Powerful! Intense! Suspenseful! This book will have you on the edge of your seat. This author has written one of the most extraordinary books I’ve read this year. Rose, Brian, Max, Bobbie, McCauley, Marco, Bobbi’s parents, Andrew and a cast of supporting characters make for a some very good drama that you’ll never find on those TV shows. (bum, bum, bum…). I found myself holding my breath as the story built to find the ritual serial killer. The plot is built around Bobbie joining the force and having to live down her Debutante rep; Rose being know as a “witch”; etc. We get to see romances build; families get used to new careers and new romances; old dreams will die. Plot twists will abound and I love the fact that they don’t make a mess out of the plot; they flow just like they are naturally built there. I love all the subplots. This books grabs you and won’t let go. You will want more (I do….). The characters are well-developed and you feel like part of the story. Protagonists abound and those antagonists are going to get what’s coming. I loved this book and the author is now on my favorites list. I highly recommend this. There is steaminess and some triggers in this.

This story hit home with me. Anxiety and mental illness is a real part of peoples life, and I think it’s was well displayed in this story. Evans story related so much to myself, anxiety can wreck you self confidence and cause you to doubt yourself and everything and everyone around you. Callie was such a supporter of Evan, it goes to show everyone deserves to love and to be loved I also loved how therapy was not overlooked. It showed that there is no shame in going to therapy or taking medications to be your beat self, and everyone could use a little therapy, someone unbiased yo talked to.
It was a wonderful story of self love, support and struggles.

The Liminal Space (Antipodes Book 2) by T.S. Simons. This is a awesome 2nd book in the Antipodes Series. I recommend reading the first book to fully understand what’s happening and to get the full effect of the book. Its the continuing story of Cameron (Cam) who is doing well in his new community with his friend Fraser. He has become very happy with his life here but still misses those he lost desperately. He has become very confident of his status and his abilities as he has grown so much. There is still a feeling of missing out on the old way and world. He is trying to make right the wrongs he made in the last life and hopes to teach others that there are other ways to do things to get better endings. This is a very thought provoking read and you will be flipping pages late in the night. Don’t miss out on this great read.

I really enjoyed the experience that was Eric and Kiki. This author is new to me and I will definitely be picking her books up again. There was so much drama, angst, and sweet moments in this book. It showcases true love and the lengths that you may have to go through to find it and keep it. Kiki was such a force on her own right and the fame and success still allowed her to be grounded. Eric was such a sweet and nice guy and he had a good heart. Together they built something amazing and the journey that it took for them to get to that good place was well worth the read.

Where do I start with this book? First of all, I love a great romantic suspense/thriller, and having read (and loved) most of Ms. Dunn’s previous works, I really was incredibly excited to read this book- especially after I got to lay eyes on the cover and read the blurb. I really thought that this would be Ms. Dunn’s best book yet. So, to say I had high expectations is a bit of an understatement. Ritual Obsession is the first book in the Blood Obsession series by R.L Dunn. It is an action-packed romantic suspense- with mystery, murder, crime & investigation, police procedure, danger, intrigue, violence, murder, potential triggers (abuse, sexual assault, violence, emotional harassment, intimidation, manipulation) sinister plots, dramatic developments, chemistry, spice, ANGST….. and much more. As I was reading this, I felt like I was reading an earlier piece writing project of Ms. Dunns as I didn’t think it ‘felt’ as well-woven or polished as the other books of hers that I have read. I really struggled in my reading of this story- and is the first time that I haven’t been completely absorbed by one of her stories. I started and stopped so many times, and was easily distracted while reading. I had to ‘work’ to stay focused and immersed in the storyline. I wanted to give up so many times, but kept going, hoping that it would finally ‘click’ for me. But it didn’t. And I was left disappointed, because there was real potential here for a stellar read. The synopsis held the promise of everything I could hope to have in a book- but I hate to say that unfortunately this one had tooooooo much going on in it which only served to distract from the overall storyline. I will try and explain this.. I felt like there was a LOT of added information, almost like the story was being ‘padded out’. An ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ scenario. The plot went off on various tangents, quite often. There was a LOT of time/storyline spent describing dinner dates, adding/dumping information, manufacturing drama, and describing other characters ‘lives’- so much so- most of it wasn’t really pertinent to the story and didn’t help to propel the story forward in any way. I felt really frustrated by this and it really detracted from the story and my overall enjoyment of it. There was so much ‘thrown’ at this story that the end result felt overly complicated by unnecessary ‘dramatics’ and all the info dumps. As an example, the story shows our ‘main character’ Bobbie and her family/social dynamics, her new placement as detective in a new precinct, her work partners prickly reception that backflips into friendship, her other work colleague/dynamics, station politics/procedures, Bobbie’s chemistry and subsequent romance with Max (a colleague), her obsessed/possessive ex, her friendship with her housemate and their dynamics, the murders, the investigation/trying to track down the killer, her colleague Rose’s relationship/s love triangle of sorts with Andrew and Marco, the voodoo aspect, the killers perspective, lots of backstory and flashbacks, and so much dialogue, details, and other descriptions. I’m not sure what relevance was to be had to the overall story by going into Rose’s relationship/love life in such detail- with her swearing that one was the love of her life- then doing a complete 180 with the whole situation? I didn’t think any of that was relevant to the story??? It just seemed to be ‘added/manufactured drama’? I think most of that thread could have been left out and it would have made the story better, as it really just took the focus off the obsession/serial killer/investigation, which was supposed to be the ‘main’ part of the story. Then we get the story from multiple POVs, which I normally love as it gives a broader perspective to the storyline- but in this instance, we get so many that I think it detracted from, as well as bogged down, the main story. The dialogue also felt off at times, somewhat stilted or ‘manufactured’. And I felt that the intimate/sex scenes were also not up to Ms. Dunn’s usual level. I could go on, but I hope you get my point. I really wanted to love this book so much, and I feel bad that I can’t give it a higher rating. I am intrigued by what might happen in the next instalment, so I will be diving into that when it lands, and will keep you posted on my thoughts there. Hopefully my issues here will be sorted out or make more sense in the next book. Happy Reading!

He is working with Captain Jack to hopefully find the serial killer before he strikes again. During the investigation we met some of Fitz’s chosen family. One of those turns out to be MJ. The same woman who has had a crush on Fitz since she was five. MJ sometimes struggles with the level of protectiveness that Fitz displays, and also her long held feelings for him. Fitz does everything he can to hunt the killer, but keeps his family number one always. I had to keep reading to discover what was going to happen. I was fully invested in the characters and the story from the start! In Uniquely Mine you can find crime, romance, and family devotion.

In the second novel, Silent Innocence, Fitz is brought into to discover if there is a connection between a string of recent kidnappings and the murder of one girl. While he was walking through the precinct, he saw a little girl, Stella, who was in tears. Fitz discovers Stella is deaf, and signs with her to communicate that he is going to help her. It is discovered that Stella’s mom, Effy, has also been kidnapped. Through his investigation Fitz encounters a friend of the murder victim, Hudson, who is a lot of help to him in finding the truth of what has happened to the girls. I love how fast paced these stories are, and how vivid the details allow the reader to be fully immersed in the story!

Read the first three books in the Fitz series before proceeding. The fourth book focuses on the relationship between Fitz’s brother/best friend, Andy. Andy is a single dad. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but he doesn’t want that to hold him back. Andrew, his ex-husband, wants to meet Andy to see if they have another shot. Meanwhile, Fitz has begun an investigation into some deaths of homosexual men that were all ruled as suicide. The deeper the investigation goes, the more Fitz is convinced that there is a serial killer who is targeting homosexual men and Andy might be next. A page turner once again. I binged the first four books in this series over three days! I can’t wait until the next one is finished!

This is the story of two teenagers that seem to be very different but end up having more in common than they thought. This was my first book by this author, and although it is not normally a genre I read since it is about teenagers in high school, I thought that it was well written and a beautiful story. Parts of it were predictable, but I really enjoyed the visibility and representation it gives to individuals with medical conditions that make their lives more difficult. There are some mature scenes in the book, but I think it touches on so many important topics for teenagers and the adults in the lives of teens (teachers, school staff, parents, etc) such as bullying, medical disabilities, friendship, courage, peer pressure, and depression. I definitely recommend this book and it was a quick, enjoyable read.
The Liminal Space is the second book in T.S. Simons’ exciting Antipodes series. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, with survivors connected by Stargate-esque portals, this series has me totally hooked! One of the things I particularly like about the series is the opportunity to travel to different parts of the world, which makes it a great lockdown read (if you can cope with the “disease wiping out most of life on Earth” plot at the moment). In this sequel, Cam has grown and learnt a lot. He is confident in what he has to offer to his community, and is learning to let go of things outside of his control. All of the characters are adapting to the new way of life, but also missing aspects of their old lives and wondering if things ever could go back to normal. This series is very much a series for today’s world. As well as themes that relate to our experiences with COVID-19, there is a huge focus on environmental issues and our responsibilities towards the planet. It is a thought-provoking book that I would recommend to young adult readers. It gets five stars from me!

I am a HUGE fan of this series and was SO excited to read the newest installment. As predicted, it did not disappoint. It has been a long time since I read book number three, so I could have easily reread it to refresh my memory but I couldn’t wait to dive right in. Literally my only “complaint” is that I had a foggy memory when it came to some of the characters. Of course, this in no way impacted the storyline or quality of writing. I love that not only does this book have action and suspense it has well written and developed characters with a genuine bond between each other. I feel as though not only are they closely connected, they’re written in a way that feels like they’re my best friends too. I can not recommend this book (or series) enough!

This is the fourth book in this series and the best yet. This series keeps getting better and better with every installment. This is an author that I have enjoyed from the first book I picked up. This is a well written story where the author used their writing skills and attention to details to make the story pop. This is a great romance story that has some twists of suspense added to it. A story about two people who are trying to make things work but a serial killer has something else in mind. There are a lot of things happening in this story but the author did a great job of keeping me engaged. The characters are strong, connectable and supportive of each other. They had me coming back for more. They made the story easy and entertaining to read which just added to the story. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

This is a series that I have enjoyed right from the beginning and I love this new addition to it. This book is easily my favourite in the series so far. I just loved getting to know Andy and Stella, their relationship seemed so precious and exactly what they both needed. And I was really rooting for Stephen to find a way to be a part of the family again. Then came the mystery and intrigue of the killer targeting them. For me, that just added a whole new layer to the story and made it so much more enjoyable. The author has really caught my attention with this book and I could not put it down. Not only is this an already strong series – this book for me is fantastic all on its own.

What a Story! Not what I expected! This series just keep getting better and better! I loved how this one brought out the emotions! I was sickened, enraged and saddened. Oh there are good times but the main story..at times I just wanted to cry. I have many…many sections highlighted as there is much wisdom in here.
This is the fourth book in the Fitz Series. While it could be read as a stand alone I would highly recommend reading the series in order. The reason is that the characters are given to the reader in bits and pieces. Through the stories they each show up and the family grows larger with additions.
We have previously met Stephen and Andy. I adored them and was devastated at how Stephen acted. Now he is back and wants Andy to forgive and forget. I admire the backbone that Andy has in this story. His life has not been easy but luckily he has the love of a great family.
Fitz and his team or family have really outdone themselves in here. I am still reeling from all the trauma and suspense that happened in here. It is an honor to hang out with Fitz and his family/friends.

Something About Aimee (Girls from the Street Book 1) by S.E. Smith. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the next in the series. This is the story of Aimee aka Wheels who is a courier on a skateboard aka her nickname and works very hard. She has to fight for everything she has but she is very educated. She can speak several different languages but she’s also street smart. Through several weird chain of events she meets Quadir who is a Shiek and falls for Aimee the first minute he sees her. He is determined to make her his wife but Aimee is not having it. Quadir is used to getting what he wants and if he can’t get it he can usually buy it but Aimee is different. When she ends up accidentally saving his life he is forever indebted to her. When Aimee saves Quadir she doesn’t expect to become a target herself but that is exactly what happens. Is Aimee smart enough to out run someone wanting to assassinate her? Will Quadir finally get Aimee to love him? Read this fast paced Romantic Suspense to find out!

I don’t really know where the title came from, but I’m glad I read Amber Waves of Grace. It was a really good book with amazing characters. I know so much more about farming now, haha. But for real, it is a wholesome clean story. The characters all go through some pretty heavy stuff, but it is real life problems. The story was realistic and not just a fairy tale love story. I love how close the families are, and the characters all have good chemistry. I enjoyed reading the afterward acknowledgements, learning where the character inspiration came from. Highly recommend and look forward to reading more by the author.

4.5 out of 5 stars Princess of Prias, by Courtney Davis: First, let me start by saying I really enjoyed Princess of Prias, and was unable to put it down once I started it. Princess of Prias is a beautiful story of girl named Elle (L) who goes on an unexpected adventure to find the truth about who she is, and where she came from.
The story begins with a tragic scene which leaves our heroine orphaned as a newborn on a planet not her home, Earth. Thankfully, she was taken in by a kind woman who taught her love and acceptance as she grew into the bright young woman she was meant to be. Although she grew up with her Aunt Sarah, who had taken her in and loved her, she still always felt like she didn’t quite belong. That something was different about her, more than just her physical appearance of purple eyes, and a blue star shaped birthmark.
Throughout Elle’s adventure, she lives out every young girl’s dream, finding out she is a long-lost princess. But she’s so much more than that, she is her people’s savior, and during her adventure she learns more about herself, her people, and what she can do to save them. She finds she is more powerful than she could have ever imagined and learns to use that power to save her world.
This wonderful book tells the life of our heroine Elle who goes on an unexpected adventure to find the truth about her origins. Along the way, she finds out truths about herself she would have never expected. Her adventure is met with friends, betrayal, love, and so so much more.

I’ll start off by saying that the amount of faith, despite all the things that Corrie, Aaron, Luke, Violet, and all the other amazing folks in this novel go through, is really incredible. I have never been one to really look to the higher ups, whomever they may be, to get me through the tough times, but after reading this, I can certainly see the mentality behind doing so. Truly, the writing in this novel was very well done, had a great touch of mystery, romance, and family.
I really enjoyed the character building, and found it fairly easy to relate to Corrie and her need to keep the farm afloat, as well as the struggles she went through in the past. The only thing I found difficulties with, is that the past seemed to stick right where it was, and decisions were being made based on such over and over again, which seemed a bit overdone. That being said, everything else was phenomenal, and it just proves that if you have the right people by your side, you can get through anything! I do recommend giving this a read, it will give you the tingles and make you feel as though you can overcome anything!

Key to His Heart was an absolutely engaging story. From the quaint town of Golden Crest as the setting, to the characters we get to meet in this town, I was fully in love with this story. Pregnant and divorce, Katrina is drawn to the small town and start life over. She doesn’t know a soul, but her own soul tells her she must be in this town. TJ has returned home after his retirement from the NFL. He loves his close knit family and his job as Coach and teacher at the local high school. The only thing missing his the desire to fall in love and create a family. TJ and Katrina meet in an unexpected way and moments keeps springing up for these two. Katrina has envisioned so many of these moments and knows she is here for a reason. These two realize that they are intertwined in more than just a physical attraction and realize that true love and soulmates may be real. This story isn’t only about finding your soulmate. It is finding your family and who you are meant to become. I love how the storyline flowed and I was pulled into the hopes, dreams and desires of all the characters. Lovely story!

This was an excellent story! Elle is so relatable, and her reactions to finding out that she’s literally not from this world is intriguing. I adore her headstrong personality and the way she faces the new situations that could have other people completely losing their minds. Locan intrigues me with his Warrior mindset and focus on duty, even as he feels connected to Elle. His protectiveness is so complete, and it makes me want to know him, but also the ones he knows. Traylon makes me laugh with his carefree attitude, even as he focuses on what he knows he needs to do. The characters are so interesting and the world the author built is amazing and I wish I could see it through my own eyes instead of through theirs.

Ahhh I want to read it again! And I probably will! I loved Kiss A Thief so much! I couldn’t put it down. It wasn’t what I was expecting going in or even as I started to read it. Which is what kept me intrigued. Mia and Dylan are wonderful! I love their character development throughout. This book is hot, sexy, happy, sad, and full of betrayal. Yet the characters feel like they could be your everyday friends. Mia, an art gallery curator, is struggling to make ends meet, while doing something she loves. After meeting an alluring stranger, that has her captivated, at an art opening, changes her life. She falls and she falls hard, but what happens when trust comes into play? Dylan, one of the wealthiest bachelors in London, has been caught off guard by a beautiful stranger. He has to see her again, what he doesn’t realize at the time, is she is so much more. He trusts her implicitly, until he doesn’t. Breaking her heart and his own in the process. Will Mia & Dylan find their way back to one another? Will he ever believe she had nothing to do with the theft? I want to be the friend in Mia’s corner while she’s in turmoil dealing with the fallout of being the number 1 person of interest. I want to lash out on her behalf. I’ve become so invested. I just hope everything works out in the end. What did you think I was going to tell you? What’s the fun in that? I love a good sci-fi romance story and the cover already intrigued me….but this story had much more…action, danger, fighting for survival…
Mia is a human who is sold into slavery…and ends up being a fighter and trusts no one. Mia is strong and no holds bar in order to stay alive, and I love that about her character. She is totally relatable. Castor, an Atlantean, finds Mia and is at first not only to rescue her but is totally drawn to her. Things don’t always go according to plan, at first Mia does not believe in Castor and his rescue of her…until she puts some pieces together and finds out that Castor is truly there to help Mia. Castor and Mia have to team up and survive the dangers that come their way…..
This story flowed so easily and hard to put down. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

This was such a sweet read with great characters. Corrie has just moved home to her family farm after a tragic accident has left her dad unable to maintain the farm. To top it all off her only farmhand just quit. Corrie is beginning to somewhat resent returning home and taking over the farm. It will take a miracle for the family farm to stay afloat. She is too stubborn to admit she needs help. Sometimes help comes in ways other than you asking for it. It starts with her former boyfriend the pastor in town, Luke, who she has a very rocky past with. It is followed by his brother Aaron who wants to help as well. Corrie reluctantly accepts their help and Aaron is quickly becoming a very key piece to the farm as well as maybe more to Corrie. Corrie is truly beginning to fall for Aaron and it seems that the feeling is reciprocated. However, would Aaron still like her if she knew about her past? Meanwhile, a stranger from out of town comes crashing into Corries life. This pregnant woman becomes a large piece of her life. Violet is definitely becoming a part of the Lancaster (Corrie’s) family. As violet becomes more important to the family, there are mysterious fires being set to the farm. Is it somehow related to Violet? Or is it the work of a disgruntled farmhand who doesn’t want to see Corrie succeed? I have to be completely honest, I loved this book. I was hesitant upon beginning to read this due to the fact that I am not generally a big fan of brothers who are vying for the same girl. However, the way that the author handles this is amazing. I truly developed feelings for the characters and found myself crying at multiple points as I was reading. This was such a heart warming book and I loved that there were many happily ever afters in it as well.
