This series gets better and better. I love these characters that Hazel has brought to life. This series picks up where the last one left off. Vanessa is giving a mission by the Queen but gets taken to the invisible palace (Upperworld) by Aroz before she is able to complete the mission. This installment follows more of Aroz relationship with Vanessa. I am excited to say that there is another book coming soon!
I can honestly say that I am likely one of the only avid readers out there that haven’t read any Sherlock Holmes novels, nor have I really paid much attention to any tv/movies of this genre. This novel has altered my interest for sure! I found myself immersed in Emma’s sleuthing skills, and the different skills of her family members and team. After reading numerous romance novels, I was itching for a change of pace and Notebook Mysteries – Decisions and Possibilities hit the spot. From the first few chapters, I was pulled into the 1880’s, Chicago is a place of development, and growth, and I found it very easy to picture Emma, and Dora, in their boarding house. Women were ultimately seen for their homemaking skills, and this team fought hard to encourage women and local businesses to take them on to prove their worth outside the home. It’s very empowering!
I did find that a lot happened all at once, especially during the first half of the novel. Once I hit the halfway mark, and we really start to dig deep into one specific Pinkerton case, I couldn’t put the book down and found myself trying to figure out what the outcome would be by deciphering the information given so far. It is by no means an ‘easy read’ but that’s part of what makes Kimberly Mullins writing style so incredible. I loved that it pulls you in, introducing new characters, and bringing a romantic story to light as well. The fact that Kimberly Mullins includes some historical information as you’re sightseeing in New York City with Emma and Jeremy was fascinating. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure, and will certainly be looking forward to reading more Notebook Mysteries in the future. Thank you, Ms. Mullins, it was a riveting read, highly recommend!
***No Spoilers*** This book has it all: Romance, Suspense, Intrigue, and Steam. I was not able to put this book down. The main characters in this book come with heavy secrets that they are trying to protect. How far will they go to protect those secrets when their own very lives are at stake? This question is what kept me from being able to put the book down. I kept turning page after page to see what would happen next. Knowing that this is the first book in the series, I am only assuming that the characters that we are introduce too will be making future appearances throughout the series. The air of mystery pulls you in during the first couple chapters. It has you second guessing who is good and who is bad. The suspense has you on the edge of your seat. You will want nothing more than to continue reading just so you can see what happens. The way the characters of Vulture and Danielle were written, you can feel their struggles. Vulture leaves you with a dark good guy vibe. You know what I mean, he is bad because of who he is but the way he acts and how protective he is makes him seem like a good guy. Danielle is an amazing female lead. She is strong, courageous, smart, and obviously beautiful. She is always stepping up to the plate and throwing herself into every situation without any doubts. You will see the strength of the characters grow throughout the book. Their journey is full of twists and turns. When you finish this book you will be left with a book hangover and the need for the second book in the series,

This book was brilliant. What a way to start the chance of death because you stole vodka, I think it’s a brilliant concept,I do have to say that I saw the romance element coming straight away but it honestly didn’t bother me, I still really enjoyed the story. I really liked that the main character was very vocal and wouldn’t just roll over for people and was outspoken.

This book is a sweet romance that brings to mind the movie The Runaway Bride (though Pandora is not a runaway bride). Jonas and Pandora cross paths when she stops in at his pub. She is running away from a modeling shoot (in a high end wedding dress)…. As you can guess, Bunya Junction is a small town and the gossip vine runs rampant. These two start the vine a’hopping. The messes they can get in and the assumptions they make. I found this book quite entertaining. The characters were well-written. All around, Sindy, Randy, Scott, Jonas and Pandora were like watching local good drama. It was romantic and sweet. Jonas and Pandora had rough times and worked through them. I loved trying to picture the area of Australia being written about. Grand book all around. Highly recommend you check this out.

This was a captivating book and kept me hooked. The character building and development of the story was great. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of books that end on a cliffhanger, but I am invested in finding out who is behind the murder and any other mysteries Jayne may uncover.

Wow, what a great start to this series. I was pulled in right from the beginning. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a good mafia read and this one does not disappoint.
Liliana was a great strong character. Her father is the head of the mafia. She returns from college and things start to get dangerous for the family business. Her father brings in a hitman, Max to take care of things. Max was great, you could feel the connection coming off the pages between these two. He was hired for a job but he also has his own plans. Will he be successful?
Overall this was a really great read. We get several twists and turns that added a great element to the story. The characters added a great element to the story. We get danger, secrets, and so much more in this book. I look forward to reading more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

This is a captivating story, one that hooks you and draws you in, slowly. After Luci inherits the estate, and her great-aunt’s ruby ring is winking brightly on her finger, she begins feeling inexorably drawn to the old mansion and the spirit within it. The feeling is insidious and steadily growing. Mayfield writes in such a lush way that I almost felt the spirit’s pull myself. There is a heavy romance layer to this story as well, plenty of steamy scenes in just 89 pages! As the plot speeds up, the psychological fear aspect takes hold, and what was arousing becomes downright terrifying. Prepare yourself for an emotional ride with this one!

This is the first book I have read by Linda Burson, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Cammy works for a private detective and after a really hard long case, feels she needs a vacation. She heads to her brother’s house in Connecticut for the summer. Three months, turns into five. Her brother is a police officer as others had been in her family. She went to the Academy but decided that was not the way she wanted to go with her life. Cammy’s brother gets a case about the neighbor’s wife going missing. Cammy who has fallen in love with the neighbor’s little boy gets involved with the case. But is she too close? She has the neighborhood talking up a storm spending so much time with the handsome father. There was romance and mystery and catty women. This book made me smile and giggle more than once, but it also kept me turning the pages. I will be seeking out other books by this author.

I have read a few of Ms. McKinley’s books and she hasn’t disappointed me yet. The characters are strong they have to be in their world. I love the little quirks and the way they play off each other makes them some what real. This book had it all action, tension, betrayal, romance.

I absolutely loved reading Home to the outback. It’s book one in a new series by Nicole Flockton and I had to keep going. It kept me interested in Ryan and Sindy’s story. The story follows Sindy a nurse and Ryan a big shot plastic surgeon as they navigate broken hearts, loss, history, relatives and love. I truly recommend this book if you need a good romance novel. I thought this was a great start to a new series. I loved this book from the very beginning. The only down side for me was the character list. I found it hard to keep the families apart. With that being said, I had a few favorite characters and there were some shady ones also. Liliana is a mafia princess who is a huge asset to her dad. She has people assigned to protect her but she can handle herself in some situations. Just ask some of her dads guards. Sam Caruso has a long well thought out plan that involves Liliana. This book has lots of action and suspense that will leave you guessing what’s going to happen next. Definitely liked this book and cannot wait for more in this series.

Sweet contemporary romance and I loved it. Jonas Carruthers is the owner of the local Bunya Junction pub and a bit of a workaholic. Working at the bar, in walks in the beautiful Pandora Sebastian in a wedding dress. Talk around town and the bar believe she is a runaway bride. You find out differently, as she is a supermodel and just needs a break from modelling. Sparks fly as Jonas and Pandora get to know each other. I loved the chemistry that Jonas and Pandora and I also love the continuation of some “news” of Sindy and Ryan from book 1. Looking forward to book 3! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Jake the growling dog has been a family favorite series in our house and this one was no different. My kids love the pictures more than listening to me read the story but they at least listen through the first time. I love how relatable these stories are.

Whispering Pines sounds like a pretty great place to live. Full of misfits who are just looking to be accepted.
Jayne O’Shae is the main character. A former detective who travels to Whispering Pines to get her grandparents house ready to sell. That’s not at all what ends up happening. Upon her arrival, she finds a dead body and no cell service. When she tries to use the landline to call the local police, she finds her grandparents house has been vandalized.
Who was the dead person really? Were they murdered? Are witches and magic real? Did Jayne really come to Whispering Pines to get the house on the market? What else will she find?!
I felt Jayne was relatable and I loved Meeka, her dog. I loved her realistic apprehension towards Wicca and witches but the author did a great job of painting the reality behind those two things. I loved the small town vibe of Whispering Falls mixed with the mystery, drama, and scandal.
I will definitely be reading the 2nd book in this series- Kept Secrets.
Wow…just wow! I knew once I read a sample of another book by Amy McKinley that I had to read once of her books. This is the first Amy McKinley book I have ever read and I am hooked! And who could resist with a plot like this? The mafia, romance, and a thriller aspects of this book brings it together and I could not get enough. I love how Amy McKinley is able to incorporate the inner workings of the mafia and the family interconnections with the mafia, and also string along this chemistry between Max and Lilianna that had me not able to put this book down. I will definitely be reading more from this author!

Vulture is the first book in The Order of the Condor Series. This is the first book that I have read by Maya Daniels. And I am glad that I did. It was mixed with a little of everything, romance, hot moments and scenes, and paranormal and supernatural. I thoroughly enjoyed a mixture of all things. OH EMM GEE! I can’t even begin to explain how much I LOVED Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson! She creates a setting with wonderful characters, to nosey neighbors, mystery, suspense, a HUGE ending twist, and of course murder, but just how much? I guess you will have to read to find out!!!! Grant, stuck in a marriage he was forced into, does everything he can do to deal with his wife Paula, just to be with his son. Until one day Paula disappears without a trace. Grant, being a lawyer, knows though he didn’t do it he’s now the prime suspect. Though he’s not the only one who isn’t sad Paula is gone. Camille, an undercover PI, takes a leave of absence from her job in Boston to stay with her brother in Connecticut. Ends up in the middle of Paula’s disappearance investigation. I got sucked into this book, I didn’t want to put it down. I felt like the nosey neighbors watching Camille and Grant during the investigation of his wife’s disappearance. Lucie brutally got dumped by her boss/boyfriend. She knew better but it was easy with Jerome, her ex. Lucie swears to herself never to get involved with a co-worker again. She intends to keep the promise to herself, until her new boss is a hottie carved out of steel and marble. Lucie tells herself that it doesn’t matter how hot he is because he is way out of her league and there is no chance. Max Delaroche is a secret prince from someplace no one has ever heard of, and, if he has his way about it, plans to keep it that way. Max hires Lucie because she is the beginning of a plan to keep his principality safe. Max is totally enthralled by Lucie and her sassiness. Can he keep his secret, even from her?
This short read is filled with humor, love and intrigue. Is there a mole in the palace? Can Max keep Lucie safe from his enemies? There are more questions than answers in this book. We can only hope that there is more to come from these two! This cute caper is the perfect beach book or (like me) way to spend an evening!!

Anne Fremont is back in this new gardening tale, where she is giving a talk to the specialist interest group of the local gardening club where she will be talking about how to grow a good forest with a mix of flowers, fruit, vegetables and herbs on one place with little to no tending needed. She is happy to be there and has been looking for a gardening group to join and this one seems right up her street. The next day she has agreed to go and see the president of the club and discuss the designs she has in mind for her garden, so she gets ready for the day and sets off over in her car.
When she arrives, she knocks on the door, however, when she doesn’t get an answer after the third try, she decides to go and look in a window to see if they are home, however, when she sees the owner is unable to answer the door, she rushes in only to find that she is dead. Anne phones the authorities and reports what has happened and to all intensive purposes it looks like an accident, but the more she thinks about it, the more something doesn’t ring true for Anne.
She decides to ask around about what happened that morning and how people feel about it, but the more questions she asks, the more secrets are uncovered leading to more possible suspects. There are rumours and accusations flying of extra marital affairs and the possibility that someone has silenced the woman who has died, but will Anne be able to discover the culprits identity before she is the next victim? This is a lovely cozy mystery where secrets and ulterior motives abound, all while gardens are being created and tended to by the close knit gardening group.
