Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces #2)Arrows Tipped with Honey by Jean Gill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While I could follow the story line as I began reading Arrows Tipped with Honey, I had so many questions about Mielitta’s character and what caused the current status at the beginning of the book. As a result, I quickly grabbed the first book (Queen of the Warrior Bees) in this series and dived into this world. I am glad I did. I found the character and “universe” development from the first book to provide a deeper appreciation and understanding of what was transpiring in Arrows Tipped with Honey. Throughout Arrows Tipped with Honey, the author did a superb job at developing the characters further and making them so complex that you feel you are right there with them in the midst of the action. While many questions you had from the first book are answered in this book, Arrows Tipped with Honey gives you many more questions and leaves you begging for another book to follow. You must grab Queen of the Warrior Bees (Book 1) and Arrows Tipped with Honey (Book 2) today (with a cup of coffee) and plan to not leave your reading spot for a long while.

I must start with the fact this is a continuation of a previously started series, The Natural Forces books from Jean Gill. I think it helps a lot to read the first book as it is the next chapter in Mielitta’s life but it is possible to enjoy the book on its own probably. I love how Jean Gill writes, it is somewhat poetic and the flow is one that transports you to a whole new world with an endless amount of possibilities for magic and adventure. I often feel as If I am on an escapade and far away when I read Gill’s works. This book did the same and flowed perfectly. I loved reading about where Mielitta goes and her adventures in the Forest once she breaks through. Love becomes a factor that Mielitta must work her way through the complicated feelings that come from that. I loved the way things never felt forced or over explained, something that I tend to struggle with when reading the dystopian novels. I cannot wait to see what we will get next from the talented Jean Gill!

This is the second book in the Natural Forces collection. I read book 1 as well, and my opinion is you need to read them in order, they are not standalones. Arrows tipped starts right where we left off from book 1. I love this series and Jean Gill as an author. This book is different in the way she wrote the first as it focuses on more than just Mielitta. Kermon is front and center this time around, and Jean did an amazing job with his character. Part of the synopsis says “Trapped in a society he loathes and fears, Mage Smith Kermon’s mission becomes a test of survival. Can he remain loyal to Mielitta in the double life he leads as her spy in the Citadel? He is quickly embroiled in deceit and subterfuge, forcing him into actions that make him doubt himself and everything he values.” Worded perfectly and a wonderful read.

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces #2)Arrows Tipped with Honey by Jean Gill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Arrows Tipped with Honey is the exciting second book in Jean Gill’s Natural Forces series. It is a fantasy series, with a heroine who has a magical connection with bees and is seeking to overcome a corrupt city that shuns all connections with the natural world.
Following the climactic battle of the previous book, the Citadel believe they are victorious. Sure, the Queen of the Warrior Bees has made some demands of them when they forged their peace treaty, but they have their children back and are able to return to life as normal. But the Queen, Mielitta, is playing a long game. With a spy inside the city, and a generation of children who have seen the forest and tasted the honey, Mielitta hopes she can change things for the better.
Already in the first book, this was a really well developed fantasy world. The rules of the Citadel are clear, and the secrets it hides intriguing. There is a contrast between the strictly ordered Citadel and the wild forest which can seem cliché, but contributes to the power of the story. There is a depth to the characters, particularly coming into the second book as they adapt to their new roles and relationships.
For me, this is a five star book. It’s a great fantasy series for young adults who are concerned about the environment. Readers should start with the first book, Queen of the Warrior Bees, as the story in the second book follows on from the events of the previous book.

This book took me on an intriguing adventure. This is the second book in this series and it is my suggestion that these books be read in order for better understanding and enjoyment. I was pulled into this story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. There is suspense, danger, and wonderful characters in this wonderfully told story. The author did an exceptional job making me feel like I’m going along for the adventure because it was written with vivid detail and the emotions were jumping off the pages. I was left with the questions that I’m hoping will be answered in the next book. I cannot wait to read the next one. I recommend reading this book.

Arrows Tipped With Honey is the second book in the Natural Forces series. I was captured by the title and blurb and didn’t realize that this was part of a series at first. You will definitely want to read the first book before you read this one!

This story has a solid blend of fantasy, action, intrigue, danger, and romance. It also has a bit of a dystopian feel to it with the nature vs. civilization components. I enjoyed the unique characters and the amazing world that the author built for them.

Arrows Tipped With Honey was not a “quick” read for me. It has a lot of layers so you will want to take your time with it. You definitely don’t want to pass up a chance to read this series!

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces Book 2) by Jean Gill is an original YA fantasy story that is well written and wonderfully vivid. There are many layers to this adventure and the characters are well developed. Jean’s world building is exciting and helps pull you along as we are faced with lots of action and danger, magic and politics, intrigue and drama. Sometimes the suspense would have me holding my breath as I waited to find out how the characters would get through a situation. This book should not be read without reading the first book as there are so much needed details to help make the story.

5-Stars

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces Book 2) by Jean Gill was an excellent read. I seriously could not put this book down and I believe I enjoyed it more than the first book in this series. It is filled with creative characters with amazing powers. Everything takes place in a world where the beauty and wonder of nature is seen as evil. It was intriguing and I loved the underlying message pointing toward how much of a key role our environment plays in our lives. I was so excited to start this novel and I was extremely pleased with how it turned out. I highly recommend this book and feel it is easily a 5-star read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the series and it picks up after the last book. We get to see the aftermath of the war in the Citidel as well as how the Queen if the Bees and her partners handle it. It’s nice to get back and see what’s going on. How is Mielitta, Jannlou and Drianna handling their lives now? What about Kermon? Spying to make sure the promises from the war are handled correctly. My frustration is that this is a middle story. Not much happens other than a power struggle in the Citidel. The three friends get some enlightenment in the Forest too. It seemed to be some filler. Granted some of the information I’m sure will be used later.

The characters are interesting and have many levels. I still enjoy the whole bee part. It nice seeing this crew coming into their own.

Overall it’s a nice book. There is adventure and politic in the amazing world this author created. It is very inventive and different from other books.

In this unlikely action-packed book, we find a team of over 50,000 bees with four friends who must save the world.
Assisted by her three brilliant friends, Mieletta, monarch leader of the bees, must shatter the blockade as they advance from the Forest to the Citadel to build a more superior society. However, in the Citadel, she’s still seen as an atypical and defector. The assembly constructs a person skilled in using supernatural forces, fragmenting the blood pledge tying them to the blood pledge with Mieletta as they search to dismantle her. While she conjectures her authority in the Forest, her aspirations befall on one man, inside the Citadel.
Confined in a community where he detests and is frightened by Mage Smith Kernon’s operation becomes a test to withstand. Can he remain tried and true to Mieletta while being a two-faced counterspy in the Citadel? He’s quickly entangled in fraud and trickery while pressuring him into taking drastic measures and hesitation to risk it all. Mother Nature is full of surprises as she prevails in this book.
This is a beautiful read from cover to cover. Very enjoyable read! This is a beautiful read full of great surprises and action. Very inspirational story. You’ll love this one!

4 Stars!!!!

The Queen of the Bees is back and there is more to the adventure. I like how the author has built quite the complex world with the Citadel and the Forest. I was drawn back into the world with the battle that is still going on even though they think the war is over. I couldn’t put the book down.

I really felt that the drama in this book keeps one glued to it. With Kermon staying in the Citadel to try and keep his mission and inevitably having to battle demons. This book just really brings the world the author has created even more vividly to life and I for one thought the balance of drama was just right. I really enjoyed getting more informed about the forest and seeing also more of the citadel. I like how the author begins to weave in the threads of the forest again to the Citadel unbeknownst to all. I can see how this series is evolving and I am very much eager to see how it will all unfold. I definitely cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

Arrows Tipped With Honey is the second book in the Natural Forces series by Jean Gill. As this is my first read from Ms. Gill, I really didn’t know what to expect from her writing. But the premise intrigued me, as did the cover. So, I took a chance and grabbed myself a copy. I didn’t initially register that this is book two to a continuing series, but a short way into the story I realised- and so I closed and set aside this book while I went back to read book one, first. So, if you haven’t read book one yet, I highly recommend reading that story before embarking on this book. This story continues from book one, so there is a lot of important information, backstory, and character details in the first book- which will enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this story.
This is a very original and imaginative YA fantasy adventure story- with action, drama, political intrigue, magic, danger, and a little romance. There’s a bit of a dystopian feel to this fantasy- and it’s all brought to life by Ms. Gill’s superb world-building abilities.
It is a wonderfully detailed and descriptive story- so much thought, skill, heart, and soul was put into the creation of this book. Reading was more like ‘watching’ everything unfold, as the imagery was so well crafted. From the characters, to the scenery, and all the other captivating details, I could see and ‘feel’ it all.
There were emotive elements, as well as times when I was held in suspense wondering how things would play out. I read the two books back to back and enjoyed every minute. The ending has me clamouring to get my hands on Book Three ASAP!
Fantastic!

Thank you, Jean Gill!

Wow! Just wow! I don’t mind telling you, I read this book from cover to cover in one sitting. Because….Yes it is that good. This is a story about perfection. Who says what perfection is? Is it the same for all? Should it be? And if it’s not what happens to the “others”? Such great characters and such a wonderful world the author has led us to. Although Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces Book 2) by Jean Gill is the second of this series, it was my first read through this world. I will be rectifying that issue before dawn tomorrow. In many ways this book reflects some of the social change that is going on in our world today, but it is so skillfully written you almost don’t notice. I remember when I first read book 1 in the series I wasn’t sure I was going to like it – a book about bees – but I was pleasantly surprised so when I saw book 2 I wanted to see where the author was taking the story and again I enjoyed it. It’s still not the type of book I would normally read but I really like the author’s detailed writing, it is very vivid and descriptive. I actually think I enjoyed this story a little more than the first, the characters were great to read about and follow their adventure and the story had quite a few layers to it which I enjoyed. It tied in well to book 1 and definitely answered some of the questions that I had in my head after I had finished it!
A great read that I highly recommend! Book 1 needs to be read first.

The story Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces Book 2) by Jean Gill is a wonderful tale to read. It pulls you in from the start and doesn’t let you go until the final page. It is a story in which the author does an amazing job of building a world that is both interesting and intriguing. Mage Smith Kemon is leading a double life both in remaining loyal to Mielitta and as a spy at the Citadel. He has a lot of doubts and inner conflicts. He is always facing danger and the possibility of discovery. Mielitta has her gifted friends and beloved bees. There also other characters that are part of the council at the Citadel who are devious and are looking out for themselves and their way of life. This is a story that includes magic and discovery. Don’t miss out on an amazing story that is entertaining and kept me turning pages to find out what happens next. It is a story that I would recommend reading.

Right off the bat there were so many things that intrigued me about this book. I absolutely adore bees so just reading the words warrior bees made me think “I need this book right now”. And I was not disappointed. Mielitta was found as baby and she believes that for this reason, she is kept as a servant and a child while all her peers are now considered adults. Most of her school friends also seem to have forgotten her somewhat. Is this some sort of magic or are they just all just huge jerks?
The Forest is forbidden and most people don’t question why. Mielitta can’t help but be curious when everyone else is content and I love her for that. How she experiences the world around her is extremely intriguing. Food and drink only taste of salt but her sense of smell has like 4 layers to it. She can assign colors to different scents as well as descriptive words she has only read but knows instinctively are accurate. Everything about this girl fascinating and had me tearing through this book for answers, especially after reading about the Councillors. They immediately seemed sketchy and their abilities made me distrust basically every word they said. They all seemed out for themselves no matter how much they said they were loyal to the Citadel.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

Once I started reading I could not put it down. Mielitta is a strong female character who finds herself in a bee swarm. The bees make her their own. Mielitta and the bees become one and that is when the story took off. The journey that Mielitta takes is one that she needs to make. What will Mielitta’s journey do for her? Will she stand up to those who would like to bully her around? I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I took a step out of my comfort zone when I decided to give this book a read and overall I enjoyed it. It did take me a little time to get into and there were times when I wasn’t completely sure it was the book for me but I persevered and I’m glad I did. I think there is definitely more to the book than the blurb leads you to believe, the author’s detailed writing was good (however a little too much at times) and the story did have a good pace and flow to it. One of the things I did like about the book was how original and unpredictable it was and I certainly had to think about what I was reading to find the deeper meaning. The main character wasn’t quite what I was expecting and it took me a while to understand her however as the story went on I began to see the direction the author was trying to take her in.
Overall an interesting read and would definitely recommend it to readers who are looking for something a little different to try out.
