New book – fun read! Christian and Gabriella jumped off the page and their emotions were high and vivid. You felt every single thing quite clearly and I really enjoyed watching the relationship evolve, so to speak. A very quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely recommended reading for romance lovers.

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Karyn Taylor

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In Other Words is the first book in the Boothbay Harbor Series by Pamela Q Fernandes. I had previously read Bowled by this author and loved it so was happy to read this book also. I have to say that I really loved this book. It’s very different from Bowled but both are excellent reads.
Trish Holt is a pianist who has serious abandonment issues. She was adopted at a young age and was treated badly by her adoptive parents, more so when they had a biological child of her own. All Trish wants is to be loved. She has recently been dumped by her boyfriend of 3 years who has been having a relationship with her manager.
Michael Quentin is a top class chef. His sister is recently widowed and he is helping bring up his niece Hannah. He loves women but is a once and done kinda guy, certainly not relationship material. So when he lets Trish move into his sister’s house and gives her a gig at his restaurant playing piano, why can’t he get her out of his head.
Trish and Michael couldn’t be any more opposite if they tried. She’s desperate for someone to love her for the rest of her life. Michael doesn’t believe in love.
This is an amazing story depicting the conflict going through Michael’s head and the desperation faced by Trish. The interactions between the 2 of them are amazing to read, the sexual chemistry is off the chart and their sexual encounters are particularly steamy.
Will Michael realise that Trish is the best thing to happen to him or will he push her away? This book is definitely well worth a read.

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh – Review by Angela Hayes

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate StoryKing & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Hunt,” Gabby greeted briskly.
It was clear by her tone she meant Hunt with a C.
“You promised,” Amy warned.
“What?” Gabby asked innocently. “Happy Birthday, Hunt.”
“Thanks, Gobby.”
Christian smiled at the twitch above her right eye, knowing he had scored another blow. He hated the way she called him Hunt. Everyone knew what she was really calling him. What bugged him the most was that over the years, she had somehow managed to make him hate his own last name.
He couldn’t stand Gabriella King.
….Even though he’d promised Amy to be on his best behaviour, he knew he would take any opportunity that presented itself to p*ss the woman off.

King & Hunt: A Lust/Hate Story by Brienne Dubh is a quick, easy enemies to lovers’ story, and made for a fun read.
The insults, barbs, quips, and verbal jousting between Christian and Gabriella, came quick and fast. There is no love lost between the two, no matter how sexy they may think the other is- they can’t stand each other. Can they? In any other situation, they could probably just avoid each other indefinitely- but Gabriella is Christian’s sisters’ best friend. Making their situation even more complicated. But what happens when they call a truce? And what about the “lusty” part of this book’s title? Well, you will just have to read “King & Hunt” and discover all the steamy details for yourself.
This story is definitely entertaining.
I wonder what Brienne Dubh has in store for us next?

Thank you, Brienne Dubh!

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh was a steamy short read. I finished this book in one sitting. It was addictive. Christian Hunt and Gabby King were enemies. They hated each other but put up with each other for Gabby’s best friend, Christian’s sister, Amy. After a run in with Gabby’s ex, and several drinks, something occurs that brings the two into a steamy set of events. The two can’t get enough of each other.

The storyline was fast paced and easy to read. I laughed several times while reading. I also loved the steamy scenes. This book was an excellent read that left me smiling at the end. I highly recommend it.

I loved reading the story King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh. It is a book that pulled me in right away and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Christian Hunt and Gabriella King. Gabriella is strong, independent, sassy, and stubborn. One thing is for sure, she has a hate relationship with Christian. Christian is a man who never misses out on making a snide remark when it comes to Gabriella. A temporary truce was called, and an unplanned gesture has both of them questioning themselves. What does the future hold for Christian and Gabriella? Will the lust that they feel override their feelings of hate? Has their chemistry changed from hate to something more? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me smiling and laughing out loud at the jabs that Gabriella and Christian throw at each other. There are also romantic moments that make the temperature in the room rise. This is a book that has a wonderful storyline and amazing characters. Don’t miss out on reading it. Highly recommended.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I was pulled in right from the beginning and was kept engaged until the last page. This is a short story that is packed full of romance and steam. Christian and Gabrella have had a hate relationship forever until one day when they called a truce. What will happen when unexpected feelings start? Will they be able to go back to the way things were or will they let fate take over? They are great characters that bring the story to life. I enjoyed watching their relationship change and the struggles they go through. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what happens.

Christian Hunt and Gabriella King, have hated each other ever since they met back in collage. Over the years things have only gotten progressively worse, as they’ve let each other know exactly how much they really hate one another. The bad blood between them has put Gabby’s best friend, Amy, in an uncomfortable position as she also happens to be Christian’s sister. But when Amy has enough of her brother and best friend fighting, a temporary truce is called. When a spur of the moment gesture brings out an unexpected reaction, seeing a different side makes it harder for them to go back to the hate they’ve always known. Gabby is determined to hold out and find her way back to hate, while the unusually confident Christian is left unsure of what he should do and how to feel. As the line between lust and hate begins to blur, neither can predict where this journey will lead them, or if it’s worth being on the wrong side of the line when their crazy ride comes to its end.

I love reading books by this author, I think that she has a lovely writing style and I am always transported to the places she is describing and into the lives of the characters who she is writing about. In Other Words was a story that had me turning the pages super-fast just so I could see what was going to happen next. It was full of angst and the characters had some complexities to their lives that made the story great to read. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted this couple to be together or not, I think that Michael was everything Trish didn’t need in her life considering her past relationship. The author really delved into the lives of these characters with an emotional tale and one that I really enjoyed reading – I felt like I was really involved in what was going on in the story!
As always I look forward to reading more from this author again and I highly recommend In Other Words to other readers!

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Runaround: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy is the sixth book in the Carolina Connections by Sylvie Stewart.

It felt so good to catch up with the gang and see how everyone is doing and to meet new people. I love Lola! She was t at all what she seems at the beginning. Her personality comes out the better we get to know her and she’s a spunky one!

Jax needed to have his butt handed to him and thankfully it happened. I don’t understand why some guys are so dumb but they are and our job as women to educate them no matter the age of the female.

Ari is what I want my younger daughter to be like. Strong and independent, cautious with love but not so cautious she misses out on it. I love her Family and hope we see more if them in the future. (HINT, HINT!)

Loved this book and this series. Hope they don’t go anywhere anytime soon.

It’s been a while since I have read a good rock star romance story so when I saw this from Thia Finn I couldn’t wait to dive in – the blurb had me hooked before I have even begun. Thia Finn is also a new to me author so I was also really looking forward to reading something by someone new!
I loved this story! It has everything that I love in a rock star romance and there was a second chance element to the story too which was great too! I have to say I went into this story expecting one thing and I got something completely different! Poor Emmy! My heart broke for her so many times when it came to her feelings for Alex but I loved that she was so determined and motivated in other areas of her life.
Alex was everything I wanted and more from a rock star god! I am definitely a fan of his!! I loved that there were some unexpected things with his character like with the storyline – all of this definitely had me captivated by this read from beginning to end!
I would absolutely love this to become a series, there are so many secondary character who I would love to find out more about and I can definitely say I am very much looking forward to reading more from Thia Finn in the future!

Before The Second Chance is a fantastic rock star/second chance romance novel by Thia Finn. I had never read any of this author’s work but I do love rock star romances and also second chance romances, so I just had to give this book a try. I’m so glad that I did as I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
16 year old Emmy falls in love with guitarist Alex Trace when she sneaks out to go see a show and meets him afterwards. When they share a kiss she’s totally besotted. Fast forward 5 years and when she meets him again after a show she’s totally gutted when he doesn’t remember her.
By chance she meets him again a year later when her current boyfriend Marcus, who works with the band, gets Alex and his brother Adam to use Emmy as their realtor. Although Alex doesn’t remember their first meeting he’s intrigued by the beautiful Emmy and she can’t get him out of her head. When Alex becomes ill, they are become much closer.
I really loved this story. It is very emotional and it’s fantastic storyline and characters will keep you gripped throughout. Alex is a very troubled young man who thinks he doesn’t deserve true happiness due to his actions in the past. Can Emmy be the one to change him and be his HEA? I suggest you read this book and find out. It’s a fantastic read!

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART 4 stars,
So ok I’ve read plenty of other books by Sylvie, but this was by far my favourite read.
The story of Jax being a single dad but always causing the heartbreak in the world of women is great, his character is so head strong he doesn’t realise he has such a good thing until its gone. His battle to get back what he lost is hard and his daughter doesn’t make it easy on him and somehow he becomes open to what could be.
Told from the POV of Jax and Ari, this is a tale of love and hurt and understanding one another and the perspective of why things aren’t plain black and white.
Definitely worth the read

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2)Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay is the second book in the Almost Perfect Series.

The moment I saw that Shannon was a Chicgo native I wondered if she was a Cubs fan (Go Cubs Go!) or a Sox fan. That question was answered when I least expected it.

We see Zane in different aspects of his life. A fun loving incle who loves his nieces and nephews, a single man enjoying life and as a romantic which I wasn’t expecting at all, but I totally swooned when I read that chapter.

This second book in the series had none of the let down you might see from a newer author. Looking forward to keeping up with her and see how her writing evolves as she gains experience.

Or will his self professed bachelor status stand in the way? PLEASE READ BOTH OF THESE BOOKS! They are both amazing! Enjoy!!!

I especially loved the love of piano playing in the novel, it seems like there are so few novels with instruments like that written as a main aspect anymore. Loved the writing, Fernandes did an incredible making the words flow freely with tons of emotions throughout the pages. I was immediately captured by them. I loved the romance, and how well described Trish’s heartache was written. Not many authors can accomplish that it seems like. Oh, and Jax pulled me in with his southern charm and the interesting tid bit about his daughter at the start.
This was seriously an addictive read. The storyline had an excellent easy flow. There was great plot development and climax in this book. It was organized and well thought out. I also felt that the cover art was attractive and eye catching. I highly recommend this book!

I’m such a sucker for the single dad stories! I completely loved the connection between Ari and Jax. Jax is so carefree and tries to steer clear of commitment and Ari is a smidge of a man-eater but when the flirtation between them escalate, a child is thrown into the mix. Several months later they are thrown back together! I loved the story and I loved these characters! Such a great read and I can’t wait for more from Miss Stewart!

Before the Second Show by Thia Finn is a stand-alone book that will completely immerse you in its tale.
This book is absolutely amazing!!! Emmy and Alex are the perfect kind of broken that just draws you in and makes you want to learn about every little thing. The fact that they aren’t these “perfect people” is really what caught my attention. While I might not love a rockstar life it made me feel like I could be going through the same thing as them at anytime:
The story was brilliant as well. It had such a depth to the writing that you could picture everything so clearly. This book has been fantastically written and I hope we get to see more from these characters!!

I just finished reading The Runaround Carolina Connections. It was so good, the chemistry between Jax and Ariana were hot and steamy, but then funny, charming and down right sweet at times. The story pulled me in from the first page, and kept me enthralled till the final page. It’s one of those books that will make you laugh and cry, then smile and want to throw it across the room. Ariana and Jax seem to be two wrongs making a right. I would highly recommend this book if you want something that just keeps your interest through the whole book, one of those “I have time to read just one more chapter” kind of books. Its that good.

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have become familiar with Fernandes writing over the last year or so and so when I saw this one I was intrigued by the difference of storyline from her other novels. I loved how this book brought on the angsty and very real reality that is life and making love work around it. These main characters will try your patience and ask you to look inward as you read. Often I found myself really having disdain for them each, especially Trish, but they have a realistic life that causes ripples and affects the way they approach love.

Trish is an adopted young woman that has the passion and talent of playing piano. She hasn’t had an easy past when it comes to love both with family and with the opposite sex. She can be a tad bit negative though and that is where I struggled with her. Michael has no desire for long term anything. He is a one night stand type of guy and these two may look like absolutely the opposite of what they actually need. However, we see by the end how they could easily be the glue to mend their broken hearts. I enjoyed how raw and realistic this book came across and I look forward to seeing what else is to come from Ms. Fernandes!

Taming Zane is the second book in the Almost Perfect series by Lisa Lanay, though it can be read as a standalone. It follows the story of Zane (a talented plastic surgeon) and Shannon (an intelligent and independent college professor) after they meet by chance on a flight to California and a series of unfortunate events brings them back together. I found this book very sweet, though there were times when I just wanted to shout at the two main characters to get their acts together and have to admit at times I actually disliked Zane. I did find to refreshing that Lanay allowed Shannon to stand her ground and not be pushed into making a choice she didn’t want. I hope that book three revisits these characters and the readers can get to know them more.

The runaround is the sixth book in the Carolina Connection written by Sylvie Stewart, and she didn’t disappoint. I just loved the plot and the characters are amazing, funny and well written I just loved how they played off each other. We also get to see our favorite couple from the first five books.
Ari the last thing she need is the messy complications of love when she got so many balls in the air and so many goals yet to accomplish. She always picked loser boyfriends they’re like martinis; they’re lots of fun at first, but the longer you hang out the bigger headache they’ll give you. In comes Jax he thinks he can tempt her to take a walk on the scary side and he’s using his daughter to reel her in.
Jax has always been carefree he likes to stay 2 steps ahead of everything, so he never gets surprised but, guess what he just finds out that he is a dad to a 14year old girl. She wants nothing to do with him, He’s not ready to be a dad he doesn’t even know what to do.
This is a great book and you will need to read the book to find out what happens with Ari and Jax and Jax’s daughter.
I highly recommend this book/series….

This was a fun, lighthearted read. The banter between the characters was quite comical. For a romantic comedy, it had depth to the story. Jax is a man who can melt your panties with his southern charm. He knows his way around women and has many notches on his bedpost. Dealing with his fourteen year old daughter is completely different especially because he only met her seven months ago. If getting her singing lessons will keep her happy then so be it.

Ariana is a strong willed, potty mouthed woman who is goal oriented. She’s a breath of fresh air and I loved her. She’s had a string of loser ex- boyfriends and even though she’s immensely attracted to Jax, she won’t allow him to charm his way into her pants. Obviously fate has other plans.

I think the author did a good job showing the problems that Jax and his daughter had to overcome. The growth of their relationship was remarkable. The story was good and the characters are amazing. I would definitely recommend this book.

Wow what an emotional rollercoaster of a romance story.

Shannon meets Zane on a plane. There is an immediate attraction between them but Zane is a none commitment type of guy and she thinks once they get off the plane she would never see him again.

When Shannon loses her wallet, Zane comes to rescue her by offering her a place to stay for the week she is there.

Over the week there relationship and attraction intensifies until on the last night they give in and enjoy one night of bliss together.
The next day Zane is quick to make Shannon realise he cant offer her commitment that she wants and even though her heart breaks she knew this from the start.

BUT has Zane made the wrong decision? Could he give Shannon the commited relationship she wants? Is what he’s feeling for her love or just make believe?

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Other Words is the opening act of Pamela Q. Fernandes’ new Boothbay Harbor series. I had read couple of her books before and as I liked the way she presented the world and the issues we encounter, she was someone I kept my eye out for and here she comes with her new series! She is touching on some very sensitive matters and I admire the care and understanding she has while addressing them.
In Other Words gives us the story of Trish Hold, an adopted child from Korea and internationally acclaimed pianist who is searching for her identity. She needs to find her true roots and she has that inherent need to belong that so many adopted children have … while she has that need, she is not doing much about it in real sense … she has the need to be loved so she falls for anyone who shows her affection and most of us know what it means … it doesn’t last so the men leave her and it feeds the feeling of being unlovable … Enters Michael that has his own baggage, coming from the family that does not share a lot of love … and then you have the clash of expectations and needs and struggle and you will keep your fingers crossed to the last page, hoping …
I am curious to see what happens next in Boothbay Harbor and I am sure the writer will not disappoint us!

When reading this book I didn’t realise that it was part of a series set around a group of friends but thankfully each book in the series can be read as a standalone.
In this book we get Jax and Ari’s story, and what a great story it is. This story will make you laugh so much and also move you to tears in parts too. I absolutely loved both Jax and Ari. Ari is just a total badass woman who takes absolutely no crap from anyone. She’s just awesome. Jax on the other hand has just discovered he is the father of a 14 year old daughter he knew nothing about and he’s struggling to cope.
For me the star of this book is 14 year old Lola. At the beginning she hates Jax and is a typical monosyllabic teenager but as the story develops she realises he’s not the complete a-hole her mother made him out to be. The interactions between these 2 are amazing. Seeing the turmoil going through Jax’s head trying to cope with this new relationship, the love he has for Lola and how he sabotages his relationship with Ari thinking it’s the best thing in the long run. Also seeing Lola turn from this sullen, angry teen into an amazing young woman is also wonderful to read. Her growth throughout the book was written so well by the author.
I realise that I’ve focussed on Jax and Lola and not really much on Jax and Ari but I can assure you that their story is wonderful and you will love it.
Added to this are their group of friends, whose stories have been told in previous books in this series who really add so much to this story. I’d love to read some of their stories too.
