Shooting Star (Back Door Records Book 1)
By Xana Jordan
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Shooting Star (Back Door Records Book 1) by Xana Jordan. It is a romance story that pulls you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go until the final page. It is the story of an agent for a record label and a beautiful woman whose sultry voice sets his world on fire. The chemistry and attraction between them are off the charts. I loved reading about the bantering that goes back and forth between them. They are two people who will have you believing in true love and soulmates. There are some very romantic moments included in this story that make the temperature in the room rise. I also loved reading about the additional characters that are introduced. Their comradery and friendship shine through with each conversation that you read. The author does a wonderful job of making you feel like you are right there with the characters. There are times when I was smiling and laughing out loud. Other times had swoon-worthy scenes. Don’t miss out on a romantic story that will touch your heart. I highly recommend reading it.

I loved reading the book A Duke Never Forgets (The Duke Hunters Club Book 3) by Bianca Blythe. It is a historical romance that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I loved reading about the characters of Sebastian, the Duke of Sandridge and Genevieve. I love historical romances and this book is a wonderful example of why. It takes you to another time period and in this case throws in romance and a case of amnesia. The situations that occur are at times humorous and at others touching. The story is written in such a way that I found myself feeling like I was right there with the characters. There are secondary characters that have their part to play in the story and I enjoyed reading about them as well. Don’t miss out on a book that will have you swept up in another time and place. I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. I would highly recommend reading it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Who doesn’t love a romance novel involving Hockey! Center of Gravity is a standalone friends-to-lovers sports romance (An Ice Tigers Hockey Romance Book 2) written by the awesome Isabella Cassazza. In this story we meet Matt who just got acquired by the Ice Tigers. Matt is a cynic when it comes to women. He firmly believes that they don’t do anything but disappoint you. Now, we also have Emelia, who tries really hard to make everyone proud. But for some reason it just doesn’t seem to work all the time. Emelia is an Italian heiress who is sent to Boston to run her family’s newly acquired hockey team. But things decided to turn for both Matt and Emelia. This book has a lot of twists and surprises that you don’t see coming. The characters are wonderful and interact well with each other. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the others. This is one of those books that suck you in in the beginning and you cannot put it down. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves sports, especially hockey and of course romance.

I have read a couple of books from this author but she keeps on surprising me. I love a good friends to lovers story but this author exceeded all my expectations. This the second book to the Ice Tigers hockey romance. You can read this book as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down until the end. It only took me a full day to devour this amazing story.

Emilia’s life looks perfect but deep down it is far from it. She is the granddaughter to the Ravelli family. Emilia gets out to clear her head and she runs into a very handsome stranger. She ends up going way too far and now her life is going to change. Emilia is sent to Boston to manage The Ice Tigers and she is in complete shock that her handsome stranger is now her employee. She has a huge secret to tell him but will it ruin them both? Will Emilia find the love that she has wanted since she was a little girl or will she end up alone?

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from them. This is a music romance story that kept me turning pages to the end. This is a well developed story that has characters that are easily connectable and made the story easy to read. Music has been everything to the MC in this story so he became an agent. Now as an agent he gets to do everything he enjoys including finding new talent for his bands. This is where she walks into his life. As soon as he hears her voice he knows she is great for one of his bands and also maybe even for himself. What will fate have in store for these two? They have great chemistry and made me feel as if I was right there with them. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens with these two.

I enjoyed this sweet romance story. This is a newer author for me and I look forward to reading more from them. This is a well written story that has characters that will pop off the pages and into your heart. It is an engaging story where the characters made the story come alive and easy to read. This is Amanda and Kent’s story. Amanda goes after her dream job and thinks she will never look back again. Problem is that she left love behind. Now she finds herself missing him. Fate gives her one chance to fix things with Kent. Now she must remind Kent what they were like together. Will she be able to do it? Will they find their second chance together? This is a really great romance story that I read in one sitting. It is fast paced and kept me turning pages to the end. I highly recommend this book.

This is a shorter historical romance story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. This is a well written story that has characters that brought the story to life. I had no issues connecting with them. They were developed with a lot of heart and soul. This is Sebastain and Geneviere’s story. Sebastian has been looking forward to his vacation at the cottage until he gets there and it has already been rented to Geneviere which he cannot stand. After a swimming accident, he doesn’t know who he is so she conveniently tells him that they are married. Will he remember who he is? If he does, what will happen when he realizes that they are not married but yet she is someone he despises. I enjoyed their chemistry together. I also enjoyed watching them grow throughout the story which made the story easy to read. This was a great rainy afternoon read and I highly recommend it.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming romance by Tammy Mannersly and the story took me to sunny Queensland where the novel is set. In a little town called Montville, on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, art teacher and owner of Unique Art Boutique, Erica Townsend has had one too many failed relationships and so has sworn off love. Meanwhile the women of the town are all gossiping about the very handsome new doctor, Dr. Matthew Garrick. It’s not until Erica has an injuring which results in her visiting Dr Garrick that the two meet and they both feel the instant chemistry and attraction between them. However, Erica remains wary but Matt is determined to win Erica over and prove that if she takes a risk on him and on love, then they could both be very happy together. Unfortunately Matt has a secret admirer who gets increasingly more dangerous the more time Erica and Matt spend together. This was a real feel good novel with enough drama in the storyline to keep me turning the pages and wonderful characters that I felt invested in. I loved Matt and Erica and was totally immersed in their romance and was cheering them on to their happy ever after.

Rebecca Steele Finding The Dream (Rebecca Steele Series #2) by Joanne Patterson

This is the first book I’ve read by Patterson. As the second book in the Rebecca Steele Series it continues to follow the main character on her journey. This is a page turner and will get you hooked.

Rebecca, aka Becky, is a country singer. She keeps a friend at arms length, but things start to bring them closer. An accident causes her to lose her memories of her past. What happens when the past shows up? The quote I choose for Becky is: Let’s take Cassidy shopping and get her some new clothes to wear to the rodeo. Would she like to shop with us?”

Adam, aka Chance, is a rodeo performer. He’s been smitten with Becky since he came to town. He didn’t realize that four years later would bring them together. Can he handle Becky’s past? Can she handle his past? The quote I choose for Chance is: “You are one in a million, Becky Steele and I love you.”

I highly recommend this book for a romantic at heart. It kept me interested from beginning to end. I had a hard time putting it down and didn’t want it to end.

I loved reading the book Better Than Goodbye (Venture Book 1) by Kinney Scott. It is a story that is romantic and had me hooked from the start. I loved reading about the characters of Amanda and Kent. Amanda is a woman who by taking a dream job in California lost the one man that had stolen her heart. When situations align and they are one more together in the same town will they find themselves in each other’s arms again or will they end up saying goodbye for a second time? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I grew to care about what happens to Amanda and Kent with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. The story has romantic moments that heat the pages. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive. There are additional characters that I also enjoyed reading about such as Amanda’s roommate. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you believing in second chances and true love. It is a book that you won’t want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend it.

When you have failed at everything you have been given, can moving half way around the world to manage a NHL team with no knowledge of sports manager or anything amount hockey this could be a recipe for disaster.

Emma is part of a big conglomerate fashion company, but project she has been put in charge of has basically failed miserably. So she is determined to make this a success, people look at her and see the rich kid from a wealthy family but she has a secret she is not prepared to share with anyone.

Matt is a highly trained athlete who wants to do well for his team, but when an italian bombshell walks into the arena will he be able to focus on his career or will love prevail, but once Emma reveals her secret will he be able to forgive her.

I loved this story, the characters chemistry jumped off the page and the story flowed and ebbed into a beautiful story. I loved Emma’s character although at first I thought that she may of had a spoilt brat complex but the way he insurities and emotion came through and I felt like a friend. I was drawn to Matt also after his disastrous love life and you heart just sinks until he meets the beautiful blonde woman for a night of passion as you feel the chemistry between them and for him to get his happily ever after is brilliant.

This is the first book I have read by this author and although this is classed as the second book in the Ice Tigers you can read this as a stand alone book. I would recommend this book and if you’re looking for a great happily ever after story this is it, great holiday read also.

Center of Gravity by Isabella Cassazza is book two of Ice Tigers Hockey Romance. This book is a friends to lovers sports romance and is also a standalone so it can be read in any order.

Emilia loves under her grandfather’s thumb and while everything looks perfect from the outside, she’s a Ravelli after all, not everything is always as it seems. Now she’s being sent to Boston to manage a hockey team after being less than successful in other areas of the family business. Emilia will need to keep up appearances even though her life is about to change drastically. Matt has never faced betrayal the way he is now. It feels like he’s lost everything. The only thing left for him is the chance to win the cup. Then he meets the new team owner. Will these two be able to find themselves again? Will they lean on each other to make up for all they’ve lost?

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was not disappointed. The book flowed so well, the ending came much quicker than I wanted it too. I need to go back and read book one now! These characters are great! I felt for Emilia. You could tell she was trying so hard but nothing really seemed to please her grandfather. Matt felt hopeless but that didn’t keep him from wishing and maybe even dreaming a little. I couldn’t get enough!

This book is one of the grittiest I’ve read in awhile. I didn’t enjoy how graphic Kristina’s life was prior to meeting Trey but at least she kept a decent head on her shoulders to move away from all of the pain she endured. I love the way they not only loved one another but sought out to heal one another’s wounds after a worse past that could’ve taken the both of them down but in different ways. This is a sweet book about resilience, determination and the sweetest love that one can experience. We have to remember the characters are also human but as we all are, they are also flawed but in the best ways possible.

Trey: European Redemption (Russian Mob Chronicles Book 7) by Shandi Boyes was a great 5 star read. I love a good read and this story pulled me right in, the author pushes the boundaries on the topic and grittiness.

This is Trey and Kristina’s (Duchess) story. Trey works for Nikolai who we met in a previous book. Trey is very protective and when he meets Kristina he’s pulled right in by her. There was something about her eyes, something familiar. Kristina was forced into sex-trafficking the last six years and I would consider her a survivor. Trey also has some things from his past that have made him the man he is today.

Can these two put each other back together again?

Overall I really enjoyed this read. My emotions were all over the place, we get so much in one book. I really liked these two characters and the secondary characters added a great element to the story. I will warn that some things in this book may cause triggers for some. I look forward to reading more from this series and author. I love an author who isn’t afraid to give you dark, gritty and so much more. Center of Gravity (Ice Tigers #2)Center of Gravity by Isabella Cassazza
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Center of Gravity is an excellent stand alone sports romance. Emilia is stereotyped as being the Italian princess, but she has been ruled by her grandfather for most of her adult life. Matt is a focused and determined hockey player with no room for distractions in his life. When Emilia’s grandfather buys Matt’s beloved hockey team and puts her in charge it is quickly apparent that they two of them have some unfinished business together (don’t want to say too much as it may spoil the story line.)
I really enjoyed this book, I liked the dynamic between the two main characters and the fact that they were (mostly) always honest with each other. I also liked the supporting characters, which makes me want to go back and read the first book in the series. Highly recommend to fans of the sports romance genre.

Center of Gravity is the 2nd of 3 books in the Ice Tigers Hockey Romance series by Isabella Cassazza. It is the first I have read, but it can be enjoyed as a stand alone novel. I really loved it, and plan to go back and read book 1 next, then the 3rd book. The story is a romance, but it is clean, with only a couple scenes approaching the pg 13 range. The characters were wonderful, even though they both annoyed me at times. It is mostly told from Emilia’s point of view, but Matt had some chapters as well. I like books written so we can understand the feelings of both main characters. Both Matt and Emilia were overly stubborn, but I loved that they put their differences aside and quickly decided to co-parent. Emilia is a strong female lead character, and while Matt is stubborn as can be, he is also a really great guy. There are a lot of supporting characters that I bet will get their own stories, and I look forward to that. I recommend this book and will definitely read more.

This is a sweet romance story that kept me turning pages to the end. I enjoy how this author writes with heart and her attention to details make me feel as if I am right there in the story. I had no problems connecting with the characters as they brought the story to life. This is Gianna and Tyler’s story. Tyler is a new winery owner and he is determined to make his launch a success. Gianna works for the company he has hired to help with marketing. The problem comes in when they do not agree on the plan. Will they agree on more than just a new plan together? His teammate received a letter and shortly after reading the letter commits sucide. After getting hurt, he is sent home. What will happen when he runs into the person who wrote the letter? He decides to hurt them as much as he is angry about his friend. But will his plan backfire on him? He makes such a great character and is my favorite in the story. The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love StoryThe Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story by Kate McGahan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The walls between us: A Borderland Love Story is a historical love story seen through the utter devastation of a drug war.

The story was well written and engaging until the very end, the main two characters are brilliant and the way the author goes through the different cultures and stereotypes which are still in the fore thought today.

This is not normally the type of genre I read but reading the blurb and I instantly felt drawn to this story, the story delves into the world of drug cartels and the horrendous conditions. The story is told through the two main characters who have their own beliefs and opinions which is a great insight to these people’s lives.

If you’re looking for a thought provoking story with a great emotional rollercoaster this is the story for you. I really enjoyed and was drawn in from the first word to the last.

It is a story that pulled me in from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is an amazing story that has me believing in true love and soul mates. I loved reading about the characters of Casey and Sam. Casey is a backup singer who is strong, intelligent, and independent. She loves her sister and her job as a backup singer on tour. When she meets Sam, she begins to hear the melody of a love song begin. Sam is a man who is an amazing drummer and has a deep attraction to Casey. These two feel a deep connection with each other. Just as their romance begins dark clouds roll in. What does the future hold for Casey and Sam? Read this book to find out. The way that this story is written I could feel the energy and chemistry between Sam and Casey. I grew to care about what happens to them with every chapter that I read. The book has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. My emotions went up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are also tense and suspenseful moments. The book Deception by Victoria Saccenti is a story that I enjoyed reading. It is a book that pulled me in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until the final page. It is a story that includes revenge and love. I loved reading about the characters of Joe and Hunter. Joe is a man who is set on revenge because of the suicide of a teammate. Hunter is his target. He starts down a carefully laid path. What would happen if in the process other emotions and feelings begin to form? Hunter is a woman who finds herself drawn to Joe. He is unlike those who have come before. What does the future hold for Joe and Hunter? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what happens next. It is written in such a way the I felt like I was right there with the characters. I enjoyed reading about the bantering back and forth between Hunter and Joe. This book does have very steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I also enjoyed reading about Hunter’s best friend who is always there to help her. I liked that Hunter’s character is strong and intelligent. She has goals set for herself and is determined to achieve them. Don’t miss out on a story that is intriguing and entertaining. I highly recommend reading it.
