3.5 stars

Bonds That Beckon (Daughters of Anubis Book 1) by Kelli Kimble is a YA paranormal story. It is the story of a young woman who just wants to be accepted in the small mindedness of the people in the town she is in. She is more than she seems and finds someone who can help her. But she also finds her true mate whilst trying to figure it all out. The premise is great, and I liked the characters, but I felt the relationship between the main characters could have been explored more and it felt a little unreal. I also found Iris to be a little naive when it came to trusting others. The story is aimed at YA’s so they may feel a little differently to me when they read it. Give it a go.

No Rest for the Wicked (Life Is Hell Book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie is a paranormal romance story. Naomi’s story telling gets better with each book she writes. Her narrative is on point and her characters are delightful. It’s a fast-paced story that doesn’t lack for anything to make it a good strong story. With danger and Demons, shifters and drama, witches and fallen angels and more what could you ask for. Watching Naomi grow as, an author is a pleasure.

So to start India Kells is one of my favorite authors and I love and will read anything she writes. I read the books in this box set separately and love that they are now boxed and I can sit down sometime and read them back to back. They are Amazing!

The secondary characters were completely awesome…I loved the dialogue between all of them and I absolutely could not wait for each story, I loved all of the main characters in this series and I loved the story in the background that kept building, I really want more in this series and can’t help wondering if there just maybe some future stories there??? This series has just about everything a paranormal reader could want Witches, Vampires, Werewolves, Dragons and just some awesome storylines, awesome writing, and each book you just don’t want to put down.

I highly recommend reading all of these books in order so you have all of the characters’ stories up to this point, it just adds to the whole of this series that much more.

Phenomenal Series!!

Broken Magic: A witch who is cursed and a werewolf who hates her. All he wants is revenge for what happened to his family but fate has different ideas for the two of them. This is a great start to this series.

Blind Magic: Once again, a fated witch and a werewolf. When they get together, it’s electric. With Sera going blind, Ian will break every law to protect her.

Dead Magic: Finn O’ Malley is one of the oldest living vampires. He knows he must stay away from Violet but he can’t. They have a connection so strong that he can feel her as she’s getting tortured. He’ll stop at nothing to find her.

These books are filled with magic, danger and suspense that will keep you glued to your seat. With the addition of mythology, this trilogy is an original piece of work.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This anthology was a “fun” departure from the usual anthologies I find to read. Very well put together, the collection was cohesive and well publicized for the spookier time of year. If you enjoy paranormal, spooky reading, you will enjoy this volume. All of the authors contributed something I found interesting – and I found some authors that I hadn’t read before. I will admit that Wynne was an immediate pull for me as I’ve read several other works from her library. It was nice to see her step outside the genre I typically find her writing. Overall just a great story from Wynne and collection from the group.

I just love a box set of themed books! Throw in the fact that it is my favorite theme, Spooky Season, and I am in legit heaven. I scooped this gem up as soon as it released and it kept me in the spirit of the spooky season all season long! I loved that some of these were new to me authors so now I have a list of new TBR’s to read soon as well as it featuring some of my favorite authors. (cause we all need a longer TBR right? LOL!) One of the stories that stuck out to me the most was Karma’s Karnival by Aubrey Wynne. This book was a thrill ride to read and I am anxious to see what its future will be with this new series from her. It has so many layers to it but honestly the scare was easy to enjoy. Who doesn’t love a good karnival? Throw in Purgatory and you have quite the adventure! I will share the names of the authors included below of the other reads, all are worthy of at least 4 stars if not more! This set is one you do not want to miss!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Soul’s Day Box Set is an anthology of paranormal and Halloween stories by a variety of incredible authors. There is a great mix of spooky stories to keep you interested and a range of different stories so they all felt different. I found this is be a great set to be able to pick up and put down between each book so that I could make it last for longer! It also meant they the different books didn’t blend into one and I could pick them all out from each other with ease.
I was familiar with some of these authors when I started this series but the majority were new to me and this was a great way to discover their work. Each book was interesting and well written but also completely different in style from the others. I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology and will definitely be checking out more from all of these authors in the future.

The Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set - Book 1-3 + NovellaThe Sanctuary Chronicles Box Set – Book 1-3 + Novella by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic set of stories – I read books 2,3 and the novella but definitely need to make time to read book 1 – they are brilliant reads!!

Book 2 – Blind Magic
I thought that the story was really unique and interesting to read. My attention was grabbed straight away and was held throughout the book. I liked the characters, I thought that they were thought out and they developed well over the story. I thought that Sera was strong female lead, she strong, independent and knew her limits. I really enjoyed reading about her. Ian was also a really strong character, not as alpha as I was expecting but I liked that about him.
There were some great twists and turns in the story that I definitely didn’t see coming.

Book 3 – Dead Magic
Loved this book!! From beginning to end I was completely captivated by Finn and Violet’s story! The author (who I adore) wove a magical paranormal romance tale of two wonderful characters! There was so much going on in the story that I couldn’t put it down at all and read it in one sitting! The story just flowed easily from page to page – I think this could possibly be one of my favourite books by Ms Kells! I love how Violet and Finn really shouldn’t be together, Violet hates vampires, but there was something there between the two of them that was undeniable! I loved the interaction between the two of them! I did feel for Violet and what happened to her in her past and Finn really wanted to protect her.

Novella – Hidden Magic
Hidden Magic may have been a novella but it was packed full with a wonderful storyline and equally as wonderful characters. I am completely in love with Kat and Brant’s story, it is just so beautifully written. Brant’s determination just showed how much Kat means to him and I was rooting for them the whole way through. I honestly thought that they were so perfect for each other.
The whole story is just so beautifully and richly detailed that at times it is so easy to imagine what I am reading.

Wow what an ending. In Tompkin’s School: For The Resurrected (A Supernatural Academy Trilogy Book 3) by Tabi Slick, the third book in this trilogy the final ending was a real roller coaster. At times as I’m reading this book it’s really hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. But that’s true in life, I guess. It didn’t end the way I wanted it to but then I like happy endings, but you don’t always get them. This is a story that has so many twists and turns it’ll keep you guessing the entire time. Will the Torvik twins finally meet their destiny. You’ll have to spend an evening with this story to find out.

Soul's Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween ThemeSoul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Theme by Erin Lee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Soul’s Day Boxset: Horror and Paranormal Halloween Anthology by numerous USA Today and international bestselling authors is a fantastic buy and a mixture with horrors and paranormal stories (as the title suggests) to tease and tantalise the senses of those who love this genre. Each story is incredibly intriguing and thrilling, compelling and enthralling. It has everything that you can imagine that goes bump in the night.

With great authors:

My Dead Life by Erin Lee is the story of a young woman who has lived with death all her life but what happens when it’s your own death?

A Hallow’s Eve Jinx Part II by Judith Holstrom is the story of returning to your child hood home but returning awakens something in the dark.

Dead Men Rising by Amber Garr is the story of magic and being caught in the middle of magical creatures and entities and not knowing who to trust. But it is a deadly game being played.

Cursed by Ashlee Sinn is a tale of love, a shifter and magic. It is a story of a father who disappears and a woman who needs help. They are more than they seem and with mommy dearest around things are twisted and dangerous.

Daughter of Darkness by L.L. Hunter is the story of one person who has unbelievable abilities inherited from powerful Nephilim and she is in danger. They want her dead.

Drained by Monique Singleton is a tale where bodies are drained, secrets are dark, spirits roam and a Voodoo witch doctor all set in New Orleans.

Revenant by Majanka Verstraete is a spooky tale of ghosts attached to people. Murderers and seeking revenge. She was someone or rather now she was something she didn’t know what. What she did know was that she was dead.

Karma’s Karnival by Aubrey Wynne is a historical dark and twisted story set in a carnival and purgatory.

Night Ranger by Stephanie Ayers is the story of the Night Ranger collector of souls needed to release his curse.

The Root of all Evil by D.M. Wolfenden is a fast paced horror story that is thrilling and the fear is palpable when you are cut off from the outside world.

Finders Keepers by Maggie Tideswell is a paranormal romance where our main character is sent to marry a man she doesn’t know and what she finds is a world of horror.

Shhh by Sian B. Claven is a psychological thriller where the author gets creative and nothing is quite as it seems in the new world of hearing.

Dungeons and Demons book 2 by Kayla Krantz is one of those stories like those movies where you yell at the tv and tell them not to open the door or where the killer is. Demons are rife and murders are happening and being singled out in high school.

The Guardian’s Nightmare by Yvette Bostic is a good story where the characters are more than they seem and a terrible fight that calls the Guardian to help. But how do you stop evil that is never ending?

Hidden in the Dark by Brandy Nacole – what happens when the dead come hunting the living? Will she be next?

Jilted by Azaa Davies is an urban paranormal story of a missing husband and a world of shifters she knew nothing about. Nothing is as perfect as she wants to believe.

Still Breathing in My Dreams by Jennifer Fish-Ferguson is the story of one woman who finds out that she and others in the world are so much more than ordinary and different.

Chimera by Lea Cherry is a tale of going camping in a haunted forest and on Halloween. Simple right? Nothing could be more haunting, you will never look at camping in quite the same way.

Little Golden Locket by Scarlet Le Clair is the harrowing tale of four friends and their visit to and island where they believed the stories where just stories but found they so much more.

This book is the third book in the series. This story is the darkest fantasy story. I highly recommend reading the first two books before reading this installment. I have enjoyed the twins. I love watching them grow throughout the series. Throughout this trilogy the twins (Izara and Kain) have been through a supernatural wave, The twins are not in sync in fact they are being pulled away from one another. Izara and Kain are dealing with personal demons. How will this affect their relationships with loved ones or those who they care about? I highly recommend this series to see where theTwins end up.

Reading the final chapter of Kain and Izzy’s journey was a joy. There were some twists and turns but that made the book just more enjoyable. The ending surprised me a little but it fit the story. The war is coming closer to becoming a reality. Izara and Kain don’t know who they can trust. With opposite opinions, they are losing trust in each other as well. People are not who they appear to be. Enemies become friends and friends turn into enemies. Credan’s power is growing and everyone is going crazy.

This is by far my favourite book in this trilogy. Everything comes to a head and the book is full of action. Add some mystery and backstabbing and you have a winning story. Although I’m not sure I liked the ending, the story ended as it should. All loose ends are tied. This is absolutely an amazing trilogy. A definite must read.

Tompkin's School: For The Resurrected (Supernatural Trilogy #3)Tompkin’s School: For The Resurrected by Tabi Slick
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We start this story off back with Kain, Izara and Choyce, as well as the other characters which have also drawn you into the series, but we also learn where it all started and why. We are introduced to Thomas Thompkin and the schools namesake to see what happened to him and why he made the decision to create the academy in the first place. We also see what happened to one of the main characters in the first book and the repercussions of the actions of those around them, but this leads to more insights into the strange occurrences in the first two books as well.

Kain is still having dreams which have a dose of his reality mixed in with them, he is shrill waking up more exhausted than ever, but Izara doesn’t seem to be having the same issues, she is continuing with her research into how they can stop the upcoming clash of the opposing sides wanting control of the school and the students within it, when she discovers a book which calls to her in an irresistible way, but the temptation is hard to deny and despite all the warnings, Izara cannot stop herself from trying to discover its secrets.

As life at the Academy continues, tempers are fraying and choices are being made which will affect them all, trust is being questioned as are motives and emotions, Kain and Izara are still struggling with their powers and the things that they have done, as well as school work, plus the usual racing hormones and teenage problems which creep up on them.

Will the twins be able to resist the forces pulling them apart, or will they be led astray and be unable to stop the upcoming battle? What are the right choices and who can they trust? What will the future be filled with, darkness or light?

This book is the concluding chapter in the series and does not disappoint in any way, it is a compelling read which will keep you on a rollercoaster of emotions, will keep you off balance and guessing until the end.

I have really enjoyed this trilogy, A Supernatural Academy Trilogy, from Tabi Slick. This is a series that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, as I also know my teen daughter adores this series as well. The world building is fantastic and you feel as if you are off to school in a magical place right in the middle of all the action. This is the third and final book in the trilogy, and I would personally recommend that you read them in order before this one. You will know the storyline and characters well by now and won’t be nearly as lost. I loved how this concluded with a big bang of a battle that will be with me for many days to come. This being the end does have me a tad sad but I am eager to see what Tabi Slick is working on for the future.

Book 1 Is the start of the magical adventure the author doesn’t disappoint in writing fast paced stories with fun and interesting characters and plots that suck you in from the first page.

Book 2 From the very first chapter of this book I was intruged. Sera and Ian what does all this mean for them. What do you get when you combined a blind witch, a werewolf and a forbidden spell you get this action packed book. Ian by far is my favourite character his story drew me in. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Book 3 This is the third book of this series by India Kells and yet again it delivers a great story.
Finn you feel for him and get right into is mind. You get right into the world and don’t want to come out of this book it such an amazing read I did not want it to finish.

I highly recommend this high fantasy series for all fantasy lovers alike. This world is brought to life by Kells ao much you feel as if you are stepping into it.

Bonds that Beckon (Daughters of Anubis, #1)Bonds that Beckon by Kelli Kimble
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is different in a lot of ways. It is has with ancient creatures, small minded townsfolk, it’s set in the sixties and has a guy who talks craziness. This has a bit of real-ness mixed with the unbelievable.

I am shocked the main character bought into everything so easily. She is a hard worker and seems smart. New kid in a new unforgiving town. I could see the attachment to Mr Anu. I loved the connection between the parents and daughter. Very believable. The soul mate connection was very hard to swallow. I felt no connection..no frozen moments. Just one day…poof…mated.

Overall I liked the whole small town problem here. That was great and made me wonder what would happen next. The rest fell short for me. Sorry.

No Rest for the Wicked (Life is Hell book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie

5 +++++ Stars

This author continues to blow me away with her words and the imagination she puts into her storylines. She has taken a genre I normally avoid and has me glued to my kindle wanting to know what happens next. Every book I finish of hers has me anticipating the next. Her character building is phenomenal and has me connecting and completely understanding those I’m reading about.

This book was no exception, something else this author does better than many is take a story and cut out all the dragging, all the descriptions I dont need of surroundings and such and puts a pace on it that I personally love and appreciate. It’s a fast paced story, but one that is never hard to follow. I love that she is not scared to do this.

I loved Delilah! Her no nonsense inner dialogue, her strength, and her quest to just get away and relax, also that small soft side she doesn’t even realize she has. Her life in the city leaves no room for down time and I could feel how much she needed that. The dedication of this book describes Delilah perfectly! Then add in her supporting cast, Malakhi was a little harder to read, but as the book went on I found myself understanding him better. Caspian and Sheridan absolutely cracked me up, their comebacks and then the pranks were awesome.

This story had it all. There was drama, danger, twists and turns, Demons, Hunters, witches, fallen angels and even a nix and a shifter to keep me completely engrossed in this story. I Loved the ending, it left me wanting the next as soon as possible, and also left me wanting to know more about Malakhi and his history.

I can’t recommend this book enough, I can’t recommend this author enough. I am one of her biggest fans and will read whatever she chooses to write!
