Descendants of Time and Death (The Gods’ Scion) by Winnifred Tataw – Review by Sara Oxton

Descendants of Time and Death ( The Gods' Scion, #2)Descendants of Time and Death by Winnifred Tataw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Descendants of Time and Death by Winnifred Tataw a five-star read worth your worship. This is number two in the Gods Scion series and I would say pick up number one if you can, but if you cant then give it a go as the author does a great job with world building and character development in this story and you really do feel part of the story, there is so much going on in this story, and I don’t want to give the secrets away so I am keeping this short and sweet, as the author does a great job of this story and you would be sorry to miss it.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Of Magic and Scales by Natalina Reis a magical five-star read. I really enjoyed the mystery and the sounds of the ocean will just enrapture you. The world building and character descriptions are well done and will help you settle into the story, the murder mystery elements and the romance blend together to make you feel the story. It wasn’t my favourite M/M story, but it was well done and a good story overall and shows us the talent that Natalina Reis has as an author.

Endless Night (Dylan Hart Book 2) by R.M. Gilmore – Review by Sara Oxton

Endless Night (Dylan Hart #2)Endless Night by R.M. Gilmore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Endless Night by RM Gilmore a five-star read that you won’t want to end. This is number two in the Dylan Hart series and follows Dylan on the amazing journey they call life, if there is a limit this character can push they will. This is such a fast paced, thrilling read that is so well described you will feel part of the story, feel like you are there in NOLA with them. I enjoy the secondary characters and the twist that we get with the bestie, that just kept it real as that’s life for some of us. But there are other who step up to the plate, I’m just not sure how far they stepping yet. This was a great second story and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Denial (Hero High Book 1)Denial by Mina Chara
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Denial by Mina Chara a four-star read that you won’t be able to deny. This is number one in the Hero High series and shows promise for the rest of the series, this was such a short read, I latterly started it thinking I would read a couple of pages and then start some work, but I started it and finished it and then started the work. Friday is the main character and she will make you smile, she is such a firecracker, watching her story will just keep you hooked. The rest of the series cant come son enough as I want to see what will happen next.

A Moore Affair (Moore Family Saga Book 4) by Michele Sims – Review by Sara Oxton

A Moore Affair (Moore Family Saga #4)A Moore Affair by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Moore Affair by Michele Sims a fantastic four-star read. This is number four in the Moore Family Saga and I would advise you read them in order, as I have missed one and only realised half way through this one, I didn’t feel very lost but I will have to read a bunch before I go back to read it as I spoiled it for myself. Bella is about to find that marrying Miles may be more than she realises, and it may be more bite than she can chew. But you can see the love that she and Miles have for each other, the author does a great job of bringing you into their story. This is a great series and the dram will keep you hooked and bring you right into the story. If you haven’t picked it up go back and start at number one and enjoy the whole series.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sara Oxton

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen a five-star read that will bite back. This is the first story in the New Orleans Nocturnes series and what a start, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the rest of the series. This was so funny, do not drink and read as you will be spitting water out everywhere. It has just the right amount of sass and humour, this turns your typical supernatural romance on its head and rights it all again. Jane is great, I really didn’t think I would like her at first, but I really warmed to her as well as some of the other secondary characters. The banter and back and forth really kept you guessing, this series show such great promise and I can’t wait for number two.

Indebted to the VampiresIndebted to the Vampires by Erin R. Bedford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Indebted to the Vampire by Erin Bedford a five-star read with bite. This is the first novel in the House of Durant series and shows us what a great series this is going to be. I did waver over this one as at times I was wondering if I would give it three stars, but then it would pull me back in and just make the story great again. Piper was just full of sass and spark, she made me smile and boy did she bring all the boys to the yard. Piper was so clumsy and has this amazing inner dialogue that will make you snort with laughter. I can not wait to sink my teeth into the next one of this series as mmmm these boys just have something a little extra and it’s not priceless vases.

Marked for Death (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Sara Oxton

Marked for Death (Gray Ghost #6)Marked for Death by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Marked for Death by Amy McKinley a five-star read that shows the true mark. This is number six in the Gray Ghost series and each one goes from strength to strength, Keegan Hunt steps up to the plate this time and brings Caraccas to life. You can feel the heat and danger to this story, you can feel the romance and become part of the story as its so well written. As always, this author keeps the action levels so high that you can’t put it down. This could be read as stand-alone, but I adore the series and have enjoyed reading them all, but I am left all a float wondering if there will be a lucky number seven.

The Scene by R.M. Gilmore a thrilling five-star read. This is the first novel in the Dylan Hart series and what a start, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the rest of the series. Dylan Hart just made me smile so much, honestly the character was sublime, there was just something warm and fuzzy with a scrappiness to it. The thing is Dylan is great, but the rest of the characters just brought out so much of the story, it had me laughing one-minute biting my nails in the next. This was just an engaging and compelling story that you would be sad to miss.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Serenade by T.K. Lawyer a unique four-star read. I enjoyed this story, it wasn’t the usual story that we get when reading about wolf shifters, this had a great spin to it and made a great story. I love taking a chance on a new to me author and this one definitely is one I will be looking for again as I enjoyed this one overall, I did feel that it could have been a little more polished at times, but overall very good. Eva was such a compassionate character, she makes you warm to her, and Kingsley pulled me into him, there was just something special about him. I can only hope to grab something else from this author to see what will come next.

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth #1) by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Sara Oxton

Music Man (Romance in Rehoboth Book 1)Music Man by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Music Man by K.L. Montgomery a five-star read that is like music to your ears. This is number one in the Romance in Rehoboth series and what a start, I am in love already, I have read the rest of the series and gone back to the start for this one and can attest that they can be read as standalone as they set in the same amazing place with some interacting characters but not in each other’s pockets, best of all worlds. This brings to us what I have come to love from this author and realness and a harsh look at life as it really is, but with a heart warming spin that sows us that just because there are wicked people in the world doesn’t mean deep down we have to join them, and just because you see the pretty outside doesn’t mean you see pretty inside and vice-versa, I love how the author shows us that side of life. I simply adored Claire as she has this amazing inner monologue that just made me relate to her infinity. Do not miss this story as it will bring music to your life.

The Explorer (Mountains Series #6) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Sara Oxton

The Explorer (Mountains, #6)The Explorer by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Explorer by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read you would climb mountains for. This is number six in the Mountains series, this one can be read as stand-alone, but the series is amazing, we have met Abby the main character of this one before as she is the daughter of one of the main characters from some of the earlier books, but this one Abby comes into her own and we get to know more about her as a woman. This author shows us again how to deal with issues we all face in a more inclusive manner as she shows us how to be body positive and just accepting of sexuality no matter the form it takes. Abby is growing up and we get to go on the journey with her, it’s such an insight into her mind, and its like being a fly on the wall of a young person’s life. This really brought some amazing characters to life and I can only hope we get to hear more from them.

Love is What You Bake of it (Meraki, #1)Love is What You Bake of it by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love is What you Bake of it by Effie Kammenou a five-star feast of a read. This is the first novel in the Meraki series and my first by this author, and I will be eager to read the rest of the series as this one did have a couple of dips and undercooked bits, but overall was a nice solid and sweet bake and left a lovely after reading taste. Kally was a great character, I immediately warmed to her and loved her aprons and the café, you could almost smell the coffee beans in the air. The Coffee Klatch just sounded like a great place to be, and Max well he sounded like the kind of man you could be proud of in his amazing uniform, even if he doesn’t feel like people should be proud of him. This was a great story and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into number two to see what flavour that one will be.

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Study In Spirits by Byrd Nash a five-star show stealing read. This is number two in the College Fae Magic series, and flows well from the first novel and just continues with the great story. There is something special about the characters in this story, I like how we have many of the same characters as the first story, but some new to keep it fresh, the characters have such depth to them they will surprise you. The whole premise of this story is one that brings a fresh look at the genre, this really is a great story, there are some great friendships shown despite the differences between characters, its nice to see the difference shown and overcome. I enjoyed the flashbacks in this story, they just added another layer to the story. If you enjoy a good story and a bit of fantasy, then you won’t go wrong reading this series.

Black BladeBlack Blade by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Black Blade by Alexander Charalambides a cutting four-star read. This was my first read by this author and I hope it wont be the last as I enjoyed the writing style, there was action a plenty and magic and fun to keep the story going, it really did manage to keep a pace well. Its told by several POV’s and that was one thing I struggled with, as I couldn’t keep up, but to be honest it could be me and the place I am in right now, so give it a go and see what you think. The one thin I did really enjoy was fate/destiny story added something special as its always something that has attracted me. The characters are well developed, and the story is good, so dig in and enjoy.

I have loved reading this author before, but this one just went to the next level, I was an emotional wreck after reading this one, I was so emotionally invested in this story, I felt like it was a part of the equation. Be warned that when you start this story, you will not be able to put it down for nothing, I didn’t even get up to refill my wine glass I was so into this story. Devils Spawn by Manda Mellett a five-star read that you will worship. This is number 6 in the Satan’s Devils MC Colorado Chapter and I would recommend you read them n order as you get the best out of it that way, they just build on each other and you get sucked into the style of writing. This one has a lot of things that will upset some, but the story is one that needs reading there was just something special about it. It is an MC story, so its gritty and racy to the raw. There is a great underlying story to this that I don’t want to get into as I don’t want to spoil the story as its one you need to read. Manda Mellett is one of those writers that will surprise you with writing that will suck you in and spit you out with a different outlook.

I adored this story, Jacquie Biggar just pulls it out of the bag, this is number two in the Men of WarHawks series and they can be read as stand-alone as I haven’t read the first, but I will be going back to read it. This was a great red, it was funny, sassy and filled with anticipative drama and just made me smile so much. Roy was someone I warmed to, his psycho ex just pushed me to grow to like him and in the end the way he falls for a certain someone just warmed me up. IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3)IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Irresistible Valentine filled with five-star reads. I love Anthology’s like these as they bring so many great authors together, so you can read old favourites and then find new authors as well. Each story will show you something to make you smile, each one brings something special to the collection. My favourite’s are Tamara Ferguson with Two Hearts Reconnaissance and I adore this one as even though its teenagers, I remember what that was like, she shows us expertly how you fear life will end if you don’t see the other part of your soul immediately. Alicia Street with Never Lovers, a great story with a fabulous twist that will keep you on your toes and then finally Jacquie Bigger who brings us The Player and this one, well this one had that extra special sauce to it and just had a little extra sparkle as it involves a player in more ways than one. If you are in the mood for some great reads then pick this collection up.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Red Riding Hood (Down the Rabbit Hole) a five-star read that would have you going into the woods. This is a fabulous selection of short stories by different authors, all telling their own version of Little Red Riding Hood, each story has a different take, some do different genres and some just turn it its head. This is filled with compelling stories and I loved them all, but I have to say Autumn Sand puled it out of the bag, maybe its just my personal circumstances right now, but that one touched me close. Another two that I really felt deserve special mention as they both either told a great story, or just had that extra special something and they were Cloaked by Lia Fairchild and Amy Allen. Well done all on these amazing stories.

This is number nine in the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance series, but they can all be read as stand-alone, I have read a couple of the series but not them all and don’t feel like I’m missing anything. FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY: Flowers in December, Coming Home, Second Chance by Jane Suen – Review by Sara Oxton

FLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGYFLOWERS IN DECEMBER TRILOGY by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Flowers in December Trilogy compelling and heartfelt trilogy.
Flowers In December a read that will move you. This is a heartfelt and compelling read about love, loss and grief and depending on your relationship with your own parents depending on how much you will get out of this book as we get to hear the story of Connor Norton a young man who goes on a surprising journey of self-discovery. The only fault I found with this was that I could have read so man more pages. Each of the character had their own part of the story to tell, even the tom cat had his part to play. Just like the other works I have read by this author a very enjoyable read overall.
Coming Home a read that will welcome you home. This a great story that even though has elements of Christmas it doesn’t need to read at that time of year. This is such a powerful story and deals with matters that not all find easy to read, the way the author manages to deal with it so gracefully in such a short number of pages will surprise you.
Second Chance a read that will bring flowers to your life. The emotions you will see in this story are so strong that they are palpable, you can almost taste the emotion. This is a compelling story and shows us what a truly amazing writer Jane Suen is.

Cade (Default Distraction Book 3)Cade by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Cade by A.S. Roberts a five-star read that beats to its own drum, a drum beat that will make your heartbeat faster. This is number three in the Default Distraction series and they just go from tempo to tempo building the music in your heart. I have loved this series so hard, I love reading but it doesn’t always blend into my real life, I usually keep it separate but every time I wear my DD hoodie I get asked about the band and I explain that they make music that makes your heart sing and when people ask will I have heard of them and I explain only if you read a brilliant book, they look at me funny but I don’t care my love is so great. Cade Morello could have anything he desires and his band mates know that, they know his family and his tastes so you can see why his choices would make for difficult decisions as we all know family make us think twice especially when it may break the family we have built for ourselves. I loved this one, it really sucked you in, I didn’t think I could love anyone harder than Raff, but the tattooed bad boy that is Mr Morello well, he just created a new heartbeat for me to go by. I love the dynamics of this one and the underlying stories that needed to be heard to get the full picture and I love how you et just enough information to know what is happening but not enough to know everything. Well done on a fantabulous read.

Casey reminds me of so many amazing women I have read in the past, this is a very busy genre and you always come across similar concepts, but the writing in this one has a freshness to it and fight to keep you hooked. This is action packed and keeps going in every page, I felt like I had been part of an epic story when I finished and its short enough to read quickly, do yourself and favour and pick this story up. Mountains Series Boxed Set: (Books 1-3)Mountains Series Boxed Set: by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains series boxed set (Books 1-3) by Phoebe Alexander filled with five-star reads that you need to read.
Mountains Wanted. This is a great story James and Sarah are both such good characters that you can understand where they are coming from and why they feel the ways they do. Sarah is a great character and one that this author has a way of writing in such a manner that you can’t help but feel compassion and passion for her, understand what makes her tick. If you are looking for something fun and passionate then you need this series.
Mountains Climbed. This part of the series will cause true conflict within your soul, James and Sarah in your heart you know they are destined to be together, but they aren’t. James is set to marry his high school sweetheart, because that’s what you do isn’t it… Especially when Sarah has moved on with Garrett, but even if we know they should be together, it doesn’t always make it so. That’s what I like about this author, the passion is there, but you don’t always get what you want, and also the way the characters interact with the secondary characters, that’s nice, its well done and adds depth to the story.
Mountains Loved. James and Sarah have truly climbed mountains for their love, but mountains can be dangerous much like love, and you may climb up safely, but you don’t always make it down safely. This is a compelling drama and James and Sarah each tell their own story, its one that is difficult and honest but it’s also very real. Do not miss this story, you need to get this story and series in your life.
