Forbidden Love; Written by Lisa Jones Gentry, As Told by Joe Steele – Review by Jonell Collins

Forbidden Love: As Told By Joe SteeleForbidden Love: As Told By Joe Steele by Lisa Jones Gentry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh, what a wonderful little love story this was. I love to see courage from real people in real life. It’s a wonderful thing to see that there were some people that knew all along that there was only one race and it’s the human race. In Forbidden Love by Lisa Jones Gentry as told by their son Joe Steele, the love and devotion of Sophie and Billy was truly inspiring. There are a few physical situations that might make some people uncomfortable, but it’s tastefully done. This real-life story is better than any fictional romance I have ever read. I think you’re going to like this one.

Lost in Carmel by Terri Lee – Review by Jonell Collins

Lost in CarmelLost in Carmel by Terri Lee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Very good read. Bittersweet story. I left it feeling all was right in the world. In the beginning you see how fragile Natalie is. As you progress through the story, we see how she got there. In Lost In Carmel, Terri Lee gives us some foundational principles that a listening heart could use in their own life. Natalie faces many issues that most of us face, and hard decisions. Even though it’s just a story, it’s a story that imparts hope. Easy to read and fast paced. A bittersweet romance you will like.

Romance author Brooke May spends her days writing whatever her overactive imagination has brewed up and her evenings reading while she works alongside her mom. Telling stories is second natural to her, from a young age she has told anyone who would listen what she had thought up. Now, a mom of two, she splits her time writing, playing with her kids, and of course, hiking, hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling in her beloved Bighorn Mountains.

While on maternity leave with her youngest, Brooke was putting laundry away when she looked at a poem she had written in high school that was framed in her son’s bedroom. That poem triggered the idea of My Cowboy and soon she was sitting in front of her computer with her infant next to her writing her first love story that wasn’t a fanfiction.

The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Jonell Collins

The Rise of House Valdis (House Valdis #1)The Rise of House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Rise of the House Valdis by Naomi Valkyrie is a fast-paced little story about relationships. All kinds of relationships. Xenobia is just trying to keep her girls safe in her own household, but her household keeps growing and becoming more than she ever imagined. The story is told from several different viewpoints and sometimes it seems repetitious but you’re just getting a different viewpoint. And that’s kind of different. But it all works together in the end.

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1)Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Star
Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1) by Lisa Lanay is a book I absolutely loved. I literally locked myself in a room to not be disturbed while reading. I got lost in the pages, the story for me flowed and the characters are simply amazing they are relatable and very well developed. This is my first read by this Author but definitely not my last. Jake and Kimberly both of them at times frustrated me to the point where I wanted slap them but at other times they both pulled at my heartstrings. Kimberly is Greg’s sister and he is Jake’s friend which means she was off limits, but she has been in love with him since forever and everyone knew it . Jake is back in town to take care of his grandfather . He’s ata friends party and is in need of a place to stay. So he ends up at Kimberly’s ( Kim) house. There is no denying the attraction between these two, but his past is keeping him from moving forward. These two hook up and definitely raises the temperature in the room. Can he leave the past where it belongs and move forward? Can these two have a future together? Can they help each other? Find out what happens next in this absolute must read Book that I can’t recommend enough. I can’t wait to read Zane’s story next.

Love in the Lowcountry (A Winter Holiday Collection Book 1) Featuring Poinsettias for Carly by Michele Sims – Review by Michelle Austin

Love in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday CollectionLove in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday Collection by Savannah J. Frierson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday Collection was a great 5 star read.
We get a great mix of14 winter themed stories from several great authors, paranormal, 2nd chance romance and so much more.

Hoodwinked for the Holidays
This was an interesting read. Sarah runs ghost tours and she has a couple of ghosts working for her, but is it really a good idea? One evening her ghost’s cause some issues for her and she is worried that Saxon, her competition will find out. The other problem for Sarah is sparks fly whenever they see each other. When he shows up to take Sarah’s ghost tour things get interesting.

Mistletoe and Mayhem –
We start with Penelope (Penny) trying to get a job at the magic shop. She meets Jamison while talking to Minerva about the job. I had lol moments at Penny’s thoughts. When Jamison sees her, he seems interested in her ring. There is something about him that sends shivers up Penny’s spine, is it good or bad?

Poinsettias for Carly was one of my favorites.
I was pulled in from the beginning with this short story. This is Carly and Mason’s story that involves past and present. Carly returns home to help pack up her mom’s home, while packing she relives some of her memories. Mason left town after an accident that involved Carly’s brother. Now that they are both back can they rekindle their lost love? My emotions were all over the place. Do they get a HEA?

There are several other great stories in this collection. I enjoy reading these collections because it gives me an opportunity to read authors I have never read before. There is something for everyone in this collection. Each story was just the right length. My emotions were all over the place. If you’re looking for some great reading for an even better price, 1-click and get started today on this collection. I look forward to reading more from several of these authors.

It makes you feel like you are one of the characters in the book. I was hooked on this story right from the beginning. You can’t help but to fall in love with these characters. It only took me a few hours to devour this incredible book.

This was a great book, I finished in a couple of hours. Jake Kimberly know each other because Jake is her brothers friend. Everyone knew Kimberly liked Jake but she never came out and said it to him and he left and got married.
Now they’re both successful in their career choices and when Jake has no place to stay for a few months, he winds up at Kimberly’s.
Both are fighting feelings but for different reasons, life and emotions get the best of them.
Read this book to find out what happens, you won’t regret it.

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series)Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay is the first book in the Almost Perfect series. This is the type of book that will have you shouting at the characters from your living room!
Lisa Lanay is a new author to me and not one I had heard of before this book. However the moment I read the blurb I knew I had to read it. And I am so pleased that I did. The characters were absolutely brilliant. They were the right balance of cautious and completely frustrating that makes for an exciting read. And once they finally started heading in the right track the scenes between them were just perfect.
The actually writing style was great as well. The author really knew how to describe everything to just the right level of detail. I never found myself wishing she would hurry up with a scene or left feeling like I wanted more. I am so, so pleased that I gave this author a go and I cannot wait to check out more of her work!

Vampire State
By Alexander Charalambides

This is a full length novel.

Here you will find Pales, aka,Vampires, and tough decisions. Just what is needed to take you to the fantasy, this book brings. Rowena is going in eyes open. What she sees and learns will help her with what she needs to do. Romance will also play a part in her life. You will need to read this story to find out how it ends. Does Rowena choose Vampire? Who does she fall head over heels in love with, Vincenzo or Luka?

Alexander Charalambides is a new to me author. While I read this story, I had to remind myself, this is just a fantasy. This story is a fast page turning novel. The action sucks you in, you have no choice but to continue to read. His explanation and description of the characters and where they live was well thought out. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters. I have to admit, I kind of fell in love with this book. I can think of many who would love to read this as well. Keep them Coming Alexander Charalambides! Looking for many more adventures ahead.

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1) by Lisa Lanay – Review by Karyn Taylor

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1)Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loving Jake is the first book in the Almost Perfect series by Lisa Lanay. It was the first time I had read any of this author’s work so was unsure what to expect. The blurb drew me in as it seemed like just the sort of book I would enjoy and I’m so glad I chose to read it as I loved it and now have a new author to add to my list.
Kimberley has loved Jake since high school where he was her brother’s friend. Now back in town for a while he needs somewhere to stay and Kimberley just happens to have a spare room.
Needless to say there’s a lot of angst as the 2 of them skirt around each other and Jake tries to fight his growing attraction to his friend’s little sister. There’s a lot of humour too as Kimberley tries everything to make Jake notice her as a grown woman and not the little girl who followed him everywhere.
This is a really great story with great characters, not only the 2 main characters. I loved Kimberley’s meddling sister who did everything to push the 2 of them together. Another character, Zane is going to be the focus of the 2nd book in this series and I can’t wait to read it.

If ever there was a book I could ask to be written it would be this one because not only is it co-written by one of my favourite authors but it is also a holiday time story – my all-time favourite time of year! I was so excited to get my hands on this story and I wasn’t disappointed at all! I loved every second of it! Ok so maybe the story was a little predictable but I didn’t care at all!!! I loved the setting for the story and I loved the characters. In my opinion this is the perfect Christmas read that gives you all the feels! The writing as I expected was brilliant and it was hard to tell that it was written by two authors, their writing styles blended together seamlessly.
I 100% recommend the Holiday Terminal was a wonderful romantic and heart-warming read for this holiday season!

Holiday Terminal by Gwyn McNamee & Christy Anderson – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

Holiday TerminalHoliday Terminal by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holiday Terminal is a Christmas-themed romance that sees two ex-lovers get a second chance of happiness. As a huge fan of the authors already, I was super excited to get started on this. I was also hoping it would get me into the Christmas spirit and I can safely say that it has!

Penelope Barnes and Artemis Warren could not be more different. A small-town girl and a city boy, they were thrust together during a hot summer neither of them would ever forget. We got to learn about their past through short flashbacks and, while there wasn’t many of them, it was the perfect amount for us to understand just how deeply they had cared about each other. Learning about the Warren family was fun, but it was the love and support Penelope’s parents have showed her that I enjoyed so much. The Warren family are not the kind you want to be part of, so I was screaming at Artemis to finally get the guts to step away from a life he hates leading.

Seeing Penelope and Artemis together after so many years apart was fun. There was so much back-and-forth that it keeps you guessing until the very end. There is a huge plot element that I can’t discuss (because it is a big spoiler!) but I absolutely loved how endearing it was. It is the perfect Christmassy read as family is such a strong theme. Another thing I loved was the wintery setting, especially all the snow! Being stuck in a desolate airport terminal on Christmas Day sounds awful, but this book made me want it to happen to me!

I absolutely loved this and will definitely be recommending it. It is the perfect short read to get you in the Christmas spirit and its left me hungry for more festive reads!

This is well done, but can be a little predictable at times, but overall, I liked the writing. This one will have you wondering all the way, Jake and Kimberly really will make you wonder, they will play with your emotions and make you guess. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love and Omens by Carrie Pulkinen a spellbinding five-star read, this is number two in the Cresent City Ghost Tour series and this continues to show us what a great series it is. It could be read as stand-alone, but it is best read as part of the series in my eyes as you build on the world and get to see the follow on for Emily and Sean, but they aren’t the main attraction in this one, that goes to Blake and Syd they steal the show in this instalment. This series really does drag you in, giving you the mystery and romance that makes a great story. The fact that Blake and Syd have a past just added an extra layer to the story, the chemistry alone is worthy of a massive reaction. Throw in haunting emotions and Madi Gras and you have a winner.

Testament of Fears: Book of Judgement Book One by K.H. Jones is my first book by this author. If you like action and fantasy, I highly recommend this book. Jones plot lines are clear and focused. His characters are complex and engaging. There is enough action in the story that I was engrossed to the point of talking to my family about what was happening so I could relive what was happening in the story. This book is about Night Scream. He collects blood debts as Jaw for the Dogs Clan. While doing his duty he finds himself in a pickle. What will Night Scream’s future hold? Will he help find another ranger? You will need to read the book to find out the answers to these questions and more.

Vampire State by Alexander Charalambides is my first book by this author. Charalambides plot line is engaging. His characters are complex and relatable. Yes, this book is about vampires, but I found this book more than another vampire book. Rowena finds herself in a predicament. She can be treated like royalty since her father returns as hero, but she would have to accept the “The Gift” and become “Pale” So what is a girl supposed to do? There is another temptation for her to become apart of the Darkness of the World’s Oldest Empire. Which life with Rowena follow? You will have to read the story to find out.

Earl of Darby is the fourth book in the Once Upon a Widow Book series by Aubrey Wynne. Aubrey Wynne does an amazing job writing historical romance stories. I find her attention to detail amazing. While reading this book, I feel like I have been transported to the time period in which the story is based. Her characters are complex and relatable. In this story, Miss Hannah Pendleton finds herself with a broken heart. That is when the Earl of Darby notices her, but there is a problem, Hannah is being courted by (in the words of the author) the Devil himself. What will Hannah chose the Devil or the Earl of Darby? You will have to read the story to get the answers of this and many more decisions made by Hannah , the Devil, and the Earl of Darby.

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1)Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was excited to read this one but once I started I wasn’t too excited anymore. It seemed boring, slow and too much in her head thinking. I thought “well too much isn’t going to happen in this book”.

But ladies….just hang in and keep going! This turns into an un-freaking-believable story. I ended up staying up until I had turned the last page.

I really started to like Jake and feel his plight as the story progressed. He seems like an honest to goodness guy who got burned. When he visited his Grandpa for a “talk”. That was so sweet and lovely. I liked being in his head for a while to know what he was thinking vs his actions and what he was saying to Kimberly.

The epilogue was great! Perfectly rounding the story out.

This is a first time author for me. This story turns out great. I worry that the beginning (maybe 20%) could cause people to give up on the story. The characters..I liked Jake. Kimberly was different but she grew on me. As secondary characters Grandpa Zach was a fav. Carly turned out to be a good friend/sister.

Vampire State by Alexander Charalambides – Review by Angela Hayes

Vampire StateVampire State by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vampire State by Alexander Charalambides is an original take on vampire lore. The book covers quite a lot- from politics, drama, intrigue, danger, romance, a bit of a love triangle, and more. It felt a little dystopian and dark at times. But that added to the whole atmosphere.
What if you could have everything you ever dreamed of- such as status, wealth, and influence? And all you had to do was die first? Rowena faces this dilemma- with a huge choice to make. What will she decide?
This was an interesting story- complex and dynamic. It felt a little heavy and slow going at times- but I was intrigued enough to want to know how everything played out, and it was worth it in the end.

Thank you, Alexander Charalambides.

The Hazed Series Box SetThe Hazed Series Box Set by Brittany Tarkington
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Star
The Hazed Series Boxed Set by Brittany Tarkington is a college romance of opposites attract. I found myself lost in the pages and couldn’t stop reading ,at times was hard to read due it being dark and just intense. You’ll be taken on a emotional rollercoaster ride ,my emotions were all over the place. Taylor and Hayze. These characters face issues that have them wondering where their lives and relationships will take them. This boxset and these stories are about obsession, addiction . She’s just starting college and getting away from a over protective and overbearing family member. He can get any woman he wants ,but he also has secrets . Hayze finds himself attracted to Taylor, can these have a relationship/ future together? Find out what happens next in this absolute must read boxset. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1) by Lisa Lanay – Review by Jenni Bishop

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1)Loving Jake by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loving Jake (Almost Perfect Series Book 1) by Lisa Lanay is a contemporary romance that will tug on those heart strings invoking every emotion available from hate and love, pain and happiness, envy and passion and then some. Lisa has written the wonderful characters in such a way that you cannot help falling in love with them. They are well written and well-rounded so as to be life like and Lisa has created a world that you want to be a part of, take the journey with them and try to hold them together. You want to take away the pain, the drama, the angst and fill them up with everything good. It doesn’t matter how many contemporary romances there are written if the writer does a good job and Miss Lisa did a great job.

Add this to your TBR but add it to the top.

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Jenni Bishop

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #2)Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance story that is a quick but enjoyable read. I would read the first book in this series before this one as it will give you background information on some of the characters. I really enjoyed the first one but this one was even better. Being able to see the future is not all it is cracked up to be and trying to decipher what the visions mean can almost make you go mad. Throw that in with an ex who is back on the scene, one you never stopped loving, a crazy stalker and a wronged husband and you are in for a wild journey as Carrie weaves it all together to make a very vivid tale. I also enjoy that we get to learn more of the wonderful characters that make up the team.

A must read to be added to your TBR list.

Testament of Feats: Book of Judgement Book One by K.H. Jones – Review by Jenni Bishop

Testament of Feats: Book of Judgment,Testament of Feats: Book of Judgment, by K.H. Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Testament of Feats: Book of Judgment Book One by K.H. Jones is a fantasy that is a little dark and action packed. What happens when dark forces don’t care who and what they go after or what gets in the way? What happens when you want to right the wrongs but get caught up in something you are not even sure what that is? There are a lot of different characters to be discovered as our MC, Scream travels far and wide trying to stop evil and find a fellow ranger. It is a story that is a journey which is mysterious and engaging, full of action and mayhem.

K.H. is a new author to me and he is a great storyteller and his worlds are easily imagined. I recommend reading this deep dark tale if you love a good fantasy.
