I enjoyed reading this amazing collection of short steamy romance stories. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to enjoy new genres within steamy romance. You will be captivated by the variety of characters and their stories. However, as with anthologies, the short stories are written by different authors with different writing styles. Therefore, you will like some of the stories more than others.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology (A Steamy Contemporary Romance Box Set). This anthology was amazing. It was so hot that I seriously thought I might overheat at times! Every story was amazing about love, lust, and lots of hot sex in the big city! I loved A hole by Phoebe Alexander which is the story of Ace & Ella and miscommunication. Ella works at a bank in the same building that comedian Ace lives. He’s had a crush on Ella for a while and when he works up the nerve to ask her out she turns him down. He then invites her to his show and she reluctantly goes worried she will be the punchline. In Make Me Beg by Moni Boyce its a mob romance story which I love. Its the story of Teagan who is a nurse that is as ornery as she is sweet and Reid who is a “fixer” for the local mafia. When Teagan gets in hot water and gets a hit put out on her she and Reid meet and sparks fly. What will they do to settle the situation? Read this fun, sexy anthology as fast as you can. You won’t be disappointed!

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series by Carrie Pulkinen. It is the first book I have read, but I will continue the series because it was hilarious. The book is about Jane Anderson, daughter of Texas governor, going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras with her best friend. She is trying to be independent and prove to her dad and brothers she can make it as a blogger, but gets herself into quite a pickle. She finds herself being turned into a vampire on her second night there, which is bad enough… but she can’t stand the sight, or idea, of blood. Jane is sassy and sarcastic, and her “sire” Ethan is torn between being annoyed with her, and the magnetic draw he has to her. He first thought she was his past fiancé, but he was so very wrong. The banter between Ethan and Jane, and Ethan and his sire Gaston, is perfect. (Jane even ties in Beauty and the Beast song when she learns his name, had me dying laughing) I like that this isn’t the normal dark vampire story, but instead is a funny ironic take on it. I can’t wait to read the other stories in the series.

Grumbler's Ride (Satan's Devils MC San Diego #2)Grumbler’s Ride by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Grumblers Ride is the second book in the Satan’s Devils San Diego Series by Manda Mellett. The story follows Grumbler, who is the chapters Sargent at Arms, when he by chance meets a photographer who wants to take pictures of his bike. Little does Grumbler know that this chance meeting will mean meeting Alicia and her mum Mary. Who will soon become important fixtures in his life. As with all the Satan’s Devils books, this book has a strong alpha main character looking out for his “family”. What I liked about this book is that both the main characters were older (50’ and 40’s) and wasn’t just a first love, happily ever after story that you can find with some romance novels. I really enjoyed this book, and as an avid reader of all the Satan’s Devil MC books I am looking forward to the next one.

I was once again transported into the motorcycle club world and boy I was not disappointed! I really like how the author brings the characters to life. I feel as though I am truly there part of the action. I also like how the romance is subtle. I really like how there is a mix of action and drama.

I really like how Grumbler and Mary come together. It is the very definition of opposites attract. I really like how the characters are believable and down to earth. I like how the author is able to bring the romance and drama together. The author has a very refreshing writing style that just hooks the reader from the first page. I really cannot wait to read more from this author in the future.

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology (A Steamy Contemporary Romance Box Set) – Review by Michelle Mulvey

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance AnthologyBig City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a great Anthology but everyone has their favorites. Mine was none other then the amazing Phoebe Alexander with A Hole. This read was so cute, funny and swoon worthy. A Hole
Is about a comedian named Ace Bennett who has a crush on Ella Craig who is bank teller for a bank which happens to be on the same building as his apartment. He makes excuses to go into the bank and Ella knows it. Finally one day Ace gets up the nerve to ask her out but she turns him down. He then asks her to come to his comedy show and there is a bet made. Ella goes to the comedy show with an opinion about Ace she had gotten from her friends. She has a plan in place. She just wants to find out if he’s as good of a kisser and she is told. Sometimes you can’t believe everything you hear. Sometimes things don’t happen the way you think they do. What will happen with Ace and Ella. Is he really the A Hole she was warned he is?
Such a great story. Great main characters and of course the supporting actors were awesome too. I hope there are more reads coming with the rest of the characters.

There are many rules to follow as your mom’s guest at the company holiday party.
Rule one – do not, under any circumstances, find the new boss so attractive.
Rule two – definitely do not undress him with your eyes.
Rule three – if he slips you his phone number, throw it away. I repeat, throw it away. Who cares if just one look into his blue eyes makes you want to drag him underneath the nearest mistletoe?
Rule four – when you show up at his house the next day, do not let him kiss you. Your lips are meant to say good-bye.
Rule five – at no point should you let him take off your clothes like he’s unwrapping his sexy Christmas gift. And moaning will only make it worse.
Rule six – rule six is a bonus rule, so pay attention. Forget rules one through five.

Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.

Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance AnthologyBig City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology by Hazel Storm
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a collection of short stories which will immerse you into each of the worlds for a few minutes and leave you wanting more.

The stories and authors are:
“The 57th Floor” by Hazel Storm
“A Hole” by Phoebe Alexander
“Asylum Club” by Aidy Award
“44th & Blue” by Jodi Payne
“Global City Tryst” by Maida Malby
“Felling Bechet” by Stella Williams
‘The Wolf of Wall Street” by Lucy Eden
“Make Me Beg” by Moni Boyce
“Courtney” by Jayce Ellis
“The Glass Tower” by Emily Gray
“The RIght Note” by Bree Kraemer

The collection held stories by authors I love and some authors which I have newly healthy appetite to read more. As i devoured theses stories there are a few which stuck out, A-Hole by Phoebe Alexander, The Wolf of Wall Street by Lucy Eden and Make me beg by Moni Bryce.

A-Hole by Phoebe Alexander – This story is full of humour and is a brilliant short story, the characters are well developed as usual and although this is a short story it does not feel like that, you want to know more. The story revolves around Ella and Ace, with him trying to make her laugh but with her insecurities on high alert as to will she be the butt of the joke.

The wolf of Wall Street by Lucy Eden – This story has a hint of paranormal vibe which is not really my genre but this story was full of deep emotion and a story which will have you turning the pages to finish.

Make me beg By Moni Bryce – This is a mob infested story, full of action and strong characters. It has a good build up and is exciting and I loved the character of Tegean and her internal struggle to love someone she should not love.

Each story has a different angle but is full of strong characters and great addition to my reading library.

5 +++++ Stars

Whew! Took me a bit to get my thoughts together on this newest installment of the Satan’s Devils. Started a bit slow for me which was a shock because normally I’m done and hooked after the first page, but I’d say an eighth of the way in I was completely invested. Then by the end I realize this is now one of my favorites from the many books in this series that spans a few cities and charters.

Not gonna lie, there was a scene that had me putting my kindle down and having to walk away for a while. It made me need to focus on something else to get my mind off of what I’d just read. By the time I picked it back up I was plotting and planning right along with them to have a few people meet Satan. Serious respect for this author’s ability to get through that part of writing this story.

I loved Grumbler, and equally loved Mary, and Alicia became one of my favorite people towards the end. There were so many things I loved about this story. The family aspect of the club came through loud and clear and bringing in Utah was genius and I feel absolutely needed in that ongoing storyline. I feel a building of that open storyline coming and can’t wait to see how that plays out.

I wanted an epilogue a few months ahead at the end of this so bad, I kept trying to turn the last page and nothing… I so hope we don’t have to wait very long, I need to know how it all turns out.

Once again I finish a Manda Mellett book and wonder who is next, what charter will it be and realize I don’t care…I just need it now!

Awesome story, awesome characters, there are so many books but reading them all gives you the whole of this amazing MC…That is my goal someday to start and go all the way through rereading every single one!

I love books like this that include time travel where the the main character Maggie goes back in time. And not only is Maggie a time traveler but her Father Time travelled into to future and has been living here for 25 or more years. What a treat! I can tell that the author really put a lot of heart and soul into the book, making sure we could imagine being in 16th century Scotland. The language, the romance, the betrayal all helps to connect you to the story which adds to the enjoyment of the book. There were a few spots that kind of got lengthy but overall, I really enjoyed this book.

I love MC romances, the rougher and dirtier the better. I found a new MC author that kept me intrigued and wanting more. Being Lost, the first book in the Satan’s Devils MC – San Diego by Manda Mellett was so good that I need to go back and read her other books.

What a powerful couple to lead this MC. I will say that I’m not a huge fan of the older couple romance but Manda’s writing has me rethinking that. I can’t wait for more in this series.

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Thunder On The MoorThunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thunder on the Moor is an enjoyable and engaging historical romance novel by Andrea Matthews with a time travel twist. Heroine of the story, Maggie Armstrong finds herself transported back to sixteenth century Scotland along with her Border reiver father. Having grown up enchanted by her fathers stories of blood feuds and border raids Maggie is both excited and disoriented to find herself actually in the sixteenth century. However when her Uncle announces that she is to be betrothed to the son of a neighbouring laid she does not care how charming or how handsome Ian Rutherford is, she is at heart a modern women and will not be told who she will marry. Unfortunately Maggie’s refusal could start a blood feud and she realises how dangerous the time period she’s found herself in is. Having encountered betrayal, treachery, and a tragic murder Maggie wonders if she should stay or try and return to her own time despite having found the family she had always wanted. Confusing matters further for Maggie is the arrival of Bonnie Will Foster who is the dashing young man that she has always be enamoured by in one of her father’s portraits. Unfortunately, Will turns out to be a dreaded Englishman who is out for revenge against Ian, but is he also the hero she always imagined him to be.
I was totally immersed in this story and felt as though I had been transported back to the 16th century along with Maggie thanks to the authors wonderful descriptions of both the time period and the Scottish setting. The use of Scottish dialogue between the characters also made the setting come alive, however this did slow down the narrative for me to start with but I soon found I became used to it. I found the family trees at the beginning very helpful and did refer back to them whilst reading. The storyline flowed well making this an easy read and the plot was full of action, drama, and of course romance. I was hooked from page one and fell in love with the well defined and relatable characters especially the likeable Maggie. Obviously well researched, this is a good mix of time travel, history and romance. I look forward to future books by the author.

I’ve come to enjoy Mellett’s works that stem from her imagination. This is a plot-driven narrative with a blend of romanticism and love with a mix of lust. The characters seemed easy to see through your mind’s eye. Their interest gets deeper as Grumbler helps Mary with a child who is not even his own but he’s the perfect hero for the job. This is yet another favorite going into my vault from this author.

Book 1 Is the start of the magical adventure the author doesn’t disappoint in writing fast paced stories with fun and interesting characters and plots that suck you in from the first page.

Book 2 From the very first chapter of this book I was intruged. Sera and Ian what does all this mean for them. What do you get when you combined a blind witch, a werewolf and a forbidden spell you get this action packed book. Ian by far is my favourite character his story drew me in. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Book 3 This is the third book of this series by India Kells and yet again it delivers a great story.
Finn you feel for him and get right into is mind. You get right into the world and don’t want to come out of this book it such an amazing read I did not want it to finish.

I highly recommend this high fantasy series for all fantasy lovers alike. This world is brought to life by Kells ao much you feel as if you are stepping into it.

I loved reading the book Grumbler’s Ride (Satan’s Devils MC San Diego #2) by Manda Mellett. It is a story that grabs your attention from the very beginning, and I was hooked. I love the characters of Grumbler and Mary. They both know that there is an attraction and chemistry between them. Will they take a chance with each other? What will happen when a situation blows up? Will she be able to lean on Grumbler? This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about Mary, her daughter, and Grumbler with each chapter that I read. I could also see that Mary and Grumbler would be wonderful together and rooted for them to find happiness. I enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters as they have been brought forward from the first book. There are heartwarming moments as well as moments when I was wondering what was going to happen next. There is romance as well as suspense. The author does an amazing job of making both the story and the characters come to life. Don’t miss out on the awesome second story in the San Diego chapter of Satan’s Devils. I highly recommend reading it.

Big City Heat an anthology that certainly does bring the heat. This is a great collection and I knew I had to check it out when I realised it had a couple of my favourite authors in it, and some that I had been eager to read as well. There hasn’t bee a story I haven’t enjoyed in this one, I love a good anthology where each author takes their own spin on the premise, its nice to see how each one has a different take. I really enjoyed the fact that there were a couple of M/M stories in this anthology, that surprised me in the best way possible, there was something special about this whole set, it wasn’t what I have come to expect from usual sets. Phoebe Alexander always brings us great characters and this one was no exception; it was really fun. But that wasn’t the only great story, the other standout for me was the Right Note, as it certainly brought the right note to me.

No Rest for the Wicked (Life is Hell book 1) by Naomi Valkyrie

5 +++++ Stars

This author continues to blow me away with her words and the imagination she puts into her storylines. She has taken a genre I normally avoid and has me glued to my kindle wanting to know what happens next. Every book I finish of hers has me anticipating the next. Her character building is phenomenal and has me connecting and completely understanding those I’m reading about.

This book was no exception, something else this author does better than many is take a story and cut out all the dragging, all the descriptions I dont need of surroundings and such and puts a pace on it that I personally love and appreciate. It’s a fast paced story, but one that is never hard to follow. I love that she is not scared to do this.

I loved Delilah! Her no nonsense inner dialogue, her strength, and her quest to just get away and relax, also that small soft side she doesn’t even realize she has. Her life in the city leaves no room for down time and I could feel how much she needed that. The dedication of this book describes Delilah perfectly! Then add in her supporting cast, Malakhi was a little harder to read, but as the book went on I found myself understanding him better. Caspian and Sheridan absolutely cracked me up, their comebacks and then the pranks were awesome.

This story had it all. There was drama, danger, twists and turns, Demons, Hunters, witches, fallen angels and even a nix and a shifter to keep me completely engrossed in this story. I Loved the ending, it left me wanting the next as soon as possible, and also left me wanting to know more about Malakhi and his history.

I can’t recommend this book enough, I can’t recommend this author enough. I am one of her biggest fans and will read whatever she chooses to write!

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews – Review by Kerry Carr

Thunder On The MoorThunder On The Moor by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what a book. It has everything from history, to time travel, to romance and betrayal. The author writes so well you feel you are part of the story. It is captivating and gripping.I loved the mixture of present day and ancient times and how different the way of life was back then.

Maggie has heard her fathers stories about Scotland and his home life all through her childhood. What she doesn’t realise is her father isn’t talking about his ancestors but about his life. He was transported from his home in 1513, 450 years ahead and now lives in the present day.

When Maggie gets told her father is returning to his home she thinks its just another excuse to join him on a dig until she finds herself transported back in time to her fathers home.
At first things seem OK. She meets her family and is loving having them all around her. However that is short lived when her uncle informs her she is to marry someone she doesn’t even know.
Now her modern thinking conflicts with her present situation  and she doesn’t want to marry him, however refusal will cause a blood fued between the clans.

Add to the mix an English man who has been Maggie’s fantasy for all these years and it is a rollercoster  of emotions. Will the English man be her Knight in shining armour, or is he using her feelings to hurt the man she is supposed to marry? Will Maggie end up with her heart broken?

Thunder On the Moor was the debut novel by Andrea Matthews. It is a descriptive time travel fantasy- with history, adventure, action, discovery, family dynamics, romance, danger, murder, tragedy, betrayal, tension, rivalry, a bit of a love triangle, drama, angst, some suspense, and emotion.
The story is set in Scotland, which the author did a good job of capturing- right down to the dialogue and descriptive elements- as well as crafting all the authentic historical details.
To be honest, though, I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to enjoy this story, as there seems to be a bit of a flood of Scottish ‘time travel’ stories on the market lately. But I can never seem to pass one up when they appear on my recommended book list- so, I took the plunge and grabbed a copy. This may have similar elements to other books in the same genre, but it does have its own unique identity and original details. It did take me a little bit to get into the story and there were times where the story was a little slow going. And I did find it a little hard to connect with the characters, but this my simply be my own high expectations, as plenty of others will probably have no issues- or it may simply be that this is a debut novel and the author is still working things out. Either way, I will be interested to read more of her work in the future.

Thank you, Andrea Matthews.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Thunder on the Moor by Andrea Matthews was such an indulgent read. I loved Maggie, she was so well rounded and relatable. I felt that I was sucked right in with Maggie, the attention to detail was fantastic. I got everything I needed from a book. I did not want it to end.

Key to Tirumfall (The Tirumfall Trilogy Book 3) by J Drew Brumbaugh – Review by Liz Vrchota

Key to Tirumfall (Tirumfall Trilogy #3)Key to Tirumfall by J. Drew Brumbaugh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was anxious to see how this trilogy would come to a conclusion so as soon as I saw it was available I devoured it quickly. Key to Tirumfall is definitely one you will want to read after the first two books in the set or you will be crazy lost. The story builds and builds so the best is to read them that way. Normally I don’t love fantasy novels but this one has some mega inclusive characters that will suck you in and immerse you in the magical land they are traversing.

In Key to Tirumfall we find Isabella as she discovers what she has always believed about herself is and has always been a lie. She will embark on an adventure to find out the secrets and try to open the tower at Tirumfall. Will she find what she is looking for? Can they survive the magic that dwells within the tower? There is a lot going on and this book reads like an emotional roller coaster you won’t want to get off. I was pleased with how it concluded and look forward to seeing what we will get next from Brumbaugh.

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology (A Steamy Contemporary Romance Box Set) – Review by Liz Vrchota

Big City Heat: A High-Rise Romance AnthologyBig City Heat: A High-Rise Romance Anthology by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have a soft spot in my heart for box sets, especially when they are to benefit a good cause like this one. Needless to say this will make the best little Holiday gift this year for several people on my list. I love when books of the same ideals are all grouped together and I can sit and divulge myself as much as I want without needing to search out each book.

Big City Heat has 12 wonderful authors featured with shorts that will blow you socks off and have you grabbing a tall glas of something on ice to cool down with. I have read previously a lot of these authors but also found some new gems to search out after this is done too, also a bonus of box sets. You often come away with more TBR’s in a short time span. (I know how everyone needs a longer TBR list lol.)

One of my favorite reads in this set was Phoebe Alexander’s A-Hole. It is a short and sweet as well as sassy and sexy read. It also gives us the platform for a new series I can’t wait to read as it comes from her. This book had me rolling with laughter as well as aching for some love and more. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings.

Below I will list all the books included and their author. I highly recommend you snag this lovely set and devour it for yourself. There isn’t one bad book in the bunch!

*The 57th Floor by Hazel Storm
*A Hole by Phoebe Alexander
*Asylum Club by Aidy Award
*44th & Blue by Jodi Payne
*Global City Tryst by Maida Malby
*Felling Bechet by Stella Williams
*The Wolf of Wall Street by Lucy Eden
*Make Me Beg by Moni Boyce
*Courtney by Jayce Ellis
*The Glass Tower by Emily Gray
*The RIght Note by Bree Kraemer
