Here is a self-help guide that might actually work. Of course, you have to do the homework and just like with most things, this will work if you do.

I really liked the way Montgomery wrote this book. Like she’s talking to a friend. And don’t friends want their friends to be happy and healthy? This book makes me feel like Montgomery wants me to be happy. Happiness just may start with loving your own body! (Regardless of your current size!)

This book is easy to read and flows well, touching on many topics that affect a “fat girl” from hating body parts to media “expectations” to diets and fads. Many sections of this guide have “homework” or a journaling assignment. Can you read this book without doing the homework? Of course you can but if you truly want to love your body, do the work. That’s my ”Bopo Meditation”: Do the work.

I just finished reading this book and I have to say first off, BRAVO! Amazing read, and very eye opening and made me more self aware of things I think or say, as i have a 6 year old daughter who is watching and listening to everything.
Now I read in here that the author would like to hear from someone on the skinny side of things and I’ll start this off with saying, my whole life (I’m 32) I have been tiny. I’ve had 3 kids and being pregnant was the only time in my life the scale ever went over 100lbs. To me, that was a hard pill to swallow seeing the number go up so much every appointment as it was not a normal thing for me to see. I knew it was normal and needed and I didn’t change anything I was doing as I wanted to do the best for the growing child in me but it took until my 2nd pregnancy to get over the shock and just guess how much I grew.
My whole life i was labeled the skinny girl, told I needed to eat more , presumed to have an eating disorder etc and with that I can put myself in others shoes as, yes skinny people get bullied too. Not to the extremes I’ve read or heard about for those larger than me, but its all coming from the same malicious place.
This book has kicked me into wanting to journal with my 6 year old as she, unlike me, puts on weight at a speed I’m not used to personally or compared to her older & younger brothers and that’s ok because its her body as we are all different.. She’s beautiful, bright and doesn’t know or care how she looks and that’s my goal to keep with her into loving herself as we’ve never said a negative thing to her, as I remember what it feels like to hear things .
For years, I cried as I didn’t feel like a girl because I have little to no chest. I can go without a bra and no one would notice and I hated that, made me feel less than. Then when I started to accept the fact at age 15, my mom who was in the same boat genetically, got surgical breast lift procedures by Dr. Hyman in the New York City area and that started my plan for after I was done with having children that was a must do. She was happier, able to wear whatever she wanted and just seemed to be ‘whole’. I still get the urge to book an appointment just to see, but I have a Husband who tells me often he loves me for me and its starting to sink in that I’m perfect how I am.

For me, I feel genetics do play a part as the majority of my family is thin, I remember the story of my maternal grandmother she was newly pregnant with her 8th child and she was 98lbs, so that plays a role and who are we to judge something that many struggle with and have almost zero control over. You can’t change your genetic makeup but this book helps teach to embrace you for you and to love who you are.
This feels like rambling now but I don’t care. No matter your body type, read this book, do the journals and love yourself for who you are because there’s only one you here.

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery a positive five-star read. I have enjoyed several of this authors works and always found them to be body positive but this just brought it to the next level, we get to hear the author tell us about their own story, and if like me you struggle with your weight, it just adds an extra voice to the one in your head, and to me that extra voice is a welcome one as its being nice for a change. I enjoyed the style of writing as its not your typical in this type, there is a lightness, freshness and something extra as well. I have read this from cover to cover and devoured it, but I am sure I will be dipping in and out as its filled with messages that you can take day by day as well as information, journals and story’s about how to love yourself no matter who you are or what your size.

What a great book to start off the New Year with. It is a message I want to take forward with me through the year, and the rest of my life. This topic is one that doesn’t just touch close to home, it smashes in the front door.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L Montgomery is a bit different from her other books- but still has her wit, humour and positive messages stamped all over it.
This book is like sitting down and having a coffee and chat with a close friend. It lays everything out and doesn’t pull any punches- but in a really helpful and uplifting way. It gives inspiring advice, helpful hints, motivational quotes, and even a kick@ss playlist to go with your new attitude.
So, if like me, you have struggled with body image issues, and loving the skin you’re in- then this is definitely the book you need to help adjust your mindset and give you the positive inspiration to move forward with a new perspective and respect for yourself.
Thought provoking, real, and inspiring!

Thank you, Ms. Montgomery!

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery was an amazing read. It is full of life changing inspiration and is helpful to more than just one specific population. It has humor as well as some difficult moments for readers to work through. It is very helpful and also encourages journaling along with journal prompts. I have only done a few prompts but really wanted to finish reading the material. This is a book that readers well definitely look back to over and over again. I really felt Montgomery speak to me on a whole different level with this book. It is excellent and I highly recommend it.

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery is a must read. It was refreshing to read from an author who is so honest and truthful. She even begins by not apologizing for the amount of swearing that will take place in the book, which I loved. The layout of the book makes it easy for a reader to pick up with whatever topic they may need, or read it from cover to cover. The writing that goes along with the topics help to drive the points home for the reader. This is not a “get thin quick” guide, this book helps the reader learn these lessons and be able to work them into their everyday lives. Rome was not built in a day and this same mentality applies to a positive body image. I highly recommend this story to anyone that isn’t feeling themselves, whether a “fat girl” or not, because we could all use a little more positivity in our lives.

This book is a must have, and I don’t mean just for the ‘fat girl’ either, everyone, especially teen girls should get to experience the way this book shows you to love yourself. One of my favorite things about KL Montgomery is she often includes playlists with her novels in the fiction world but she did her too and I freaking loved it. I have been dying to get my hands on this book since the moment I saw it was being written. We all need to learn to embrace our inner fat self and see ourselves for more than what is our body type. This book shows you that you can make yourself over and your esteem can rise without killing the vibe, it can be fun and freeing to love who you are and that is very much a present thought throughout.

Now I have started this book but I have not completely finished it because it is set up like a journal as well as a book. It gives lots of writing ideas that will help you to dive deep into your thoughts and patterns to see where you need to spend the most time focusing. I think this book is going to be a journey for myself and I won’t rush through it. Instead I have it post-it notated to split it up and savor each moment. It also includes motivational and fabulous quotes for every single day of the year so I look forward to opening this book and reading the daily affirmation/quote. I am excited to share this with my daughter when she turns thirteen this summer as well. She too has a body that she will have to learn to love in a society that preaches we are unlovable. I can’t wait to see what this book will bring the both of us. While you savor this one you can grab many body positive romances to read from KL Montgomery too! Bonus! I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us this year!

The Fat Girls Guide to Loving Your Body b K.L. Montgomery is one of those books that you experience rather than read. It is such a relatable and engaging book and it is something that I think everyone needs to read.
I was familiar with K.L. Montgomery through her romcom work and knew that her writing style was right up my street: I’m not normally one of self-help, love yourself type books however this one completely struck a cord. I don’t know if it is because of how matter of fact I found her to be or if I just happened to be in the right mindset for it but I connected with this book in a way I haven’t don’t for a long time.
I might not share all the exact same struggles as Krista but you can easily see your own life reflected in what she was saying. This book really made me look at things in a different light and want to be more positive.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough and it has already made my must read list for 2020 – it will take some doing to beat this one I think!!!

The Fat Girl’s Guide To Loving Your Body is a must read for anyone who is carrying a few extra pounds (or a lot of extra pounds) and who is unhappy with their body. As an obese, probably morbidly obese lady (yeah, I hate that term too) so much in this book spoke volumes to me. I was a chubby teen who went on my first diet at 18. I slimmed down to 8 stone for my wedding, only to go up to 16 stone later.
K.L. Montgomery is an author that I love. She doesn’t write about stick insect, Barbie doll heroines in her books. She writes about curvy ladies, ladies with bigger butts and no thigh gaps and I love her for this. In this book she writes about how we should love our bodies no matter what shape and size they are. I also love one of the mantras she used several times – you do not have to be pretty.
I loved reading her own experiences with weight issues and it really helps to know that I’m not alone, there are so many others like me out there. The assignments that she sets are very thought provoking and really make you think hard about your own thoughts and perceptions.
I really loved reading this book and think that many people would get a lot from reading this.

This book might be titled “The Fat Girls Guide…” but this book is for everyone! I think that everyone has probably had or has issues with their bodies. It’s so easy to hate things about yourself and this book will help you learn to love yourself, both inside and out! I’m not normally a self-help book reader, but this is a must read! I’m so glad I picked this one up. It definitely resonated with me, not only with the way I see myself, but in the ways I’ve thought about others as well. Do you judge others based on what they look like or what size they are? Read this. Hopefully it will give you an understanding of what you are doing, not only to yourself, but to others as well.

The journaling you are asked to do throughout this book may be a struggle for many. I mean, who really wants to take a hard close look at themselves and put into writing what you love and don’t love about your body? Do it! It really does help and will create a more body positive image of yourself. You’ll see just how great you really are!

Overall, this is honestly a super fun book! The author is so conversational and real, it feels like you’re sitting down and having a conversation with your best girlfriend! I devoured this book in hours and can’t wait to read it again. And I’m looking forward to the daily affirmations…365 days of them! Yes, this book is meant to be used over a years’ time. I think my attitude toward myself will take a huge directional change over the next year thanks to this author. This book is needed and a must read for all!

This book is amazing and a must for anybody who has issues with their bodies.

This books is body positive and teaches you to look at yourself not in terms of how much you weight but in what you can do and achieve. It promotes that no matter what your size and shape everyone can achieve anything they want to.

The journal exercises throughout the book are also great for making the whole journey personal to yourself and is a good tool for helping you see how far you have come from start to end.

This is a book that can be used over and over. I like the journaling and daily affirmations she has included. Its much more of a work-book to be a better me. I feel this is not just a book for fat people. It’s really for anyone with body shaming issues. Yes it leans toward helping overweight people but much of this is really for anyone.

I like the honesty written in this book. If ever I was wondering if what a certain body part was doing what it was supposed to….I found out in here. Or if I was the only one thinking this negative thought…I found out in here I am not alone. The author shares her personal stories and journey with the readers as well as tidbits and helpful links.

The words flow very nicely making this easy and fun to read. I think a lot of people will benefit from this book. As I was reading I was making a mental list myself of people I could gift it too.

This is a book that I enjoyed reading. I loved the author’s wit and how she tackles the issues that are faced by those who are not happy with their body. This is a book that made me take a hard look at how I see and think about myself. The author gives advice and tackles many issues regarding how you see your body and how to love yourself. I loved that the author used her own personal experiences. I have struggled with my weight since childhood, so this book had me thinking back over the years and how I found that others shaped how I thought of my body. Many of my experiences have been negative. I found this book to be uplifting and a guide in choosing to be happy with my body. It is a book I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn to love their body. Highly recommended.

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by KL Montgomery is everything we know but most don’t put into practice. This is a very different book than what she normally writes but it is written honestly and with humour. It is a book that is aimed at self-love and to be comfortable in the skin in which you wear every day. Let’s face it many of us don’t like what we see in ourselves, but we live with it anyway.

This book is designed to help you become that if you want without being to serious. Give it ago you never know.

The Fat Girl’s Guide To Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery. I have read almost every single book by this author and let me tell you, I needed this book…. It was great to actually learn more about the author and hear her stories.

Crossroads are an inevitable part of life. But how do you navigate them when your life is not your own?

At 22-years-old, Michelle Onuorah was a bestselling author, former runway model, and recent college graduate with the world at her fingertips…Or so she thought.

In a matter of weeks which turned into months…and eventually most of her twenties, the God of the universe systematically revealed that He was also the God of her life – and she was not. With breathtaking candor, razor sharp humor, and bold vulnerability, Michelle shares the ten key lessons she’s learned about God, life and understanding both in the midst of ceaseless transitions.

In her words, “This book is for those of you who believed with all your heart that you would end up in one place and somehow, despite following God – or maybe even because of it – ended up on a completely different path. This is for those of you who, though you love God, sometimes wonder who He even is. This is for those of you who choose to believe He’s still good.”

This book is for you.
