Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath is the second book in Amy McKinley’s exciting Mafia Elite series. The series focuses on the Italian American mafia, with book 2 focusing on different characters than book 1 (No Way Out) but with familiar characters returning on the sideline.
Sofia, our heroine in this book, is a fashion designer as well as being a mafia “princess”. So we get a fun insight into the fashion world, with her preparations for Milan fashion week. She’s defiantly independent – driving those who are meant to be protecting her up the wall! I particularly liked her friendship with Katya – against her family’s wishes, but definitely proving to her advantage!
The narrative swaps between Sofia and Enzo’s perspectives. This is particularly effective as Sofia is privy to some big secrets that Enzo knows nothing about. It’s fun seeing both sides of the story!
A word of warning: don’t read this book when you’re meant to be paying attention to your surroundings! I nearly missed my stop on the train I was so engrossed in this book! So read it somewhere safe where you can afford to lose track of time…
This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend starting with book 1 but McKinley gives readers enough background (and a handy character list) that you should be able to keep up if you come in at book 2.

Amy McKinley has done it again! This is the second story in the Mafia Elite series, and I think it was even better than the first. Definitely recommend reading the first book so get a more in depth background and love of the characters, but I don’t think its strictly necessary. There are so many characters that it took me a little bit into this book to remember exactly who they all were! Thank heavens for the list of names and families at the start of the book! All the characters are relatable, the story is a roller coaster, and I did not want to put down! I love a good friend to lovers, so this is definitely my favorite so far. I cannot wait for her next book!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been totally spoiled this week by reading 3 books by 3 of my favourite authors. The first of these is Blood Oath by Amy McKinley. Blood Oath is the 2nd book in the Mafia Elite series. Each book can be read as a standalone but the characters are interconnecting between each book. As Amy McKinley is one of my favourite author’s and this book (as well as book 1, No Way Out) is awesome then I’d recommend you read both, and in order.
We met the main characters in this book Enzo and Sofia in the first book and I was excited that these two got their own book to tell their story. Amy McKinley is a master (or is it mistress) of writing romantic suspense and Enzo and Sofia’s story is another fantastic example of her amazing storytelling skills. I was hooked to this book from the very beginning and loved the amazing journey that I was taken on, right up to the very end.
This book is full of drama, intrigue, danger and suspense. Added to that is the amazing love story of Enzo and Sofia, a couple who captivated my heart.
Worth more than 5 stars. Definitely recommend.

Mafia Romance
Mafia Elite Book 2
By Amy McKinley
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
This is a full novel, book 2, I recommend you follow this series. Some series just need to be read in order. This is Sofia and Enzo’s story. While Sofia is an up and coming fashion designer, there are other things that go with being part of a mafia family. Being the baby of the family and the only girl. Makes her life that much harder. But she wants what every young lady wants. To put her fashion on the runway. Enzo on the other hand is not only good looking but he is part of a mafia family as well. He would do anything to protect Sofia, even if it could get them killed. His goal is to stay away, for her protection. But family secrets have a way of coming to the surface. Now what? Read on and find out what will happen next. No Spoilers!

Amy McKinley has done it once again. The story itself will keep you reading. This is a fast paced rollercoaster of a read. I instantly fell in love with Enzo and Sofia. She is so independent and strong. He is just too hot to handle. He will protect Sofia with his life. Amy McKinley just has a way with her writing technique, she will keep you wanting so much more. That is where I am at this moment. I want more from Amy McKinley… Well Done Amy McKinley! Well Done! ! !

Check In (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 2) by Debra Parmley – Review by Amy Brennan

Check InCheck In by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

To be honest, I wasn’t over the moon for this short novel. Perhaps if I had of read the first installment, Check Out, I would have had more information on the sisters, and wouldn’t have felt thrown into the middle of a story. It really was very cute, and I felt all the emotions I would want to feel in a romantic, dramatic plot line. The way that Len insisted on looking out for Leann and protecting her as much as he was able to be successful in proving to the reader, he was exactly the type of man she needed in her life, and vice versa. It was certainly a whirlwind romance that could have developed in a more natural way if the story was just a little longer, but it was a nice little pick me up for a one sitting read! I will be going back to read Ms. Parmley’s ‘Check Out,’ as I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style. I am glad I picked this up, thank you, Debra!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley

5 +++++ Stars

Oh Lord, I think I have a new favorite Amy McKinley series!! This one has had my heart racing while reading both this one and the first. I was so looking forward to Sophia and Enzo’s story and I must say there were times I lost my breath while reading. Whether because of the suspense, the danger, the love, or the friendship and sacrifices made by these characters, it took my breath away.

I can not recommend reading this as a stand alone, you need the whole of both books to follow this story. I can, though recommend you take notes after each one if you’re not going to read them back to back. I did, but learned I didn’t write down enough so it took me a bit to check back in and get people, names, and relationships straight. This did not in any way take away from the awesomeness of this story and I can not wait till book 3. I also can not wait to have them all and reread them all at one time.

Phenomenal story, with phenomenal writing.

LOVED!!!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath by Amy McKinley is the second book in the Mafia Elite Series. This book centered on Sofia and Enzo. They have always been drawn to each other even when they were kids. When the park they were playing at was attacked, Enzo was there to help Sofia to safety. The two of them made a blood oath then and there with Enzo promising to always be there for Sofia to keep her safe. Of course life has a way of making things difficult and circumstances pull them apart. When Sofia seems to be in the line of sight of a terrible man named Ivan, Enzo must be the one to keep her safe! I loved the fist book in this series but the story of Sofia and Enzo is amazing! Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

’d like to start off by saying I work at a financial institution and when I discovered this book I was super interested. I wondered how the robbery would be explained and if it felt real or like a fake robbery you see on tv. The robbery was tastefully explained and not usually how they go but it was heavily implied that the robbers were not sober which would lead to them not thinking about their actions. I really enjoyed how each character was introduced and described. Hearing from both Len and Leanns Inner voice mail was a great way to explain both of their past trauma. Not going heavy into detail but giving little nuggets or Information so that their actions and thoughts came together. I read this entire book on my hour lunch at work and it made me feel like I needed to pick up the rest of their series immediately.. I mean who needs to clock and back into work when they have a lovely story to read?

Blood Oath: A Friends to Lovers Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 2) by Amy McKinley. No sure how many can relate but I usually have a bit of a hard time changing to a different couple’s storyline within a series. I just think I fall so hard for one set of characters it takes me a bit of mental break to move on. But I have to say I didn’t have that this time. Don’t get me wrong I’m still totally hooked on book ones characters and they still have my heart in a grip. But this author has a way of just making you so excited to see where the series is heading. And I was definitely eager to get Enzo and Sofia’s story. These two captured my heart just as easily. Their chemistry is everything you need in a story it jumps off the pages and they truly bring the story to life. I highly recommend reading this series in order to get the biggest impact of the overall storyline. It’s well written and everything I was looking for in a book two. Way to hit it way out of the park! So excited to see where this series goes next! Five of the biggest stars I can give! Highly recommended!

Caught in Midnight Shadows (The Caught Series Book 4) by Sharleen Scott – Review by Jenni Bishop

Caught in Midnight Shadows (Caught series, #4)Caught in Midnight Shadows by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caught in Midnight Shadows (the Caught Series Book 4) by Sharleen Scott is a suspense romance story. The suspense is palpable in this game of cat and mouse. I was fully engrossed in this mystery the action and drama had me intrigued and hanging on every word. I enjoy the way Sharleen masterfully weaves the threads putting together each of the pieces that make the story come alive. I also love that the story is told in several POV’s which gives the story that much more richness. I don’t nearly enjoy a book half as much anymore if it’s not told in dual/multiple POV’s. Any way I digress.

Aubrey Chartrand just wants to ride but one sexy stranger enters her world and has her rethinking her decision. But is she now in danger or was she a target all along?

Brant Bellamy has left everything behind to find a murder but he finds that not only himself but one sexy bartender, is in danger.

This series should be on your list and should not to be missed.

The second book of the Mafia Elite series did some serious justice. Sofia and Enzo stole my heart and captured my attention in such a great way! Every time I finish a book by this author, I say it’s my favourite that is until I start the next one! Blood Oath was an amazing read – from start to finish I was completely captivated by what I was reading. After finishing book 1 I was really excited for Sofia and Enzo’s story. They feature in book 1 but this is their story and what a story it was. Full of twists and turns, action and excitement I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough. I would highly recommend reading book 1 first as you begin to see in this book how these characters stories are going to become interconnected. I love the way this author does that; she is a very talented author!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sofia is a fashionista who also happens to belong to a prominent family of the mafia in Chicago. Enzo, the next in line to oversee his family’s place in the mafia, is a childhood friend who pulled away after a tragic event involving his sister and the Russian mafia. The two are reunited after a looming threat to Sofia’s safety, sparks fly as the two rekindle a friendship, and romance blossoms. But, they’re also dancing around an uncertain future together as Sofia holds tightly to a secret that could tear Enzo away from her forever.

This is a fast-paced, action filled book that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat; it hints at other secrets and puzzles that are likely to be revealed and solved through the remainder of the series without leaving you hanging with regards to the main plot line. Definitely a series I look forward to continuing, as I’m completely invested in the characters and overall story line.

Caught in Midnight Shadows (The Caught Series Book 4) by Sharleen Scott – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Caught in Midnight Shadows (Caught series, #4)Caught in Midnight Shadows by Sharleen Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a must read for me, it was so well written and defiantly had a strong engagement of the characters that made me invest even more into reading the novel! I loved the story line, as I am a hopeless romantic, but I also love my thrillers, and this one had all that and more! Loved this novel!

I was really hooked at the start, Aubrey and Brant’s meet up was one for the books, literally! You could sense the chemistry and the attraction between the two of them upon first meet. It was for sure, undeniable, even if both characters did not want to admit to it at first glance. Both were coming from a different path of life, and did not want any sort of romance of any kind at this points in their lives. Perhaps though, life would play its part and bring these two souls together? Things happen that relate more less with Brant and his mothers conversation at the very beginning. What ties would that bring in though? As the depth of the story continues on, it gets very real and fast. I am not just taking of passion and romance either, there was someone at prowl that meant to cause harm to people, and to stop the person, as well as protect one another, Aubrey and Brant would have to rely on one another, truly.

For myself, I loved the quick speed of how this story takes off. I loved the small town romance components to this story as well, and I defiantly loved the danger, defiantly added to the character development and the bond they had, mentally and intimately. I did love the character development and how you really got to grow with Brant and Aubrey, but for me I especially loved the component of sometimes life does not go the way you planned, but it turns out even better! Again, loved this book!

Again, for me this was a novel I very much enjoyed, and I will be re-reading it in the future again for sure. How could I not? It was so thrilling and had lights of it it’s own intrigue. It was a good read, that brought on the wonderful romantic aspect as well as romantic suspense. This novel is a must read, no doubt!

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, book 1) by Amy McKinley – Review by Wendy Wary

No Way Out (Mafia Elite, #1)No Way Out by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Told from the alternating perspectives of Max and Liliana, this book tells the story of an American mafia princess whose father only sees her value in how he can marry her off for his best financial gain or benefit. Max is her father’s newest hire with a secret agenda of his own.

When the two decide to become allies against Liliana’s father, things get explosive. Sprinkled with cartel interference, a commission with the Sicilian mafia, and figuring out who can be trusted in the other four American mafia families running Chicago, the pair have their work cut out for them while a romance blossoms between them and a marriage contract looms overhead.

This action-packed novel has a little bit of everything, with smart characters, original writing and a story that’s nearly impossible to put down. Can’t wait to see what’s in store with the other books in this series.

Another heart stopping story in this series. It is filled with everything I come to expect from this author and a mafia story. Undying love, devotion and of course some blood, war and backstabbing between everyone. We dive deeper Into the life of Sofia and her thoughts of Enzo. The relationship between Sofia and Enzo goes back years but has recently faltered. Their connection is electric and can easily be felt coming off the pages. Her family is the best and seemingly the most “normal”. They are a joy to watch between protectiveness and family changes. I love seeing all the families again and smile at all their secrets!

I enjoy how this author drops tidbits of possible future stories interwoven into each story. I read this quickly and look forward to the next in the series!

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley is a mafia romance with a tad bit of suspense.

Tragic events brought them together, and tragic events separated them. Enzo Vitale, the heir to the throne of the Chicago Mafia, would go to any length to keep Sofia safe, but his presence in her life makes her a target. He must safeguard the love of his life at all costs, even if it means keeping away from her, which goes against his entire nature. Sofia La Rosa, a young fashion designer, has been in love with her closest friend for years. Even when a wall of secrets grows between them, she’ll sacrifice anything for Enzo. Secrets, on the other hand, do not remain hidden indefinitely. When Sofia’s role in a previous cover-up is discovered, the adversary is out for blood, leading her to the very guy who promised to be her rescuer at any cost.

. I loved this story and the concept of it as well. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This author has quickly become my favorite and I can’t wait to read more.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley

Amy McKinley, what am I going to do with you? You have me hooked! I enjoyed Lil and Max’s story, however I don’t even think it compares to Enzo and Sofia’s story in Blood Oath.
As children Sofia and Enzo made a blood oath to one another to always keep each other safe. Now as adults that blood oath holds a lot more meaning.
Love for one another that they dare to act on. I get it, in a sense been there done that but at the same time, that man is now my husband. So I can relate to how she wrote the characters in a way.
When love is involved secrets can threaten to destroy the whole thing, especially when those secrets are now what has Sofia’s life in danger! Sofia has to choose the best way to go about those secrets, because she could lose everything she holds dear.
Get ready for a wild ride! Passion and connection to one another neither can deny. There’s so many characters in these books, when’s book 3 coming out? If that’s very much so, I can’t wait for who and what Amy McKinley writes about next in this series.

This is the fourth book in this series which is just as great if not better than the previous three books. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series as well to help your enhancement of this series. This is a romance story that is fast paced and hard to put down. It is an engaging story where the characters bring the story to life. They are relatable and made the story easy, fun and entertaining to read. This is a story about Brant and his mother’s final words to him. He is in search of a man who worked on their ranch years ago. What he didn’t expect was to meet Aubrey. She was going to get on her bike and not look back until she meets him. Now they are faced with a stalker, a murderer and a chance at something neither one was expecting to find. They are really great characters. I enjoyed what they brought to the story and just made the story for me. Their growth and the growth of the plot was great throughout the story. You don’t want to miss this one. I highly recommend this book.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Amy Brennan

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, #2)Blood Oath by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To start this off, I would like to say that I absolutely loved the way the title of this novel is incorporated into the story surrounding Sofia and Enzo, it just makes what it stands for so much more! It’s no secret that Amy McKinley has quickly become one of my favourite authors, and I will be setting out to read all her of her adventures. Typically, my problem with this genre is that there are so many people that you must keep track of, that it takes away from the enjoyment of immersing one’s self into a literary work of art. This is not an issue with Ms. McKinley’s writing at all, especially since you get to know different members within the Five Families of the Italian American Mafia in the first installment.

Overall, Sofia and Enzo’s love story, gave me chills. You cannot help but root for them after all they have been through together, the secrets, the fear, and the hesitation they’ve both held onto for so many years. All this impacting not only their chance for true happiness and love together, but for their friendship that they’ve had for as long as they can remember. Her writing and her ability to allow you to connect with most of the characters that make up the novel, as well as making your mind work, is out of this world. I’m going to be racking my brain until our next adventure, fingers and toes crossed that we find out who the rat is in the Five Families sooner, rather than later. As always, highly recommend and will be reading the third installment “Born in Darkness” ASAP.

FIVE STARS
This is the second book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy Mckinley. This story follows Sofia and Enzo. Sofia is a fashion designer and a Mafia Princess in one of the five families.
The connection between Enzo and Sofia begins at a very young age during a tragic time in both their lives, they have endured so much in their years and the things Sofia has to tell Enzo now are heartwrenching. Will this change everything even more or will they find a way to overcome?
This series is fantastic. I have never been a Mafia romance fan before but this series is really changing my mind on that. There is a fantastic mix of romance, suspense, action, drama and even murder.

Yet again Amy McKinley had me on the edge of my seat from the very first sentence to the very last word. I just couldn’t put it down. I wanted to hurry up and read it to find out what on earth was going to happen next to these gorgeous characters Enzo and Sofia, but at the same time I knew if I rushed it then it would be over way too soon. Gotta say Sofia is a Badass! I just love her.
There is so much action and suspense but at the core of the story is Enzo and Sofia and the love they have for each other. At every turn it seems there are obstacles in their way but if they can band together and face these challenges, then they truly can have everything they have ever wanted. The most important of all of course is each other.
I can’t wait for the next books in the series….I have some hunches and I just need to know if I am right or not!!! the suspense is killing me!!!!

Blood Oath is book two in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. This story kept me on the knife’s edge. Loved everything about this book . The names I loved. The complexity of each personality was individual and eclectic. The unfolding of their love story was a constant tantalising of the senses. Enzo and Sofia’s passionate feelings for each other was evident in each word the author shared. Their connection was enviable and beautiful. Secrets, danger and all.

These types of stories are an insatiable craving. I can never get enough. When Amy McKinley releases a mafia romance, you know you will be swept away by the creativity and blown away by the descriptive substance and rough edged characters. I am forever drawn to the dramatics and suspense. 5 stars.

This is the second book in this series which is just as great as the first if not better. This is a shorter romance suspense story. A short story that packs a lot of action, suspense and romance in a short amount of time. This is a story about Leann who gets a new job at a bank. What will happen when the bank is robbed? Can her boyfriend be their saving grace? This is a great story that I really enjoyed. The characters pull you in from the beginning. They are relatable and keep the story engaging. The author’s use of details made the story feel realistic as if you were right there with the characters. This is an entertaining story that I read in one sitting. I highly recommend this book.

Blood Oath (Mafia Elite, book 2) by Amy McKinley is another explosive romantic suspense story in this series. It’s a no brainer when I see Amy’s name come up I just know the story will be outstanding. I have been patiently waiting for this book and I wasted no time flying through it once I had it. This romantic suspense story is dark and dangerous and full of action, revenge and violence but that is what makes it a great read. I was on the edge of my seat most of the time and the intensity and suspense just pops of the page. The characters are complex and have a lot of depth but you can’t help but love them.
He is the heir to the throne but his enemies know just where to hit him the hardest and that just maybe their biggest mistake.

After years of taking care of her elderly aunt, bartender Aubrey Chartrand plans to ride her new Harley-Davidson out of Angel Beach, Oregon, and may never return. Meeting Brant Bellamy has her reconsidering the decision. He’s sexy, chivalrous, and unlike anyone she’s met before.
But three kids and a cattle ranch aren’t part of her plan.
They are drawn together when both seem to be targeted by a stalker who showed up in town at the same time as Brant. Is it a coincidence, or has the murderer come to Angel Beach to finish what he started?
