I loved everything about this book from the GORGEOUS cover to the beautiful and gripping romance story within it. I had high hopes with the cover but they were easily exceeded while reading. This author is fairly new to me one and I have to say that excites me because I have a few other novels of hers to check out soon. This is one that left me with quite the book hangover and I know the cure is to find another to devour. I love how this was a simple easy Sunday afternoon read that I was able to dive into poolside. It kept with me and I found myself reading it in one fell swoop. This has the story of Erica and Matt and these two are some very loveable characters. I was invested and hopeful for them to find that happily ever after. Will they? For that you will have to devour this gem for yourself!

Secure Desire is the first book in the Chase Security seriesby R.L Dunn, and is a really great action-packed romantic suspense- with mystery, murder, intrigue, violence, brutality, spills and thrills, hidden agendas, sinister plots, clandestine ops, covert organizations, private security, family, friendship, Politics, loss, betrayal, chemistry….. and soooo much more. Ian Chase is an ex-Navy SEAL turned successful business man, now heading up the Chase Group, a billion dollar global empire in the venture capital and private security sector. He has never forgotten a brief encounter with a beautiful, but engaged, art historian he met six years earlier. So, imagine his surprise when he unexpectedly encounters her again- only now she’s no longer engaged or married, and works for the FBI. He knows there is more to the story, and to her, than she’s letting on. Secrets surround her. And he’s determined to get to the bottom of it all. Cassiopeia Ellis remembers meeting Ian, and he’d made quite the impression on her. But she remembers very little else from that night. She suffers from amnesia and is haunted by nightmares from a very traumatic experience. Running into Ian again after all these years, both thrills and terrifies her. She still feels their electric chemistry and magnetic pull- but she is deathly afraid that he’ll discover her secret and then won’t want anything to do with her. Much better to push him away, than to suffer the pain and embarrassment of rejection. But Ian has arrived at a point where he is able to really help Cassie- as someone seems to want her dead. Can Ian protect her and keep her safe? Who has targeted Cassie, and why? What happened to her six years ago, and what has that got to do with the present threat? All the answers to these questions, and more, can be discovered between the covers of this suspenseful read! I really enjoyed this book. I was intrigued right from the beginning, totally engrossed the whole way through. There were some shocking, emotional, and violent moments that had me anxiously reading, on the edge of my seat to discover if things would turn out ok. There was a lot going on, and so much to keep track of, too. R.L Dunn has written a complex, multi-layered story full of clever interconnected details which gives it a real unpredictability- she kept me guessing the whole way through. I had so many scenarios running through my head, trying to piece everything together and work out what was going on. I though that aspect of the writing, and story, was really well done. I loved Ian and Cassie, they were so easy to like and invest in. I really felt for Cassie and what she’d been through, and what she was going through!!! OMG- R.L Dunn really put her through the wringer. And then there’s Ian- his protective Alpha hotness was swoon-worthy. I also love Kieran, and Monique, Lil and Declan, Luke and Rachel…. And Hunter, such a sexy man- I’d sure like to know more about him! The story was meticulously researched, or the author has experience in the field- with all the medical terminology, equipment, and medications that were used in the story, as well as the security lingo and weaponry etc. The story was detailed and vividly descriptive. The only issue I had, was that there are a LOT of characters in the story- I counted over 130 NAMED characters- which was a lot to keep track of! I didn’t think they all required naming, especially passers-by on the street/hallway, or the nurse at her station etc- especially since many don’t any play a further part in the story. It just was a lot to take in- I like to remember names and places during a story, especially when I’m trying to piece everything together, like in this book- so I found the ‘extra names’ a little ‘messy’ to the overall tight plot-lines. This didn’t detract too much from the storyline, but it was a little distracting, and at times, confusing. I am really looking forward to reading more of R.L Dunn’s work.

Drawn to Him By Tammy Mannersly ☆☆☆☆☆ Sometimes it’s the small town setting that leaves you with big time romance. This story takes you there.
Dr. Matthew Garrick has moved to a small town and has work on his mind. Then in walks Erica Townsend. Just your average clumsy, hard working artist. Both have no idea what is in store for them. Erica, independent and strong she can do it herself. Where Matthew is just looking to get away from his past, and start over. A wing man, really? Anyway these two are so unknowing yet so interested in each other. Oh lets not forget there are other singles looking for their HEA.
I am pleased I read this story of love, by Tammy Mannersly. Her story had all the feels. You will laugh, cry, and even go to the extreme during the rollercoaster ride. Story is well written and easy to follow. I love her characters, but who couldn’t fall for Matt and Erica. I give my full 5 stars for this entertaining story. Now on to look for more by Tammy Mannersly.

Book Review: Drawn to Him Author: Tammy Mannersly FOUR STARS A new to me author that a friend recommended that I read. I will definately read more from Ms. Mannersly. She pulls you into the small town setting and really gets you familiar with the people and makes you feel like you are in the story watching the whole thing unravel in front of your eyes. Matt and Erica really were cute with all of their awkwardness and flirting. Really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more. KLH

Love Song by K.G. Fletcher a five-star read that will sing to your heart. I knew I was going to love this one as I adore the author, but even so I was still surprised by how much I loved it, I didn’t put it down, I went without sleep and basically flaked at work, just so I could finish it. The chemistry and twists will keep you hooked and Sam and Casey will just make you wish you were there with them, they are so real and well done that you can imagine yourself there. This isn’t all sweetness though, there is a truly gripping story woven through that will have your heart in your throat, do not miss this one, it shows why K.G. Fletcher deserves to be your go-to author for a great story.

Drawn to Him by Tammy Mannersly a five-star read that will draw you in. This is such a captivating small-town romance, the characters are great, including the secondary characters and that is something that really makes a story a hit for me, I get so bored when we have amazing main characters and then secondary that are just flat, I am so happy that Tammy Mannersly does do that, and the setting is just sublime, it adds an extra dimension to the story for me. Erica and Matt will warm you up, they will make you smile so much, they bring a warmth to the story, even when they don’t feel the need to share the warmth. This is a great story and one you would be sorry to miss.

Trey: European Redemption is the seventh book in the Russian Mob Chronicles by Shandi Boyes. This book is definitely one of Shandi Boyes’ more disturbing stories. The story both unsettled and intrigued me at the same time. There were parts that made me incredibly uncomfortable with what was playing out and times I really wanted to close the book and walk away. I cannot honestly say that it is my favourite story of hers- but it definitely stirred quite a lot of reactions from me- tossing my emotions around like they were nothing but a rag doll. So, I do have to give her props for that. This book has played on my mind a lot since I finished reading it, and has had me mulling over how I was going to review it- let alone rate it. But I think a story that can evoke so much from the reader, really does deserve some recognition. I love dark and disturbing stories- normally the darker the better. I like to have my mind twisted and my emotions toyed with. This story isn’t as dark as some that I have read and enjoyed- but there is something about it that left me uncomfortable and a little distressed. I took about eight pages of notes while reading this book- which is double what I normally do. There are so many triggers in this book- so be warned! This is NOT a light and fluffy read. If you are looking for hearts and flowers, unicorns and rainbows- then this is definitely NOT the book for you. This story is NOT for the faint of heart. It is NOT a romance in the true sense of the word. So, let me make it clear- this is a Russian Mob/Mafia romance- with graphic violence, drug use/abuse/addiction, sex trafficking/exploitation/rape, violence towards women, swearing, brutality, torture, guns, blood, gore, and more. Trey is a dangerous unhinged Alpha Male I would class as an anti-hero, and I really wasn’t sure I was going to like him in the beginning with all his hard partying, manwhore, deadly ways. And poor Kristina has been so brutalized, held captive for years in the sex trafficking industry, so used and abused- my heart broke (and ached) for her and what she had been through- but I also admired the strength it took to get through all that without completely losing her mind. They are both damaged and broken- but form an intense connection despite it all. Will they be able to lead each other out of the darkness? You will need to read the story if you want to find out. This is told from a duel/alternating POV- which really allows the reader to get a full perspective of what is going on and what is going through the characters minds as the story plays out. I appreciated getting such a rounded perspective of the story. There are a few flashbacks which help to build the backstory, as well as adding to the character depth and development. There are a few issues that I found with this book that I don’t normally find or have with Shandi Boyes books- editing issues, and storyline issues. Then there were sentences/paragraphs with double spaces between words, while the rest of the book had a single space between words. Happy to say that these issues didn’t detract from my overall reading experience. There is a nice surprise at the end of the book in the form of a sequel (novella) which is free to download (through the link supplied at the end)- which gives us more of Trey and Kristina’s story and answers some questions we may have initially been left with. I debated what rating to award this book given that it disturbed me so much and really did make me so uncomfortable- which is really hard to do given that I love dark reads- so I came to the conclusion that the book deserved the 5 stars just for that reason alone.

Fair warning, this book is dark, has triggers but oh my goodness is it so good! It can be read as a standalone but if you want a bit on some characters, read Nikolai’s books. Trey & K, whew where do you even start with them? K is the leading woman you wish for in books like these, she is so strong, resilient and just a tough leading lady. I’m not giving much away here as its best to read it, but if you are offended by curse words, mafia business etc, this isn’t for you but if it is, then grab this book, heck grab all the books by this author you won’t be disappointed.

Trey: European Redemption is the seventh book in Shandi Boyes’ Russian Mob Chronicles Series. It is a dark dark story that blows your mind! You can read it as a standalone but I promise you that you will want to know more about the people you come across in the story so prepare, you will need to tackle six more books once you have finished Trey. In this amazing story we meet Trey and Kristina aka K. Shandi has once more woven a story that makes you part of the very fabric of it and it will haunt you for a long time to come. The journey that the both have been on for years, it leaves you broken and to find a way out to some sort of sanity … it is remarkable. I can imagine some saying that this book is too graphic, too detailed but when I think of the horrors of human trafficking, I don’t think that anything can be too much as we need to be reminded over and over again what it does to our fellow humans so that we are vigilant and step up when needed. I am grateful to Shandi that she does not shy away to tackle something so dark that one could easily lost their way so I want to leave you with what Trey says to K to bring her back from the darkness she has gotten lost in : “The dark won’t last forever. Even on the blackest nights, stars still shine through. Let me be that star for you, Duchess. Let me guide you out of the dark.”

The only word I can say on this is WOW! Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes was intense! Trey is book 7, so I do recommend reading the others first but you don’t have to. You can read this as a standalone novel. Trey is a part of the mafia world. So needless to say that he has demons and is quite broken in his own right. Kristina, who was a part of the sex trafficking world has demons of her own and is also a bit broken. Trey sees that in her and understands her kind of hurt. This book is very raw and dark. The sex scenes are quite explosive. It is a very in your face kind of book. Like I said before it is quite intense, which will have you turning pages continuously. For me, it was so very good! I have no problem recommending this book to someone who likes gritty and dangerous books. This book will suck you in and become intoxicating. I truly hope there are more to this series and can’t wait to read more!

Rebecca Steele Finding the Dream (Rebecca Steele Series #2) by Joanne Patterson was a good four star read. This is a quick read that pulls you right in. You can read this as a stand along.
Becky (Rebecca) is living on a horse ranch near Nashville with her bestie, Emily. She decides to join the rodeo circuit which she is doing great at and her music career is doing wonderful. She is happier than she has ever been, loving life. Until, a big twist that changes everything for Becky.
Overall, I really enjoyed this read. We get several twists and turns. The characters were great and I really liked Emily. Becky is a strong character not afraid to follow her dreams. Chance, oh Chance, this man was determined to make Becky happy, Loved him so much. We get drama, suspense, romance and so much more. The author does a great job with her writing. You feel like you’re right there with Becky as she makes her decisions and goes through her journey. If you’re looking for a great read with a strong female character this is the one for you. This is the first book I’ve read by the author and it will not be my last. North to Nara is such an amazing read. As the first book in the Crimson Sash Series it’s an amazing introduction to the characters.
Neve, a sieve, falls head first for a Sufferer. Little does she know things are going to change. For the first time ever she’s going to break the rules. The quote I choose for Neve is: “You wouldn’t be the same person if you’d been made a Soldier. I like this Micah Ward, not whoever you wish you became to make someone else happy.”
Micah, a Sufferer, is the only son to the Wards. When he finds out who he’s Suffering for things change. He finds himself trying to keep everything a secret. The quote I choose for Micah is: “What they don’t tell people is that Suffering isn’t all sacrifice. Our pain and loss makes us stronger, too—it makes us care more deeply and appreciate simple happiness better than anyone.”
I do highly recommend this for anyone who likes a good love story.

I’m so happy that this was the first book that I have read from this author. It was really good. It is a musical romance that will pull you in from the first note and keep you humming along to the beat of their hearts. Aiden is an agent that needs to find an opening act for his band. From the first time he hears Aria’s voice, he falls head over heels. From the moment that she sees Aiden, it seemed to be live at first sight. This book can make you believe in soul mates. You need to read this book to find out their story. Their connection and chemistry is amazing. I adored the characters and loved the banter between them. This is a definite must read!

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan
I was pulled into this story from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down until I reached the end. This story was beautifully written rich in detail and emotion. There is love, danger, forgiveness, romance and more. This book also touches on human trafficking and it opened my eyes and made me think. As you read you realize how much these characters’ lives intertwine in ways you wouldn’t have guessed. This is the first time I have read anything from this author and I find myself wanting to read more. This author did an exceptional job writing this story tastefully and yet showing you some of the dangers and complexity of the border. I absolutely loved reading this book and I highly recommend it. I cannot wait to read what’s next.

This book is an emotional roller coaster ride of a love story across the border of US and Mexico, between two people with two completely different personalities and outlooks. It is a very intense read and keeps the reader hooked to the book till the very end. Two different perspectives, one can see the beauty of the border and marvel at the sight, or weep bitterly when we understand the complexities of the lives of people who are affected by it. The impact runs deep, sometimes a little dark, but truth is always hard hitting. I am a huge fan of historic fiction. This was the first time I am reading this piece of history and it was a huge revelation for me. The book is highly educational and poignant at many places when it deals with issues of human trafficking of the victims along the border. I sincerely believe that a good book, transforms a reader to a better human. These types of books have to be promoted, and I sincerely wish the book and the author all the success.

This story is a dark romance and can trigger some bad feelings. The story has sex-trafficking in the story line. Shandi Boyes attention to detail that this warning needs to be made. The characters are complex, and what they go through is character building. The struggles they go through kept me reading to the very end. Kristina is the young lady who was taken for a royal-blooded aristocrat who had to have her. He sexually assaulted her for six years and she did not have that in her heart, but she did show the abuse physically. That is until Trey comes along. Trey has the self esteem level as Kristina. Will Trey rescue Kristina and will Kristina rescue Trey right back? You will have to read the story to find out what happens to Trey and Kristina.

Love Song by K.G. Fletcher is a fantastic book with such amazing characters that I didn’t want it to end. This book pulled me in so easily right from the start and I was hooked on the characters. I thought they had such a great relationship with each and I really enjoyed watching it developed over the course of the story. They were backed up with such a strong story line as well. This was the kind of book where I couldn’t read quick enough because it was so good but also wanted to slow down as I just didn’t want it to end!! K.G. I really enjoyed Shooting Star by Xana Jordan, it was a beautifully written romance read that had me hooked from beginning to end. This is the second book that I have read by this author and I will absolutely be reading more from her again in the future. The chemistry between then two main characters was amazing, intense but not too over the top. I was certainly on an emotional rollercoaster with this story, I felt a great connection with the characters and I was really rooting for them the whole way through. I am really excited for the next book in the series – I cannot wait! Lovers of music romance reads will absolutely fall in love with this story – I cannot recommend it enough!!

This was a heartwarming and eye opening read. The story is a romance but it also goes into details about what life is like when people try to cross the border between Mexico and the USA.
It follows two different women from both sides of the wall.
Vivianna travelled over the border with her husband to start a new life. When her husband dies she heads back to the border to return home. However on her journey back she falls into the hands of people who are human traffickers and her life as she knows it changes for the worst. The details and emotion of her experience really opens your eyes to what some people go through for a better life.
Sarah is a city girl. She moves to Mexico on the American side of the wall to help her company set up a law firm. She is glad of the adventure and the freedom but she doesnt expect to fall in love with the place. And also to find love.
Her love is from the opposite side of the wall and is fleeing a drug cartel. The story examines their differences and their likeness and shows that love knows no boundaries or walls.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes
5 Stars
So I totally messed up reading this book, I only read the very first Nikolai then jumped into this one…For me this was a big mistake. I was so confused trying to remember things and could tell there was so much that happened in between…but in true Shandi fashion she made it to where I’d get over those moments and then couldn’t put the book down. Shandi Boyes is in a class of her own, her talent is unmatched in these types of books. I will remedy my situation and have all of these books read in order very soon!
The action, the suspense, the emotion, the danger, the never knowing what’s going to happen next made this book completely amazing. There were parts that were seriously hard to read, but it’s a dark mafia romance..that kind of comes with the territory.
I’m completely amazed at how this author can continue to release all of these books in all different series and each one feels completely new. Her stories are never predictable and I love that. I loved K and Trey, I loved their sweet sides and their not so sweet sides, and how they bridged the communication gap they had.
I totally loved this book and in my opinion even though it can be read I suppose as a stand alone I truly believe they all need to be read in order.
Thank you Shandi Boyes for yet another awesome story!

Wow, what a read, not what I expected what so ever. The title of this story is what initially drew me in but then to read the synopsis and I couldn’t wait to dive in. This was a heartwarming and heartfelt read that had me captivated from the very beginning. I absolutely loved following along with these characters journeys, that took me along on an emotional rollercoaster. I loved how real and raw this book was and that this type of thing, of opposites coming together from different backgrounds, has been written about in an honest real way. That no matter how different people are from each other that you will always find something to connect on. I loved following their beautiful journey and watching their connection grow, but will it all be smooth sailing for them? I highly recommend this read, I can’t wait to read more by this author, you will not want to miss it.

I’m never quite prepared for the rollercoaster I embark upon when I pick up a book from Boyes. But it is the best kind of thrill ride. Twists and turns and moments that take your breath away. I’ve read a few other books from this series and have greater desire to reread those books as well as pick up the rest. Boyes is a gifted writer, one that captures intense moments that grip you and leave you glued to your chair. I loved every suspense filled moment and that there is a fantastic romantic storyline tying it together. Fantastic!

Can a wall be seen through two people be so different? The answer is simply yes. There could be a right side and a wrong side. It depends on what side you are on. In this story, Kate McGahan shows us that in this beautifully written story. Her emotions are in the story. She puts it out there for me with her descriptive writing style. Her characters are complex and makes the story come to life. A wall is to keep someone out, and someone in. This story is about the love story of Sarah and Benito. There is a wall in the physical and mental sense of the word. Sarah is from New York, who lives in Arizona and Benito is from Mexico. Sarah works through the cultural difference between her and Benito. Will Benito fight through the cultural differences for love? I highly recommend this story. I would keep a box of Kleenex close by just in case you need them.

I love a good historical romance and I absolutely adored this book! It had everything I love in this genre! The characters were great, the setting was perfect (Cornwall just happens to be my favourite place in the UK) and the authors writing was brilliant. The descriptive detail meant that I could imagine what I was reading and what I read was fantastic! I was hooked from beginning to end – I love Genevieve – she was so funny and spunky! Some of the banter between her and Sebastian was great! I think it was obvious that they were so perfect for each other! There were some twists and turns in the story which I loved. I absolutely took these characters into my heart from Sebastian to Genevieve and her family! I think lovers of historical romance will absolutely love this book – I absolutely recommend it! I can’t wait to read more from this author again in the future!!

Will Ian and Cassie get their second chance at love, or will her secret destroy them both?
After Navy SEAL Lieutenant Commander Ian Chase’s last brutal tour in Afghanistan, he and his brother resumed control of their private security company and the rest of their international conglomerate, Chase Group. At a charity function, Ian has a chance meeting with art historian Cassiopeia Ellis and is surprised to learn she’s undercover with the FBI. He’s even more drawn to this enigmatic redhead than the first time he met her.
An FBI agent specializing in uncovering stolen art, Cassie is plagued by nightmares and fear surrounding an unfathomable trauma she sustained six years earlier–the same night she originally met Ian Chase. Seeing him again stirs up the feelings she once had for him, along with ghosts from her past. The problem? She’s repressed her memories of the crisis she endured that night.
Cassie’s enemies need to snuff her out before she can remember what happened that fateful night. Can Ian keep Cassie safe from harm, or will her desire to shield him from her past obliterate any chance of a happily ever after together?
The Chase Security Series follows the Chase brothers, Ian and Kieran, and their team of former Navy SEALS and other military officers and is intended for readers 18+ due to adult themes and content. The books can be read as standalones, or you may prefer a chronological reading order as follows:
Book 1: Secure Desire (Ian and Cassie’s story)
Book 2: Secure Again (Martin and Elizabeth’s story)

It’s been a while since I picked up a book by Ms Boyes so when I saw this one I thought I need my mob fix so I dived right in and wow what a book it was! Not that I expected anything less from one of my favourite authors but this was honestly a fantastic read – action from beginning to end and amazing characters that drag you along for the ride! I think I have to say this book might not be for everybody but I was completely sucked into Trey’s story. Apart from Trey – a love to hate character maybe, I have to say Kristina was one brilliant female lead! She had this strength and confidence about her that I absolutely loved especially considering what she had been through! Trey was a pretty complex character but I loved getting to know him more and I loved the two of them together! If you’re looking for a darker read then this book will be 100% for you! I loved every second of it and I can’t wait for more!!

Frank’s Coffee Shop on Manhattan’s Lower East Side becomes a safe haven for Tobias Jordan, a paparazzi-phobic 90s rock star, drawn to the obscurity of the dingy hole-in-the-wall, and Philip Glessner, a disgraced architect, who ducks inside to elude a posse of blood-thirsty reporters. What keeps both coming back is their waitress, Priscilla Vanderpool, who becomes an improbable paragon of virtue to the shell-shocked Philip, and an unwitting muse to gifted and jaded Tobias. But neither man sees her as she really is: a philosophical hard-luck case with a quick wit and a twenty-year habit of penning insightful and haunting lyrics that no one has ever heard.
Alligators in the Trees—a line from one of Priscilla’s songs—symbolizes the bugaboos that lurk in the minds of all three characters: in Tobias, the fear he’s lost his talent, and that his string of model-mistresses will be the downfall of his soul; in Philip’s guilt-ridden conscience as he struggles with the collapse of his most touted building and the prospect of losing custody of his daughter if he doesn’t meet his estranged wife’s demands; in Priscilla, the fear of actually making a decision about her life instead of always taking the path of least resistance. Fate intervenes and forces all three to act on their true desires.
Cynthia Hamilton turned to writing while fighting a mystery illness that went misdiagnosed for nine years. Forgetting that she couldn’t write if her life depended on it, she wrote her first book in secret, just in case it didn’t amount to anything. Nineteen years later, she has written twelve books and published ten of them. She writes general fiction and mystery-suspense novels, as well as some non-fiction. “Once Upon A Lyme…A Tale of Two Journey” documents her harrowing odyssey through late-stage Lyme disease and the unexpected upside of becoming a writer. The Patience of Karma—her latest novel—is the fifth book in her Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series.
