This is an imaginative story. I actually got caught up in the story near the end. Sadly this ends unfinished so the next book is needed to continue the adventure. This story felt kinda slow to me for the first half. Luckily this has short chapters which helps the story move along at a quicker pace. The second half is when things speed up and get interesting. We meet a lot of new characters and the world is just different. I felt like Dorothy who landed in Oz trying to figure out the reasons and customs of the new realm.
Overall I struggled with the first half of the book. I kept plugging along and the second half kept me entertained. We end with a lot of unanswered questions.

Blood & Vengeance is the second book in the Casket Girls series. It’s a great series – vampire-hunting paranormal romance set in 18th Century New Orleans. I love the setting – a lot of attention has been paid to historical detail making for a vibrant and interesting world to explore. It’s definitely worth reading this series in order. Although from a romance perspective each story focuses on a different couple, the paranormal plot that runs through is developed from book to book. The background of Blood & Ravens will really help readers appreciate Blood & Vengeance. With Greer off in the Underworld, the focus in this book shifts to Desiree. She’s determined to eliminate the remaining vampires that were preying on her and her companions. This determination is heightened when she learns that the vampire that was assigned to her – who got a taste for her blood – may still be out there. Desiree is a good foil to the pining Theron, and steps up to the mark to advocate for Jaxon as he proves his willingness to change. It’s good to see characters who were previously in a fairly powerless position gain agency and learn to stand up for themselves. This is another five-star book, and I’m excited to see that the series will continue! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the previous one, and would recommend the previous one to all fans of paranormal romance and anyone with an interest in New Orleans’ history.

Enchanted in Time is a great story filled with romance, suspense and mystery. Roxanne has dealt with loss in her life. As a distraction, she goes to live with an elderly woman who is a writer named Claudette. I loved the conversations that the two had about writing characters as a fellow author. This was not a typical romance because the story wasn’t just about two people falling in love. Roxanne did meet and fall in love with Phillip but the book also dealt with her relationship with Claudette. This was an interesting change of pace for me. Also, Phillip is from a different time period which gives the story a science fiction aspect. Overall, Enchanted in Time is about people who have suffered great loss in their lives and how they overcome said loss. This story also showed that you can have hope when things seem bleak. I did not enjoy this book as much as I expected to, however that is mostly my own doing. I didn’t pay enough attention to the categories this book is listed under and missed the fact that it’s a coming-of-age story (and probably could have surmised that from the blurb, but didn’t for some reason). Those are not my usual reads. In addition to that, it’s under a romance category, but it’s definitely more of a love story due to how things play out (which isn’t really clear by reading the book description). I don’t usually read those either. The writing style took a little getting used to as well.
That being said, if coming-of-age and love stories are your thing, you’ll likely enjoy this book very much. I like the overall concept of the book and the author did a great job of creating the characters. The world building was also great. You will experience many different emotions while reading this, and the tension keeps things interesting.

Desiree hates vampires and will not stay on the side lines. She ends up in the presence of Jaxon and although she is trying to hate him she finds she just can not. There is a pull between the two. Will Desiree have a change of heart and fall for Jaxon? Will Jaxon succumb to his old Mistress in order to keep her safe? Read this amazing part 2 to find out all the details. You will be kept in suspense and hoping all is what it seems.

The Second Alpha Heir by C.L. Ledford 4 out of 5 stars
To say I related to this book is an understatement. The main character, Nolen, went through so much and still persevered. To never feel good enough, to think your mate would have rejected him, and to think he could never be accepted as the pack leader, yet he still went through all the training.
Being a person who was bullied, and never thought I was good enough, this book brought me to tears on multiple occasions. Then in the next chapter I was shouting and dancing and yelling, “Go Nolen!” Very few books make me feel this way, and I was pleasantly surprised that this book got me to this point. The Second Alpha Heir, was an easy and quick read, being only 175 pages, but left you wanting to read just one more chapter before bed. Next thing you know you are finishing the book, it’s 4 am, and you have to get up for work.
If you want a book that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions; happy, sad, angry, and easily relatable main character, this is the book for you. I cannot write enough good things about this book, so thank you C.L. Ledford for writing such a fantastic book!
What pushed me to give 4 out of 5 stars if this book was so good? A couple of things, but I want to point out, that if I could give half stars I would. I definitely would rate this 4.5 instead of 4, but alas here I am only able to give 4 stars. Reasons for deducting one star are a few minor things that hopefully can help the author grow and keep writing books as amazing as this one! The first reason would be, which was towards the beginning and very minor, was that the female lead character, her actions seemed off for being at age 10. For example, she hid behind her mom’s skirts. If she was 10, how was she that small? I picture “hiding behind her mom’s skirts” would be a little toddler scared of new people, not a 10 year old. Another writing option would be, she was hiding behind her mother’s frame. I feel that type of description might have made more sense. I also felt that some of the scenes were a bit rushed, and could have been described a bit more. Some of the battle scenes, fasting forward to 90 years old, etc. Like I said, very minor things to help with constructive criticism.
I cannot wait for more books to be published by this author!
I always love a good retelling and this book was a great example. It is unique take on Alice in Wonderland and the book has all the fun chaos that ia associated with it. I loved how dark and intense the story felt. It was so similar and yet at the same time completely different. I was pulled into the story easily and had to find out what was going on. This is a new author for me and what a great way to be introduced. If this book is anything like the rest of work then I can’t wait to discover more.

This has to be one of my favourite books by this author so far. I loved the story and how well the author developed it. The bond between the two main characters was so convincing and real. It was lovely to see it play out over the pages. The book was full of twists and turns. You never quite knew what was going to happen or how things would end and I liked that the author kept ne guessing. This is a brilliant book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend it.

Pursuit into Darkness (War of Destiny Book 2) by Theresa Van Spankeren. This is a great Vampire Paranormal read. Its set in the 16th century Elizabethan London and its about new and old vampires! There is a fight against Valentino the strongest Vampire of them all. Samuel and a new vampire Julia are leading the fight against Valentino. The battle is intense and seems to get very risky. Samuel and Julia know they are outmatched but they have to use their brains to figure out how. This story would be enjoyed more if you read the first book. The author writes so well that you truly feel like you are in 16th century England. This isn’t my favorite genre but I have really enjoyed this series so far! Beware when you start reading be prepared to finish because you won’t want to put it down!

Holy Cow! What an incredible book. Evaline, still mourning the loss of her mother, works for her father as his secretary but she dreams of working with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. She aspires to be a great detective and to use her skills and abilities as a witch to help solve cases. As far as she knows, Evaline is only a necromancer, meaning she can bring back the dead and she does just that during her adventure in the mirror world of London called Londinium. Evaline and her betrothed Delbert are whisked away to the mirror world to help find an artifact and stop Doctor Death from her reign of death and destruction before it is too late, and Death comes to proper London. While in Londinium, they come across the strangest and scariest of beings including witches and undead people. What will happen to them? Will they be able to return to London or forever be stuck in the mirror world? You must read this book! The characters are very well written and full of life and personality. The suspense builds up as the pages turn and I found myself unable to put the book down! I am so excited to read what happens in the next book as Evaline and Delbert continue on their adventure!

This is the first I’ve read by this author, and I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty good. There are a lot of Irish Gaelic names and vernacular, and while the author does have a cheat sheet in the back, on Kindle it’s easier to just look everything up. I do love how there are also recipes in the back, and I’m probably going to try a couple. It is a bit of a longer book, it took me a couple days to finish it. I thought it came off to a bit of a slower start, but it still pulls the reader in on the adventure.

Death & Mirrors is the first book in this YA Gaslamp fantasy. SF’s unique retelling with a twist of the fairy tale Alice In Wonderland. It has it all with necromancers, mythical artefact, a bizarre stranger, a heinous criminal, magick, a budding detective and so much more in this adventure.
The plot is interesting and the characters are as unique as the tale. It was an intriguing read that lovers of Gaslamp fantasy will love.
Evaline imagines herself a bit of detective like Sherlock Holmes not only that she is also a necromancer. When she happens upon a mystery, she soon finds herself falling down the rabbit’s hole straight in to an alternate world.

I really enjoy Nikki’s work and when I saw this book, I jumped to get it. Enchanted indeed! It is a wonderful paranormal story with so many twists you will not see coming. There is suspense, tension, and lots of the feels/emotions. My heart broke but also warmed. Nikki gave us a magical, unique, complex and multi-layered tale.
I love a tangled web full of mystery and intrigue as it keeps you guessing and Nikki delivered that and more. There were tears, laughter, intrigue, beautiful friendships, romance and so much more.
This is one tale that I am not going to give anything away. It is a magical tale that needs to be read and discovered without preconceived ideas.

This book is fantastic. Evaline is a strong young woman who may have some fears about using her magic and saving the worlds but she is going to do it. She is on a search for the treasure that will kill the creature trying to destroy the worlds…plus she is up against her father’s archaic views of trying to marry her off. Full of suspense, intrigue and adventures with a dash of romance, you surely won’t be disappointed with this story. Evaline is a strong protagonist that goes up against some mean characters. Well-written, the plot really flows well together. There are even a few plot twists thrown in for good measures. I love how the characters are written and how well they all mesh together even though they are so different. It amazes me with the archaic views of fathers trying to marry off their daughters, and it’s never for love. Ugh! The tone is humor with serious. It’s an enjoyable read that the young adults, even the older adults will enjoy.

So freaking good! I am some one who loves anything to do with ancient things, especially artifacts, so this book really called out to me. Once I started, I was invested to the point where I could not put this book down as it was just so intense at times, with its own intrigue!
Loved the mysterious surrounding this book. I loved how the author kept us as the reader interested with interesting events, a strange different world, that made me questions lot of things. And of course, wonderful characters that brought the story to life, along with the author’s sensational writing!
Loved this book with a passion. I will continuously recommend this book for a long time to come, it was perfectly done, and a must read for sure! Definitely do very much highly recommend! Loved it!

As always, this author amazes me in all which they write and create. This book alone had its own magic and mesmerized me with the words in which it held. The characters brought on their own intrigue as well, I could not put it down, I was very much invested with my reading.
The book gave me such feelings, and the truth, which was hard to take at times, we are meet an end’s meet at some point, no matter how much we want to avoid it. But something that does not die with us, is the life we lived, the impressions we made, or the story of ourselves that we wrote. I found all that to be true a I read this wonderful book.
I was caught up between Roxanne and Claudette as I read, and I was so emotionally invested, I can not come up with other words to say how much I loved and appreciated this novel. Wonderful character development and heart felt emotions. Loved it!
The writing was amazing, and the author certainly brought a beautiful story to life in many ways. We all need to read this I believe. Do not pass it up! I highly recommend this must-read book!

I enjoyed reading this story. This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up this author. One of the things I enjoy is how she uses details to make me feel part of the story. This is a well written story about Roxanne and her job of caring for Claudette. Claudette has one dying wish and that is to spend her last days in a house she loves being in. These two bond over stories. Now Roxanne is questioning herself and even the fictional characters. What happens next in this story you will want to read to find out. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the start. I enjoyed these characters and how connectable they were. They are strong, supportive characters that made the story for me. This is a fast paced story that kept me coming back for more. A fast paced story that kept me engaged and I wanted to know more. I enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the growth of the plot. This is a story that is hard to put down. You don’t want to miss this story for sure. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is a beautiful story. Roxanne is recovering from the loss of her husband and son. She is offered a caregiving position with Claudette Grayson, a famous author that she idolizes. Little does Roxanne realize that she has walked into a magical mystery that will change her life forever. Full of intrigue, romance, suspense, mystery and a bit of enchantment/time-travel, the story will grab you by the hand the minute you start it and pull you right in. You will find that you must know what happens after every page. I couldn’t put it down. Phillip is the mystery man of intrigue and I had to know who he was and what was going on. The story is so well-written. Claudette is so set on her story being finished that you can’t help but wonder why. The mystery of who Phillip is and why he is is a primary question. The intrigue of what happened between Margaret and Phillip? So many questions to be answered. I love the plot twists. The plot even flowed smooth for having a few diversions. The characters were well-intertwined. Every one had their individual part but also played a key role. I didn’t see Renee’s surprise coming. I found that the trapped in time/enchantment theme worked really well. The climax of the book played out well. I wasn’t too sure at first but as it was explained, it all came out so well. A great book that I feel many will love. Highly recommend.

OMG! This book had me in my feelings more than I expected. The story was original with aspects of true blue werewolf culture. I loved the characters. I was drawn towards Nolen, not only because of his heart, but for the ideals he expressed when not feeling like he is good enough. Anyone that has ever felt that way can relate to Nolen. The love and respect Nolen feels for Amora is spectacular. There are so many good things about the way he loves her. I didn’t want this book to end. I wanted it to be left open for a series. My heart was shredded at the end.

A great debut novel! Nolan is the second son to the alpha and when his brother is attacked and killed we get to experience his growth from a runt to a true alpha. The slow burn romance is always a favorite of mine and this one did not disappoint! The time jumps in this book did throw me off at first, but I was quickly able to figure it out! Overall, I did enjoy this book and it was a quick, easy read!
In The Second Alpha Heir, tragedy strikes the Rhyolite Werewolf Pack, forcing second born Nolan to step up as Alpha of the pack. Nolan finds his true self, which turns out to be entirely opposite of what he was made to believe by other pack members. From making friends, to finding love, to loss, Nolan takes the reader through his life, from being the underdog to the Alpha. The characters and feelings of The Second Alpha Heir are highly relatable. The main characters go through the confusion of finding who they truly are, finding love, losing love, and happiness. The reader can feel along with the characters. I laughed, cried, and worried along with them. I was a little skeptical at first, but The Second Alpha Heir by far exceeded my expectations. There was not a single moment I did not like. For fantasy and werewolf lovers, The Second Alpha Heir hits all the spots. The book is full of twists and turns and is highly relatable.

Nolen never planned to be Alpha, he was the brother to the future Alpha and was always in his shadow. Nolen knew he was loved by his parents but he was scrawny, bullied, and never a candidate until the day he was. Now he is the heir of the Ryholite Pack and has to be trained at a fast speed. He will do his duty with honor but the pack who always looked down on him, will they be able to accept him?
I really enjoyed this book. I liked the fact that the author took time to give us an insight into training to be Alpha. There is so much more to this story that happens and I really was pulled in reading about Nolen and how he comes to terms with his future. Would definitely read more by this author.

Nolan was not supposed to be the next heir to his wolf pack, that was supposed to be his older brother, Archer, that is until Archer is killed and Nolan is now the next alpha. This is not your typical werewolf book; this book is full of surprises and twist. If you love the paranormal and a good hero, you will love this book. Nolan is such a wonderfully written character and someone you can relate to. If you haven’t read this already you must!
I love a good werewolf romance but they can get repetitive. Prepare for divergence with this one!!
Nolan the “spare” alpha heir has been bullied his entire life but his entire life changes when Archer his brother is killed and he becomes the next Alpha. He goes away to a neighboring pack to train to become and alpha and for the first time in his life finds friends and excels but still doesn’t believe his pack will accept him as Alpha when he returns.
Without giving away major story lines this book is full of turmoil personal growth slow burn romance action and has a lot of heart. The ending left me in tears… albeit happy tears

To be honest I was a little sad that this wasn’t centered around Geer and Theron, but it was nice to see it from Desiree’s perspective and how she felt with all of the events that happened. In walks Jaxon who turns her world upside down. The two bicker and fight like siblings it was a breath of fresh air. Poor Theron has his hands full with Desiree, and the situations she gets into is funny and scary at the same time. The brief view we see from Geer made my heart hurt and want more information, but I know she will be okay. With witches, vampires and demons oh my! Throw in a little romance and you have a wonderful story. It was written wonderfully with no hiccups. I can’t wait to see what book 3 brings, and I hope i get some answers!

The second book in the War of Destiny series was good. Julia’s story has always had twists and turns, but this book took it to the next level. I was so not expecting the twists that occurred in this installment of the series. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author and continuing Julia’s story.

Totally Brilliant!! I loved this book from beginning to end full of action, love, werewolves, fated mates and moments that left me speechless. The story of what fate has in store when you are only the second son of an Alpha….Nolen was just that. Nolen was small and not as strong as his older brother Archer. When fate had other plans…Nolen is trained to become the new Alpha of the Rhyolite Pack and is determined to make his family and late brother proud. There are definite obstacles that try and hinder Nolen from becoming a successful Alpha….I was rooting for Nolen all the way from the training to his friendship with Sawyer and finding his mate.
This book was totally fantastic and highly recommended…I look forward to more books from this author!!
