This is the third book in the series. Each book focuses on a particular horseman so technically you can read it as a stand-alone but I wouldn’t recommend it. There is an underlying story line throughout the series so reading it from the beginning is a good idea. This story centers around Uriel. Their sole purpose of existence is to guard the gates of Hell and someone wants it open. While Uriel is hunting down demons, he comes across a damsel in distress and thinking himself a cowboy, comes to her aid. I think it’s hilarious that an archangel walks and talks like a cowboy. Saving her leads to adventure, danger and love.

Though it’s a quick read, a lot happens on these pages. The plot unfolds a little more, making you realize that there is more going on than you originally believed. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

I have really been enjoying these Four Horsemen Novels from CA King! I thought she had hit the highest note and written my favorite with book two but boom nope this book Hitting The High Note totally knocked my socks off and went for the favorite of the series. I love how CA King writes so vividly that I feel as if I am right there submerged in this alternate reality with the characters. I immensely enjoy the way she weaves the story lines of multiple characters from book to book while focusing on a separate couple in each.

In Hitting The High Note we get the story of another horsemen. Uriel, or more often called Uri. He is the fun one of the siblings and keeps things fun and lighthearted pretty much all the time, even in the worst of them. I found myself having a smile or giggle several times because of him. He is about to have his world shook though with a sassy and feisty redhead, Bekka, walks into his life and challenges his not so serious outlook on life. These two will keep you on your toes as they learn to love each other while they battle unseen twists and turns. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!

Another fantastic installment from King! The backstory and subsequent world building in this series is riveting, well detailed, and beautifully written. I found the characters immediately relatable. Something about Uriel just resonated with me unexpectedly. Anyway, I continue to thoroughly enjoy this series and this latest addition was a welcomed read. Highly recommend!

Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C.A. King

5 out of 5 stars

Hitting the high note is the fourth book in the Four Horsemen series written by C.A. King is not the first book that I have read by this author. Her writing is unique and realistic that I couldn’t put this book down that I read it in one sitting especially with all the twist and turns. We meet the four horsemen: Michael, Gabrielle, Uriel and Raphael
Now we get to see what Uriel is made of his task is to protect everyone from the gates of Hell opening. For centuries their job has been to guard the gates of hell, making sure they never open. Without the keys, there was never any real threat. That’s about to change. There are rumors on the horizon that demon followers unearthed scrolls that explain exactly how to find the lost keys. This new battle is a race to see which side locates them first.
Bekka wasn’t nice to Uriel when they met, she is a woman that loves music. However, she doesn’t socialize very well. Since meeting Uriel, she met another gentleman and now her life is turned upside down.
Can Uriel save Bekka? Will Bekka and Uriel make the right decisions? Will he be-able to stop the gates of hell being opened? Will they have a happily ever-after?
I highly recommend this amazing book/series but, please read all books in order…

Hitting the High Note by C.A. King is the third book in A Four Horsemen Novel series. I recommend reading the series in order because the books do build onto one another. Uriel, a modern day cowboy, steps in to help make sure the keys to unseal hell are not found. Bekka runs into the man of her dreams, or is he? Her decisions can change the world as we know it. I have enjoyed this series immensely and this did not disappoint. I always enjoy a book by C.A. King but this is my favorite series so far. The characters are wonderful, there are twists and turns, and enough going on to keep me on the edge of my seat.

“The guardians of the four gates remained faithful to their cause through the ages – seeking out and destroying demons trying to free their forefather from the confines of the hell he had been sentenced to live in. Thousands of years later, a new threat appeared on the horizon…”

Well played, Ms. King. Well played indeed! I definitely didn’t see those twists coming. Sneaky and oh so clever!! My anticipation level is set on HIGH for what the next book will reveal.
Hitting the High Note is A Four Horsemen Novel (Book 3) by C.A King. I have seriously loved all Ms. King’s books- but there is just something about this series which has really captured my imagination. I love where it is leading, and the twist/s in this book had my mind reeling with possibilities and leaping to conclusions. I love the bridging story which spans the entire series, as well as each ‘individual couples’ story- there is so much going on, in a great way- and Ms. King orchestrates everything incredibly well. As with the other two books, this story drew me in and I soon lost all sense of time and place, as I was plunged into a fantastic adventure.
This series is Ms. King’s take/twist on the four horsemen legend- and what she has produced is a wonderfully imaginative urban fantasy that has action, adventure, demigods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, drama, danger, scheming, jealousy, hidden agendas, set-ups, truth, brotherhood, camaraderie, humour, and a sweet romance.
Uriel (Uri) is one of the 4 horsemen of legend, who we discovered back in book one, are real- and along with his 2 brothers and 1 sister, have been tasked with guarding the gates to hell. Uri is the joker of the group, always quick with the funny quips and banter. But there is much more to him than the goofy cowboy he comes across as- as we soon discover in this book. When his ‘investigation, places him in the path of a feisty red head, he thinks she’s antagonistic and rude.
Bekka is a talented musician, with performance anxiety. She yearns to be brave enough to one day play in an orchestra, but in the meantime, she spends her days running her music supply store, which has been in her family for generations. There have been a spate of break and enters in the neighbourhood recently which has her concerned- she may wish for a little more excitement, but not that type of excitement. When she comes across Uriel in the neighbourhood, their encounter doesn’t end well, thanks to her social awkwardness and his protective nature. She thinks he’s overbearing and egotistical. So, what happens when danger comes calling and secrets are revealed? Things definitely aren’t what they seem in this captivating story. The few twists certainly had me sitting up and taking notice. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in “When the Paint Dries”. Bring on Book 4!!!!
Fantastic!!!

Thank you, Ms. King!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ BOOK SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Hitting The High Note (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 3) by C.A. King
Genre – Fantasy/Supernatural
Page Count – 185 pages
Meet the four horsemen: Michael, Gabrielle, Uriel and Raphael.
For centuries their sole purpose has been guarding the sealed gates to hell. Without keys, there was never any real threat. That was about to change…
Uriel could pass for a cowboy – straight out of an aftershave commercial – at least in appearance. With a trusty lasso at his side, he’ll take on all comers in a fight to the finish in order to prove his worth. There’s no heading home empty-handed, when he already lives in the shadows of his siblings. A couple of days and a handful of puns is all he needs to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Bekka knows exactly what it’s like to be invisible and has her best friend, Veronica, to thank for it. All her life, she’s been too frightened to seize the moment, especially when it came to her music and love. A chance meeting with a cowboy, and then a gentleman, turns her world upside down, leaving her with a choice that changes all of their lives.
Personalities clash and secrets are revealed in this third installment of the Four Horsemen Series.
