Rage (The Marcy Series Book 1) by Linda Burson – Review by Moriah Venable

Rage (The Marcy series Book 1)Rage by Linda Burson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rage is the first novel in the Marcy series by Linda Burson. This my second novel by this author.

While I have read the third novel, it was nice to go to the beginning of the journey.

Marcy is having nightmares and her boyfriend gives her an ultimatum: either seek help or he’s leaving.

What happens when Marcy meets Liam could possibly find love with him?

This story did start up a little slow, so it took me a minute to get into the novel but once I did, I couldn’t put the book down. I had all this questions. Why is March having nightmares? Why would her lover leave her if she doesn’t get help? Shouldn’t he be supportive? Is there more to Marcy that will learn?

So many questions as I continued to read!

I am glad I started from the beginning because I definitely want to catch up and understand where the story had taken these characters.

Demon's Angel: Satan's Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #2Demon’s Angel: Satan’s Devils MC (Colorado Chapter) #2 by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Demon’s Angel is the second novel in the Colorado Chapter series by Amanda Mellet.

Ten years have passed since the loss of Demon’s best friend. He made a promise and he failed.

Now he is giving a chance to make things right. His best friend’s sister is now back in tow with a baby and need help.

As far as Violet is concerned, Demon only thinks of her as a sister and is only helping her because of the promise he made to her brother. But could there more than meets the eye with Demon?

I really enjoyed this novel and characters. I usually don’t read novel with the female protagonist already having a baby, it was refreshing to see them become a family in their way and come together.

While I haven’t read the main series, this makes me want to and it’s definitely on my list of series to read.

For anyone looking for a second chance romance with a lot of Alpha, then this is the book for you.

Don't Let Me (The Simplicit Duet #1)Don’t Let Me by Marie Skye
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Don’t Let Me is the first novel in the Simplicit Duet by Marie Skye. This is my third novel in this author.

The history between Olivia, Jaxon and Damien is filled with passion, lies, deceit and love. Olivia has feelings for both men but when one leaves without a word the other is there to pick up the pieces but is there more going on?

The relationship between the characters was definitely keeping me on the edge of my seat. This is short novel that I went right through. After the way the novel ended, I definitely can’t wait until the next book is released. I need to know what happens next!

Anything this author writes, I know I have to read. I also know it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster filled with twist and turns and I was not disappointed.

I don’t want to spoiler anything. I just highly suggest you read it.

Seraphina’s Revolution (The Seraphina Series Book 4) by Sheena Hutchinson – Review by Moriah Venable

Seraphina's Revolution (Seraphina #4)Seraphina’s Revolution by Sheena Hutchinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seraphina’s Resolution is the fourth and final novel in the Seraphina series by Sheena Hutchinson. This is my third novel by this author.

Taking place after the previous novel, Seraphina is hard time coming to terms with the things she did while evil.

Nate is there to comfort her, but once he disappears, what will happen to Sera? Will she give in her feelings or will she be able to overcome them and save those she loves?

With this being the last book in the series, I was hesitant to read it. I hate when series end but i also wanted to know what happened at the end of their story.

From the beginning to now, Seraphina has come along way and it was amazing to see how she progressed in each book.

I really don’t wanna give anything away but for people who are looking for a paranormal romance with action, twist and turns and character development, I highly recommend this series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Case of Missing Books is the sixth novel in the Summer McCloud series by Nikki Broadwell. This is my third novel by this author.

The title definitely caught my attention as I love reading. And I haven’t read any mysteries involving books. It made me wonder what the books were.

Also, she has a mystery to solve involving missing books. What do this books contain and why would someone steal them?

While this is the sixth novel in this series, this is my first novel in the series I have read. I didn’t feel very confused but I was interested in starting over from the beginning.

After a tragedy, Angelia is still trying to pick up the pieces of her life five years later. To cope, Angelo’s joins an organization.

Mark Lyon is also trying to find a way to keep moving after losing his daughter Ashleigh.

When the two meet, maybe it’s a time for them both to start to heal instead of only existing.

This was a really emotional book to read. I enjoyed it but it was hard to read. I imagine it would be even more so people who have children or have been in that situation.

I have read a few books by this author and this is by far my favorite and most memorable.

The love story between Mark and Angelia is unimaginable but it still works. I love that they are able to help each other move forward even if that wasn’t how the relationship initially was.

I look forward to the author’s next book.

But there is more to this situation than any of them could have thought possible. With danger lurking around every corner, falling in love was not part of the plan.

I really enjoyed the novel especially the main characters. Clay I felt sympathy for but felt he made some decisions that weren’t right but I could understand his anger. His relation with Harlie was filled with so much emotion it made it feel on the edge of my seat.

The author did a really great job showcasing the hurt, misunderstandings and heartbreak the characters go through.

It’s been a while since I read such an thriller filled emotional book, but I look forward to the next book in the series.

Paladin Hell is the first novel in the Colorado Chapter series by Manda Mellet. This is my first novel by this author.

After going through a nightmare, Jayden gets a knight in shining leather by the name Paladin. He looks out for her, protects her and while there are feelings surfacing, there relationship can go no further.

Years past, and their relationship progresses but are there people who will try to tear them apart?

With the being the first book of a spinoff series, I wasn’t familiar with the characters but I didn’t feel confused. I was really engrossed the story and reading about the two relationships that form and the intertwining of the characters history.

I loved Paladin and how he was always there for Jayden. Because of what she went through, I was glad their relation was more slow and took more time to develop.

I will definitely have to go back read the original story but I look forward to reading more of this as well.

After seeing Hadley Holiday in a television show, Theo Legend can’t seem to get her out of his head or his dreams. Known as a bad boy and in need on money, he thinks of an idea to get both.

Hadley Holiday may not have won on The Final Showdown but she wants a career in show business and when she offered a job by Theo, she takes it.

Theo may not believe in love at first sight, but there is definitely something there between the two of them.

I always grab any book by this author and was not disappointed. I was hoping for a new book in The Good Guys series but this was a really cute novel set in reality television. Something I used to read when I was younger and gave me better insight how things happen behind the scene.

For anyone looking for a cute quick read, I recommend this novel. It’s the perfect book to start off the year with.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Confectioner’s Truth is the third novel in the Confectioner Chronicles series. This is my fifth novel by this author.

Two weeks after the events of the second novel, Wren and her group are exploring new lands.

Going through a period of self-doubt, Wren has to come to terms with her previous bad decisions. She feels the weight of her loss and wonders what to do next. She has been a character that I have really enjoyed reading about. Her growth over the course of the three books has been amazing to read with me rooting for her and wondering how this story will end.

Wren has made a lot of decisions but now she has to pull herself together in order to save Alessa.

I can’t describe in words how this novel has made me feel. Feeling a maelstrom of emotions and sad to see this end but it was a satisfied ending.

For anyone looking for something new to read with an amazing premise and relatable characters, I highly recommend this.

Isabella’s Painting: A Notorious Art Heist Mystery (Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 1) by Ellen Butler – Review by Moriah Venable

Isabella's Painting (Karina Cardinal Mystery #1)Isabella’s Painting by Ellen Butler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Isabella’s Painting is the first novel in the Karina Cardinal mystery series by Ellen Butler. This is my first novel by this author.

Instead of relaxing at home watching Netflix, Karina Cardinal is getting dressed to attend her boyfriend Patrick Dunne parent’s holiday party.

While there, she notices Patrick’s dad may be up to something that includes the stolen artwork that was taken from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum years before.

The FBI was unable to solve and locate the paintings but with Karina’s new information it’s possible they may have been found.

I have not read a cozy mystery in over a year and have been wanting to. Reading this novel made me remember how much fun and entertaining they are.

While Karina is not a detective, she is really smart and is able to put clues together. And while working with a friend that is an FBI agent, sparks may fly.

The author did a great job combining an actual event within the story of this novel. I even did some research while reading and discovered more information about the heist which made it all the more to read.

I look forward to the next book in the series as well as the cover. The cover caught my eye before I read the summary.

Burning Night: where the ashes of the past awaken the future by Nikki Broadwell – Review by Moriah Venable

Burning Night: where the ashes of the past awaken the futureBurning Night: where the ashes of the past awaken the future by Nikki Broadwell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Burning Night is novel by Nikki Broadwell. This is my first novel by this author.

Escaping an abusive relationship, Collie leaves with the help of her friend Mary who gets her a truck and money. But when her money is stolen, she is forced to return to exotic dancing. Though she is skeptical of it working because of her age.

Her goal is to attend Burning Night which is located in a small town in Alaska. She also meets younger man named Tim. Will she find happily ever after or will it just be another heartbreak?

I have been in a reading slump lately and was apprehensive about reading anything. The summary caught my attention and I thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did. Collie was strong and vulnerable and it was great to read her growth and how she overcame obstacles. I was so happy when I was reading her leaving her abusive husband and trying to regain her self confidence that had been lowered over the years.

I don’t want to give too much away. With a strong female lead, a little romance and a theme of overcoming obstacles and reaching your goals, this is novel that can be relatable to anyone who reads it.

This story maybe short but it leaves you on the edge and doesn’t let go. I really enjoyed this novel and will read more by this author.

After nursing him back to health, Rain, feels a bond with Hunter but both don’t want to get to close to each other for different reasons. Can Hunter, the soldier born to kill find something he wants more or will Rain’s secret tear them apart.

I didn’t think I was going to like the dystopian setting but I really enjoyed the dark and gritty world it was set in.

I loved the characters and how the story unfolds and the secrets the main characters were hiding.

Dani is a baker who has an issue with talking to guys who age. She starts to mumble and run away. She also delivers cupcakes and pies early in the morning to Wes’ restaurant. She dreams of owning her own bakery.

Patrick is the brother of her best friend from high school and the two meet again years later at the restaurant. Patrick realizes the cupcakes he has been eating for years are made by Dani.

To overcome her fear and anxiety, Patrick offers to help her by just being her friend and helping her get comfortable with just conversation. Over time he find himself falling for her and worries that he isn’t good enough for her.

Dani feels an attraction to Patrick but doesn’t want to mess up the friendship they have and keeps telling herself they are just friends

Another installment of an amazing series that I can’t get enough of.

I really liked Dani and related to her cause I just became that way myself. Not because of any bad experience just started to isolate myself and developed anxiety talking to people over time. So I understood her anxiety when it came to talking to guys. I loved the decision where she made the decision to change herself because she wanted to normal and be able to talk in a social setting.

Patrick I liked and felt he could admit when he was wrong and apologize to make things right.

I really hope we get book with Sabrina. I would love to see who she falls in with and how she interacts with them.

Bound by Blood is the third novel in the Crescent City Wolf Pack series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is my third novel by this author.

Alex Gentry is a rogue werewolf that doesn’t stay in one spot for too long. She is Macey’s sister that disappeared years ago.

Bryce Samuels had an attracted to Alexis the first time he saw it which didn’t go anywhere but things change when he finds her at the hospital because her boyfriend.

Wanting to help her out her situation, he offers for her to stay at his house which he accepts even though she is reluctant. For Alexis just any a woman, and this just isn’t some common issue he is dealing with. The werewolf community is something he is in the dark about and while trying to protect him, Alexis may find out that she may have to spill her secrets.

I really loved this novel. It was refreshing for the female protagonist to be werewolf and get more backstory on Alexis. She was a mysterious characters from the first book and I was so excited to learn more about her such as fears.

Her relationship with Bryce was very fun to read. Especially with both attracted to each other but not acting on it.

Bryce is also someone I loved, he was such a sweetheart with wanting to help people but he could also be alpha when protecting people he cares about.

I really don’t want to give anything away. It was fast paced read with great characters that make you feel for them.

This is series I highly recommend and can’t wait for the next book in the series. I hope this series never ends.
