The second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops by Amy McKinley was entertaining for sure. Was a very quick, enjoyable read. This was my first McKinley novel, and I did enjoy it. I don’t think you have to read the first one in the series to read this one, I enjoyed it and followed along without the first. There were some good twists and turns, some mystery, and resolutions I did not see coming. There were also elements of the supernatural which was a nice surprise. I would have liked if there was a warning about abuse somewhere, it can be triggering for some. (If I missed that then that’s my bad). The chemistry between the characters was great! Kayla’s story is well written and comes to a conclusion I think many will find emotional, surprising and fulfilling. If you love romance with some mystery then this is a book for you!

Where Flowers Bloom By Nikki Vale 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale. The story will pull you in from the beginning and will not let you go until the final page. It is a romance book that had me lost in the pages. The author does an amazing job of making the storyline and the characters come alive. This is a book that seemed to be over too soon. I enjoyed reading about the dialogue between the characters. The story is well-detailed that I felt like I was right there with the characters. The story had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. Don’t miss out on a romantic, exciting, and entertaining book. I highly recommend it.

When you discover your ideal home, well mansion but you realise you are not the only one living there?
Kendyll is successful within her careers at the moment but her relationship is just surviving so her and her partner decide to make a fresh start but when they try and find a new house her ideas and her partners are different until one day they come across an old mansion which calls to her and she buys it straight off.
This is the first book I have read by this author and have to say I loved this story. It was not quite what I expected but it was better than I could have imagined. I love the paranormal aspect of the story and learning the story behind the plantation owner which was a twist on the history of the mansion.
I loved how the book followed through the path of the parallel with her story and the old history of the house and for Kendyll to really think about her relationship and if it was the best for her in the end. The story was well written and the choice of the secondary characters really enhanced the book and I can’t wait to read more from this brilliant author.

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops #2) by Amy McKinley
Another fantastic read by Amy McKinley. She certainly knows what to do to bring the readers back. Twisted Secrets is a great book, but Bound by Secrets is amazing. Can be read as a standalone.
Kayla comes home running from her ex boyfriend. She doesn’t think about what she’ll run into by going home. When she runs into her ex-lover and her deceased brother’s best friend she knows. The quote I chose for Kayla is: “We need to stay away from certain topics, or we won’t be able to live together. Anything with my brother is at the top of that list.”
Jaxon is still trying to get back to his civilian life. Working as a cop is great but it isn’t something he sees for himself. Running into Kayla makes him think of the past. Will she become a Hale? The quote I chose for Jaxon is: “It was a news alert. Several explosions happened at the same time.”

WOW!!! I don’t even know where to start, this book was brilliant I loved every second of it. There was so much passion, emotion and suspense. Had me laughing at times. Gunner had such a hard childhood it is heartbreaking and Lacey still has so many issues since her kidnap surely these two should be the cure for each other’s demons.

This type of story is not one I would normally reach for but I am so glad I took a chance. This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! The incredible detail throughout made it so easy for me to picture everything playing out in my mind, which was incredibly entertaining.
From the very start I was intrigued and I found myself unable to put this book down as I connected with the characters, I just had to get answers to all of my questions. I honestly loved everything about this book, from each individual character and the relationships between them, everyone and everything added something unique to the story.
This was my first book by this author but it will not be my last! This book has been added to my top favourites and I look forward to reading more from this incredible author asap! I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next one of a kind romance read!

I’m really enjoying this series and this book doesn’t disappoint. This is book 2 in the series and although the characters from book 1 do make an appearance you don’t have to have read book 1 first (although why would you not?)
Jaxon was Kayla’s school crush and her brothers best friend. After the death of her brother Kayla left town and only returns when she is escaping from her stalker boyfriend. Jaxon does not want to miss out on his second chance with Kayla, but he has secrets she won’t be happy about.
There are a few threads running through this book, from both Kayla and Jaxon’s characters, and they will certainly keep you turning pages. The story is really well written and pulls you into the story. Kayla frustrated me a little bit at first, but she was going through so many things at the time that I’ll forgive her. Jason was so sweet and patient, desperately trying to show Kayla that they had a future together.
If you’ve enjoyed any of Amy McKinley’s books before, this one will not disappoint.

This book starts with Kayla Kane staring at the tv where she watches her boyfriend leaving the ring where he has just won his latest fight, but he is leaving with another woman and Kayla is enraged and plans to confront him when he gets home, but what happens when she does prompts her to leave as soon as she comes around. It isn’t the first time she has been abused by him, but this time, he took it too far and so she throws her belongings into a suitcase and bag and grabs her surfboard before putting as much distance as she can between her and the man she is going to leave behind. Jaxon Hale is tying up his stint as a beat officer with the local police where he has been working to see if it is a career he wants to follow, however, he is not happy and has decided to leave to join the team where his older brother works instead. When he goes into his local coffee shop, he is more than surprised to see Kayla, his first love and the woman he has had feelings for half his life, but she is hiding something and he won’t stop until he finds out what it is.
While they were in the coffee shop, an alert came through on Jaxon’s phone which looked like an attack, but when he arrives at the station, he realises that he is going to be getting nothing out of the officer on the case, so when his brother contacts him and confirms his suspicions, he knows that there is something else going on because he should be enjoying his honeymoon and adding into the fact that they can’t contact his brother as he is on a mission, Jaxon feels like he can’t do anything and he doesn’t like that feeling in the slightest. Meanwhile, Kayla goes to visit her parents, but when she gets there, she discovers that they are selling the house and Kayla isn’t happy that she will be losing another bit of her childhood and the memories forged there with her dead brother, but she tries to accept this unwelcome bit of news, but when she heads upstairs to start helping them to pack, she decides to start in her brothers room which she knows is going to be the hardest one to pack away and this is solidified when the memories come flooding back. Later on, she hears another voice and goes downstairs to find that Jaxon is there and it turns out his parents are moving to his old condo and that he came over to find out about paint choices so he could start redecorating so it is ready for them and remembering that there is a spare room, Kayla realises that this is the perfect answer to the situation with Roy and asks if she can stay there and help with the painting, Jaxon agrees, however, she is not sure how staying in the same house as him is going to work seeing as she has had the biggest crush on him for half her life.
As the time passes and Kayla and Jaxon spend more time with each other, they both realise that the time has come to talk about what happened in their past, but also about the present as well and the more they start to learn about the secrets surrounding them, the closer they become, but are the secrets they hold going to be a barrier they cannot surpass, or will they be able to build the future they have always wanted together? As the tension rises and patterns emerge, can the two work together to solve the mysteries surrounding them? This is a fast paced romance with secrets and revelations abound within it, but that is what will keep you reading until the very end.

What a beautifully written romance full of suspense, seduction and rich in content. Where Flowers Bloom is a creatively evolving story of romance with a little history and mystery. It pretty much covered everything I like in a good read. As a first time reader of Nikki Vale’s work, it was a great introduction to her technique. This diverse cast of characters invaded my mind and thoughts, and they are still in my head. They have left a lasting impression. Kendyll was a little difficult to get a read on, but she intrigued me like not a lot of other characters have. Her appeal was incredible and I really enjoyed getting to know her. Wes was a lovable lad that I could not help but be totally enamoured with. For some reason the male characters are the ones I relate to first, and Wes was one of the easiest I found to get into. Tears, wonder, warmth and love were all felt during this book. Throw in Vance and you get a spicy and explosive twist to the tale. The story was set out well and delivered quite a punch. Passion with a punch. This story will keep you on the edge. 4 stars.
Bound By Secrets (Book Two of the Deadly Isles Special Ops series) by Amy McKinley was a great read! Although I like the first book better than this one, this one was great in it’s own way. McKinley handled the woes of an abusive relationship without it being a huge trigger, which was impressive in my opinion. I felt like there should have been a bit more of a backstory with Kayla and Roy’s relationship, and with Kayla and Jaxon’s past. This book had a slower build-up in my opinion versus the first one, and wasn’t as thrilling. However, there was an unexpected twist that I loved and suspense at the very end. All in all this was a really good read and I can’t wait for the installment in this series!

From the first chapter I knew this was going to be an emotional wonderful read. And boy was I right. The characters were so beautifully crafted and the storyline moved seemlessly. Everything felt very tangible and relatable. I felt as though I was alongside the characters and watching the beautiful imagery unfold. Just a beautiful book of emotion and heart. Loved it.
This is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops Series and I loved it. The author does an amazing job of grabbing your attention right at the beginning and not letting go. I love the mixture of romance and danger and the twists in the book is something I never saw coming.
Kayla has it all from the outside including the rich professional boyfriend. What people don’t realise is that the boyfriend is violent and abuse. After an incident that nearly cost Kayla her life she is forced to flee. She arrives home and gets help from an unlikely source.
Jaxon has always loved Kayla but after Kayla’s brother died in a car accident their relationship failed. Now he has her back in his life and he plans on keeping her there no matter the cost. Can Kayla forgive Jaxon for all the secrets he’s kept surrounding her brother? Can Kayla trust Jaxon enough to accept his help? Will she remain free of her ex boyfriend or will he seek her out for leaving him?

Quinn running from her past
Walker is not a nice person he’s vicious. He got worse over time. He’s manipulation is beyond what you thought.
This is such an emotional listen. This is things that happen in real life it can be hard to listen to. The way that this is portrayed is one of the best I’ve ever know. There is alot of history and side effects from family history.

Where Flowers Bloom A Romantic, Modern to Historical, Mystery By Nikki Valerie ☆☆☆☆☆ This full length novel has it all. Get ready to experience it all as well. This is a must read for those over 18. Due to adult content as well as steamy, frightening romance.
Kendyll, an author is about to take the adventure of a lifetime. Buying and moving into a new home is an adventure all on its own. But this house has a lot of history as well as needing to be brought to life. Kendyll has been engaged to Vance for years and is ready for the next step. But is Vance? Will this home be of his liking? Because Kendyll is about to venture into this historic home and make it her own.
Nikki Valerie is quite the writer. This story has it all! Her story is fast paced and will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love the characters and the parts they play. Some of this book feels like home. So much so I can see the Happily Ever After. Can you? This book holds a lot. So take the time to enjoy it as I have. Well Done Nikki Vale! WELL DONE!
5 stars! Excellent! I was hooked on this book just as much as the first one. This book can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading them in order, as it gives some history on the other characters. I was excited to see this book was about Jaxon. I liked the connection of Jaxon standing in for the current chief of police who happens to be Kaylas father. My heart broke for poor Kayla having to deal with an abusive boyfriend, and it seems he has no problem in taking it to the extreme of trying to kill her. I swooned when Jaxon would stop at nothing to help Kayla and make sure she stayed safe, I love second chance at love. All of the suspense, drama and romance really made for an awesome story. Amy McKinley is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with the way she can tell a story, I was kept on the edge waiting to see what was going to happen next and was blown out of water with the twists and turns I didn’t see coming. Who is up next!?

Another Amy McKinley story with love, misunderstandings, adventure, missed opportunities, 2nd chances and sexy times. Another story worth reading. Bound by Secrets, Deadly Isles Special Ops book 2 is about Kayla and Jaxson, the past they share and the future they want. But the present is trying to kill Kayla, making the future look anything but bright. This story starts out with violence but with hope as well. The journey that Kayla takes is full of surprises, including the one that got away, Jaxson.
I enjoyed this story with all the emotional ups and downs the characters had to face. Looking forward to reading more in this series and seeing what happens next with the other Special Ops.

Capturing Fate is a psychological thriller/suspense/action with a dash of paranormal and romance added in. Abbie Roads is one of my go to authors, and I’m so glad I read this fast paced thrill ride. The twistand turns had me on the edge of my seat, and the story had me up long into the early morning hours. I just couldn’t put it down and I have to say it was well worth the lost sleep. When gruesome tragedy uncovers a serial killer’s twisted agenda, Daughter and Dolan must help one another if they hope to survive. Can they stop the body count from rising, or will they find their only purpose from the start was to be pawns? This is a standalone novel but to better understand Dolan, I recommend reading book 1 first. Abbie Roads is a wonderful author. She doesn’t disappoint the reader. Step into another wonderful world full of twists and turns. The best way to describe this series is combination of paranormal and suspense.

Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale, was an unexpected, beautiful, and gripping read that I could not put down. I was drawn in by the blurb and cover, Nikki Vale being a new to me author, but I will for sure be reading more of her books as soon as possible. Vale has a knack for writing a detailed and romantic read with so many more layers than you’d normally expect in a romance read. I was totally sucked in to the beautiful scenery, the past and present tidbits, the haunting that added much needed mystery and intrigue. I even was completely taken by surprise with how this book came to an end. I won’t divulge more details than what you get with the blurb and teasers because this is one that would be sad to ruin with spoils. This is one you do not want to miss though and that I can guarantee.
This is the kind of story I can get down with! Intense, fast-paced, and plenty of action as you are brought into Dolan and Daughters story. And while this this the second in the series, you don’t need to read the first one to understand this one. Dolan is an FBI agent and after Daughter meets him, she knows there is something between them. Circumstances prevent that at first and they endure a rough road. Their journey is an epic read!!!

WOW!! What a book! This is my first read by this author and after reading this I have no idea why I haven’t read everything available.
This one had me all messed up (in a good way) right from the start. I loved every single thing about this story, even the parts that totally ticked me off LOL I was completely unsure till towards the very end how this story was going to play out and I love it when I read a book and it absolutely can not be considered predictable.
Not going to give any part of this away so will mention how I connected immediately with these characters, I also could visualize everything written and really felt like I was there. This was amazing. The very best part for me is that this is not my genre, I normally can not get into stories like this, but this author blew those thoughts away and I want to read so much more of her work now!
It seems this is the 2nd in this series but I only know that from looking at the book list so it absolutely can be read as a standalone. I was never confused and never even caught on that there was another book before this one.
Read this, I’m not even kidding..it is a WOW kind of book that I know I will want to reread in the future.
This was a really interesting book to listen to. I did wonder when I read the synopsis how the narrator would get the authors words to come across as they are meant but I was really impressed. The story itself was really emotional at times and hearing Quinn’s words read to me felt like she was really telling me her story.
I really enjoyed listening to Anguish and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

I can already tell that this series is going to be just as amazing as her previous one; Twisted Secrets is full to the brim of action and romance. Xander and Riley’s story was great to read, I really enjoyed the characters – especially Xander who is everything I wanted him to be and more!! I am so excited to read the rest of this series! I can’t wait for more!!

I am loving this series so much! I really loved book 1 and couldn’t wait to dive into book 2 and I wasn’t disappointed at all! Kayla and Jaxon were just wonderful to read about, I loved them both from the very beginning and I was so invested in their story throughout. I loved that when they met again there was this lovely genuine connection between them. Both of them were really lovely characters. There were some unexpected twists in the story too which made the story exciting to read. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!

The second in the Deadly Isles- Special Ops series, Bound by Secrets is just as exciting as its predecessor! Once again, we are in the beautiful city of Honolulu, this time with Jaxon Hale and Kayla Kane, his high school best friend’s little sister. Kayla is outrunning her abusive ex-boyfriend when she runs into her childhood crush while returning to her parents’ home; Jaxon is working as an interim-police officer while Kayla’s father- the police chief- recovers from heart surgery, and is pleasantly surprised that she is back in town, but worried about the man who hurt and scared her so badly. Bound by Secrets follows the two former friends and lovers while they work through their shared history and heartache, and through the current threat to her life. Just as before, I could not put down Amy McKinley’s book once I started!! The characters are richly created, and the scenery is as beautiful as in reality. There is a bit of cliché in a girl and her late brother’s best friend finally coming together after years of hurt between them, but the impact that the late Keiran Kane had on his friends and family adds a kind of sweet twist on the tale. I’m excited for the last installment to come out in March!!

Bound by Secrets is the 2nd book in Amy McKinley’s Deadly Isles Special Ops series. It is pretty similar theme as the 1st book. I really love these books, and cannot wait for them to merge into the Gray Ghosts series. While you do not have to read in order, you really should read book 1 as well, because they are both great. This story focuses on Jaxon, another Hale brother, and Kayla. Kayla is escaping a bad relationship, one she nearly died from. Upon returning back home, she runs into her childhood crush. Despite her feelings for him, he is the best person to stay with, and keep her safe. The characters both have good backstory and their chemistry is great. I love that they have a history and are friends before lovers. McKinley is so good at keeping things a secret, and keeping the readers hooked throughout. I did not piece together all the pieces of this puzzle until the very end. I did not see in coming, much like book one. I highly recommend this story, and cannot wait to read book 3, which I imagine tells the story of the last Hale brother.

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2) by Amy McKinley was a great 5 star read.
Kayla is in a relationship that takes a dark turn and she runs, she’s done but she knows he won’t give up on her that easily. She goes home but she knows she has to stay alert. When she sees Jaxon old feelings come back.
Jaxon was Kayla’s brother’s best friend and she was off limits. But when they finally gave in to their feelings tragedy hit and that was the one and only night they had. Now that she is back in town he is determined to never lose her again. He agrees to her staying with him and they quickly discover they still have the chemistry and attraction from before.
Overall this was a great read. I felt like I had several different stories going on. We have several twists and turns. There was an even bigger twist towards the end that totally threw me off and had me thinking WTH. All of the characters added a great element to the story. We get a couple of steamy moments. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing and I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

Bound by Secrets is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. The story centres around Kayla, a young woman who has found herself living with an abusive man who she thought she loved, when she decides to leave him he is not happy with the so she runs, straight back to her family in Honolulu but her childhood home is haunted by memories of her past. Her brother, who tragically died and his best friend, who was Kayla’s first love Jaxon. Jaxon is shocked when he see’s Kayla again after so many years. His feelings for her haven’t changed and his protective instincts kick in straight away. As well as hiding from her abusive ex and rekindling her lost love, Kayla starts looking into her brothers death more closely but she doesn’t like what she finds. I enjoyed this book, it has a good storyline, likable characters and a good twist in the tale. Will definitely look for more books by this author.
