This is a set of captivating sci-fi thriller novels. Why would someone agree to be implanted with a mind-controlling chip? The concept of the plot is intriguing and suspenseful. I feel like the books can be read as stand-alones but would recommend reading them in order. There is definitely plenty of twists and turns in the Alterations trilogy! Lilly, Gigi, and Ellen POV’s add to the plot as we experience how the chip effects each one of them. Still not sure if I like or hate the brilliant doctor…

Alterations / Game Changer / Primal Will (Alterations #1-3)Alterations / Game Changer / Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There’s a microchip for that? This is the first work by the creative Jane Suen that I have read, and wow was it a rollercoaster of a place to start. Honestly this book from chapter one had me pondering and completely intrigued. Told from multiple perspectives from start to finish we see the story unravel and the characters evolve.
Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly are all everyday women that have one great desire, be it to stay young, lose weight, find love, or forget the pain of lost love this technothriller takes you on journeys you never knew you needed a peek at. While originally, I was put off by Dr Kite’s introduction, his multi-level price points to make his invention accessible for as many people as possible was a high point. Fake taxicab trolling the city looking for “low risk” people that won’t be missed if gone for a few hours, microchips implanted without their knowledge, and covering up when he finds a defect. Dr Kite is not really a doctor but is a doctor I never knew I needed a look inside his mind. Book one Alterations begins with Gigi on the edge, after her recent upgrade to her chip something is wrong, but what? Book two Game Changer picks up a little over a year after the events of book one, Dr Kite has lost his warehouse, and Ellen soon discovers an alteration to her body, how is it possible? Book three Primal Will picks up in the same moment that book two ends with Tiffany having to make an impossible choice or risk refusing and seeing what happens.
From start to finish the author keeps you engaged, guessing, and intrigued by the plot and how it could possibly come to an end. Is there a happy ending for any of them? Does Dr Kite succeed? How does it all end? While originally confused but intrigued each new chapter, each insight and ultimately each book answered more questions while also adding a few new ones. Seeing how Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly make it to the other side made this a very satisfying Saturday read. I look forward to looking into some of the author’s other works and seeing what mysteries and suspense await me.

I definitely had a lot of questions and silly comments throughout the series. I found myself talking to the characters and shaking my head and laughing a few times too. This trilogy is made even scarier by how realistic it could be! I could definitely see this being a reality in the very near future. I read another book recently by this same author and find their writing style easy to read. I like the way the story moved along so that it was not hard to follow and jumped right in. I definitely recommend having all three books ready because it leaves you on a cliffhanger for each book. I really love all three main characters in the books but especially Gigi’s character. I finished this series in two days because it was so intriguing. I will definitely be reading more from this author very soon!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

VANISHING DAY (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 4) by Valerie Davisson . I have absolutely loved this series and this book was no different. Its the continuing saga of Logan McKenna whose new young neighbor is brutally attacked and left for dead. The only witness to the attack is the victim’s 3 year old daughter. When the police hit a dead end in the case Logan decides she has to find out what happened and why. As Logan starts digging she realizes her neighbor isn’t who she says she is and the danger is getting really deep. Finding out Lori, the victim, is in an abusive relationship or trying to flee from the relationship makes the case even more dangerous but that has never stopped Logan before. Will Logan and Brian find out who is trying to kill Lori and why before its too late for Lori and Logan? Each of these books can be read as standalone but they are all so good I highly recommend reading them all. The relationships and messes Logan gets herself into are so good. Just be prepared that once you start this book you won’t want to put it down!

Alterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillAlterations Trilogy: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This really was a trilogy of thought provoking sci-fi thrillers, which kept me gripped throughout. I loved having all three books in one collection as I could then ‘binge read’ the series! The intriguing storyline follows Gigi, Ellen and Lilly who all want to change their lives in some way and so take the drastic decision to go to Dr Kite. He has developed a mind controlling chip which the three women agree to have implanted, however although this gives them an easy and quick fix it comes with consequences. Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly were prepared to risk everything for love, health, and happiness, and Dr Kite’s novel chip implant offers them a mind controlling solution. However, Dr Kite is a secretive figure and when the city is plunged into chaos by unforeseen issues his warehouse is destroyed. It is then discovered that two of the implanted chips are defective and suddenly his plans go horribly wrong. In the aftermath of the disaster one of the woman seeks revenge for Dr Kite’s failings, but she may also have found an opportunity to save herself. I was hooked from start to finish by this original story, and was kept happily turning the pages to find out if Gigi, Ellen, and Lilly get their happily ever after. The characters and the setting were brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and I was fully immersed in the story.

Will he be able to catch the killer before it puts those he loves at risk? The fear leads him down a path that has some dark opportunities. This whole series has been a strong series and this book is probably the best yet. An amazing story and one up would certainly recommend.

An amazing set of dystopian type books about fixing what we view as our body issues. A totally creepy Dr. Kite wants to help women fix their issues. The books build on the previous stories and it’s great that they now come together. I found them exciting and thrilling just because of the creepy factor. The characters are easy to relate to. We all have these issues being dealt with and look for easy fixes. This author did a fantastic job with this story. I couldn’t put it down.

Flanks the line between fantasy and reality
This trilogy was fascinating. As always this author delivers a brilliant suspense thriller mystery. Gigi, Ellen and Lilly along with Dr. Kite bring their POV to the story. Micro chips delivering dreams or false hopes. It took a little while for the story to take off and once it did I was hooked until the end. The character’s stories are interwoven well and the suspense built across the books, so it is worth reading them in order. Recommend.

Intriguing, suspenseful and interesting sci fi trilogy that was quite enjoyable. This is a perfect box set and the books are meant to be read as a series and definitely not a stand alone.

This series of events from the books has Dr. Kite offering an implant to help and where we meet
Gigi, Lilly and Ellen. This implants alters/changes they way they see them-self. Ellen is trying desperately to lose weight and feel good about herself, Gigi is looking for love and Lilly trying to get through her feelings from a divorce. With Dr. Kite’s game changing offer….will this help Ellen, Lilly and Gigi….until he finds out there is some defects in the microchips…

As the story continues in book 2, the ladies try and move on with their life, making sense of it all. You get more from Lilly, Gigi and Ellen as they navigate their next steps…..what is Dr. Kite up to next…..and the epic conclusion in book 3 find out what happens to the end……definitely a roller coaster ride of twists and turns ………

Great trilogy and highly recommended!

I highly recommend picking up the first in the series to get the background, and then continue the thrilling story with this installment. Lucky Break (Trentbridge Tales #2)Lucky Break by Lee Wood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another gripping crime thriller in the ‘Trentbridge Tales’ series which kept me hooked throughout. This standalone story follows Peter Winston-Moore who told rival dealers that he had discovered the genuine Picasso in a junk shop which then sold at Sotheby’s for $5.4 million. Peter then goes from being a bit of a wheeler dealer to running an exclusive art and antiquates gallery. Peter’s luck does not seem to end there though, as he keeps finding valuable items which other dealers have overlooked. Three of these dealers then become so curious about him that they follow him with disastrous consequences. Ex police detective James Sheldon is now a private investigator who’s been asked to prove the innocence of the main suspect in a murder which took place at the Albion Hotel. As James digs deeper he discovers that everyone involved has dark secrets that they want to keep. The blurb says that “The Trentbridge Crime series is as much about the location as the characters”, and the settings are definitely brought vividly to life by the descriptive narrative and added details, which add to the overall story. The characters are well developed and I felt engaged with them, as well as being fully immersed in the narrative. The storyline and plot twists kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story, making this a real page turner of a novel.

Lucky Break is the second book in the Trentbridge Tales series. It is a British crime thriller full of action, suspense, mystery, murder, intrigue, deception, art, danger, secrets, and lies. Although it can easily be read as a standalone, I do recommend reading the first book because some of the characters overlap. The book brings back Detective Sheldon whom we met in the first book. James Sheldon is now working as a Private Investigator who has been asked to prove the innocence of the main suspect in a murder at the Albion Hotel. The murder involves a man who seems to have had several lucky breaks in the art world that have amassed him millions of dollars. Unfortunately, his luck ran out and he ended up dead. Now it is up to PI Sheldon to solve his murder. He is smart, feisty, and determined to solve the case. As PI Sheldon digs into the case and unravels the clues, he discovers an unlikely murder suspect who has been hiding right under his nose the whole time. The case takes some unexpected twists and turns that makes the book impossible to put down. Anxiously awaiting the next book in this amazing series!

This set includes all three books in the trilogy: Alteration, Game Changer, and Primal Will. I liked the concept of this dystopian, sci-fi series; however, there were times where I found myself lost and having to go back and re-read. I also felt like Suen jumped around sometimes causing the reader to question themselves. But overall I enjoyed the suspense and mystery of the books and I would recommend them. I would suggest reading them in order and going ahead and getting the set because you are going to want to start the next book as soon as you finish.

Prepare for a thrilling ride with this series that will keep you thinking about the possibilities for many nights to come.

Watch as these chips all get implanted only to find out two have a dangerous defective flaw that causes utter chaos and absolute devestation for the rising doctor who was so close to perfecting mind control with his chips.
After nearly losing everything you follow Dr Kite in book 2 who is in the depths of despair and the 3 women trying to move on with their lives, but someone hasnt let that night of destruction go and the threads that tie the entire story and all 4 lives together are about to come together in an ending you didnt see coming….Dr Kite still has two chips left and hes got his eyes set on a young girl struggling to survive…or is she???
I literally yelled “What?!?!?” Out loud at 1130 at night in the final section of this trilogy.
This is a very fast paced book, you have to enjoy quick plot development and many POV changes to truly enjoy this series as otherwise it may be too abrupt for some. I felt it was Brilliant!

The Trentbridge Crime series is as much about the location as the characters.
Characters come and go during this series, but we see more of the town of Trentbridge with each book. We start in London in this story, but then plot slowly turns to Trentbridge and the Albion Hotel. It’s really easy to get caught up in this story and wonder if the main character will ever get his lucky break. Does getting that lucky break last? Read to find out!

Once he has this and word gets out….then hunt is on..how did Peter get his hands on this masterpiece from Picasso? This is the second book in the Trentbridge Tales series. Even though each book is a standalone once you read one you will definately want to read more. I love this author’s work, the writing and character building is great but what I really love is the fact it is set in areas I recognised and grew up in. There isn’t many references to the town of Market Drayton which is where I grew up, so when I read this in the story I was more in love than before.
This story is a dark gritty read which is full of secrets, lies and danger. The twists and turns kept me guessing all the way through and I couldn’t put it down.
When Peter discovers a genuine masterpiece in a junk shop he finally gets his big break, the big break he has been waiting his whole life for. Life should be good now right? As he continues he finds more and more profitable finds which has his competitors questioning how he is doing it.
When a murder occurs it falls to Detective James Sheldon to sort all the pieces of the puzzle and work out just what went wrong and who the murderer actually is. But with a suspect list growing bigger and bigger and the secrets and dark pasts being revealed by everyone he questions James will need more than Luck to solve this case.
This is an edge of your seat read that I loved and couldn’t put down. I was completely captivated by this story and the author writes in a way that flows well so it feel like a fast paced read.

Shadow (Devil's Handmaidens MC-Book Two)Shadow by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shadow is the Enforcer for the Devil’s Handmaidens MC and she is as badass as they come, but as a child, Zoey went through more suffering, abuse and pain than any child should and that is what brought her to where she is now, thanks to Maggie and her family taking her in and showing her what safety and family should look like, but all those experiences also made her into the icy hearted woman she is today. Panther is a Navajo Indian with look as dark as sin and muscles to boot, he is also a horse rancher and from the minute he saw Shadow, he knew he needed to know more about her, including why she was getting a full skull tattooed onto her face and looking like it was nothing, but fate would lead them apart for a while, but when they reconnect it is more business than pleasure.

To the outside, she has no fear and instead puts the fear of God into anyone who gets on her bad side, including the members of the MC which she founded with the Prez, the sisters who she now protects and their families with fierce passion, but when she sees Panther again, she is not ready for the emotions which would come along with it. It turns out that he has a similar mission to them and when the opportunity arises for her to help save some innocents from experiencing what she did, she is all in, however, what she doesn’t expects is how close to her past the mission really is, that is until it comes back around and the danger lurks around every corner.

As they work more closely together, Shadow cannot help but be drawn to Panther and his mysterious past which has created his present, it both calms, enrages, frustrates and illicit emotions she tried to bury to keep herself safe, but he is persistent and passionate, but more understanding that she believes she deserves and when things go south trying to help these innocent youths, she knows that she cannot hide any longer, but will she be able to take that leap of faith and find something good in the evil surrounding them, or will she be drawn into a darkness which she won’t be able to escape from? This is another great MC romance with one hell of a bite where lines blur and past, present and future collide to bring a journey which will leave your heart racing and stopping all at once as this actin packed, emotional rollercoaster plays out in front of you.

Rival dealers have been informed by Peter Winston-Moore that he found the real Picasso at a rubbish shop. At Sotheby’s, it went for $5.4 million. It indicates that he has transformed from a shoddy wheeler-dealer to the proprietor of a prestigious art and antiquities gallery. And other merchants have taken notice as he continues to unearth priceless antiques. With terrible results, three of them decide to pursue him out of curiosity for his unknown source.

Every page had you hanging on every sentence and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. It is a very unique story with even compelling people. The story really transports you into this world. I couldn’t put the book down.
