Burning Greed (DI Tanya Miller Investigates Book 2)
By Diane M Dickson
5 out of 5 stars

The story Burning Greed (DI Tanya Miller Investigates Book 2) by Diane M Dickson is a thrilling crime fiction book. The story has an atmosphere of suspense and I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed reading about the character of DI Tanya Miller. She is strong, independent, and intelligent. Tanya finds herself pulled between two cases. One in which a woman’s body was found in the debris of a fire and the disappearance of her niece. Will Tanya find her niece? Will she find out why the woman was in the fire? Read this book to find out. I loved that this story had great details regarding the case, and I felt like I was right there with Tanya and the others while they are investigating. Tanya is someone who is sharp, resourceful, and willing to take chances to solve cases. She will not give up until she solves whatever case she is on and I could feel her frustration when little progress is made. There are other characters that you are introduced to. Many of them work with Tanya. Some of the others are part of a rouge’s gallery of suspects and witnesses that must be interviewed. I enjoyed trying to solve this mystery. Don’t miss out on a story that will hook you in from the beginning and not let you go until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

By: Carrie Pulkinen
5 out of 5 stars

The story A Song to Remember: A Crescent City Wolf Pack Novella (Mystifying Music Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen is a wonderful paranormal/werewolf book. It hooked me from the very beginning, and I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. I loved reading about the characters of Shane and Bekah. There is a deep connection between them. Shane wonders if Bekah could be his fated mate. His wolf is sure. Shane also finds himself in danger and without his memory. His bandmates believe him to be a liability to their plans. Love is a powerful emotion and even with no memory, Shane finds himself at Bekah’s café. Can Bekah help Shane regain his memory? How much danger are Shane and Bekah in? What does the future hold for Bekah and Shane? Read this book to find out. This story has romantic moments that will make the temperature in the room rise. I love books that are about werewolves and this one is a wonderful example of why. There are other characters that interact with Bekah and Shane. Many are helpful to the couple and don’t think twice about coming to their aid. Don’t miss out on a story when a handsome band member and the owner of a café find out if they are fated mates. I highly recommend reading it.

Holiday Terminal by Gwyn McNamee & Christy Anderson – Review by Robin Rankin

Holiday TerminalHoliday Terminal by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holiday Terminal: (A Second Chance Secret Baby Billionaire Holiday Romance) by Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson was the first Christmas book of the year for me and almost got my grinchy heart into the spirit.

I have read most of Ms. McNamee’s books and wasn’t sure what to expect with a collaboration, especially with an author I have only recently discovered but I throughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by these two ladies in the future.

Max stole my heart from the very beginning of the book and didn’t let go, there was just something about that little boy that grabbed me.

Though there were some issues between Penelope and Artemis, there wasn’t the heavy drama like there could have been which made me enjoy it that much more.

The Hazed Series Boxed Set by Brittany Tarkington – Review by Erica Fish

The Hazed Series Box SetThe Hazed Series Box Set by Brittany Tarkington
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Hazed Series Books 1-3 by Brittany Tarkington is the first books I have read by this author. I was not sure what to expect but I can tell you that I was blown away. Tarkington plot line follows a tight grip on the reader. The characters are complex and interesting. The subject of the three books is one of obsession and addiction. The series is based on a relationship between Taylor and Hayze. Taylor just received an acceptance letter to the college that is just far away enough to let her feel herself. Taylor has never been so free before, due to her strict father and small town. She applied for a job as a waitress in a local bar and that is where she meets Hayze. This is where the stories get interesting. In book one it was the initial introduction of Taylor and Hazye. Through books 2-3 it is about the relationship of Taylor and Hazye. The relationship has many different characteristics some healthy and some not so healthy. How will Taylor handle being away and on her own? What will become of Taylor and Hazye’s relationship? Will the skeletons come out of the closet or will they remain hidden from one another? Will Taylor and Hazye become a couple? You will have to read these books to find that information out.

Love in the Lowcountry (A Winter Holiday Collection Book 1) Featuring Poinsettias for Carly by Michele Sims – Review by Erin Wolf

Love in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday CollectionLove in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday Collection by Savannah J. Frierson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Love in the Lowcountry (A Winter Holiday Collection Book 1), 4 stars.

This is a great collection of Christmas romance stories. What makes it stand out is that there are multiple subgenres of romance, such as contemporary romance and paranormal romance. This makes it even more interesting in my opinion, you never what what you’re going to get next.

While there are many good stories in here, I want to focus on Poinsettias for Carly by Michele Sims. It takes two main characters who were really close when they were young, but tragedy separated them. Now she can’t stand him, especially after this latest move. But he seems to want to forgive and forget. Is she willing?

Not a very long story, the author is able to tell us so much about these characters’ pasts while explaining what is happening in the current day too. This felt like a complete story to me and while I would love to read more about these people, I did not like I was left hanging. The author is a great storyteller and it really comes across in the story.

If you like variety in your romance short stories, this is the perfect anthology for your holiday season.

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel Book 2) by Maddie Wade & India Kells – Review by Shani Kenny

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel #2)Hidden Obsession by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mason is a man full of good, solid strength. His drive to do good in the world is what brought him to Alliance Agency and the work he has been dedicated to. But when he arrived, he never expected the feisty, spunky and equally dedicated Cleo.

Cleo has a driving force to better the world, even if it’s just from her desk at what has become her home in the agency. Her big heart and dedication to the team comes from a part of her past she is trying hard to leave behind. She’s fighting the attraction that she has to the devastatingly charming and handsome Mason.

When they become closer, their worlds intertwine. in that means, her past is coming forward quickly. Though she’s scared, she comes to terms a bit with knowing if she has Mason she can deal with it. What she doesn’t expect is the twisted turns ahead. As they’re faced with serious obstacles, they fight to hold on. I was completely enthralled, captivated and slightly sucked into the action as I fought to figure out the who’s, why’s and how’s! I surely didn’t expect for the bit of a twist that had me yelling, “what the heck?” at my kindle as I refocused and read on. I loved this book and look forward to more from these two! It’s such a fabulous read that will keep you guessing!

I enjoyed this paranormal romance book. This is an author that has continued to impress me with each book I read of hers. I have enjoyed this series and is one of my favorites. I was pulled into the story right from the beginning. The characters are great and I loved their chemistry together. Shane and Bekah meet and have a connection. When he shows up at her cafe with no memory of her or himself, will she be able to help him remember? Suspense, danger, romance, I highly recommend this book.

Love in the Lowcountry (A Winter Holiday Collection Book 1) Featuring Poinsettias for Carly by Michele Sims – Review by Shannon Fowler

Love in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday CollectionLove in the Lowcountry: A Winter Holiday Collection by Savannah J. Frierson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This Winter Holiday Collection has a little bit of everything!

Poinsettias for Carly by Michele Sims is a pretty ok and sweet story. It’s a quick short story about 2 kids growing up together until a tragic accident and a few misunderstandings cause hurt feelings and repressed love. All this information is gathered in flash backs. Those same kids are grown-ups now and are meeting again for the first time in many years. As they reminisce, they rediscover their love for each other.

The story flowed well but I didn’t seem able to connect to the characters. I could definitely see how their situation could have been different with some good old fashioned open communication. I like Sims writing style to keep reading her stories. While there seems to be something missing, Sims is a writer to be watched!

Looking forward to reading the rest of this anthology and other Sims stories!

This is book two in the Agents of Dart series. I didn’t read book one but there was enough information in this one that I wasn’t lost at all. If you want to know how Lily and Dillon met, you should read book one. This is Dillon’s first mission as a Dart agent and Lily is training him. It was supposed to be an easy mission but everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Lily always follows the rules, they are there for a reason. Dillon shows her that sometimes rules need to be bent to accomplish a mission. The book is filled with danger and action. Lily and Dillon need to learn to work together if they are going to survive and catch a killer.

Summer Break: A Joe Football Novella by Autumn Sand – Review by Jenni Bishop

Summer Break: A Joe Football NovellaSummer Break: A Joe Football Novella by Autumn Sand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summer Break: A Joe Football Novella by Autumn Sand is a college romance story and a nice extension of the first book in the series of Joe Football. It is a quick and easy read that tells the tale of the friendships of those in the first book. I would suggest that you read Joe Football first so you get to know the characters and who they are. Autumn has done a great job on this one, even though it is full of the normal YA stressors and the underlying theme of being able to communicate with those you love. I love the characters, some are very mature whilst others are stilling trying to deal with life as it is thrown at them.

Secrets threaten to tear the friends apart and sometimes love it just not enough.

If you loved Joe Football you will love this Autumn does not let you down.

Misplaced (Joined Book Two) by Mara Gan – Review by Jenni Bishop

Misplaced: Joined: Book TwoMisplaced: Joined: Book Two by Mara Gan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Misplaced: Joined: Book Two by Mara Gan is a fantasy romance and a great read. It is well written and is unique in its telling and the rich and vivid world that Mara has created. The plot is well done and there are twists that you don’t see coming. It is full of mystery and intrigue, lots of action and drama, adventure and suspense and evil but hope around every corner. I loved the first book in the series and was not disappointed with this one either. I found myself losing sleep because I was unable to put it down, I just had to know what was around the next corner. The characters are written beautifully and are well crafted and oh so endearing, so much so that I found myself laughing out loud on many occasions at the banter and their actions.

Meda awakes not know how she got where she is, where she is and even if that is her name. She finds herself alone and having to carve out a life for herself in her strange surroundings. Managing to keep herself alive, barely, she sets out to help those in need without a second thought to her own safety. She is a true pleasure to read about and her antics. Will she ever remember the life she had before?

Kyros is more than he seems, he has many names. He lives a privileged life but one that is not truly his own. He is a Mercenary and a finder of treasures but finding those treasures are not as easy as it seems. He is grumpy all the time until he finds himself drawn to a selfless, caring and wonderfully strange beautiful woman tied to a pole but that is the least of her problems it seems she finds herself in all sorts of trouble and he finds himself at her rescue more often than not.

Overall, this is a great read and I am anxiously awaiting to see what happens to Meda and Persius.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel Book 2) by Maddie Wade & India Kells, these girls, they just amaze me with their story telling. I loved this book. Although to be fair I think I say that about all their books, but I do mean it each and every time. The action starts from the very first pages and keeps up all the way to the end and let me tell you, you do not see what is coming. This book is full of men and women who are determined and will stop at nothing to keep those they love safe.

Cleo has a stalker, but is it someone from her past or is it someone else? She has tried so hard to keep her past hidden but now it seems its ugly head is being reared again to threaten her very existence and her sanity.

Mason has always had a thing for the violet haired beauty, and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Now he just has to convince her that she needs him. What he doesn’t expect is the realisation of just who is after his girl and just how far they will go to get what they want.

I wait with bated breath for the next book in this series!

The Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

The Unholy: A Supernatural TaleThe Unholy: A Supernatural Tale by Paul DeBlassie III
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Unholy by Paul DeBlassie III is a supernatural horror story that draws on a number of spiritual traditions to provide a rich background to the characters and their experiences. The title refers to the antagonist, Archbishop Anarch, whose quest for power and fortune within the church has led him to moral and spiritual corruption.
Claire is one of the few people working at the Ecclesia Dei Psychiatric Hospital who isn’t a member of Anarch’s congregation, and so is outside of his control. She brings to the hospital her in depth knowledge of both natural therapies and mental health work, drawing on her educational background and her upbringing amongst medicine women. She is committed to her patients and critical of some of the hospital’s approaches to caring for them.
As well as her battle against the corrupt Archbishop, Claire is fighting against her own destiny. She is called to follow in her mother’s footsteps to be a medicine woman but has resisted this call as she is afraid that it will lead to her death. Having reached the age of 25, the age her mother was when Claire witnessed her violent death, Claire is increasingly worried about what her future holds.
One of my favourite characters was Francesca, Claire’s spiritual guide and foster mother. I liked how down-to-earth and observant she was, and how often Claire referred to her wisdom.
For me, this is a four-star book. If you’re looking for a battle between good and evil with a deep spiritual background and some interesting characters, this is worth a read!

The Hazed Series Boxed Set by Brittany Tarkington – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Hazed Series (Books 1-3)The Hazed Series by Brittany Tarkingon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Hazed Series (Books 1-3) by Brittany Tarkington is a college romance with a bad boy. There are three books in one and each one is very emotive. With lots of secrets and lies, pain and suffering, broken hearts and hate, love and understanding. Brittany has done a great job in the world she has created and the characters draw you to them. There is the normal YA angst but with these two characters it goes way deeper. They each have their own demons to struggle with. The first two books are told in the female POV and the third book is told in the male POV.

Taylor has never been allowed to be a normal teenager girl. Her home life has been under the rule of a “preacher”, her father. Now she is in college and out of home she vows that no one will rule her with an iron thumb ever again. When she finds a job there is one person who could threaten her sanity and her heart. All she wants is for him to let her in but sometimes love is just not enough.

Hayze is one person all the girls want, but he is one and done. He has secrets that he won’t share, he draws you in and throws you away, but that doesn’t stop him from getting what he wants. When he sets his eyes on the new girl, his entire outlook on life changes. If only he could give up his ways but he won’t give up the one thing that makes him sane but drives him mad. As much as he realises he is no good for her, he can’t keep away, she is his obsession.

I really enjoyed this series as it wasn’t your normal YA romance college story. I just wanted to wrap Hayze up and sort him out. He wasn’t a bad guy he just has so much baggage to sort through. If you like college romance stories then you will love this one.

Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

Found in the Lost (Special Forces: Operation Alpha / The Leonidas Corporation Book 1)Found in the Lost by Tarina Deaton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Found In The Lost by Tarina Deaton is a quick little romance in the jungle. All Kinley wants to do is show the world her accomplishment. Desperate to get to an archaeological dig so she can let her light shine she gets left out when she lands at the airport. All good love stories have a hero and Shane does not disappoint. A former Navy SEAL is there to pick up her pieces. Starting out Kinley doesn’t seem to be the strong individual that she turns out to be, in short, Kinley is surprising all the way around. This is a steamy little romance with some situations that might make some people uncomfortable. But a sweet little love story none the less.

Risking Everything: A Steamy Anthology of First RespondersRisking Everything: A Steamy Anthology of First Responders by Kara Liane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This collection of stories about romance with first responders starts off with an EMT that is quick to jump to conclusions in “Romance on the Rig” by Kara Liane. Murf falls for Lana at first sighting, but he makes some assumptions based on observations. Rather than asking questions to verify anything, he continues acting on false assumptions and hating his own attraction to someone that he considers to be “out of bounds” for him. When they do get together, they’re fun and interesting in how they date. The author does a wonderful job of giving a lot of information that makes the characters real without bogging down the story. Murf continues to assume the worst and almost loses the girl until he learns to truly open up. This is a great story and touches some real issues of how hard it is to communicate sometimes.

Vampire StateVampire State by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Vampire State by Alexander Charalambides, 4 stars.

This is quite an interesting and unique book. Sure, there have been many books about vampires. We have even read the human must decide between the vampire or the human. But this book throws in something I have never seen before — politics. Rowena is thrust into a world of Pales living richly and the humans living in squalor. She can no longer stand by and watch, she must help. In order to succeed, she must play the game of politics. While this has been done to some extent before, I can’t say I’ve seen it like this.

Then there’s Rowena herself. Not annoying in the least (as some young adult leads can be), you root for her all the way. Then there are the other characters, her family and the ones who try to help and harm her. All are completely different and add to the story. You will not love everyone, but that is the point. We also can’t forget the story itself. Yes, politics plays heavily in this story, but it is not over your head or all dry talk. The author makes it interesting and easy to understand while entertaining you at the same time.

A story of survival, making things better, politics and love with a supernatural twist, this book is so different and the story is done so well, I highly recommend it.

Stars-5

I was excited to read book 2 after reading book 1, and it was just as fantastic as the first. Carrie Pulkinen does a wonderful job on leading her readers on adventures with the characters. These adventures are exciting with highs, lows, and a great pace that completely keeps you on your toes and immersed in the storyline. I was happy that Sydney was getting her own story, and found that it isn’t always what it seems. I really enjoyed Blake. I felt that the two characters were well matched together and complemented each other wonderfully. So, if you are looking for a great series/book, look no further. This a great series! Although these can be read as a standalone, it would make the best sense when read in order.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Like the best fires, this story builds slowly to make sure that it burns stable and hot. It takes a little bit to build the different characters and plot lines. But the characters and the suspense have a lot of depth. There are many twists and turns as Lily and Dillon learn to be partners in the field as well as in life. Things continue to heat up as they transition from a simple witness retrieval to catching a murderer. It also offers one of the best lines I’ve found “Agents of DART get taken down by a blow dart, we’ll never live this down.” This is a story that will draw you in and keep you intrigued.

I loved getting to see these characters again. Didn’t realize how much I missed them until I dove into this book.
While we follow Brice and Favor in their POV, we are also getting a huge secondary story of Wayne and Jana. (Can’t wait for that one, it’s going to be emotional I can just tell)
Brice and Favor are spending the summer with friends and don’t expect What all happens to happen. They’re wanting fun and bonding and they get drama and high emotions. I felt all of everything in this book, and while its quick it packs its punches well. Can’t wait to get more from this group of characters.

“IN UNITY, THERE IS STRENGTH”

RISKING EVERYTHING is an anthology of stories featuring first responders. Some are super sexy and some are super sweet. There are stories filled with angst, romance and friendship.

Each story can be read as a stand-alone, and some have threads that come from a series that I will be adding to my “want to read” list.

Reconstructed Heart by K.L. Montgomery was one of my favorites. Often times in life, things happen that have a domino effect and we don’t know why until we can look back. That is what this story is about and it was heartbreaking and fantastic all at the same time.

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sheri Schrader

Love & Omens (Crescent City Ghost Tours, #2)Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & Omens by Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the Crescent City Ghost Tours series. I recommend reading the first book in the series before this one because there are some recurring characters and background which help with this one. Sydney Park works for Crescent City Ghost Tours and there are some changes coming including new tours. The new tour is ending at the Museum of the Macabre and is owned by someone from her past, Blake Beaumont.
This is a fun series set in the alluring and mysterious New Orleans. The setting adds to the story and helps to keep everything a bit spooky. I really liked Sydney in the first book and am glad she is the focus of this book. She is a strong character and knows what’s up. Blake is great and he is a nice offset from Sydney. The two work well together and I wanted everything to come together for them. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future and seeing more of the Crescent City Ghost Tours.

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel Book 2) by Maddie Wade & India Kells – Review by Michelle King

Hidden Obsession (An Alliance Agency Novel #2)Hidden Obsession by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t even tell you how in love with this series I am! Cleo and Mason are fantastically written and I just can’t get enough of them! Cleo is the violet haired, beautiful receptionist for the Alliance Agency and Mason Bentley is one of their sexy, smoking hot lead agents. There was an instant attraction between these two from the moment they laid eyes on each other. Cleo is adamant that she won’t get involved with anyone she works with but Mason is determined to break her down. When a stalker shows up in her life, Mason takes the lead on her case and is determined to keep her safe, but will he be able to when she isn’t telling him everything about her past? Some secrets aren’t meant to be kept and could get you killed if you don’t share them. Will Cleo be able to open up to Mason without changing his opinion of her for the worst? Is she willing to find out or should she just run?

As all of the books in this series has been… Hidden Obsession if full of action, suspense, emotion, and romance. It is superbly well written with a great plot, fantastic characters that you’ll instantly fall in love with, and a story line that will keep you on the edge of your seat. While each book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the series in order. Go ahead, start from the beginning! I’m sure you’ll love this series just as much as I do!

5-Stars

Risking Everything was an amazing steamy and romantic collection of stories. The stories were well written and entertaining with excellently developed characters. I had a hard time picking which one was my favorite. I did find it easier to relate to female lead character Penelope Justice in “Always Kind Of Love” by author Amanda Seigrest. This story was a second chance Romance featuring a hunky Fireman name Ethan. It was a fun read. I really enjoyed all of the stories present in this collection and I highly recommend it. It is definitely something a varied group of romance readers would enjoy.
