Dares & Dice (Spicetopia #5) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Sheri Schrader

Dares & Dice (Spicetopia Book 5)Dares & Dice by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dares & Dice by Phoebe Alexander is the fifth book in the Spicetopia series. These can be read in any order but I recommend in the order they’ve been written. The stories focus on a different couple each time, but there are characters which overlap into other books. This book is about a bachelor and a bachelorette party which both are Spicetopia. I honestly did not know where the story would go exactly but ended up liking this book a lot. The bride to be Makenna and the separate groom to be Ty are in Spicetopia for a last hurrah. Will they both find a weekend of fun? This is a quick but fun read and kept me entertained. I always enjoy books by Phoebe Alexander for a nice getaway and look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Summer’s Stolen (Seasons of Magic Book 2) by Sarah Biglow – Review by Sheri Schrader

Summer's Stolen (A Seasons of Magic urban Fantasy Novel)Summer’s Stolen by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summer’s Stolen by Sarah Biglow is the second book in the Seasons of Magic series. I have been looking forward to reading this since finishing the first book, and I am not disappointed. Ezri Trenton is settling into her role as Savior within the magical community as well as her position of Detective in the police department. When children start going missing there are connections between both of her worlds. Will she get to the bottom of the missing children before it is too late? I highly recommend reading the first book before this one because it is a continuation of the story. This is a hard series to put down so far. The story is fast, action packed, and filled with mystery and magic. I am enjoying the development of the main character Ezri and how she has changed and adapted into her new roles. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series in the future.

Curse of SeductionCurse of Seduction by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Curse of Seduction by CR Robertson is the first book in the Dark Princes of Purgatory series. The story is a great fantasy with witches, vampires, curses, and more. Ezekiel has been cursed by an evil Queen. The curse harms every woman he takes blood from. What will happen when Ezekiel meets Ilana? Ilana has always felt defective, but when she meets Ezekiel everything starts to change. I really enjoyed the story and the relationship that Ezekiel and Ilana form. There are challenges and passion between the two that develops. Can the two of them battle the curse before Ilana is changed forever? The writing leads a wonderful and interesting story with a good development of the characters. I look forward to seeing more in this series and reading more from this author.

The Labyrinthine Journey (Servant of the Gods Book 2) by Luciana Cavallaro – Review by Sheri Schrader

The Labyrinthine Journey (Servant of the Gods, #2)The Labyrinthine Journey by Luciana Cavallaro
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Labyrinthine Journey by Luciana Cavallaro is the second book in the Servant of the Gods series. This is a really interesting story with historical fiction, Gods and Goddesses, and a man from the 21st century on a quest to find a sacred object. Even, the son of Zeus, has to find this object before the beginning of Christianity. The characters are interesting and if you like history and mythology this will be a good read to you. I liked that the author took mythology and placed it in the context of the beginning of Christianity. Everything is well planned out and exciting to read. The story has a good flow and kept me from wanting to put it down. I look forward from reading more from this author in the future to see what interesting stories she brings to life.

Another Yesterday (Seashells and Second Chances Collection Book 2) by Angela Christina Archer – Review by Sheri Schrader

Another Yesterday (Seashells and Second Chances Collection Book 2)Another Yesterday by Angela Christina Archer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another Yesterday by Angela Christina Archer is the second book in the Seashells and Second Chances Collection. The books can be read as standalone which was fantastic since this was my first read by this author. This book is full of family, love, and second chances. We get the story of Maggie, who needs to start her life over for herself and her baby girl in a small town. Thirty years later we get the story of Rachel who thought she had everything she ever wanted to lose it all and have to start over. This story is emotional and full of learning about the past in order to move on and have a better future. Will Rachel be able to find the light at the end of her path? I really enjoyed this story and how multifaceted it was. Truly between Maggie and Rachel you get two stories in one. I will be checking out other books in this series soon.

New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy (Carolina Kisses Book 2)New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

New Jerk in Town: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romantic Comedy by Sylvie Stewart is the second book in the Carolina Kisses series. This can be read as a standalone and completely enjoyed as it is. Milo is a grumpy man trying to raise his teenage niece and figure out what to do since he is back in his hometown. Jill met Milo as a teen during one summer and has returned to town. Will the sparks fly or will they kill each other before that happens? I really enjoyed Milo and Jill’s story and how misunderstandings have a way of continuing to grow over the years. Both of them are stubborn and will argue for what they think is right. I have read other books by this author so I had an idea of what to expect but this did not let me down. Milo and Jill, along with co-workers and family make this a fun will they or won’t they book. I always look forward to reading a book from Sylvie Stewart.

Spring's Calling (Seasons of Magic, #1)Spring’s Calling by Sarah Biglow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spring’s Calling by Sarah Biglow is the first book in A Seasons of Magic Urban Fantasy Novel. If the rest of the series is as good as this first book, I am in for a great reading adventure. This book has action, adventure, fantasy, and more which kept me reading nonstop until I finished. The main character Ezri Trenton is a Boston Police Detective and kin to witches from the Salem witch trials. She is a great character and I really enjoyed her story in this book. I do not want to give anything away, but if you like fantasy set in the current day with adventure this is for you. A Book Signing To Die For: Beach Reads by Judy Moore – Review by Sheri Schrader

A Book Signing To Die ForA Book Signing To Die For by Judy Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Book Signing to Die For by Judy Moore is a cozy mystery set in a small beachside town in Florida. Beck, her Grandmother, and younger sister all live over the family bookstore. When a murder occurs close to the store after a book signing, Beck jumps in to try to solve the mystery. This is a very fast and enjoyable read. I really enjoy Beck because she is quick, witty, and kind, but has some insecurities from her younger days. She loves herself a good mystery and is pulled into the recent murder of a customer. Can she use what she has learned from her love of books to solve the murder?
The characters are fun and work well together to drive the story along. What a beautiful, idyllic setting to have for a murder mystery. I have read other books by this author but this is one of my favorites so far. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Designing Love (The Calderone Family Romance Book 3)Designing Love by Victoria Grant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Designing Love by Victoria Grant is the third book in The Calderone Family Romance series. This is a fun, romantic read about architect Caroline Winters and Charles Calderone VP of his family business, Calderone Industries. When she is hired to design for the Calderone’s will, the two of them be able to work together. I really enjoyed this light romance of opposites. Caroline is the one who work always comes first while Charles is a creative type. The story is nicely written and I enjoyed the characters. I had not read other books in this series diving in the middle of the series, but the good news is these can be enjoyed as a standalone. I look forward to catching more of the books in the series and more from this author.

Love the Way You Dance by Allison M. Boot – Review by Sheri Schrader

Love the Way You DanceLove the Way You Dance by Allison M Boot
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love the Way You Dance by Allison M. Boot is a sweet, young adult read. This book tells the story of Kara, who was adopted by the King and Queen of Starrycrest. Kara is a brave and sweet young lady who has lived a life of challenges. She is wanting to make some changes in the Kingdom and set up a program for orphans who need to find their forever home. Unfortunately, the King and Queen are not completely behind Kara’s new plan.
I really enjoyed this story about courage, acceptance, and loving yourself despite any flaws. I think this is a sweet story to be enjoyed by many. Also, I think younger readers can learn a lot and will enjoy reading Kara’s story. This is a nice modern fairy tale story.

Hero High: Figure In The Flames by Mina Chara – Review by Sheri Schrader

Figure in the Flames (Hero High, #1-3)Figure in the Flames by Mina Chara
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hero High: FIgure in The Flames by Mina Chara is a collection of three Hero High books; Denial, Anger, and Bargaining. This is a quick, entertaining read. Friday is now a student at Hero High to hone her special abilities. She learns quickly that you cannot trust many and not everyone is concerned about her best interests. This school for heroes is televised and part of reality tv programming. It is difficult for Friday because she has a mind of her own and does not care if she is popular, she just wants to be trained. What will Friday do when she is brought into a plan which can have life altering circumstances? Will Friday make the right decisions?
I really enjoyed reading about Friday. She is a young lady many can relate to. Her life has not been easy, but she just wants to protect her family and reach her goals. She is a fun character. There are other characters which are also students and mentors at school. Each is an interesting character and would be great to read more about them. Humiliating Revenge: Contemporary Young Adult Romance by T. Christensen – Review by Sheri Schrader

Humiliating RevengeHumiliating Revenge by T. Christensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Humiliating Revenge: Contemporary Young Adult Romance by T. Christensen is a good, entertaining read. This starts with the typical girl dumps boy, and he remakes himself to return bigger and better. Luckily, the author takes this and runs further and deeper with this storyline. The characters are complex and multidimensional. I enjoyed the story and the characters. People were deeper than I first thought and this helped to propel the story. I enjoyed the fact that I was surprised by the story because my first assumptions were this would be a typical cookie cutter story. There was good character development and story development. This is a good romance if you like Alpha males and strong, determined females. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

How (Stalker Series, 3)How by Megan Mitcham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

How by Megan Mitcham is the third book in the Stalker Series. These are standalone books, but I recommend reading each of these. FBI Special Agent Libby Irish is working on a case involving a weapons ring trying to make herself noticed and respected by the men in her job. If that isn’t bad enough, a photo of her is making the rounds undermining all the hard work she has been putting in.
This is a great story which kept me on the edge of my seat. There is action, suspense, romance, and lots of twists and turns. I have enjoyed this entire series and this did not disappoint. The main characters are always fantastic and interesting. There is a lot of character and story development and this helps to drive the story. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

She is smart, funny, and realistic. She is pulled in many directions. Does she follow her heart and Sergio or stay focused on her studies? This is a fantastic book, part of The Italian Saga series, which takes you from Leda’s childhood on. Leda is an amazing character because she is relatable and realistic. She deals with issues any female today comes across. She also is human and makes mistakes and has to figure out how to correct herself. I look forward to reading more of Leda’s adventures and see where her life continues to take her.

TorchTorch by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Torch by Tricia Copeland is the second book in the Lovelock series. I recommend reading the first book before this because this is truly a continuation of the story. If you like YA, dystopian, sci-fi, or adventure you will enjoy this story. It is fast paced and kept me reading until late into the night. I really enjoy the Jema because she is at the heart of trying to save everyone but has been named as a traitor. Those who she comes across are a varied lot. Who and why should she trust them?
This story is really timely because it is dealing with a contagion which has been taking out the population and the cure for all. Greed is a big player in the motives of people at the top rungs. Can Jema get the cure before it is too late?
I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (The Italian Saga, #4)Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B Amman is the second book in her Italian Teens series which is part of her The Italian Saga series. Leda has grown up to be an inquisitive and thoughtful later teen in this book. She is now facing questions most female teens go through and with her normal aplomb. Amman hits on some major subjects for ladies this age: sex, abuse, weight, and more with a careful and considerate hand to her writing. Leda is such a relatable character and with her lifelong friend Nico (I think many girls have someone like this) things get incredibly complicated. Will Leda learn to be her own beautiful friend? Read this to find out. This is not necessarily for a young girl to read but I think girls at the age of Leda will be able to relate and realize they are not alone in what they are experiencing and questioning.

Her life is changing rapidly, and she is trying to figure out who is actually on her side. She finds out people have ulterior motives, and she has to figure out what she wants to fight for. Will she make the right decisions?
I have enjoyed these books. They are quick, action packed reads about a young lady who just wants to find her place in the world. Be it she has super powers, but she is still relatable. I really enjoy the characters and the story line. I look forward to reading more in the future from this author.

Life’s a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 3) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Sheri Schrader

Life's a Witch (New Orleans Nocturnes, #3)Life’s a Witch by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Life’s a Witch: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the third book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. These are fun, quick to read stories which can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading them in order because there is some character carryover from book to book. This time we are given Crimson, who is a bad witch. Not evil bad! She is just really good at getting spells wrong. She gets herself into some odd situations in book 2 and now they are coming back to haunt her. With the help of the demon Mike and her other supernatural friends can she get herself into this problem?
The characters are fun and light. I enjoy the introduction of different supernaturals and that sometimes life is stranger than fiction. New Orleans is a perfect setting for these supernatural stories to take place. I have enjoyed these books as a get away from the realities of the real world. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

All The Wrong Reasons by Erin Bevan is the first book in the A Serendipity Falls series. The story follows Alex and Max who have known each other since they were 7. The two have always remained friends but when circumstances occur in both their lives will they take the romantic leap?
This is a sweet romance with realistic characters. People are flawed, have pasts, and are not perfect but are trying to do the best they can do. I am always sweet on a friends to lovers romance. What could be better than a perfect ending to a lifelong friendship. This story is well written and I enjoyed the characters of Alex and Max and wanted to see both of them get a happy ending. This is the first book I have read from this author but look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Shift Happens (New Orleans Nocturnes, #2)Shift Happens by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shift Happens: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the second book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. These are fun, paranormal romantic stories that will keep you laughing. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order because characters carry over from story to story. Sophie is a struggling witch who cannot seem to come into her powers, her best friend has become a vampire, and all she wants is some time to get to know a handsome werewolf intimately. What could go wrong?
Of course, nothing is easy for Sophie but she finds her forever family and all works out in the end. Sophie is a funny character full of sass. She knows what she wants and she goes for it. Trace is the sexy werewolf and he finds Sophie is more than a quick escapade for him. This book is a quick read but great while stuck at home. It had me laughing a lot and was light and delightful. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Why (Stalker Series, #2)Why by Megan Mitcham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Why by Megan Mitcham is the second book in the Stalker Series. This is a great series because they do not have to be read consecutively. Prosecutor Genevieve Holst is a successful attorney and has gotten into an awkward case of having to defend her mentor, Perry. Was it a wise decision to make the move to the other side and defend Perry? Things are not adding up and she has to find out why.
I like these books because they are suspenseful and smartly thought out. Genevieve is a smart and interesting character. She has a lot to deal with because she is trying to figure out if she just saved a guilty man who also happens to be close to her. This has a great storyline and the story reads quickly. I really like the flow and did not want to put the book down. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

License to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes, #1)License to Bite by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy by Carrie Pulkinen is the first book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series. If you are looking for a lighthearted read this is something to grab. The story is about Jane Anderson who takes a girls trip to New Orleans. She is spoiled and not used to being told no. In walks Ethan Devereaux the town’s hottest vampire. A case of mistaken identity is soon figured out and Ethan needs to figure out how to get Jane to become less leary of blood.
I enjoyed the banter between the two characters especially as Ethan tries to train Jane for her license so she doesn’t get staked. This isn’t the same old vampire story. The characters are fun and there are many laughs in this story. I look forward to what happens in the series next.

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6): A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series by K.L. Montgomery – Review by Sheri Schrader

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6): A Small Town Romantic Comedy SeriesRomance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6): A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series by KL Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Romance in Rehoboth Boxed Set (Books 4-6) by K.L. Montgomery is part of A Small Town Romantic Comedy Series. Each of the books takes place in Rehoboth Beach and can be read as a standalone story. My recommendation is to read them in order because there are characters which carry over from book to book. Each book features two people and will be sure to give you a HEA. I have finished two in this set and will give you a bit of my thoughts on each.
The three books in this set include: Badge Bunny, Wedding War, and Stage Mom.
Badge Bunny by K.L. Montgomery is the fourth book in the Romance in Rehoboth series. This book focuses on the story of Chris Everson and Brynne Miller. Chris is a state trooper and Brynne is an ER doctor. Both are strong with a bit of a stubborn streak. When they first met Brynne gets a bad opinion of Chris. Can he change her first impression?
Like the other books in the series, this is a sweet reminder that there is someone for each and every one of us. After being forced together for parts in a wedding party they discover one another. I like that Montgomery keeps the lead female strong and spunky and full of life. It is nice that these women are strong but not obnoxious. The men are sweet and caring but not wimps. The characters are realistic who are funny and caring but also have their faults. No one is perfect.
Wedding War features Hannah and Jason. Both of their families own competing wedding wear businesses but there is a new enemy in town. Über Brides is a big box wedding store aiming to take out all the competition. Although Jason and Hannah’s family have an ongoing feud can the two of them take down the new enemy. Both of them are sweet and determined. Also, Hannah is a smarty. They are young but have a pretty firm grasp of what they want in their futures.
I look forward to reading Stage Mom to see what story is next.

Midnight in the House of Lang by Bree M. Lewandowski is an exciting futuristic read. It is set in 3034 in Imperial Vienna and Thea with her brother have fled their home for safety. Thea finds herself falling for Captain Irek Surov despite their different goals. This is a futuristic dystopian society where steam runs everything. I really enjoyed the development of the story and felt myself carried away. This is a relatively short read but doesn’t fall short in story or character development. I will be looking for more in the future from this author.

Testament of Feats: Book of Sorrows by K.H. Jones is the second book in this series. We pick up following Night Scream in his search for the missing ranger. A big recommendation is to read the first book in the series before this one because this picks up right up. Again we are led on an adventure that drew me in where I did not want to put this down. There is a lot of world and character development but it is presented clearly and in an entertaining way. I did not feel confused or lost at any time. I really enjoyed the character Night Scream and enjoyed following the journey.

A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2A Study in Spirits: A College Fae magic series #2 by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Study in Spirits by Byrd Nash is the second book in A College Fae Magic series. The author says there will be four books in the series, one for each year of school. This is a fairly short, quick read but the author accomplishes a lot in those pages. In this book Brigit has been accused of stealing answers and vandalism. With her friends she must clear her name or be expelled from school. I enjoyed the characters of Brigit and Logan as well as the secondary characters in the story. This is a nice get away from the day to day isolation from being at home giving out a bit of magic to all of us. I look forward to reading more in this series.
