A Love Restrained by Becky Flade – Review by Beverly Finnie

A Love Restrained (Philly Heat series, #1)A Love Restrained by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the beginning of the Philly Heat Series and all I have to say is WOW! A Love Restrained was the perfect beginning to a promising series. It reads well as a stand-alone as well. But who am I kidding I love characters I can get invested in over a series leaving me wanting more. A second chance romance with some suspense thrown in. Where could it go wrong? Everywhere but that’s what makes it a wonderful story!
Kylee and Jayson knew each other in high school. Both having feelings for the other. Unfortunately Jayson broke his promise to Kylee and left her devastated. Now he’s back and she just arrested him for selling drugs. How does one handle that?
Kylee knew he didn’t come from a good home. She figures that’s what landed him in her custody today, little does she know how wrong she is. Spoilers I’m not willing to share eventually clear the blinders on her eyes.
Jayson wants Kylee more now than he did when they were younger. It’s too dangerous though, especially since she’s a cop. He’s a criminal working near the top of a crime organization. It could never work. Or could it?
These characters challenge each other in so many ways. You understand where both are coming from. How stubborn they are. Reminds me of my stubborn streaks. I’m a Jayson fan and I’m rooting for them to work it all out.
Where will the author take this story?
What will come next in this series?
What happens when the tables are turned?
I really enjoyed this book and this author. Wonderfully written and perfect to grab someone into a series!

Yesterday’s Over is the third book in the Philly Heat series and I truly enjoyed reading this book. This is Romance Thriller that will have you turning the pages trying to figure out is going to happen next. This is a fast paced story that is packed with action, drama, suspense, murder mystery and so much more. The characters are amazing and really bring the story to life. This is a story about Ben and Trudy. She works as a Medical examiner who happens to find some bones under a house after an explosion and finds herself working with Ben who is a anthropologist. These two see this case from different views but can they figure out who committed the crime ? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.

This was a great 5 star read.
I really loved the characters, their story pulled me right in from the beginning.
Trudy and Ben were great. Trudy meets Ben while working on a case. Ben is also working on the same case. They work together to find the answers they are looking for. Their connection also grew. Will they get to the truth before the killer gets to them?

Overall this was a great read. We get suspense, romance, mystery and so much more. The secondary characters added a great element to the story. The author does a great job with her writing. I look forward to reading more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

This book was definitely an interesting one. I have read a couple books from this author before so I knew that I would likely enjoy it. The cover is absolutely stunning and once I dug into the book itself I was blown away. Once again we’re give great characters, a plot that flowed beautifully, and a relationship that was just perfect. I absolutely loved Ben and Trudy and I loved watching their relationship developed. The mystery behind the bones was intriguing and intense, and kept you on the edge of your seat throughout the story. So if you’re looking for a great new book make sure to pick this one up today.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It took me a little bit to get into the groove of the story, but once I did, I was hooked. This is the first book I’ve read by Jim Shomos and I absolutely loved it!

This story centers around Robbie, Annie, and Cat. They are intertwined in an interesting manner as they navigate through the music industry, which is not kind to anyone. Robbie is a manager trying to make it big, Cat is a volunteer that is drained beyond comprehension, and Annie is a single mother just trying to make it through. Robbie is also in charge of a songwriting contest that Annie and Cat are involved in. All three have their own drama but try to help each other through it. Will they make it unscathed, or will the music industry swallow them all whole?

There are some parts of this book, if not the entire thing, that will stick with you long after you read it. Give this entertaining and curious book a chance, you won’t regret it!

Trudy works as a medical examiner who is trying to bring justice to victims and their families. When seeking out answers to the bones found under a house after a huge explosion, she encounters Ben, a forensic anthropologist. Although they see the crime from two different viewpoints, it brings them together. Trudy believes that the killer may still be out in the city. Will these two solve the crime or will the killer find them first to keep them from spilling their secrets?
I love crime and mystery books, now add romance to that. What a wonderful well written book that keeps you wanting more! I will be going back to read the rest of this series!

More Text than Sex by Jim Shomos is an entertaining book that follows the story of Cat, and Robbie. Cat and Annie run a public songwriting contest that Robbie has delegated to. Robbie has hopes of romantically connecting with Annie but they run into some issues. I really enjoyed this book. It was an excellent, fun read. The plot ran smoothly and the characters were well-written. The chemistry between Robbie and Annie warmed up and then took off. The story was fun and adventurous and was a delight to read.

Yesterday’s Over is the third book in the Philly Heat series. It is a romantic thriller with a few twists and turns. With secrets and lies, bombings and murder, danger and uncertainties just to name a few, there is something for everyone to keep the pages turning.

The complex characters are full of flaws and all and you will fall in love with them. This is Trudy and Ben story where the chemistry between them is undeniable. With romance, drama, and suspense what more do you need. I really enjoy a story when it is told in dual POV and this one was.

To unravel the mystery, they must work together but what happens when professional and private lives become blurred? Who is out to get them and who wants to keep them from unveiling the truth?

I wonder what is next on the agenda for the Philly Heat series?

Yesterday's Over (Philly Heat series, #3)Yesterday’s Over by Becky Flade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in this series, I was looking forward to reading this latest story, and I was not disappointed. Assistant Chief Medical Examiner Trudy Beasley is asked to investigate when bones are discovered in the rubble following a massive explosion that rocked Philadelphia. Trudy is used to being able to provide answers and closure to victims families, but the mystery surrounding the skeletal remains is something she’s never seen before. Her instincts are telling her that whoever was responsible for the deaths may still be loose in the city, and she is determined to get answers.
However, Forensic anthropologist Benjamin Roberts disagrees, and just sees the remains as an academic challenge, and not a legal one. The more time the couple spend together as the investigation progresses, Trudy and Ben’s professional relationship also becomes more of a personal one. As their relationship develops, the pair are in danger, as someone wants the secrets that were buried along with the bones to stay a secret, and is willing to kill again. This was an enjoyable and exciting read, with great characters and a storyline that kept me hooked from start to finish. The characters are so likeable and relatable, that I felt engaged with them, and the chemistry between Trudy and Ben really came across in the narrative. An entertaining romantic suspense novel, which I definitely recommend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging romantic suspense which had me hooked from page one. When Philadelphia police officer Kylee Parker chases a drug dealer, she did not expect to know him as the bad boy who she had a teenage crush on. Kylee is a dedicated officer used to protecting and serving, and seeing things as either right or wrong, black or white, and either good guys or bad guys. The even more dangerous and attractive Jayson Donovan, who is the right hand man to a local drug-pushing mobster, is definitely a bad guy, however, Kylee can’t deny the attraction that is still there. Jayson knows he is not good enough for Kylee and that he should stay away from her, but he just can’t, not having discovered the chemistry between them. It’s not long before Jayson’s secrets threaten them both. This was an exciting read, with great characters, who’s chemistry sizzled off the page, and a storyline that kept me gripped throughout.

This is a wonderfully creative story and a great discovery of an author that is new to me. I was pulled straight into this book with such imaginative word-building and character development. It had me hooked before I was at the end of the first chapter. I was intrigued but the world the author had designed and wanted to know more about it.
I loved the characters as well. There were some strong personalities and I loved the depth they added to the story. You could clearly see development throughout the book and it made me want to read more. I am excited to have discovered a new series and a new author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I LOVED this story! It is vastly entertaining! I enjoyed the fast pace and the lovely characters! It all just blended together perfectly to make a sweetly charming story. There are many humorous moments that made me laugh out loud.

The characters are well done and yet flawed at the same time. I was excited to get to know them! They really are likable and/or lovable and I enjoyed them immensely. The interactions between the two main personalities is one of my favorite things about this story. Watching them get together is the sweetest. Secondary characters are just as delightful. I liked that there were a limited number of characters that I could learn about and love. Too many and it is easy to get lost but this book isn’t like that at all.

I could write more and more about what I loved about this book. My best suggestion is just to get it and enjoy it yourself. I could not have asked for a better story from a new to me author than between the Viking and the Battle Pixie. Get it! You wont be sorry!

Later Hater!

I have enjoyed other books by this author, but this one certainly has taken the cake in my opinion! I loved the story line, the characters, and the romantic suspense that came with it!

The concept was thrilling as well as gripping. The characters were indulging as well as showing great character development, as well as how deeply with details the author had written them. Trudy and Ben were great lead characters, and enjoyed the other characters as well. The story was really intriguing. I am a girl who loves talking bones, so of course there was strong appeal for me haha. The story flowed nicely an was easy to follow. Enjoyed the suspense, and twists that the author gave us. Great read. Loved it!

This book is a must read for me, and I wish I could read it again for the first time! I was hooked and at the edge of my seat till the end! Highly recommend this author, book as well as series! For sure a must read!

Another new author for me, I was not sure what to expect from this book. What I found is a really delightful story told from the perspective of three different individuals. It has drama, romance, and family meddling. Once I got a couple of chapters into the story I was laughing so hard I was crying. It did take me a little to get into the story but once I did I could not put it down. The author did an excellent job making the readers feel as though they were right in the middle of this story. I was also fascinated with the inner workings of a radio station. It made me appreciate what they do because I thought it would be a much easier job. I recommend this story for any readers that enjoy rom coms.

Into the Light (Moon Harbor Series Book 3) by Kate McWilliams – Review by Kimberly Wilkinson

Into the LightInto the Light by Kate McWilliams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rafe is the main male character and is so strong while being so gentle. He is so gentle with the character named Ellie. He was the type of boyfriend you want for yourself but able to dream about but can only read. He knew what to say, he was so on love with Ellie he didn’t know what to do with himself. He would do anything for her to keep her safe and just so she could have. He let her be Ellie and let her be herself which she desperately needed. Rafe needed someone to tell him he deserved to be loved. He was so hard on himself and he needed someone to support him. Rafe was real hard on himself and he needed someone to tell him he was worth it. Ellis was a wonderful character, she was strong and tender all in one. The whole time reading I thought I thought I knew what was going to happen but I really didn’t. I like those type of books. I would have liked the climax of it all to have lasted a little longer but it didn’t take anything away from the magic of the book or these two characters. Friends to lovers is a very good thing in my book I like those type of books. And ‘Into the Light’ has that and a lot of it. It was a truly beautiful story that kept me turning the page to find out what was going to happen at the end. This is definitely going to be one on my list that will be read over and over again. In fact, I think the whole series is one that I will read again and again. Kate’s writing style is one that pulls you in and keeps you in. Kate also writes romance and relationships with a beautiful flair that has me smiling so many times throughout each of her books. She’s an exceptional author. I absolutely loved reading this book.

Beast.

That’s what they call me.

I can’t blame them.

My face half-eaten by a dog, the hideous scars make people gasp and turn away.

Except for her.

Annika Popov. A sheltered Bratva princess who has never seen me.

I’d like to keep it that way.

A glorified thug and interrogator, I work for her family. Doing despicable things. Luckily, my ugly face does most of my work.

Annika is off-limits. The boss’s daughter. She doesn’t know I watch her secretly. Or that I weave fantasies around her. I know I can never act on them.

When Annika’s life is threatened, her father gives me an unexpected task: take her to the lake house and protect her at all costs.

I take my job very seriously.

I am her elusive protector, staying in the shadows.

Until her curiosity brings her closer.

Suddenly, Annika sees the Beast.

But I’m no threat to her.

She has no idea what is hunting her.

Or that the true beast is closing in.

And I’m all that stands between her and danger.

When I was little, I thought everyone had stories in their head. When I found out only special people had stories to tell, I wanted to be one of the magical ones who shared their stories with the world. I wrote my first book in kindergarten with the help of my teacher, Mrs. Daniels. My mom – my biggest fan and most ardent supporter – has that my little crayon-drawn book tucked into the pages of her family bible. It took almost thirty years to get from there to published but here I am, making my own dreams come true, one happily ever after at a time.

Hate You Later (Lit Lovers Series Book 1) by Ciara Blume – Review by Anantha Rusum

Hate You Later (Lit Lovers, #1)Hate You Later by Ciara Blume
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book reminded me of one of Sophie Kinsella romances, a laugh out loud romantic comedy. The two protagonists are very strong willed and have a personality of their own. They are very independent, one hates asking for help and the other hates to be taken advantage of.
What happens when their personalities clash? There is a lot of quirks, banter, sparks, tender emotions, pets, rescue, debate, and some drama thrown in.
It is fun,lot of gimmicks, I really enjoyed this book. Will check out more from this author.

More text than sex generic final

Jim Shomos

3 stars

This book is an indulgence for your senses, the story is told from 3 different perspectives, Annie, Robbie and Cat, the protagonists describe what it is like to work in a music record studio.

Cat and Annie organize a song writing contest, which Robbie joins on the orders of their boss, which at first seems like a disaster ends up making the event even more incredible. Throughout the contest, Cat explains how her life is based on what music makes her feel, and how her work at the teen activity center fills her with a fullness that she didn’t think she would achieve. Annie for her part demonstrates the challenge of being a single mother who has an incredible talent for singing and instills love for music in her child. They must face his father when he returns after abandoning them when she told him about her pregnancy . Robbie, who at the beginning is shown as a villain, turns out to be a hidden genius in business and management of musical talent, his life is filled with love for music as well as the care of his brother, whose special needs allow him to be an organized store of music. and songs.Along their narrative the common problems surrounding them will try to crush the mental and physical health> drugs, money and unknown outcomes tainted the goals, but they will fight to overcome them.

Thanks to the work carried out by the 3, the stories are spun in a way that friendship and love merge into a story full of complex feelings and musical notes.

The Warrior is the third book in this the wonderful series The Freemasons. Each book is about a different member of the old secretive culture of the Freemasons. I have fallen in love with each and every one of them but I think this one is my favourite so far.

This delicious friends to lover’s romance tale as all the hotness and sexiness and action that you could want. With danger around every corner, steamy fiery passion, many secrets, an abundance of lies, fear and hope, angst and age-old secrets, Nicole knows how to keep the reader engaged.

Jude will stop at nothing to find his sister but putting another life in danger doesn’t sit well with him and then his fears come to fruition. Can he keep her safe?

Sienna is the master of blending in but when others find her secrets, she is no longer safe. Can she rely on herself or does she need help?

I look forward to book 4.

This is not the first book I’ve read by this author. This book was way to fast paced for me. Not really sure how so much happened so quickly. Kendall is a reporter looking for her big break. She stumbles across Chad who is the newest thing in the Boxing circuit. Kendall gets an inside scoop

Because her dad is coaching Chad.
The chemistry between the two Chad and a Kendall is crazy but Chad gets very angry thinking about Kendall writing an article about him. He wants to remain a secret. He doesn’t want anyone to realize who he is. Super fast paced, felt like I missed something. Aside from that, I thought the book was good.
