Romance under Aquarius: Stargazing Series #1Romance under Aquarius: Stargazing Series #1 by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Romance under Aquarius is the first book in this series. Danielle usually writes contemporary romance so it was a nice change to see something a little different. It is a paranormal romance with lots of different and interesting elements and developments. There is a lot going on so the story is told from many different POV’s giving us an even deeper look at the characters and just who they are.

With the lost city of Atlantis and Greek mythology, hot Mermen and Mermaids, royalty and cheating fiancés, drama and steamy romance there is a little of everything for any lover of paranormal.

I will not share anything more as you need discover it all on your own.

As one of twelve standalone books in this series I look forward to more.

I enjoyed reading this story. This is the first book of this new series and what a great start it is. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. One of the things I enjoy about this author is her ability to pull you into the story from the start. The characters bring her story to life on each page. They are connectable and just made the story for me. There is much going on in this story but it all fits together where it is not confusing. I enjoyed how the author used details to make the story realistic. There is great growth of the plot and also the characters throughout. This is a fast paced story that is engaging and hard to put down. I highly recommend this story and this author.

Romance Under Aquarius is a story from the four-point of view of Maris and her best friend, fiance, and a stranger named Kasper. The first three are the occupants of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and come together with Kasper to start an adventure to save Kasper’s brother. This adventure lands them in a lot of unlikely scenarios that they need to navigate their way out of. All of the characters are well-written and multi-dimensional. I instantly liked Maris and the lovable rogue, Kasper. I never came around to liking Ryn or Pasha. With the way the story starts, I just could not find it in my heart to feel anything positive towards either of them. This story is based on the qualities of the zodiac sign of Aquarius and every chapter displays those qualities beautifully. Romance Under Aquarius was a charming romance story. It wasn’t too intense but very fulfilling. The entire story kept me entertained and smiling.

I loved reading about Morgan Cutler! Morgan is a nurse in the ER, and after a near death experience and subsequent surgery she begins recognizing that she has newfound psychic abilities. After mentioning something to her surgeon, who blew her off, Morgan decided she would keep these new skills to herself. After meeting and enjoying the company of a new ER doctor, she finds he also has psychic abilities.

I’ve never experienced this blend of humor, paranormal, romance and mystery before, but I loved it! Very likeable characters, a unique and interesting storyline and several laugh out loud moments.

I really enjoyed this book – going in to it I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was well written and the characters were great to read about. I liked Morgan, she was a fun character to read about and was supported by some great secondary characters that really added that extra something to the story. The storyline and setting for the story was quite unique in that I’ve never read a paranormal set in a medical setting – it was nice to read something a little different!
Overall a really enjoyable read and one that I would definitely recommend. I am looking forward to reading more from this series!

Morgan, a nurse, has recently recovered from brain surgery. Upon her return to work, she starts to notice that she can see and interact with the dead. While adjusting to this new development, a new hot doctor tries to get her attention.
Opinion
If you read my reviews, you know by now that I am a big fan of paranormal books. This one is pretty awesome. I relate to the main character because she is over 40 and a bit jaded. Having the ability to see the dead is definitely one of the paranormal qualities I would love to have (I think.)
The book itself is well written with witty comments to make you laugh. Her friends/coworkers help to make the book fun, light and in some cases tense.

Distant Heart Sounds (Nurse Morgan #1)Distant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed Distant Heart Sounds, but if I’m being honest, it took a few chapters to get into it. The author has written a wonderful book with all kinds of emotions, happiness, fear, anger, humor etc. I actually laughed out loud at different points throughout. So if you give it a try, don’t give up on it. It’s so worth pushing through because once you get into it, trust me when I say you will be caught. Hook line and sinker.. lol
So we meet Morgan, a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. Who is just returning to work 3 weeks after having life saving brain surgery. Little did she know how much that event was going to change her life. She begins to experience things that she can’t explain. Waking up to a party going on in her house, yet there’s no one there. Experiencing strange smells in different situations. Seeing patients’ essence leave their body as they pass on. And so much much more. Unfortunately she seems to be questioning her sanity, she’s adamant that she knows what she saw but knows if anyone finds out they may think she’s crazy.
Savannah, Morgan’s boss and dear friend, notices Morgan is not herself and is beginning to worry. After confronting her about it Morgan brings her into a world like no other. One that they begin to experience together, that blows even the reader’s minds.
Then there’s Caleb, person of interest, new doctor on staff. He’s mysterious, handsome, and very confident with himself. Caleb is also very drawn to Morgan.
Will it go anywhere? Well pick it up, download it, whatever you have to do to jump into this world the author created. You won’t want to miss the adventure the characters end up on that’s for sure.

I really enjoyed this romance story. It was a mixture of romance and adventure with mythology and astrology mixed in to make this a really unique story.

Maris is the princess and a mermaid.Destined to marry Ryn and become ruler she was happy with that life until she discovers that Ryn doesn’t love her but wants to be with her best friend Pasha.
Devastated and angry she leaves Atlantis and sees a human man drowning. Defying all rules and logic she saves him and this starts what would be an adventure to change both of their lives.

Kasper is on the hunt for a mystical item that is said to restore health. All he wants is to stop his brother from dying and he will do anything to do that even risking his own life. So when he gets saved by a mermaid he is amazed when she offers to help him. Together they begin the quest of unravelling the clues to find the missing pieces that they need.
As the feelings and connection between them build they struggle to keep themselves as just friends and things become even harder when it seems the gods themselves want them to be together.

Can they solve this quest and save Kasper’s brother? Will Kasper and Mari ever be able to be together? Or will Mari’s position as Princess stop any romance before it even begins? Will she have to go along with her destiny and marry a man she doesn’t love and who doesn’t love her?

What a fun romantic adventure this book is! Kasper and Maris remind me of an adult Little Mermaid (not quite so wholesome). Kasper is trying to find a way that will heal his brother’s cancer and comes across Maris, a mermaid. The two of them continue the search for the healing jug with a few misadventures. Maris’ friends try to help her but end up messing up and causing their own ruckus. This book is laugh out loud funny! My family wanted to know what I was I was giggling at. The chemistry between Kasper and Maris was so well-done. It felt so natural. Her flirting with Owen and making Kasper jealous was awesome. The sibling rivalry fun was a nice touch. Pasha and Ryn’s betrayal of Maris and further misadventures seemed just right. I didn’t see that plot twist coming. Perfect! It fit in so smooth. I would have loved to see more of Pasha’s mom’s backstory. It was so intriguing that I had to keep going and couldn’t put it down. I had to know what was coming next. An engaging read that will have you waiting eagerly for the next book in the series. A quick and entertaining read that I recommend for romance lovers.

Enjoyable paranormal romance story with auras, ghosts, mystery and romance. Morgan Cutler is an ER nurse with many years experience……and going through a near death experience of her own she now has the psychic ability to see spirits of deceased people. There were moments that I chuckled with all the dialogue with Morgan and the “spirits”. I love that Morgan was also opening up herself to something new and throw in a handsome ER Doctor…what can truly happen if Morgan does see evil or are things better left unseen??

Looking forward to book 2!

Morgan has had a brain aneurism rupture, and a few weeks after surgery she starts to see, hear and smell things that shouldn’t be possible. One night she wakes up to a party in her living room that she can see, hear and even smell, though the people aren’t really there, and they don’t seem to be able to see or hear her. Eventually, she learns that she can see auras as well as spirits from the other side. As an ER nurse, this can sometimes be frustrating for Morgan, as she is overwhelmed with recently passed people who want or need her help, or just want someone to talk to. Eventually, Morgan learns that she’s not the only one in her friends group who has these abilities, and her friends are eager and willing to help her learn how to work her powers and navigate the new world she’s found herself in. Now, if she could just get the male ghost in her house to behave appropriately, she’d be in a much better position.

Taming of the Few: An Irish Urban Fantasy Novel is book one in the Guardians of the PHAE series by Rowan Dillon. I have always been a big fan for anything paranormal, but this one was impossible not to love. It had that cuteness vibe, and was very engaging right from the start. I enjoyed the character strengths and progression as I read. The author wrote a very much perfect book and story that I really enjoyed!

Morgan is an was a great character. She had such strengths, but also at the same time was well, human. She had a good heart, and when something “gift” her ability to do what most cant it changes her. Is it for the better or for worst? I find gifts always come with a price. I loved watching her grow as a character and how her new gift made her as a person and character. The book had those moments that very much made me laugh more than a few times! How could I not love this book It had everything I loved within its contents! I loved the writing technique of the author! Very well done and engaging as I read.

For sure this a a book I highly recommend. Read about Morgan and her adventures. I for sure am looking forward to see what Morgan will face off to next It was a fun and comforting read with all those warm fuzzy feelings! I highly recommend this must read book! It is not one to be passed up by any account!

Wow! What can I say? This has to be the most enjoyable book that I have read this year. Moreover for once I didn’t (and couldn’t) guess the ending. That happens all the time; I get part way through the book and can already tell how it would end.
This book had a sneaky, twisty plot that kept me guessing to the end – loved it!
I also loved the imagery that was created by such descriptive writing. I’m a visual person and I could see the scenes playing out in my head. The writing was so descriptive it put me in the time and space with the characters.
So of course I had to do a bit of digging and guess what I found – Oh my goodness; there’s another book. This one happens to be the second one. Having said that; there wasn’t any cross over between them. Reading this second book first, didn’t leave me at a disadvantage at all. I can tell you that I am hot footing off to read the first one though.
I highly recommend this for a good read – but watch out – it’s one you won’t want to put down until the very end!

Avery, in an effort to relax a bit, joined friends for drinks one evening. As she walks home afterwards, she finds herself attacked. When she wakes up in the morning, she can’t remember anything and searches for clues. A horrible discovery leads her to head to the hospital, but her problem is severe enough it makes her weak and dizzy. Her stoic neighbor Luys notes her distress and takes her to the ER. After a thorough check up, it appears that beyond her injuries she is completely healthy. It baffles Avery who would harm and traumatize her so seriously and she has to find out what happened.

In the course of this story, Avery and Luys reluctantly continue to keep track of each other thanks to their attraction to the other. When Luys discovers Avery knows his sister, Mayor, and exactly what her injuries included he knows he has to protect her and help her discover who hurt her.

The storyline for this book is one I haven’t heard of before, so it was a nice original twist. I continued to read because I was curious what nugget of information would be included next. After finishing it, I realized there are several little hints and tidbits scattered through the book that gave you the potential of picking up on some twists and turns ahead of time, but they were subtle enough that even if you notice them, it isn’t to really point you in any special direction. While this is book 2 in a series, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything that would help me better understand the direction of the story – but after reading the synopsis on book 1, I’d like to read it and learn more about Gabriel and family.

A Long Kiss GoodbyeA Long Kiss Goodbye by H.D. Thomson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Well this book took a turn I was not really expecting. This paranormal suspense started with a “normal” girl named Avery who starts to find herself in a very strange assault. On her way home from the bar one night she is attacked, but when she wakes up she can’t remember anything. She finds herself getting to the hospital with the aid of her neighbor Luys. What they find is very mysterious, nothing is wrong except for this crazy stitch work on her chest. As the story progresses, she and Luys build a connection, but both are going through different strangeness in their life. She is not sure who she can trust or not as she tries to figure out what happened to her and why there is a string of murders so close to home. The police warn her against Luys, Luys warns her against the woman Avery is friends with, and the circle continues. What happened to her, how is Luys related to all of this, and what does it mean for her future?
As a whole I thought this book was pretty good. It definitely took on a new spin on the paranormal romance suspense genre which I was thankful for. I loved Luys, he was sweet, caring, and seemed genuinely like a nice person. Avery, I didn’t not like her, but there were times I would find myself saying ‘girl you have got to be kidding me’. However, in the end, I did love her more after she started to fight for Luys a little more. One thing I wish was a little different was how the chapters were labeled. There were many times I started reading a new page or chapter and had no idea which character perspective I was reading from till the end of the page. There are many characters playing important roles in the story so maybe if she let us know who was speaking from the start I wouldn’t have had to pause and think about what they were saying or where the story was trying to go.

O.M.G. what a great read this book is. The paranormal take with the true crime involved. I didn’t realize it when I downloaded it that it was book 2. I immediately went and read book 1 once I finished book 2. I am for sure now following and reading anything from this author.

I wasn’t expecting the twist in the last few chapters and I loved that it kept me intrigued and made it hard to put down. I loved how Avery and Luys were so opposite in the first half of the book. I immediately fell in love with Avery and was hoping the ending would be how it was for her.

I am off to download some more from this author as I felt like I was reading a true crime from a TV show or something. It was easy to follow and once I was halfway through, thought I had figured it out. You know how you do with crime TV shows…. then the twist and I was shocked! I loved it and how it was written out.

The beginning does a good job about pulling you in! I was absolutely interested in finding out how Avery was attacked and that in itself was enough to keep me reading. This story continued to keep my attention throughout every chapter! I’m going to go back and read the first book because this book was so good.

Imagine going out one night with your friends to have a couple drinks then wake up naked in your bed the next day. Not knowing what happened, you start to panic. It feels like you’ve been hit by a truck but the last thing you remember is walking home from the previous night. That is exactly what happened to the main character of this book, Avery.

Avery decides to go to the hospital to get herself checked out. Struggling to the car, her next door neighbour, Luys, sees her and asks if she is okay. Looking like she’s about to pass out, he sweeps her up and drives her to the hospital.

Luys decides to keep an eye on her while she recovers but neither one of them know why. Before this incident, they barely spoke two words to each other but this circumstance brought them together. There is a strong will they won’t they vibe as you can feel the tension. Meanwhile Avery is trying to figure out what happened to her.

As more bodies start appearing, she feels like she is the target of a serial killer. Can she find out who the killer is before they come back to finish her off?

The author did an amazing job with this book. I was at the edge of my seat the whole way. Unpredictable twists and turns kept me guessing what would happen next. I could not put this book down.

The way the author described the world made everything so vivid. Avery’s character came to life.

This book was more than I expected. Expecting just a standard thriller, the story we got was even better. Luys and Avery are neighbors that barely know each other. It seems Luys is a grumpy neighbor who doesn’t want to be bothered. After Avery is attacked, Luys helps her and the story takes off. I found both characters very likable and I enjoyed watching their story unfold and rooting for them. They had wonderful chemistry together and I found myself wanting them to get together instantly. The book is well-paced and has excellent action-type sequences. The protagonist reacts to things just as you would expect them to. The book had a satisfying ending while also leaving room for more books. I greatly enjoyed this book.

Okay, Captivated is absolutely a guilty pleasure! If you ever asked me in public if I read this book I would say “no”! It is so much steamy goodness in one little package!! I love a good Fated Mates tale but this one takes the cake (well both cales)!! If polyamorous relationships is not your thing, this is not the book for you. But if it is even a teensy bit, you HAVE to give this a try! I am absolutely following this author from now on!

I’d previously heard wonderful things about this author’s work, and I’m thrilled I finally listened and chose one of their books. Little did I know that I would get hooked so quickly. It was so difficult to put this book down, so I just didn’t! Angelina is a young artist living with her best friend in the city just living her best life, despite her friend insisting that she put herself out there and find a man. Angelina has her own plans, and a relationship with just any guy is last thing on her mind. What is heavily on her mind is the steamy dreams she has been experiencing of two sexier than sin men. Her world gets quickly turned upside down when she is abducted by an evil demon. She is saved just in time by none other than the men from her dreams and her whole life changes forever at that point forward. Next comes action, tragedy, steamy romance, and a fantasy world of magic. Don’t skip over this book any longer!

What a unique and interesting story. It was not at all what I expected when I started reading it but I found myself easily invested in what was happening. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was really taken with the writing style. It didn’t matter that this book were the second in the series the author still managed to get my attention. I will definitely be reading the first book and any more than come.
