Nite Fire: Smoke & Mirrors by C. L. Schneider – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dahlia Nite has lived undetected among the humans of Sentinel City for some time. Hunting creatures at all hours of the night to keep the humans safe, has been her personal mission for a while. A century! As a half dragon shape shifter she relies on many secrets and a lot of deception to keep her cover. Sometimes multiple covers! Walking in two worlds and belonging to neither keeps her hiding in plain sight, while also providing a good cover. Sometimes. It’s worked for so long. But nothing can stay hidden forever, right? When bodies start showing up dismembered and dumped at the river, Dahlia is on the case with human Detective Creed. Sentinel City begins to unravel while they try to set off with a new task force to uncover what is going on with these new killings. Clues set them on a path from crime scene to crime scene, but there is something wrong with the evidence and it just doesn’t add up! Already on edge, Dahlia employs her empathic abilities and uncovers something that makes her worlds crash into each other head first. All the secrets are piling up and she’s not the only one who is keeping them! Yeah!! She struggles to shield her friends from the truth about the veil and the monsters, but the serial killer, missing creatures, masked men, and her sidekick’s missing sister to boot is to much for Dahlia to handle! Will Dahlia break and everything come unraveled? Will her friends find out the truth about her and the worlds she tries to hide? Yet another great book to this set!! If you haven’t started this set you should!! It is so good!! It will keep you up all night just because you want to finish it!! This is defiantly one that I would recommend! And of course I can’t wait to read the others in the set!!
