This was the first book I read by this author and it was really really good! This story jumps right in and keeps you entranced and wanting to know what happens. Roxanne had some trauma she is still trying to process and Claudette may be just what she needs to help her heal. Really they need each other and they just click from the start. This story is definitely intense and I totally did not expect the ending! I literally gasped when secrets were revealed and just so surprised at the plot twist. Its definitely worth the read!

This is the first book I’ve read by S.F Benson. It’s the first book in the series and it’s sooo good. The fantasy and parallels are soo good. Dr. Death’s reign is killing everything there and will soon begin spreading to London. Evaline is determined to stop them…but it requires finding the Firestone. This is the 2nd book in the Casket Girls series by A.D. Brazeau. I definitely recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of all this author has to offer! Brazeau does it again with this wonderfully crafted tale of Greer, who finds herself in the Underworld; Thoren, who finds himself in New Orleans fighting bloodthirsty vampires; Desiree, who finds herself fighting alongside Thoren; and Jaxon, who finds himself fighting the urge to feed on the innocent. I absolutely love the way Brazeau weaves her characters together and she does this spectacularly well in Blood and Vengeance. I also love the way the authors moves her plot along and the twists and turns she throws in along the way. I also have to give a huge shout out to the person who designed the cover! I am in LOVE with the cover design! It drew me in just like the first one! I cannot wait for this series to continue! Definitely a series I recommend!

This is the second instalment to this series. Like the first I loved every second of it. While Greer is dealing with things in the underworld, this story focuses on Desiree and Theron. These two are dealing with the vampires still in New Orleans. A new vampire comes along to help, Jaxon. He wants to help rid them of all the bad vampires and learn how to survive without killing. Jaxon also has a witch, called the Mistress, that wants him back no matter the cost. I’m ready to see how this continues.

Wow! This book sucked me right in and I finished it in no time! A great intro book to a new series. Evaline is a headstrong female who knows what she wants and isn’t going to stop until she gets it. I can’t wait to see what happens next with her and the strange world of Londinium. Also what an amazing use of vocabulary in this book! It’s not often I read books where I have to look up what words mean.. I absolutely loved it!

This is the first book I have read by S.F. Benson. It’s very dark which is why I was drawn to read it. I love reading about paranormal things as well as fantasy. Danger, adventure, family, magic is just part of what see in this series, these are all things that I love about books like this. I can’t wait to read more of this series and her other stories as well. I am fascinated by S.F. Benson and her imagination that she allows us to enter into. This was a delightful book it had me hooked from the first page. The characters are well and strongly written and I can relate to Roxanne’s tragedy. This is an emotional, magical, loss. I just loved the plot and the description of their surroundings I could imagine myself there. Roxanne Ferris is suffering from a great tragedy and she takes a summer job as a caregiver to bestselling author Claudette Grayson. The ailing 93-year-old woman doesn’t have long to live but wants to spend the rest of her days in the house she’s fond of.
Claudette recognized Roxanne is an old soul and they bond over delightful stories and fictional characters that feel so real. These women use these stories to escape tragic memories. This was my first book by S.F. Benson so I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to. But I loved it! I love strong female main characters and always a huge fan of any type of magic/paranormal story. I also love when an author makes an old childhood fairytale, like Alice in Wonderland, into something more dark and twisted. This is a must read for sure but it leaves you craving the next book!

Very impressed with the second installment in this vampire series. It’s now 70 years later, yet danger still looms. Loving the pace of this book. It was a little quicker, but it really didn’t lack anywhere, and easily keeps the reader engaged. This author brings her characters to life, and you can tell she is very passionate about her writings. I would strongly suggest reading these in order, as they aren’t really standalone novels. I can’t wait to see how Julia develops with time in the next installment.

Paranormal mystery and otherworldly Intriguing tale filled with adventure, mystery and magic. It’s almost like Through the Looking Glass meets Narnia. The storyline is unique and well executed. Evaline finds herself in another world which is on the brink of death and must endure trials to defeat Doctor Death. This looks to be the start of a wonderful series.

This second installment in the War of Destiny series is just as great as the first. While many years have passed between the books, the time is nothing for the vampires in Julia’s ka-tet. Julia is considered a young vampire, as it’s been less than a century since she had been changed. For me, this book was a lot more emotional than the first book. I felt like, even though Julia had gone through a lot in her human life, she experiences more heartache and challenges in Pursuit into Darkness. The reader learns more about the Resistance leader, Samuel, who turned Julia. Things start to hear up between the Resistance and the evil vampire, Valentino. This book reads just as fast as the first book and I cannot wait to get started on the next book in the series!

It took me a while to get into this book, not due to the book itself but because of life events. But, once I was able to focus more on the book, it took me less than 2 days! What a great read! The characters are so well-developed and believable! The author did a great job describing the relationship between the members of the ka-tet. Julia’s strength through so many terrible circumstances is truly exceptional. Not only is this kind of a period piece (as it’s set in the 1500s), but it’s a journey of Julia’s transformation into a vampire and her discovery of the world in this new light. I devoured the description of the world in 1500s England as well as the world of the vampires. Definitely a must read for anyone who loves tales involving the creatures of the night! I can’t wait to read the rest in this War of Destiny series.

Book 2 in the series did not disappoint! I definitely recommend reading this series in order as book 2 picks up 70 years later as Julia continues to live and learn her abilities as being part of the Ka-tet. Julia and Samuel decide to flee when a strong vampire being like Valentino shows up and tries to take them all down. When plans do not go the way they should, all Julia can do is fight back ….but will Samuel and Julia be able to match up against the powerful Valentino?
Gripping and at the edge of my seat!! Twists, turns and power…..sum up to one great story!! Cannot wait until Book 3!! This series continues to be fantastic!!

After completely betraying the ones she loves to the Vampire King Valentino, Julia is ostracized and thought insane from apparitions only she could experience. While she tries hard to fix her broken relationships, a sudden disappearance forces her to seek help from a once close friend, and ka-tet member Matthew. His hostility towards her is apparent but the danger they are facing will force them to put their differences aside to figure out what is happening to Destiny Itself. I loved this installment! This series just gets better and better and is able to build on itself so much! It was so emotional there were parts that had me in tears! A very realistic show of depression and what one needs to get through it. Julia is by far my favorite character and her struggles feel so real to me and so relatable. Spankeren did such a good job developing her characters and her world. I cannot say enough about this series! It’s unique, gripping, emotional and creates a world you just get sucked into. I highly recommend it! I know I will be reading the next book ASAP!

This book had me from the first page! I was blown away by the details and the authors ability to keep me enthralled! I loved the characters, and loved the world she created even more. This is the second book in the series, and takes place over half a century after the last. The book seems to be written in partial modern vernacular, and then switches to “Ye Olde” vernacular, almost inconsistently which leads to some strange phrases that I WILL be using in my everyday life. The author does leave the book on a good cliffhanger, which means I will be reading the next book to find out what happens to Julia next!

This is the first by this author I’ve read. The synopsis looked promising, especially since I’m a sucker for vampire novels. However, I was a tad bit disappointed. The first 25% of this book (I read mainly on Kindle) is mostly the story of how the main character is domestically abused by her husband. As a survivor of abuse, I wasn’t expecting it to be that intense, or have such a strong focus so early in the book. There is also the violent death of a child. If there was a content warning, I didn’t see it, so if you’re reading reviews before reading the book, this is the content warning. To me, the writing felt way like there was too much dialog- and the descriptive sentences around for the setting and plot seemed dry and rushed. While that might be great for some people, it wasn’t for me. It is a quick read though, I finished this in the few hours of downtime I had before work. However, I did like that the MC got her vengeance at the end, and started to heal from the crap that happened to her in the beginning. There’s also a bit of a love triangle, with a bit of slow burn romance at the end. I am looking forward to the second book, and I’m ready to see how the main character’s story develops throughout the series!

It is the year 1582 when Julia returns and it is seventy years since we last heard from her, she is passing the time learning from Samuel and the rest of the resistance fighters she agreed to help as part of the deal of her living within Samuel’s group, her ka-tet. It has been a peaceful time and she has grown to love and care for those she is living with and they have carved out a place in the society around them, but all that changes with the arrival of Valentino, he is a long term enemy of Samuel and has intended on hurting him and the Resistance he leads for a long time.
Samuel knows that Julia and the rest of the ka-tet are nowhere near strong enough to face Valentino between Julia being a mere fledgling as well as some of the others who aren’t in much better situation, so Julia reluctantly agrees to flee to safety before the Vampire King can get to her, this however, doesn’t go to plan!
As they escape, it becomes clear that fighting is inevitable ans Julia throws herself into the fray to protect those around her, but their ka-tet is in more danger than ever as attacks come from all around them, but will they be able to stick to their plan, or is the danger too great? This is an emotional rollercoaster of a fight where good and evil cover a lot of grey areas, danger lies around every corner and relationships are in jeopardy for both internal and external forces. This is a sequel which will keep you hooked from the start and keep you on the edge of your seat throughout.

What an amazing series so far! Julia is such a complex character. Having a very difficult time dealing with loss and memories of the past. I want so much for her to have a great future. In this story she struggles with visions, more loss and decisions about who she is. I can’t wait to read the third book to find out what happens next!

Second book of the Casket Girls, this story focuses on the events following the first book that introduced the circumstances leading the girls from their lives in France to the current ones in New Orleans. In this story, we’re taken through Desiree’s part. Desiree and Theron work together to track and hunt the remaining vampires that fed on the girls in the first book. Of course, then Jaxon, one of the vampires, and things become even more intriguing. It was fascinating to read and see the development of the characters from the first book to this second one, as well as the introduction of the new ones. I loved how, though each of the books have focused on different couples, the storyline remains strong and is wonderfully shown from book to book!

Her writing style and use of language really made me feel like I was transported into her world. Spankerens’s characters are well thought out and developed. I really liked seeing that this book took place 70 years later, and how Julia and Adam were doing. This Fast paced second installment is packed with plenty of action, adventure, vampire politics, and a little blood, with twists you’ll never see coming. I cannot wait to sink my teeth into book 3, Between Darkness and Light!

This second book continues to be an interesting take on the vampire lore. The characters are well developed and the plot makes sense. I read the first one so I appreciated the continuation. I look forward to seeing where it goes next. The author does a good job keeping you hooked in.

I love reading books that are unique retellings of stories that I love, especially fairytale-type stories. This is an imaginative book with Alice in Wonderland vibes that hooked me with magic, mystery, and mayhem. I found myself wanting to know what the characters would do next and felt very invested in the main female character. This was the first book I read by this author and I look forward to reading more. I found this to be an easy, enjoyable read.

I have been eyeballing this book for awhile as I saw it popping up all over my recommendations. I finally was intrigued enough to fall back down into the werewolf alpha rabbit hole. It’s very easy for me to get sucked into the werewolf genre and I have to force myself to take a break and move on to a new genre. However, this story just sucked me back in and I think this binge is going to be a long one!
What’s not to love about this plot line? A bullied second son, deemed nerdy and insignificant to his pack. Suddenly thrust into a position of power and the great responsibility that comes with it (Yes, I channeled my inner Spider Man spirit for that, thank you Uncle Ben!). Nolen, said second son, is sent away to train while learning how to fulfill his new role. He is determined to gain the respect of his pack and be the protector and provider he knows he can be. His journey along the way brings new people into his life and a new perspective. Of course, old enemies arise and Nolen is forced to put his words into actions. It’s a great journey to follow. I won’t spoil it all but I will tell you, read it now! You won’t regret it!

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I loved every minute of it. This is the first book In the All things Dark & Deadly series by S. F. Benson. The authors writing is very intriguing and I was immediately pulled into the authors world. This is an intriguing fantasy with paranormal elements, a mirror/parallel world, a quest, action, adventure, danger, agendas, a sinister adversary, magic, family, loss, heartache, and much more. I’m excited to see what this author does with this series in the near future

This author has yet to disappoint me with her stories! Enchanted is the right word for the journey you go on as you read page after page. Roxanne is healing from something tragic in her life when she becomes a caretaker for a famous author, Claudette Grayson. Claudette doesn’t like the idea of someone telling her what to do, so they find some common ground. When they bond over books and stories, it is just the distraction Roxanne needs. When mysterious things start happening around the house, including one of the book characters appearing to Roxanne, she finds herself questioning everything.
This book was quite an adventure! I loved the depth and emotion of the characters. I really connected to Roxanne and her life. This author has a way of intertwining enchantment, supernatural and real life. There is no feeling like getting completely engrossed in a beautiful story. Lastly, I just want to add that WOW, that twist threw me for a loop!! It is not often that I can not predict the ending to a book, but this one I definitely did not see coming.
