doesn’t get on well with the other local kids, they call her names and pick on her, but she can run away from them faster than they can catch her, but she does get in trouble for it sometimes. While they are out on the lake, Luella asks her Gramps about Storey, it is a place where Gramps says she is from, he then asks her questions about what she already knows, such as how to get there, to which Luella replies that she has to follow the birds and where her emotions need to be kept, to which she replies in her heart, but Luella doesn’t believe that Storey exists, after all, she found no evidence of it when she searched the house or when she searched for it on the computer in the local library, but when the computer goes haywire, Luella has a feeling that something is coming.
One day some men come to the house and ask where Luella is, even though she has never seen them in her life, but Gramps tells her to stay inside and out of site while he and Ma Poo deal with them, the men won’t take no for an answer and so when Gramps comes back into the house to get his shotgun, he tells Luella to go to their place and wait for him there. When he says this Luella knows it is serious and goes there to wait for him, when he eventually comes to get her it is already night time and so Luella has a bath and goes to bed thinking nothing more about it until her Gramps picks her up out of bed in the morning and tells her to hide in the hidden alcove above her dresser and to stay there no matter what happens. As usual, Luella doesn’t listen and creeps to a window to see what is happening, this is when she sees them force her Gramps into one of their cars and hears people entering the house, this is when she goes and hides while she hears them searching the entire house for her. She only comes out once she is sure she cannot sense their presence in the house and Ma Poo comes in looking for her. When she does, she tells Luella that the people will be back and that she has to gather together her things and come to her place out of the way, but things do not go smoothly and the men come back before the sun even has chance to rise and when Ma Poo is placed in danger, Luella cannot control her emotions and blasts the men away from her.
This is where Luella’s life will change completely, she leaves the only place she has ever known and follows her Gramps instructions to follow the birds and get to Storey as soon as she can, but that she has to do it on her own, as she travels she meets people along the way, but some help and some hinder. Will Luella be able to hold her own and make it to Storey, or will she lose her way and be caught by the people shadowing her every step? This is a fantasy tale of a journey of one girl against the odds which will hook you in and keep you there until you have read the entire thing.

OhMyGosh! This was the most adorable story that I can wholeheartedly recommend for children of all ages. Louella, a feisty, brilliant, little swamp girl is the heroine we all need. She is unabashedly herself, in all her feral wonder. She is clearly different from the other people she meets, she seems to be able to run faster, climb higher, and outfox enemies whenever needed. When she must seek out the fairy tale land of Storey that Gramps has taught her about, she shows all of the bravery and skill he knew she possessed. The characters she meets along the way are beautifully drawn, I felt like I could almost see them myself. This book is full of wonder and plain loveableness! L.B. Anne, I pray that you have a follow-up in the works!

I really enjoyed this story. It was a lovely adventure about a group of friends. All of them have supernatural abilities and all of them are misfits. Some struggle with their abilities and some just don’t fit in with their peers. However the group join forces to solve the mystery of a thief in their school and realising that even if they are misfits they all fit together perfect.
The authors do an amazing job of building the world and the characters. The characters are all well written and you are invested in the story and their progression right from the start.

My rating 5 out 5
Life’s a witch is book 3 in the New Orleans Nocturnes. I actually have not read the first 2 books. I loved this book so much. It is so funny. The characters are so vivid and real. I will be reading the rest of this series. Crimson is a disaster of a witch and Mike is a hot demon who can make dreams come true, what could go wrong…or right!

This book had me flipping back in forth as to who was behind the terror haunting Riley. Amy McKinley kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Xander the Navy Seal and Riley the barista have sparks flying as they get to know one another. With trouble brewing in both of their lives, this was a tense book. I loved the strength Riley has when she finds out the truth of who is behind the break ins at her apartment. I await the continuation of the next book. Will all settle down or is this just the beginning for Xander and Riley?

Luce Eterna: Part 1 is very different from the lust and sex-filled earlier books of The Luminara Series. Life has left Lucca and Lexi’s life together in upheaval. Lexi was abducted a second time while being very pregnant with their twins. Though the first few days were watching and waiting to make sure the twins’ lungs were able to function, being a Mamma is something that Lexi was made for. She is fiercely protective of their daughter, Alessia, and their son, Luciano.
Waiting for the day when Luciano would be able to come home has been gruelly for both Lucca and Lexi. Then the unspeakable happens, and they have another abduction to worry about. Lucca and Lexi have to pull together to fight a battle once again. Will the strain bring them together or force them apart? And what part will secrets held play a part in their future?

Southland Academy for Supernatural Youth by Sandra Tentler and Brooke Tentler – Review by Michelle Collier
My rating 5 of 5
As if middle school was not hard enough, finding out you are supernatural can be a lot. This mother and daughter duo have created a wonderful world full of great characters. The Southland Academy for Supernatural Youth may be aimed at younger readers but I did enjoy this book so much I recommended this book to my seventh grade son.

Chameleon is a gripping tale that will grab your attention from the start. 17-year-old Paloma is sent to an all-girls Catholic boarding school for unclear misbehaviour, and is befriended by a group of girls that are by turns empathetic, helpful, and strange. There is an underlying tension in her relationship with these teens that only adds to the intrigue of this haunting book. The supernatural is everywhere in this tale, from the waterfall that Paloma is oddly terrified of, to seances contacting the dead, to ghost sightings in the corners of peoples’ vision. This book definitely elicited some creepy vibes, and I felt increasingly unsettled as the story wound on. Zoe Kalo is great at allowing spaces for readers to fill in the blanks, which adds to the air of suspense in this book.
What an utterly fun read for a lazy afternoon! This little mystery has great characters, a well-timed plot, and an engaging mystery for readers to solve along with Sunny Baker. As noted, it does have a “grown-up Nancy Drew” feel to it, and made for a captivating story. The heroine, a 42-year-old librarian in a small beach town was relatable and fun, an ardent supporter of reading and comfortable in her own skin. I liked that she had a bit of sass and jumped into rescuing her library despite some fears she had. While this is called a Christian mystery, you certainly don’t need to be Christian in order to enjoy it. Sunny is a woman with faith, but the book doesn’t centre around this – it’s just an aspect of her personality. If you are looking for a fun cozy book to curl up with today, this might be the one!
