5 Stars Never Is A Very Long Time (The Perfect Date Book 1) Audiobook by Donna McDonald
Never Is A Very Long Time is the first(Audio)book in The Perfect Date Series and my first book by this author. This is not at all what I was expecting, it was so much better than I thought it was going to be. This is a Contemporary Rom-Com that pulled me in from the beginning and I literally listened to the whole book in one sitting. I truly enjoyed listening to this fast paced story and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life and keeping your attention. This is a story about Mariah and John, she us newly divorced from Dan who is a cop (detective) who is determined to ruin her and her new dating(match making business. She used to have a show on the radio but gave it up to start a new adventure. Her ex is a real piece of work and I wanted to punch him a couple of times, he’s not a nice person. Then there’s John he works with her ex and you can tell he doesn’t much care for Dan.. She vowed not to date but what will happen when the match maker meets her own match? These are sweet together and there’s definitely attraction between them. Will she give into the attraction and give John a chance? I highly recommend listening to this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to many more books by this author.

This was a beautifully written book! I really enjoyed traversing the journey Addie and Wesley are on with them. Their chemistry was so realistic as they fought their own demons to find their happiness in each other. Their shared history was stunningly written and I adored the alternating points of view that fabulously illustrated each of their sides of the story. I’m a sucker for a happily ever after, but I also really like reading stories with a little basis in reality. This story has both, with realistic events and reactions and the happily ever after, I absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes stories with a touch of reality and a happy ending!

I cannot say enough good things about not only this book but this series! It is impossible to lose interest over time and bonus, they can all be read stand alone! In this one the narration fits the story and keeps readers attention. Its like Sons of Anarchy without all the violence and easier on the stomach! I cannot wait for more of not only this series but this author as well!

Haha, I was waiting on this one especially after reading the others. It was only a matter of time as Mason told him. This particular book makes me think back to she’s all that, the movie. This author takes it and fastforwards it to who they are in the present time though and after Kenzie has rebuilt herself as the woman she is and the goals that she has set for herself. This series has been absolutely incredible and leaves you craving more.

Mason. Rhyann. This story was definitely one meant for a book! I love it when a book addresses and tells the story of things that happen in real life. While this book was difficult to read as the last one due to the assault and other things it’s a need to read story. While this series i feel like is based on the titans and them falling in love that isn’t what stuck out most to me in this story. Mason wanted justice for these girls. This book was as good as the last 2.

I had to put this book down a few times. It made my stomach hurt, my eyes tear up and heartbreak. It hit home with almost every turn of the page. I have been pregnant nine times and have 4 living children myself. While I didn’t become an addict I still struggle daily with the loss of my babies. Anton and Elsa’s story is incredible from the time it starts until the end of this particular book. They are strong and the love they have for one another is stronger. Anton is Elsa’s rock and vice versa. This book hits on infertility, surrogacy, addiction and trials and errors and bad decisions we as humans make. We are all imperfectly perfect. We are all only human. Love conquered in this book is an example of how the world could be a better place.

This book started off rough like the man was cold rough. Caspian is a man who only uses women, he isn’t one to fall in love or be “tied down”. This book threw me for a turn and brought me to tears. Paisley is a sweet humble girl and it’s just been her and her mom since she was a child. When a tragic accident puts her mom in the hospital and Caspian’s uncle’s health takes a turn for the worst these two bump into each other for the first time in years. You never plan to fall in love, it just happens. Paisley is an artist who earned her way into college and Caspian also worked very hard to get where he is. The two, grown up now live in separate worlds. I loved this book and Caspian and Paisley’s story.

Onto the next couple in the clubhouse! So this one obviously is Peg’s story of finding his lady. His lady is ending up a firefighter. Darcy also wondered who could ever be in her life. She’s had a tough time with being a woman firefighter. That’s how they click when he helps her. So much else is also going on and it’s a good read!

This anthology is put together to help raise money for Ukraine. I have read many of the books. One thing I truly loved about this anthology is that it has something for everyone. Also, it introduced me to authors I haven’t heard of. I want to spotlight my two favorite stories in this anthology. Clara’s Story Part Two by C.A. King was possibly my favorite story. It is very relatable as it tells the story of a mother who wants the best for her child, but her paranoia definitely gets in the way. She is well intentioned but this story is definitely a tear jerker. This story was full of endearing characters and I really truly enjoyed it. Rock Star Lawyer by: Rose Bak was another amazing story. This one is a romance that takes on opposites attracting. What I love more about this is that it talks about a rockstar who puts on a concert to help the people of Ukraine. I love how timely this story is and that it gets to the heart of the reason the anthology was put together. I cannot recommend this enough, especially since it is a great way to get multiple books by many authors.

This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work but I will definitely be reading more. In particular, the remaining books in this trilogy. It’s always a risk taking the plunge and trying a new author but I’d never have discovered any of my favourite authors if I hadn’t taken that initial plunge. This is one time that I’m glad I gave a new author to myself a try as I really enjoyed this book. The blurb had me very intrigued and the book lived up to my hopes. Dr Josh Templeton has never forgotten his first love Mavis Benson who disappeared from his life with only a letter saying not to contact her. When they get in touch 10 years later we get a fantastic story of love and betrayal. Josh I adored as a character. He’s loving and sweet and I’d love a Josh in my life. Mavis I loved most of the time but there were times I really wanted to kick her butt. This book has the added bonus of a great cast of secondary characters who add so much to the story. I’m assuming we will see a lot of more of these in the 2 remaining books in the trilogy and I really look forward to reading them.

I really enjoyed this read, it was a nice easy read with a great pace and flow to it. I found it easy to get lost in what I was reading. I love a second chance romance so I knew as soon as I read the synopsis I was going to like this book and I wasn’t disappointed! This was also a great introduction to a new author. The characters were well written about and I found them relatable and easy to connect to. I really felt for Mavis and the choices she made and I loved Josh – their story was definitely an emotional one! A Beautiful story and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the trilogy!
This was a great read – I really enjoyed it. It was easy to read and I read it fairly quickly. The pace and flow of the story was good and I liked the characters, the author did a great job of making them relatable and I found I connected with them easily. From the synopsis it was clear this is modern day retelling of a fairy tale and we all know how they go so whilst yes the story may have been a little predictable it was still a beautiful read. Overall an enjoyable read and one that I would highly recommend – I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

4 out of 5 stars I loved this story. Being an older, divorced woman, I love revenge stories. The chemistry between John and Mariah is perfect. However, her mom stole the show. Humor, romance, revenge and fun made for a good read. It needed human voices to narrate. I did find the AI read to fast and really had no inflection. Other than that small glitch, good audio book.

5 Stars I Loved You Yesterday (Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 1) by Julie Navickas
I Loved You Yesterday is the first book in the Trading Heartbeats Trilogy and is a heart-warming Contemporary Romance that is packed with, love, drama, secrets and second chances. This is a fairly new author to me and I’m definitely a fan already. I loved reading this fast paced story that definitely had my emotions all over the place. Secrets always have a way of coming out and sometimes we like or even understand but can love conquer all? I was pulled in from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down till I finished. Mavis and Josh were high school sweethearts but one huge secret has Mavis leaving not only town but Josh with a shattered heart. Years later he finds himself divorced and still in love with the one who left a decade ago. These characters are relatable and fully developed and make this story come to life. Can forgiveness be enough for these two? What will happen when the secrets are out? I don’t want to give away to much but I do highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for the next book in this Trilogy.

Together We Stand, Vol. 2 is a charity Anthology where all proceeds from the sales of this book will be donated to organizations providing relief to Ukraine. This is a collaboration by 19 talented authors who have each contributed a story- each one unique and individual to the author, but each using the same inspiration to create their tales- with the theme being survivor stories. I enjoyed each author’s contribution, they were individual, while also complimenting each another, as well as the collection as a whole. This anthology has so many different takes on the theme- bringing us romance, women’s fiction, second chances, drama, danger, fantasy, mystery, adventure, myth, heartache, love, loss, hope, new beginnings, steam, the paranormal, emotion, tension, M/F, M/M, or F/F, and much more. Some of the authors I am familiar with, while others are new to me, which is a real win-win situation for me as I knew I would love the stories from the authors whose work I am already familiar with, but it was also exciting to explore new horizons in the works of the other authors who are ‘new-to-me’, giving me the opportunity to get a taste of what they are capable of and the opportunity to find new authors to add to my TBR list.
The anthology contains:
Hidden Treasures By: M.A. Abraham This is an intriguing fantasy with interesting characters who show strength in the face of adversity, and finding where you belong.
The Unknown Kings By: Skye Purington This is a wonderful time travel romance and is the prelude to the new branch in the MacLomain saga- the new “Irish Roots” series. With magic, adventure, drama, heartache, prophecy, and good vs evil- this story has definitely whet my appetite for the rest of the MacLomain series.
After the Rein By: J.A. Lafrance Rein Brooks life has been quite difficult, leaving her feeling lost and alone. Paddy Nickels might be the one person who is willing to have her back. Heartache, loss, connection, emotion, and finding love unexpectedly. A great addition to the collection.
Rock Star Lawyer (An Oliver Boys Rockstar Romance) By: Rose Bak This is all about opposites attracting. Two hearts from different worlds find they have more in common than expected. A former Rockstar turned lawyer teams up with the daughter of refugees to organise a charity concert to raise money to support the Ukraine. With romance, steam, secrets, banter, drama, emotion, meddling family/family dynamics, secrets, and finding love unexpectedly made for a great read.
Clara’s Story: Part Two By: C.A. King One of my favourites of the Anthology. This continues Clara’s story, bringing a character piece full of drama, angst, anxiety, doubts, and overcoming challenges. As expected from this talented author, the story was well-written, interesting, and emotional- made me feel for the character/s and invest in Clara’s Story. Well done.
Finding Fate (An Inspire Me Short Story) By: Crystal St. Clair This is an emotional read. With a cancer diagnosis/battle, friendship, love, bonds, connection, determination, life, and some drama- made this a very connectable, relatable, believable, and inspiring read.
Teeth Are Bones (Blood & Ancient Scrolls Series) By: Raven Belasco A paranormal fantasy with vampires, love, loss, history, drama, and more. The author has crafted a wonderfully original, well-researched story that incorporates clever, fictional world-building surrounding historical facts. Intriguing!
A Wife From the Homefront By: Jordan Leger This is a short story that incorporates a lot of characters in such a short space. This is a military romance about military spouses and what it takes to watch your loved one be deployed. A story of emotion, tension, love, loneliness, and drama- with a dose of spice. It feels like it could be the prequel to a new series.
Surviving the Blast By: A.M Cosgrove This is a very short story that packs quite a lot in such a small space. A military tale with action, adventure, a mission gone wrong, drama, and intrigue. Bo latest mission doesn’t feel right- and soon things don’t go according to plan. What happens makes for a bit of a gripping read.
Happy Hour By: C.L Collier This contemporary romance is set in the “Discovering Us” series world- with recurring characters that bring some drama and emotion. Mari has just returned to work after a cancer battle and isn’t quite prepared for her attraction to her hunky new co-worker. What happens makes for a sweet read.
Headliner (Sometimes #1) By” A.L. Morrow This is a short, standalone, M/M Rockstar romance- an enemies to lovers story about finding love unexpectedly. A sweet and steamy read.
Ensnared By: Emery LeeAnn & Zorha Redwolf Edwards This is a M/M romance story. What would you be willing to do to find justice for your loved one? This is a father’s quest for justice and the cost involved. A darker story with triggers, love, loss, grief, redemption, challenges, and hope.
The Shimmer By: Tricia Daniels “Ancient Natives believe that a hummingbird crossing your path means you’re on a journey, and by the end of your journey, you will develop the strength and courage to endure”… This is a contemporary second chance romance with challenges, change, emotion, drama, messages, family, past history, and interesting characters. A story with a message- “live in the moment and enjoy life’s simple pleasures”…
From Flames By: A.N. Waugh This is a short insta-love, M/M firefighter romance about two broken souls and one fated rescue. With drama and some darker themes which made for an intriguing read.
Saving His Own By: Pandora Snow A medical, second chance romance with emotion, challenges, drama, the weight of expectation, compromise, and sizzle. Will Artem and Elina get their second chance on love? Well worth the read to find out.
Twisted By: T.L. Mayhew A sweet, steamy, western, small town, contemporary romance with enough chemistry, emotion, and drama to keep things interesting.
War Queen By: K.L. Fast & M.K. Moore Cash has loved his Queen from the moment he met her. But Queen Renatta has a duty to her people. Can love overcome duty, responsibility, war, and challenges and find a way to bring these two together? A steamy romance with angst, drama, and sizzling chemistry. A very quick, easy, and engrossing read.
If you are looking for something a little different, has emotion, and has something that is sure to please everyone- then look no further, this is the book for you. Seventeen books for the price of one, now that’s a win-win situation for sure. Plus, your purchase will also support a very deserving cause. Fairy magic has no place in the modern world – or does it?
Ashley Adams doesn’t have time for haters. Already too busy dealing with dead bodies after her stepmother purchased a mortuary, she is ready to put the lid on her judgmental peers and finally bury her high school experience. Falling in love was the last thing on her mind.
Too bad fate had other plans when the local celebrity lands in her life.
Pop sensation Harry James is ordered by the court to attend public school for his senior year or face jail time. He can’t afford any bad press if he wants his summer tour to go ahead. But when he ducks into the mortuary where Ashley works to escape a mob of fans, he wonders if he is chasing the wrong dream.
High school mean girls, a controlling publicist, and scheming stepsisters want to keep Ashley away from Harry. After all, everyone knows the popstar doesn’t belong with the social outcast.
If only they had some fairy magic to help them find their happy ending…
Ashes is a fun and snarky standalone YA romance. If you like captivating characters, emotional twists and turns, Fairies and Cinderella retellings, then you’ll adore MK Harkins’ fast-paced tale.
MK has always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, she decided to write the kind of book she’d like to read. This resulted in the creation of her debut novel, Intentional. (Award for Best Sweet Romance – eFestival of Words- August 2014) Unintentional, Breaking Braydon, Taking Tiffany, The Reader, Famous by Default, soon followed. The follow-up to The Reader, The Jack, released August 2018.
Ashes, the first book in a new series of modern-day fairy tale retellings released in May 2022. (Five more books in the series to follow)
When she’s not writing novels, she likes to spend her free time traveling the world, splashing in mud puddles (She lives in Seattle, what can she say?), watching movies and reading (!) She LOVES to hear from her readers!

I loved this anthology. So many different authors with different writing styles and different stories to tell in one place. Two of my favorites were Clara’s story part 2 by C.A. King and Headliner by A.L. Morrow.
Clara’s story part 2 was bittersweet. Clara suffered so much tragedy in her life. She still kept a smile on her face and an open heart. My heart broke for her when her daughter was hurt. That accident affected her whole life including her marriage. By the end of this short story Clara found peace and happiness.
Headliner was pretty good as well. Heartbroken Jet is trying to save his career by working with Skye the Grammy winning song writer who unbeknownst to Jet is also trying to heal a broken heart. Sparks fly, great music is made, and maybe some hearts start healing. This is a MM romance. With lots of steam.

Together We Stand Vol. 2: A Charity Anthology for Ukraine is a collection of 18+ stories by various authors. Some are USA Today Bestsellers while others are new authors. I picked this up because I saw several authors I have read before and it has the added bonus of giving to charity to help those in Ukraine. I have only just started in on this book but have gotten a couple of the stories read. Each I have read is a wonderful story and I enjoy that each story is unique. The first story I read is Clara’s Story by C.A. King. I have enjoyed many of her books and looked forward to digging into this story. The story is a quick read but definitely throws an emotional punch. How does a family, and especially the mother move on after a tragic accident? The characters were relatable which helped make this story so emotional. The second story I read was Hidden Treasures by M.A. Abraham. This story is completely different from King’s. The story follows the Drakaina girls, protected by the Drakes. Every summer they go to private schooling that prepares them for living successfully in a world of humans and dragons. I really enjoyed the fantastical elements of this story and how the Drakes were explained. There was a lot of information for a shorter story but didn’t feel bogged down. I also enjoyed all of the characters and their interactions. This was a new author to me but I will look for more to read by them.

This charity anthology is not only for a good cause, but it’s full of wonderful stories, all of which are well worth a read. I literally ‘binge read’ this book and thoroughly enjoyed each story, although, the anthology as a whole definitely took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Each story is by a different author and each one is a different genre, so there is a story for everyone! The authors have written tales covering everything from horror and persecution, to loss, and unfair struggles, which all lead to either new lives, new perspectives, or new romances.
Having read all of the entertaining, enjoyable and engaging stories, it’s hard to pick out just one or two. However, C.A. King’s, story ‘ Clara’s Story’, did stand out, following a tragic accident, a mother has to come to terms with the aftermath, and the life changing effects it’s had on her daughter. The mother also gets a second chance at love. The plot had me hooked from the start and I felt engaged with the characters, and immersed in their world. I found the storyline both heartwarming and at times heartbreaking, and although it’s a fairly short story the characters stayed with me. ‘A Wife from the Homefront’, by, Jordan Leger, also stood out for me, the story focuses on a husband and wife, separated when the husband is deployed. In this story the wife is having to manage at home with their young daughter. The storyline is about having a spouse in the military and the sense of loss and loneliness that they can feel, and of course worry for the one deployed. The plot also shows how the other spouses all support one another, and how with a bit of imagination the couples can still have intimate moments even when they are apart, which does lead to some steamy scenes.
The underlying theme in this anthology for Ukraine, is survival and survivors. Each story has a very well deserved HEA, and I was left with a sense of hope, inspiration and positivity for the future at the end of the anthology.

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster, in a way I really didn’t expect. I expected just a typical, second chance romance type story but this book was so much more. The complexity of it really drew me in. I loved the development between Josh and Mavis, I found myself rooting for them the whole way through. And yet, I couldn’t quite decide how I thought things might turn out. I loved the writing style in this book. Everything was so well developed, from the story to the characters. The author seemed to get every part of it right and has left me excited for what is to come next. I can’t wait to read the next instalment of this trilogy.
This book was an amazing read that had a lot of unsuspected twists and turns. This is a love story that deals with love through different periods of life and some deception.
This book follows the story of Josh and Mavis. Years apart allows for a lot to change and many new secrets to hide. After 10 years apart what will happen when old memories and questions make staying away impossible? Especially leaving after spending the majority of your life with a group of people wanting to get answers from you and why you left.
Josh is a doctor that is going through a hard time with his home life and knowing what he needs to do next. Born and raised in California with his twin brother Austin. Austin is a witty and smart lawyer that works hard and loves hard. Mavis is the one that got away with dreams of being a writer and a lot of skeletons in her closet.
Want to discover what has been hidden for ten years? You will have to buy this book and get drawn into the world of this love story.
I don’t think I have ever read a book like this one and it’s going to be very difficult to do a review without giving away spoilers. The character build up in this book and the thought that this actually does happen in real life is just so relatable. I grew so attached to the characters especially Mav, Josh and Austin. There is a group of them but those three are the main ones that are in the triangle. The love, passion, suspense and all the things in this book. You don’t expect the ending and I can tell you my heart was racing and my cheeks were flushed and warm during reading this. Josh is so sweet and loving and patient and his calmness is sexy. Austin is the one who is more free but I also think he is a butthole, you will see why. Mav, well what happens is really hard to understand her and why she did what she did but goodness tell me how you’d have handled that situation. This book is realistic and relatable to me so I may be a bit biased but it’s one of the best books I think I have ready in a very, very long time. I felt like i knew these people. I really hope that my review helps you to give this book a chance and you love it and the characters as much as I do. Also, the epologue, there has to be another coming!

I was asked to review two stories from this wonderful anthology.
Hidden Treasures by M.A. Abraham: A hidden treasure in this anthology, I found this story to be intriguing. Female Drakaina have been shipped to a secluded island for most of their young life to be trained in how to hide among the general population. Nonie, the main teacher, is an elderly Drakaina, wise and astute. She has several centuries of wisdom to share. I found the characters to be perfect role models of strong women. The 3 leading girls, daughters of Trank and Titiana Livingston, are strong and courageous, courtesy of their grandmother, Nonnie. They, along with the other girls, spend many years training, questioning and coming up with methods to help solve their own challenges on protecting other females from Drakes and Dragon Hunters. This is a fantastic story: strength, courage, overcoming adversity.
Clara’s Story by CA King: This story is both a heartbreaking and beautiful story of survival. Clara experiences something no parent should ever experience. Her daughter is in a devastating accident and is the only survivor. The injuries will change Clara’s life and marriage forever. The story is well-written and developed because you can feel the powerful emotions in the story. Clara, her husband, and the doctor are all characters that are very relatable to. The plot line of the story goes with a glitch. The only thing I would fix is to have part 1. I did feel like I was missing the beginning of the story. However, as Part 2, this story will both rip your heart out and make you smile with happy tears. It’s beautiful and the author did a fantastic job.

I cannot say anything but amazing things about these assortment of stories! Each one had its own way of being what it was, and each was mesmerizing in its own shape or form. I enjoyed reading these, and the feeling that came with me as I read!
I especially felt triumphant with reading C.A King’s story in this assortment of stories! I loved the feelings I read as I read. It was deep and emotional, but the triumph it had, was very uplifting. It makes you feel hope, as we do in life even when life is at its darkest. This story really spoke to me for all that it possessed. A well wroth read! It was one that stuck with me!
The others were amazing as well. I read them all, each one though different, had a magical spell about them on what they possessed. Beautiful in every which way! Loved these stories! Amazing collection of stories! Very much a well worth reading! Highly recommend this must read!

I’m just loving the cover and I couldn’t wait to get lost in between the pages of what looked like it was going to be a brilliant read and it was a new author to me and I was not disappointed 🥰
Secrets never stay hidden and they have a way of revealing themselves and this so true as to the events in this book and look let’s be honest love isn’t always easy and often it’s a messy thing and it hurts but rather love and lost than not love at all ….
Mavis and Josh were high school sweethearts and when she discovers she’s pregnant she leaves town and while she thinks she’s doing the right thing she’s actually not and then she tell his twin brother well what’s that all about !? I know I sound all judgy and I hear her heart but making such big decisions on behalf of another is selfish but as I said I saw her heart , I had to stop reading for a bit as my emotions were all over the place I felt angry , sad , empathy , frustration …..
So I picked up where I left off and soon enough the past catches up to Mavis and there’s Josh who wants her back and Austin that won’t let go and things look a right mess but stick around ….
Mavis , Josh and Austin , thank for allowing me to a part of this journey to be a part of your lives and for sharing yourselves with me , love you guys ❣️📕

Together We Stand Volume 2 is a collection of romantic thrillers written by 20 outstanding authors that decided to come together to do something for raising money that will be donated to the Red Cross providing relief to the Ukraine. Well done to you all.
I love anthologies. Each story just unique and interesting and as good as the others. I got to read stories from some new authors as well as some favourites. New worlds and characters and tropes; there is something for everyone.
I enjoyed each and every one of the stories but C.A. King’s story is one that really stood out to me – Clara’s Story Part 2.
Find Clara’s Story Part 1 in Love is Eternal: A Charity Anthology for Ukraine.
Even though it is short I was totally entrenched in Clara’s Story. C.A. weaves worlds take you away and you feel like you are in it with them every step of the way.
This is another great read by CA and one that should not be missed.
Another story that I felt in my heart was From Flames by A. N. Waugh. AN is a new author to me and I really liked this story. I look forward to checking out more of their work.
This heartfelt story is a MM tale where our characters are left with scars from the past but find their way to each other.
I won’t share details with you as you need to grab a copy today to support an amazing cause.

This anthology has such an amazing collection of stories, and they all attracted my attention for different reasons. A couple that stood out for me were Clara’s Story Part 2 by C.A. King and Twisted by TL Mayhew. I highly recommend both of these authors! They were able to include so much depth in such a short read.
Clara’s Story Part 2 I felt my pulse racing as I read through Clara’s Story Part 2. I’m a mom which means anything to do with kid’s misadventures instantly has me panicking and/or crying. Clara is trying to do everything she can as a mom to steer her daughter, Kirsten, down the right path but her paranoia sometimes gets in the way. Or does it? I felt this story while tragic, ended with such hope that gave me happy tears.
Twisted This was a dark romance novel with some steamy scenes that made my jaw drop! Jerrod is obsessed with a woman he can’t have until he sees Austin, who happens to be his obsession’s best friend. Austin is in town dealing with the death of her father, but Jerrod is going to help her navigate through those emotions. I loved the chemistry with everyone involved and the raw emotion had my heart in a vice.
