Excellent! I was hooked on this book just as much as the first one. This book can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading them in order, as it gives some history on the other characters. I was excited to see this book was about Jaxon. I liked the connection of Jaxon standing in for the current chief of police who happens to be Kaylas father. My heart broke for poor Kayla having to deal with an abusive boyfriend, and it seems he has no problem in taking it to the extreme of trying to kill her. I swooned when Jaxon would stop at nothing to help Kayla and make sure she stayed safe, I love second chance at love. All of the suspense, drama and romance really made for an awesome story. Amy McKinley is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with the way she can tell a story, I was kept on the edge waiting to see what was going to happen next and was blown out of water with the twists and turns I didn’t see coming.
