My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read by this author and I was not disappointed. This story was entertaining, intriguing, suspenseful, had great characters and left me wanting more. We get to see character growth in Clayton, he is trying to be better after making mistakes in his past. Clayton now works for Jimmy in the repo business and while trying to overcome his past mistakes he realizes that he has other problems in himself he needs to also overcome. I don’t want to give anything away, so I will just say that this is a good read. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us in the book in this series.

You quickly discover Clayton, not Clay, is one of those guys who is trying to fix his past by changing his current self. You learn that as an ex-cop he made some mistakes and is trying to get back to his cop life and his family that he lost. He didn’t come from the best parenting but wants to do better.

Then you learn he is a repo guy. The description of the boat repos had me relating as I am not the best on a boat either. But you can relate to him in various ways.

The ex-cop turned FBI helper and the crew working at D&D puts the work they do into real perspective. It also shows that you have to be a team player when it comes to certain types of work as well.

This was my first time reading this author and I thoroughly enjoyed the crime and thriller this story brought and will be reading more. It was one that once you got engaged you needed to know what was going to happen next. Wither it was Clay, Cassie, Wendell, Neil…. I needed to know what was happening next. I loved that it was a fast paced read to.

Riveting, page turning thriller. So much evil and so much good in one book. I couldn’t put this down!

Angie and her friends were kidnapped and held captive when they were on vacation. Angie, the only survivor, is traumatized and not speaking. The police must piece together if she is a victim or a mastermind. I now will also be checking into the “Jake and Cody” series, as well.

Spring break is supposed to be full of fun times, making positive core memories, but not for Angie and her group of three friends. One night during their spring break, evil was lurking. The night ended with the three friends being dead and Angie arrested for murder. The Girl Who Escaped follows Angie’s struggle to find the person who did this to them and with the help of FBI Agent Brenda Reynolds, she just may be able to do it.
The Girl Who Escaped is full of twists, turns, and excitement. Angie’s mental trauma and feelings are relatable. Each character was thoughtfully created, and the characters and the events are realistic. There were a couple of areas that may have been discrepancies, if they were not discrepancies then a little more information could have been used to ensure that they were not confused as such, but I still could not put it down and the possible discrepancies did not take away from the greatness of the book.
Overall, I highly recommend any mystery/thriller/suspense lover to read The Girl Who Escaped. Some events may be triggers for some survivors, so just be aware when you go to read this book.

Interesting mystery thriller
This was a first from this author for me and it was an intriguing story. The writing was easy to read and pretty detailed. The layers within the storyline were interwoven well and I was kept interested through the whole book. There was a rawness to the character development that I enjoyed as it made them all the more real and relatable. With action, emotion, mystery and suspense this is a definite recommend from me.

The author is completely new to me. However all the ranting and raving proved true. The action and suspense that you get from the story really pulls you in. Clayton was a character down on his luck and trying to make ends meet. The more the story progresses he becomes more than just another man with mistakes that were made. A story wrapped in drama, addiction, mystery, and action all rolled into until one. The question at hand is can Clayton be redeemed..

The FBI is following his every move just watching and waiting for him to say yes. He’s working at the repo shop just waiting to redeem himself for the mistakes he made in his past, but will his past come back and get him in the long run? A great read!

Shake Down is the first book in the First Coast Thriller Series and once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. This is a Thriller/Crime that pulls you in from the beginning and keeps on the edge of your seat trying to figure out what is going to happen next. This is a fairly new author to me but I’m a fan already. His style of writing and attention to detail and his characters are relatable and fully developed make for a wonderful story. This is a fast paced story that is packed with action and suspense. Clayton is a ex-cop who is now working repo and has repossessed a boat that turns out to belong to Cartel. He finds himself in a situation where now the cartel is after him they want their boat back. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Goddess of Everything: A Blood-Curdling Tale of Truth, Freedom, and Love, by Paul DeBlassie III, is the first book that I have read from this author. I’ve never been into horror or thriller or religious books, but this book had me hooked. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The authors writing style is phenomenal. I was immediately captured within the first chapter.
Its horror but not really the nightmare type kind where you’ll wake up in the middle of the night screaming. The evil as some people would say wasn’t evil to quite a few of the characters. It was just evil in its own way. When hiding something that is evil inside something that is good, a ying Yang type of situation. But it seems like not everyone could do such a thing. Its interesting to see how people think of things like that in a way. This was a very well written book and I would recommend it for anyone to read.

Following a gambling addiction that causes his family to fall apart, ex-Cop Clayton Conway is repossessing boats and automobiles in order to raise his daughter and pay for his tiny apartment. When he repossesses a speedboat that belongs to the Orenato cartel his family and friends are in danger. Determined to do whatever it takes Conway will keep his loved ones safe.

Shake Down is the first book in the First Coast Thriller Series. This thriller mystery is an edge of your seat kind of read. Rosamilia engages his readers with his realistic storylines and relatable characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick paced, enjoyable thriller. I can’t wait to see what is in store for book two.

Shake Down (First Coast Thriller Book 1) by Armand Rosamilia – Review by Maryn Belling

When self-fulfilling catastrophe strikes people make one of 3 choices:
try to get back to “before”
wallow in self-pity
get help, learn, grow, and move forward

Too “in your face”? Ok look at a plant gone to seed. It can become:
harvested & dried for future planting
mulched into the ground as nutrients for others
get carried off by a bird or wildlife to a new field

That’s where we find Clayton “don’t call me Clay” – 3 years into self-pity & trying to get back to “before”. Even his daughter can see he needs help. Will he grab a lifeline, or will he continue to pour alcohol on his backward-looking journey?

If you’ve ever wondered what The Sopranos or Sons of Anarchy would be like if it were relocated to Jacksonville, recalibrated with bougie rum, Jaws one-liners, a soundtrack country and trop pop, Shakedown marks the spot on your treasure map.

Does the Shakedown map lead to redemption from addiction & self-destruction?

The kindle book includes a few chapters of book 2 in the series to continue the beach read.

CWs: addiction, alcoholism, divorce, toxic masculinity

This is a book that will hook you into the plot from the first chapter and keep your emotions on edge. Angie is faced with a series of traumas that knock her silent and scared. Brenda is sent to by the FBI to be her victim advocate and requests the assistance of Jake and his K-9 trained companion, Cody. With the help of this trio, Angie is able to break her silence and seek revenge on the man that killed her friends. I loved how the storyline unraveled and all the twists and turns kept me turning the page. While I loved the book, the ending left me wanting more closure for some of the characters.

Clayton is a man that has made some really bad life decisions but is doing his best to correct his past mistakes. Growing up with a father that was well known for his criminal connections and prolific lifestyle wasn’t easy. He became a cop and was doing well, until his gambling problem cost him his job and his family. Now, three years later, he’s working for a repo company, keeping his head down, trying to win his family back, and get his job back in law enforcement. When his boss involves him in a boat repo of a drug cartel, he finds himself being approached by the FBI. And as if that wasn’t crazy enough, suddenly, his sister- that spells out trouble every time she’s around- is back in town. Between the FBI pursuing him, his sister’s cryptic conversations, and his dad coming up again, he’s not sure which way is up. Can Clayton-not Clay- help the FBI, and figure out his sister before all is lost? Or is this just the beginning of something greater than him?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I could envision each character as the story played out. His boss and coworkers were all believable. The author did an excellent job writing the struggles of each character and their thought processes. I appreciated that Clayton started realizing that it wasn’t just the gambling that was the problem, but his selfishness and self-loathing that makes him unapproachable to others. When he really starts to look past himself and see others, that is when he truly starts to change and see what has been right in front of him for the last three years.

This is the first of many books, I hope!

Logan McKenna is enjoying her new life, including marrying her long-time love, Ben, playing her cherished violin, Bella, and taking long, morning runs on the magnificent Oregon coast. Fascinated by the abundance of owls, eagles, hawks, and ospreys she encounters, Logan volunteers at a wildlife rescue center, where she becomes immersed in the world of raptors and those who fight for these fierce, wild creatures.

But when Logan finds a coworker dead on the floor in an animal treatment room, the peaceful forest becomes a scene of tragedy—and maybe murder. There are no signs of a violent struggle, but the office next door has been vandalized and the cause of death remains unclear. Even the official autopsy finds no evidence of homicide, but Logan thinks things just don’t add up.

When the police investigation stalls, Logan takes matters into her own hands. With the help of two local friends, she sets out to uncover the killer. The deeper she digs, the more the killer’s attention turns chillingly toward Logan.

Racing against time, Logan must use all her skills and strength to find the truth, before she becomes prey and is silenced forever.

In Plain Sight is an immersive mystery and a satisfying, multi-layered story about friendship and trusting your instincts, even if—especially if—you’re not sure where they will lead.

The Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan – Review by Angela Hayes

The Girl Who EscapedThe Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Girl Who Escaped is the latest thrilling read from Mark Nolan. This story is a bit of a spin-off from his Jake Wolfe series, but fans of Jake and Cody needn’t worry, these two fan favourites haven’t been put on the sidelines- as both return to play an important part in this new story.
You don’t have to have read the Jake Wolfe series in order to appreciate this book- but having said that, if you did happen to read the series first, then it would definitely give you an even greater appreciation of this story.
FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds is called in to investigate after the only survivor of a murder spree is left in a somewhat catatonic state, due to the trauma of the attack. She hasn’t spoken since the police arrived on the scene, and at present is the leading suspect in their investigation. Angie has been locked up in a psychiatric institution since her breakdown, and all efforts to communicate with her have failed. What can Brenda bring to the table to help get Angie talking again? It is crucial to the investigation to find out what happened on that dark and lonely road the night of the attack, so Brenda is willing to do whatever it takes to find out what happened, and hunt down the killer before more girls become victims. If that means bringing Jake and Cody on board, then she’s willing to work with them, even though they have a bit of a difficult past. With murder, kidnapped girls, obsession, danger, a game of cat and mouse, and plenty of twists- definitely made this an exciting read.
I can’t wait to see what Mr. Nolan does next!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Mark Nolan!

Wow, great story!! I am so happy I picked up this book to read and I was totally hooked from page one of this crime/thriller.

Down on his luck, Clayton Conway, is working for a repo company and trying to get his life back together again. Some past events led up to him losing his previous job as a cop. While working on a repo job to reclaim some boats…..of course these boats are owned by cartel. Will the cartel reclaim their boats?

I love how this story unfolds, crooked thiefs, cartel….but also Clayton’s story and also his father and sister come into play….and the ending!! I cannot wait to keep reading this series and diving into

I have learnt to expect the unexpected from this author and his books and this one is no exception. I think this book has to be my favourite of them all so far. I was riveted by the story unfolding in front of me, and the way it was developed so perfectly. I kept changing my mind on what I thought had happened, never really able to settle on an answer leaving me open to be surprised as the story developed.
I thought the book was so well written. The characters were brilliant. I bought into them just as much as the story itself. The whole book had me gripped and I read it all in one sitting. This is another example of why I enjoy this author so much and I urge everyone to add this to their TBR piles straight away!

SPOILERS AHEAD

This author is a good author, but his books just aren’t for me. This book was very, very graphic and a little too disturbing for me. There is child mutilation in it, if there was a content warning, I missed it. But if you’re a lover of reading horror, then this would be a great book for you. I’m just not into it. Writing wise, it’s fantastic. Detailed, pulls the reader in, and has a good story line. But as I already said, it is fairly graphic. I’m just not a paranormal/horror book reader.

Clayton misses his old life….his wife, his kid, his job as a cop. He’s doing his best to right his previous wrongs and is working as a repo man. When he’s asked to repo a boat, he gets weak in the knees and literally spends the rest of the trip throwing up. Little does he know, that’s how his stomach would feel since the cartel is now on his back.

This is a new-to-me author and I found myself unable to put this book down for any extended period of time. It was fast-paced, full of action and adventure. There are several jokes included, mostly movie references, that put a smile on the face of the reader and one particular scene that made me fist pump in the air! I look forward to reading more from Mr. Rosamilia as I really enjoyed this story!
