First of the cover is hot! Such a great book. You seem internal term-oil, struggle, realization, heartache, and so much more. The spark that ignites their passion could burn them with the truth Tim is withholding. I couldn’t put it down once I started. Hot, steamy, and so much passion. You want to root for them. The author really has a great writing style like not a lot that I have seen. Once you start the book you will never want to stop. It’s a read again book and a read again series. Is there more because I definitely want more. Great book!!!!

Fletcher- Review by Samantha Scannell
I loved this story. Michael’s Heart shows what kind of heart the author, Harrington, has.
“…no matter how full of love a person’s heart was, there was always room for more.” This is how I feel after reading this story. A much fuller heart!
The characters are fairly well developed. We are given just enough of their feelings, their pasts, their concerns and opinions to see how important Colbie and Michael’s messages really are.
“It’s the ordinary that makes life worth living.”
Many people feel they need someone else to make them whole, to inspire them. When really each person, man and woman, has that strength deep inside themselves. Harrington could see that in Colbie too.
“It was scary at first until she realized she actually could do it alone with no assistance.”
Being able to read and “see” a character’s actual growth through-out the story means the author has done a fantastic job! Way to go Harrington!
The entire story touches on many different real issues, teen pregnancy, abortion, adoption, fertility issues, even spiritual beliefs and death. Definitely worth the read! A little advice though, do not read this book in public…only read it next to a box of tissues!

Love, Christmas – Movies You Love (The Holiday Series Book 2) by Various Authors
5 Stars!!!!!
When you just want to get lost in romance this is the anthology for you. I love the fact that there are so many authors and a wide variation of stories. I like the fact that there are so many new authors as well. I know that this is a group of books that I will be able to read again and again.
I would like to highlight my three favorite stories starting with my most favorite A Royal White Christmas by by Leanne Banks. This was such a sweet romance. It is the typical love at first sight that just grabs your heartstrings and has you routing for the girl to get her guy. I like how the author kept the air of mystery surrounding Brice till just near the end.
The instant chemistry between Brice and Holly is endearing. Sometimes the typical mushy romance is just what one needs and this book totally filled that need for me. I really like how the author was able to make Brice make Brice accessible and not your typical royal. I found that the author had a nice writing style and a very creative way of bringing the characters to life. I definitely will be reading this one again and again.
My second favorite was Jingle with my Princess by Mona Risk. This book had quite a complex plot to it. There were parts of the past of the characters that really played a big part to the whole story line. The past between Amy, Paul and Scott really created the people that they had become. I like that Scott really gets to get through his hurts of the past.
The chemistry that develops between Scott and Charlene is quite refreshing. The fact that she is the balm that heals his wounds and helps him to come to terms with his past is the best part. The fact that in the end Scott and Paul sort their differences and Paul realizes that there is no reason to be jealous really added a realism to this story. I was really drawn to Charlene’s character as I felt I could relate to her in some ways. I like how she was able to see through Scott’s faults and checked the facts before she threw away her chance with Scott. She was able to see that Amy although her sister in law had a flawed view and by taking a look from the outside she saw that in fact Scott was misunderstood and I was ever so glad when she gave him a chance. I will definitely be reading this book again and again as well.
My third favorite was Her Mr. Miracle by Donna Fasano. This is another one of those you can’t always be prepared for the love bug stories. I like how the author is able to bring the characters to life. I really got into this story as if it was happening to me.
The complexity between Ronnie and Adam is quite refreshing. She has her complex life she is trying to escape from and he has his own problems to deal with. It’s a two peas in a pod sentiment. They are totally made for one another. I like how the author brings in just enough drama to the story line . There is a point just at the end where I was just banging my head cause you knew that Adam would make things more complex than they should have been and I could feel my heart drop as I am sure Ronnie’s would have. Then getting to near the end when in typical guy fashion he almost makes a complete mess of it all but alas the day is saved. I know that again this is another book I will read again and again.
There were so many books in this collection and I know that I will enjoy them all again and again. This is the perfect set for the cold long nights ahead not just for Christmas. I am so glad that this has many new authors for me and that it is a varied collection of story themes. This is a definite must read!

5 Star Redemption : An Ash Park Novel (Volume 5) By Meghan O’Flynn is the fifth book in the An Ash Park series. I’m in complete shock and speechless. Holy Cow!This series has pretty much ruined me for any other thriller series. Just when I thought this series couldn’t get any better, bam it does.I loved this entire series and will definitely be rereading this series at some point. All I have to say is if you haven’t started this series do it now!I promise you won’t regret it. This nail biting book wow!Definitely some twists and turns that had me biting my nails while on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going to happen next. Once I started reading there was really no putting it down. Detective Petrosky is my favorite character and in this story he’s fighting not just his demons with his daughter but also this case that is haunting him. Want to find out what happens? I highly recommend reading this book, heck the whole series. I can’t wait to see what this Author brings us next! @ddaugh35

Love Christmas (Movies You Love 2) by Various Authors. This is a wonderful collection of books all situated around Christmas. They range from short to medium length books. A few of my favorites were A Wonderful Life by Mimi Barbour. Its the story of Noel Bradford who has hit a rough patch in life and almost takes his own life. While he is in the town where his family’s company is he meets a girl named Mary who runs a non profit called “In Need of Help”. Another favorite was A Royal White Christmas by Leanne Banks, the story of Holly Lawrence and Brice who is a Prince in training. They meet over Holly’s brothers lost dog and sparks fly. I also really liked Brianna’s Season for Miracles by Joan Reeves. Its the story of a girl named Brianna and her father she feels like she’s disappointed her whole life. She goes home for Christmas and falls in love with one of her dads workers all while trying to reconcile with her father. These books are so good and full of Christmas spirit. Just the right books to get you in the Holiday mood.

My Hidden Life is the Brothers of Camelot series prequel and the first book in My Life series by Necie Navone. I was really taken with the first book in the Brothers of Camelot, and as a prequel, this is such a fantastic addition to the storyline and ‘bigger picture’ that Ms. Navone is painting. After the tantalizing snippet that we got at the end of ‘The Only One’, this book has only heightened my interest, even more than it already was. I practically inhaled this book, zipping through it in one sitting because I was desperate to find out what happens, who the elusive Aless was, and how she and Greyson meet. Well this book is far more complex than I had imagined. Yes, I did get some of my answers, but I also got more of Aless’s compelling story- because this book starts from Aless’s early years and works its way through to her later teen years. Alessandra Canzano was born into an Italian crime family, the only child of the powerful and ruthless Capo (boss). She is their Princess, treated as royalty and living a fairytale life- until her sixth birthday when danger makes itself known, changing her life forever. Her father had big plans for her right from the moment she was born, but after the events at her sixth birthday, he becomes even more controlling and obsessive. Alessandra’s beloved Uncle was tasked with training her, as he would one of the men. From the age of six she learnt hand to hand combat, then at eight she began weapons training as well. She was to tell no one of her training, or the reasons behind it. She was to keep that part of her life hidden from her mother, grandmother, family and friends. Aless soon became one of the best fighters in ‘the family’, easily able to out shoot and defeat any of the men in hand to hand combat. But she was also learning a lot more about her family, their business, and the role in it all. She feels the heavy burden of responsibility and expectation, wishing she could just live a normal life. She has one brief encounter with a boy that stays with her long after he’s gone. Holding that moment in her heart and dreaming of a life with someone who loves her passionately. Although she may be the family Princess, she feels more like a prisoner. The more she learns, the more she questions whether she can be a part of that world anymore. She starts to wonder if she would be better off running away and leaving it all behind. With danger an ever-present part of her life, Aless will have to remain vigilant. She is determined to find a way to avoid what her father has planned. But what can she do? Will she have no choice but to buckle under the pressure to preform to his expectations? What exactly does her father have planned for her? What does she uncover along the way? Where does Greyson fit into all of this? Does she end up staying because she’s afraid of losing everyone she loves? O will she finally escape her gilded prison? What does her future hold? While we do get some of those answers in this exciting instalment, there is still a lot to uncover in the next book, “My Tragic Life”- which I have already devoured, because I just couldn’t wait to continue Alessandra’s story. Shocks, twists, tragedy, lessons and more await Aless. Ms. Navone is a wonderful storyteller, weaving a superb story that plucked at my heart strings, had me on the edge of my seat most of the time- whilst also creating characters who came to life, pulling me into their world and holding my attention right through till the end. The story is told from several POV’s which gave the story an extra element of interest. There was a lot going on in this book, lots of action, suspense, some violence, emotion, drama, and just a drop of romance. Brilliant!

What a great book! I felt really connected to these characters in a way I haven’t in a long time. You really get to know them and see them for who they are and I liked how real they felt. When a supermodel and a singer cross paths the last thing they expect is the sparks. I mean who wouldn’t want that with a sexy male model but these lit my kindle on fire. I couldn’t put this book down until I got to the end, life went on with this book in my hands for a whole day!

“It’s the blood they shed for the Family, and the devotion they’ve shown that makes them Family.” That is an interesting definition of family by choice vs family of origin. This story is about THE Family (always with a capital F), more specifically about the Princess of the Family and how she grows up.
I know I read about this character in the first book of the “Camelot Series” but it’s been a few books since I’ve read the story and I can’t remember the part she plays. This is her origin story.
The first part of a trilogy, MY HIDDEN LIFE is written in great detail from the protagonist’s 6th bday to her 15th. It is a story that shows the growth, both physically and mentally, of Aless as she moves through her childhood. The secondary characters all play a large role and the story is easy to follow along.
I am so so grateful that I have parts two and three of the trilogy downloaded so I can continue with the story .

Redemption was a thrilling 5 star read and book 5 in the Ash Park series. I was so excited to get my hands on this book to see how the series ended and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
I really enjoy books that have me trying to figure out things as I’m reading, only to be thrown way off base. There were several twists and turns that added great elements to the story. We continue with Detective Petrosky and the cases he is working on. Could there be a connection between them? Will he finally solve his daughters murder?
I don’t want to give anything away about this great read so be prepared for an intense read that will leave you emotionally spent. Meghan does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. All of the secondary characters were great. It was great how everything tied together in this series finale. I highly suggest reading all of the books in the series before this one.Beware that there are some scenes in the series that could be triggers for some. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Calling the Curveball: A Lawson Family Novel by Tracey Cramer-Kelly was a emotional, heart warming, hot read that got me right in the feels and, had me hooked from start to finish.
My first read by this author, I went in with a opened mind. Mostly because I wasn’t quite sure about this one. I was proven wrong (I love when that happens), this book had everything I love about cheesy, quick, hot romances and so much more.
This is that second chance style romance book. Both parties, have been hurt; one is riddled with guilt, the other, recovering from a divorce. Both aren’t really looking but that’s when things always happen. I have to say I liked the way our female MC took the lead, it was a nice change from other romance were the over barring alpha male, is the instigator in the relationship, or in starting one. That was refreshing and, hell, it was super fun to read about. I had a big old gin, cause Jamie was taken so back that it was freaking awesomely epic.
As for our MC’s. Well, they were something. But for me Jamie had the most character development. For him it was about overcoming the survivor guilt and learning that he wasn’t at fault for that tragic night. Having Kira help him through that, and him for her, was special. I was rooting for them from the start.
And that’s where I’m going to leave you, as this is a shorter read, I don’t want to let anything slip and spoil this wonderful read. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will have a time reading about these two broken souls, finding love and hope again.

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn was a pretty okay read, considering I didn’t read the other books. I was captured right away, and with the way this book is written, and how well, it stand on its one.
So yeah, me being me, and unable to read series in order, I’m starting at the end. As I said with the way this book is written, it stands on it own two feet. And though I didn’t get to know the key characters backstories, with that first opening chapter alone, I got everything I needed, and even though I didn’t have a connection from the other books, it was a heart breaking scene.
Going into this book, I have to say I loved the way it was written. Very smooth, consistent, and it had this lightness to it that was weirdly soothing, and just pulled me into this story. Soren, poor guy, I really felt for him. I mean that opening chapter, was a slap in the face. But man the character development for him, was massive. From that first meeting till the last, you could say dropping everything, was the best thing he ever did. Nice clean slate.
Elena, she was the perfect match for him, and because I didn’t have any lingering attachments to Angela, I quickly started rooting for her and Soren. She also brought some drama, hot sass and of course, a lingering mystery from a chapter in her life, she didn’t want to repeat. It added that something extra that rounded out the story.
This book was great and as I’ve said, I very much enjoyed it. True I should have read the other books, and I do suggest you do as well, because Soren and Angela seemed to have had something special, and I don’t want you to miss out on that. What that said, please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will get swept away by this entertaining, engaging, heart melting read.

Format: Kindle Edition I give The Confectioner’s Exile: The Confectioner Chronicles Prequel Novella by Claire Luana, 4 stars.
Hale is a Member of a prominent family and has everything he could want – money, good looks, an easy life. His life isn’t perfect, but he quite likes it. But all of that is taken away in an instant. Events happen that leave him on the run with his family. Surviving and fending for himself is something has never had to do before. Part of him enjoys the adventure, but another part of him misses the easy life he had. Will he survive? What about his family? What will they do when they finally make it to safety?
I have read this author before, but this is the first book in the series that I have read. It was wonderful. I do not know yet what role Hale holds in the future books, but this novella tells his story well. It is quite interesting to see just how much Hale transforms. He was an arrogant, easy going man who loved the good life. But he is forced to change. The story itself pulls you in too. As this author does so well, it does not take too long for the action to start and does not relent until the end.
This is a young adult fantasy book, but really any age above YA would enjoy it. I highly recommend it.

The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher was a great whirlwind romantic love story. I loved the way Lauren and David met and how they just connected.
With as connected as they were they still had their issues in the relationship, self esteem or lack of can cause so many problems. I could imagine the level of insecurity Lauren was feeling while with David.
David with his sexy British accent to go with his incredibly sexy face and body. Whew, I do wonder if the image I got matches up with what anyone else came up with.
I have read a few other books by Ms. Fletcher and she has impressed me with her stories and writing. She is quickly becoming an author I keep an eye on to see if there is anything new.

Claire Luana did it again with The Confectioner Chronicles. She has created a world within that has food apart of the magic. Ms. Luana has a tendency to write her characters with the most love or hate with in her story. She likes to teach little lessons with in her book. I think that is why I am a follower of Ms. Luana. In this story she takes an upper class son Hale and makes him a lower class citizen, which to me says anything can happen and you need to be ready for it. Wren, who bakes desserts with luck inside it, finds herself without luck as she is accused of murder. There is no time for Wren to try solving this on her own. Throughout this story it is really fast paced and one needs to pay attention behind every twist and turn because there are clues and you do not want to miss them. The underlying theme I felt as a part of this story is trust and all the making of good desserts. I would love to find a bake shoppe that has magical desserts to help get out of situations that may be happening in my world. I would recommend reading this series as it is only going to get better.

Georgia Pine by KG Fletcher is the third book in her Southern Promises series and it just keeps getting better and better. Following the story of Jessica and Tim, you get to see these two characters grow closer and start a family together. Watching these characters throughout the series, from books one and two, you get to see the story being told from their eyes and how their lives have changed since coming together. Having fallen in love with Fletcher’s work from her previous series, and then loving the rest of this series, I knew that I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to read this one. While each of these books are written in a way that they could be read as a standalone, I totally recommend reading them in series order, Georgia Clay and Georgia on My Mind, as the characters really came alive for me across the books. If you are looking for a fantastic series that will take you in and never let go than this is the series for you!

Painting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes takes place in the oil rich land of Kuwait. Violet gets a job in Kuwait as a maid to help payoff er father’s debt. But it may not live up to everything she has expected. She sees and hears things going on that she questions what may be happening around her. She develops a relationship with Sabah Dashti who realizes that Violet knows a lot more about business, which helps develop a good relationship between the two. But things keep happening at the home of Sabah. Will they figure out what is going on and who is doing it?
The writing of Ms. Fernandes keeps you engaged and it is very realistic relating to what was going on in Kuwait during the time the story took place. It flows and is very descriptive. The characters are well developed and very believable. Painting Kuwait Violet is full of mystery and suspense and keeps you turning the page to see what will happen next. I am looking forward to reading more from Pamela Q. Fernandes.
The Confectioner’s Chronicles is a Young Adult genre series. However there are many YA series that as an adult I can say that this is one of my favorite genres. This particular book, The Confectioner’s Exile, is the prequel to The Confectioner’s Chronicles. Claire Luana did an amazing job setting up the character Hale. From upper class family, he did not have a want or a need for anything, but all of that changed. He went from upper class to lower class. He had to do what the common folk did for anything. He did not have good luck anymore either. He is adapting to his new role but for how long. I cannot wait to see what Claire Luana has instore for Hale.

The Confectioner’s Exile: The Confectioner Chronicles Prequel Novella By Claire Luana. This novella may be short but the author knows all the right ways to pack a punch even in fewer pages. Here we get some back story on Hale before he was with the Confectioner’s Guild. You see him grow after his perfect life comes crashing down. This novella is fast paced and filled with action. I wasn’t immediately drawn in but soon found my hook and then I couldn’t put it down so definitely give it a chance. The author is amazing with details and brings the story alive no matter how many pages it has. I’m excited to read more from this author. I’m giving this novella a four star review and recommend it.
The Confectioners Exile by Claire Luana is the prequel book in her The Confectioners Chronicles series. In this novella we get to see more into Hale’s backstory and the journey he went on before joining The Confectioners Guild. Although this book can be read as a stand-alone – it is a prequel after all – for me I felt that it was better to have read it in he order intended. It helped to give a better understanding of the overall story. I absolutely loved this book. I felt it added value to the series and was such an enjoyable read. Novellas aren’t usually my favourite kind of books and yet with this one it didn’t feel rushed or like anything was missing. The author successfully takes you on a journey separate to the main series while also adding to the main story. A great read and a series I would truly recommend.
This is the second book in A.E. Gamrat’s Bloom Duet Series. I would not read this one unless you have read “New Bloom” previously. That one really sets you up for this novel. In this installment Gamrat really focuses on the relationship between Gwen and her mother. We still see a real evolution of character with Gwen by the end of the novel but that comes about because of the storm that blows up all around her with her mother’s declining health. We also continue to see more of her and Kame. They are still going back and forth. Kame would in a heartbeat make her his. Gwen is still just not sure. She knows for sure a few things though… Her mother doesn’t approve, and he definitely has some secrets. With the chaos of her mother’s health the last thing she needs is a confusing and secretive man.
Holy cow the emotions in this book were real! As a mother, my heart broke, heck as a daughter it broke. As a woman that has been there and just wanted to find my place in a world that is just so very black and white sometimes, it broke for her. I just wanted to embrace Gwen so many times and tell her that eventually this too will pass like all storms do. Gamrat really has a knack for writing a realistic relationship and the complexities that come with it. Nothing about Gwen’s story was unbelievable, and that made this novel so completely immersive that I found myself extremely gripped. I couldn’t put this down and I honestly wanted more.
I truly enjoyed this duet. I found it to be a really accurate and great coming of age story. I myself feel like this is one I will be shelving to share with my daughter in the near future. I can’t wait to see what else is available from A.E. Gamrat, and what will come in the future. Thanks for a great read!
I was completely new to A.E. Gamrat when I first picked up “New Bloom”. I saw the absolutely gorgeous cover and just had to know what the story was that laid on the pages between them. I am so glad that I picked it up. I do have to say, it was a bit slow on the uptake at first. Once I did get into the story however, I was hooked and very grateful that the second book, “Eternal Bloom” is already available to read.
In “New Bloom” we are first introduced to Gwen. We really get the feel for her as she starts life after college. Before I really get into where this is a coming of age story and how she finds herself and her place in life I want to touch on another part of the story that really hit home with me. Ok here’s the deal, Gwen is an only child, but she also struggles with a lot of issues that an oldest child often deals with. I saw this struggle because I am the oldest daughter of three. I also saw her side of being an only child as I have just one daughter. We often tend to expect a lot of our single children as parents. Especially, those of us who wanted more, but were not able to for some reason or another. It is a struggle that I have faced a lot in my lifetime. I am not making excuses for the character her mother is. (She is a wreck and not very good with the motherly instinct. I was really struggling to not scream out loud at this woman several times.) However, I know that this is my only chance, my only time to experience motherhood and all its firsts. I won’t get a redo, or another go around. I could see where her mother was struggling with that and projecting it on her daughter throughout both of these novels. This was just as much of a strong prevalent story line in the novels as the coming of age story that was portrayed with Gwen.
With that said, this really sets the tone for things. Gwen has been groomed her whole life to be the prefect daughter. Now that she has graduated college that expectation really hasn’t changed, and she is now moving home to help out with her parents flower shop. Gwen is trying hard to find her own voice and balance her relationships. She is struggling to figure out how to do all of these things and still be everything to everyone. Then a new relationship is added to the mix when the mysterious and handsome Kame walks into the flower shop and her life one day. Something isn’t quite what it seems about him though… Watch out for that cliffhanger. Like I said though the second book, “Eternal Bloom”, is available now.
The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher is a fantastic heartwarming romantic story. I have now read several book by this author and they are fast becoming one of my favourites. Everything I’ve read of theirs so far, I have thoroughly enjoyed. Lauren Rose is a lounge singer in a bar in Atlanta. One evening after performing a very handsome man chats with her at the bar. He is in town for his sister’s wedding. The 2 hit it off instantly and he is drawn to her in a way he has never known before. On impulse, he invites her to be his date for the wedding. It turns out that he is David Randle, top male supermodel. The chemistry between Lauren and David is electric and they quickly realise that what they feel could really become something special. However, there is the fact that he is a top model in the UK and she lives in Atlanta. Added to the mix is David’s assistant who will do everything possible to break the couple up. I absolutely loved the characters of Lauren and David. It was obvious immediately to me that the author’s muse for David was British supermodel David Gandy. Well, that’s because I’m a huge fan of him. It was certainly no problem in picturing him in my head while reading this story. With everything that seemed to be in the way to stop Lauren and David having their happily ever after, I was rooting for them from the very beginning. These 2 needed each other in their lives. I would urge anyone to read this book. You will not be disappointed.

Painting Kuwait Violet is beautifully written by Pamela Q. Fernandes. In this story there is a little bit of history, some life lessons, and new culture to some. I did not know what I was expecting when I picked this book, but I got more than what I was expecting. From her bio it says that she a doctor, author, and medical writer. Her spirituality plays a major role in her life. From reading Painting Kuwait, I could see Pamela Fernandes faith. This is a moving story about a woman, Violet and the Kuwait matriarch Sabah who is her employer. See Violet Is working as a maid and some evil doings happen in the house of Sabah. There becomes a bond between Violet and Sabah that many cannot stand because of the simple fact that they are women. This story is a moving story that engulfed me from the beginning. This story also let me think about the placement of a woman and what they should do compared to what they want to do. I recommend all women take the time and read this story. You will look at your world differently as that is what happened to me.
Small Town Hero is the first book in the Small Town Brides Series by Kim Koby. This is my first read of Ms. Koby’s, so I really didn’t know what to expect from her as a storyteller, or writer. But the blurb sounded intriguing and the cover was sweet, so I decided to jump on in. What I discovered was a lovely, sweet, clean, and romantic story about love, loss, betrayal, second chances, opposites attract, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Rebecca had her future all planned out, or so she thought. All that comes crashing down when she discovers her fiancé in bed with her best friend. So much for happily-ever-after, or friendship. This betrayal is what sees her in Tennessee, stranded, where she has to rely the kindness of a stranger. What she doesn’t realise is this moment will change her life in more ways than she could have imagined. Ryan is a local firefighter, who too knows the sting of heartache. These two are total opposites, but you know how the old saying goes. Even though they clash, there is still a connection that neither can deny. What happens when the city girl with expensive taste meets this down-to-earth small-town hero? You’ll need to read the book to find out. The story was a little predictable, but that didn’t really detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the book. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to connect with Rebecca as she seemed quite shallow to begin with, but she won me over in the end. These two had a great connection and I loved their banter, I just wish the story had a bit more complexity, but that’s just my taste, and I know that there are others who prefer there stories to be sweet and uncomplicated- but it just slightly missed the mark for me. I can appreciate it for what it is though- a lovely, romantic story.

Painting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q.Fernandes 4 Stars
This story takes place in Kuwait, in a patriarchal culture where women are second class citizens and their hired help have no rights. Men have all the power and mistreat and manipulate women as if they were mere possessions. This is the world that Violet finds herself stuck in. After her father’s death, she realizes that her family has too many debts that need to be paid off. Though educated with a bachelors degree in finance, she cannot find a job. She must demean herself and work as a maid for the Dashti family in Kuwait.
Life is difficult for her at first but she overcomes obstacles and forms an interesting friendship with her boss Sabah Dashti. Sabah is lucky to have Violet in her life for she helps Sabah with her daughter Aliya and gives her sound advice for her business. This is what I enjoyed most about the book. Watching the relationship grow between Sabah and Violet. What started out as a boss and hired help turned into a friendship of trust and respect.
There was a second storyline with a misogynistic, sadistic man who thrilled in preying on the maids. It added tension and drama to the story. Both storylines were good, I just wish the author would have concentrated on one. Either one would have made an excellent story; having both I felt took a bit away from each.
To be honest, I was hesitant to read this book mainly because of the culture it takes place in. It angers me that men feel they have the right to believe that women are lower than they are. This ended up being a poignant story that had my heart reaching out to not only Violet but the rest of the women in the story. Although the book didn’t end the way I would have liked, I really enjoyed the book.
This is a Young Adult story that is part of The Confectioner Chronicles by this author. In this book we get to see Hale’s story before he entered the Confectioner Guild. He is someone who had it all when one night changed everything for him. Now he is on the run for his life but will he be able to talk his way to safety? This is a journey of twists and turns which keep you reading until the last page. I highly recommend this book and see Hale’s story first hand.
Aviva Vaughn has graced us with another wonderful installment in the ‘Beckoned’ series, this time she deviates from the norm and tells us what happened to Soren after he left Angela’s book party in Los Angeles. Obviously, this is the fifth book in the series and it would be best to read all four previous books to get a better idea about who Soren is and what brought him to Costa Rica. Of all the places I pictured Soren escaping to, Costa Rica was nowhere close to on my list, but Aviva Vaughn has surprised me in the best way with sending Soren there and showing us a side to him I didn’t think existed. This Soren has grown and changed in so many good ways and the tiny tropical town he ends up in somehow fits him beautifully. One of my favorite parts of Aviva Vaughn’s books is the scenery and this book doesn’t disappoint! Costa Rica sounds like such a magical place and Aviva Vaughn does such an incredible job of describing every detail to make the reader feel like they are right there with Soren. My other favorite part of her books is all the cooking and wonderful foods she describes! So, when Soren meets the locals and starts to learn about the cuisine, I got so excited! It was nice to read about Soren and his adventure, so I can’t wait to read “Beckoned, Part 6: Adrift in New Zealand!!” I give this book 5 stars, obviously!

Georgia Pine by K.G. Fletcher a four-star read that will make you pine. This is the third book in the Southern Promise series this can be read as stand-alone, but I have enjoyed the whole series. Jessica has been through some tough times and she is really a strong character to stand up to it all, we watch as she starts a little lost but comes through in the best way to become a woman you will want in your life. This author has a way with words that creates chemistry on the page that light up even the darkest of circumstances.

Painting Kuwait Violet is written by author Pamela Q. Fernandes. This is an intriguing and suspenseful read and one that makes a change from the usual books I usually read. It did take me a while to connect to this read, and the characters but as the story progresses and the story gets more developed I began to really enjoy the read!
This author has a very intriguing and engaging writing style. She has created some inspiring and strong characters especially Violet. This was an eye-opening read that I didn’t expect to be as captivating as it was. Most of the time I was on the edge of my seat wondering what could happen next. This read is full of mystery, danger, suspense and packed full of action. I loved reading the description of Kuwait, I could mentally visualise everything I read which made it that much mor enjoyable. There was some dark twists and turns within the book, such as theft, assault and many more but it added to depth of this book. It was great to see the friendship blossom between two unlikely people in Violet & Sabah, but it helped both of them in certain ways.
For this being a read I wouldn’t normally read, it was surprised how much I enjoyed it and was compelled to read it and the characters stories. It’s a read that should be experienced by all.
Wow! What an action packed, emotional story!! I loved it…then I was irritated at certain characters then I was surprised and shocked. This book covers a wide gambit of emotions but never doubt how much I enjoy reading this book. Immensely! This picks up nicely where the last story left off. I would highly recommend reading book 1 (Can’t Remember) before enjoying this one. You would get the full feel of the story.
I have to say in the first book I was frustrated in who ended up with who. I really felt Finn and Beta (Elizabeth) should have been together. So with that being said i struggled with the idea of Marin and Beta. As the story moves forward I really saw the devotion between Elizabeth (Beta) and Marin. Their love felt deep in this story. So that made me feel better. Finn…this guy…he doesn’t give up easily. He wants Beta (Elizabeth). Elizabeth (Beta) loves Marin and Marin loves her. Love triangle at its best! I root for Finn because of the way Marin is acting but then Finn acts like a jerk and Marin is back in my favor. Although Marin frustrates me a couple times in this story. How Elizabeth (Beta) can choose keeps me perplexed.
We get to see some of the old characters (Yay!) but then meet a slew of new ones ( boo-Zara) as well. They all help the story along without overtaking the spotlight away from the main characters. We are finding out more and more about Elizabeth (Beta).
I enjoyed this book immensely! Drama and action filled this book and kept me easily entertained. I am eagerly awaiting the next in the series. I need to find out!
