My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Tale of a Body Thief was my first book from by Kristy Centeno and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it! This was a great introduction to the Rovena Silvex Chronicles. The world building in this story is -phenomenal-. The characters are extremely well fleshed out. I adored the strength and perseverance of Rovena. She is no ordinary demon hunter and she is very good at what she does. For me, this book was a slow-burn, and enjoyably so. Many things are transpiring and building and it is absolutely worth the wait. This book concludes perfectly to lead into the next and I can say that I am very excited to dive in when the following book for this series comes out. I definitely recommend, even if paranormal fantasy is not your typical go-to!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! Where to start, where to start. Honestly, this novel was much different than any other that I have read, and I think that that is a very good thing. Just the back and forth between Rovena and Lakyn would be entertaining enough, in my opinion, never mind the demons and responsibilities that came from Rovena’s line of work. It takes a little while to really get into it, but once connections are established, boy oh boy was it an addictive read.

There is so much tension, sexual and otherwise, fantastic character development, and world building and I felt as though it was just the right length. I love the lessons within these pages as well, such as not judging a book by it’s cover, and by following your gut instinct, and all those delicious life lessons. I very much look forward to reading more by this author, and I think you would do well to give this a read. Well done!

This is the first book of this series. This book hooks you from the beginning. I cannot wait for the next one to come out. This book has amazing word building and paints a very vivid picture on each page. Rovena is a demon hunter with the attitude to go with it. She has a challenge instead of killing a demon she has to keep one alive. Will she be able succeed?

This book has some excellent world building that enhances the story. Although I’m not familiar with the demon hunter sub-genre within the fantasy genre, there was wonderful description to help the reader follow along. The main character, Rovena, has depth and an attitude to match that I found likeable. Once I started reading, I wanted to know more about this world of demons and hunters. The hierarchy became clearer for me and I was able to visualize what the characters looked like. I appreciate how the author took the time to paint a word picture of the story setting. Even though this isn’t my go-to genre, I’m looking forward to more books in this series!

Tale of a Body Thief (Rovena Silvex Book 1) by Kristy Centeno. This book is a sit down and hang on type of read. You will be flipping the pages as fast as you can to find out what happens. Its the story of Rovena Silvex who has the special ability to give life and take it away. She has killed tons of demons and she has it perfected. When she is asked to visit the county morgue to figure out what killed this person she is shocked when the body rises from the dead and begins walking around with her. When she figures out the body walking around with her is not the soul that was in the morgue things take an interesting turn. Now everything Rovena has ever known is different, instead of killing a demon she is trying to protect one.

Tale of a Body Thief (Rovena Silvex chronicles Book 1)Tale of a Body Thief by Kristy Centeno
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This a great start to the series and a fantastic paranormal adventure. I really enjoy Rovena’s character. She is a very strong and determined lady with skills even she is not aware of. As a hunter her job is to stop the demons that are leaving the underworld before then can harm innocent people. However she senses there is something she doesn’t know about. Some secret to her past and who is really is that is kept hidden from her.

When Rovena is sent to a morgue to look at a body her job is to find out who killed the person and how. But things don’t go to plan. As she is studying the person they wake up.
Face with a dead person who doesn’t seem dead Rovena doesn’t know what to do. As time reveals that it’s not the soul of the deceased person in the body and demons trying to get at the soul that’s taken over the body Rovena has to do the unthinkable. She needs to protect a demon from harm instead of destroying it.
So we now start on a journey full of danger and surprises as Rovena learns its a lot harder to protect a demon than it is to destroy it.
I really can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This is the first book I’ve read of Kristy’s and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I don’t typically read this genre but I’m so glad I gave it a shot. Don’t get me wrong, I love paranormal and supernatural plots. Just never read a book that was like THIS. This book seriously has all the emotions and that’s what I love! I love when a book grabs my attention from the very first page, and that’s exactly what this book did!! I need the second book, ASAP lol. Waiting for books in a series is such torture but I’ll know the next book will be just as awesome. Highly recommend this!! Go check it out!! You’ll be missing out if you don’t!

“Killing demons has always been a piece of cake. Keeping one alive however, is a whole new ballgame for her.”

I fell in love with Kristy’s work after reading Deliverance. Tale of a Body Thief is the first book in this series and a story that had me captivated from the very beginning. When I saw this book out, I jumped to grab a copy. It is a paranormal story with non-stop action and adventure, mayhem and madness, drama and suspense, thrills with gripping danger and let’s not forget the romance.

I love the unexpected and that you never know what you are going to get with Kristy’s writing and it keeps you on your toes. The storyline is well thought out and the characters are well developed and interesting. I enjoyed the character banter and the humour Kristy infuses in her tales.

I suggest you grab a copy and dig in. You will not be disappointed if you love paranormal/supernatural.

Bring on book 2.

Tale of a Body Thief (Rovena Silvex chronicles Book 1)Tale of a Body Thief by Kristy Centeno
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rovena Silvex is a demon hunter, but she is no ordinary demon hunter, she has a special set of skills which make her one of, if not the best one, she has killed dozens of demons since she completed her training and she has it down to a fine art, however, sometimes, she is asked to perform other assignments which don’t involve hunting, but they do involve certain aspects of her skill set that are unique to her and tonight is one of those nights, tonight she has to visit the county morgue.

When she is sent to the morgue this time, it is so that she can work out how a victim died and who killed them, however, when she gets there, nothing goes to plan, she finds out the how, but not the who and when she next turns to look at the corpse, its eyes are open and it is holding onto her hand. What happens next is not something she can even process when the corpse attacks her and as she is fighting back, she hears footsteps coming down the hall and she now knows that she has to take the walking corpse with her when she leaves, but it isn’t as willing as she would hope.

With her walking corpse in tow, Rovena heads to the only place where she may get some answers, however, as she spends more time with the deceased, things stop adding up and she realises that it isn’t the victims soul in this body, it is something else entirely and that it is something she has never come across before. Now Rovena has a plan, it isn’t one that she wants to have, she has to babysit this walking corpse and keep them alive, or at least as alive as she can, but when demons come after them, she realises that keeping a demon alive is much harder than killing them! This is a fantasy adventure filled with magic, the supernatural and adventure galore, as a choice has to be made between keeping heaven and hell happy and trapping a demon in a world where they definitely don’t belong.

Such a good read! I was seriously hooked as I read this thrilling novel. It truly had everything I would have wanted as I read, it gave a lot, and certainly had its own level of epicenes. Freaking good read!

Loved the characters and the development they brought to the story. Loved Rovena especially. She had a lot of insight to the world and took her job very seriously. She was reluctant to change, I mean aren’t we all? I loved how danger seemed to follow her, and she would push through it. The author wrote a book that was perfectly done. Funny at times, deep at times, and full of action. I loved it from start to finish. I was hooked, and yes, I desperately need to read the next installment as of yesterday!

Not a book to be passed up. This book and author really bring everything to the table. And gives you sheer enjoyment. A must read for sure. Highly recommend this book and author with no doubt!

Rovena has her hands full. She must keep the dead man alive. Yep, he arose again but this time with a new soul. And it isn’t as easy as she may think. Rovena is a strong and touch chick that will do what she needs to to survive. She is a hunter. I found this book entertaining. It is wildly unpredictable, and I love this. This is a large factor on what pulled me in. From page 1, I was sucked in by the action (demon fight, anyone?). The characters are well developed. The story has a little of everything in it: humor, mystery, fantasy, paranormal, romance. This is one of the best paranormal books I’ve read this year. I literally couldn’t put it down until I had finished it.

Dahlia is a fierce force and this final book shows her full strength and how she has truly become all that she was meant to be. The growth and development over the series has cast her in many lights but this is the one where we literally and figuratively see her spread her wings as she was meant to. The support system around her of trustworthy and supportive friends allow her to grow in ways she did not see and that was one of the best parts of the series itself.. As it all winds down you get one last epic adventure with action, suspense, drama, excitement, and magic with these delightful characters and epic Heroine. Sad that the series is over but what a way to end it! From book one there has been nothing but amazing characters and a fantastic storyline. The world the author built has been fantastic and the lead Character, Dahlia has been nothing but amazing. Learning that the world and rules she grew up with were wrong she set out to protect those who couldn’t protect herself. She put her life on the line again and again. The growth of this character has been amazing. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye. Please read the entire series so that you get the full effect. I’m so happy with the way the series ended and the Epilogue was a “Finally!” Moment. Thank you to the author for a fantastic world to escape to.

Dahlia Nite is back again with more murder mysteries piling up all around her. She has become a “fire consultant” for the police of Sentinel City, which helps her stay close to the “more interesting” (aka more bizarre) cases. The ones that she needs to help cover up before the veil of creatures and worlds are exposed to the fragile humans. She has hunted creature from the torn veil to keep humanity safe for almost a century now. She knows her monsters, but now something is throwing it all off. Something is different. But what is it? Smells and emotions are off. Are these victims really human? Or something else?? People are mutating and she can’t smell anything but human before they combust! Yes they combust! As in up in flames!!! Combusting humans from homeless to high-class are drawing attention so fast that it’s hard to cover up. Dahlia and her human partner (Creed) investigate the deaths but only come up with more questions and even more bodies. The public is on the verge of a major panic that can consume the whole city! Is this a virus? Is it contagious?? She needs to move fast and find what or who is at fault! Can her sidekick help to figure out that is going on? Will the queen step in and just take care of her at the same time? Two birds one stone? Man this book kept me on my toes!! I CAN NOT wait to read the rest in this set!!! This book was absolutely amazing! I have loved this series since book one and could not wait to see what this book held for me. The action started right away. The destruction and travesty were devastating, but Dahlia and her friends chose to fight the evil. The characters have developed so much throughout this series. They are what really make this so good. The evolution of Dahlia while still keeping to her beliefs. The friends she has forged and the new ones she meets along the way.

But the story is what really kept me from not being able to but the book down. The story is so original and gripping. So many things are happening at once. Just when you think it’s over, it’s really just begun. The world the author has created — so descriptive and imaginative. The author weaves this fantastic tale with intriguing characters into a masterpiece.

The last book in the series, the previous books need to be read first. But if you are a fan of urban fantasy, you really need to read this book and series.

Another Dahlia Nite story and its just as good as the others. I have absolutely loved this series, I would recommend reading them in order though. The depth of the characters, how they interact, and where their relationship comes from are all built throughout the series. Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dahlia Nite, the shapeshifting, scaled vigilante is back and it is the end of the world, or at least the beginning of the end, everything she thought she knew and trusted has been ripped apart at the seams and she doesn’t know where to go or what to do first and her list has just been added to again. As she recovers from the shock of the city being brought to its knees and the disappearance of half of her team without so much as a note or message to say where they have gone, she has to go on fighting for the place she has come to love and where has almost become home, but for Dahlia, as usual, nothing is straight forward.

First on the list is both to try and stay alive and keep those on her team which are left alive, this is easier said than done as rubble is strewn all over Sentinel City, fires are burning out of control and the skyline has been completely changed by the attack

.Second, she has to figure out a way to stop the blight and halt the spread of this over the linked worlds, while also trying to figure out where it came from and how it adapts to each environment so quickly.

Thirdly she has to find a way to close the exits which are forming as the veil slowly disintegrates and which are popping up all over the place and causing more trouble than they are worth, not to mention the influx of supernatural creatures which are using them.

In place number four, she has the mad scientist who is bent on world domination and who is thriving in the chaos around them and using it to their advantage.

Finally, she has the lovely dragon inside her who she hopes is about to divulge the information she needs to tackle all of the above, but who is also done with being blocked and starts to take matters into their own hands.

With all that commotion, there is no time for grief, emotion or sometimes even to breathe, but as Dahlia makes the hard choices, will she be able to complete all her tasks before the Renewal takes any chance away from her? This is a fast paced urban fantasy adventure full of action, adventure, hurdles and stress come together in this race against the end of the world where secrets and lies obstruct plans and those fighting to stop it are overwhelmed and under pressure to find a solution in the gripping final instalment to the series.

Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t believe we are here… the final book! Dhalia is here again with her ragtag group of friends/team who really have become her family, her dragon and powers that continue to grow and still fighting the apocalypse of the blight. Can she save the ever shifting city… how about that dragon queen we’ve loved to hate… old enemies…. new enemies loss and gains are all part of this thrilling ending. This entire series was superb and needs to be at the top of your TBR series if you haven’t started!

Nite Fire: Exit Strategy (Book 5) by C.L. Schneider – Review by Michelle Marlow

Exit Strategy (Nite Fire #5)Exit Strategy by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We are starting with Dahlia and the world she knows being in absolute rubble and ruin. With the blight taking over and coming through and destroying her city, it’s a non stop fight. This is the last and final in this series. Please please read the beginning of the series. The attachment to the characters is an amazing part of the journey.

This book is full of intense emotions and intense feelings. It is a non-stop ride from beginning to end. The wrap up was wonderful. I couldn’t put it down.
