  1. I enjoyed this book by R.B. Fields. I have read only a few reverse harem books, but I do find them interesting and I find I really like that genre. The story of Daw, Silas, Markulaz, Draynor, and Kain was a fun read. The story included some drama and mystery, and it was exciting. R.B. Fields created a vibrant world. I look forward to the next book in this series.View all my reviews

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dawn Macewan is a nurse by day and a badass human woman who follows the darkness that lives inside her and draws her to the darkness in others and uses it to solve the unsolvable murders and when she does, she goes after the serial killers before incapacitating them and handing them over to the authorities, but that is all about to change when her latest one turns out to be a vampire and a mean one at that. As she walks down the boardwalk late at night and well after the imposed curfew, she is ready to confront the evil where it preys upon the women, suddenly she hears him approaching her from behind, she grasps her mothers knife and prepares for the inevitable attack, but when she sees another man at the other end of the bridge, she is not prepared for the reaction she has to him, the man with the violet eyes staring back at her.

As the reality dawns on her that there are actually two of them, she is determined to at least get in some damage of her own before she is taken down, but when the guy in front of her disappears, she then feels a bolt of pain in the back of her head and as she struggles back to her feet, she knows the guy is behind her, she can hear him breathing, but as she attempts to get to her phone and finish the call to the authorities, he grabs her arm and wrenches her arm out of the socket, but as he shifts his weight to get behind her, she stabs him in the thigh with her knife, but she cannot escape him and the rest of her blows don’t seem to affect him at all and that’s when he starts to strangle her. As she knows she is about to die, the pressure suddenly releases and she hears a tearing sound in the air and she turns to see both men on the boardwalk, the one who tried to kill her is dead and ripped apart on the boards and the other is above him and when he approaches her, his face is covered in blood.

The man approaches her, knowing that he may attack her, but she is drawn to him and it appears that he is feeling the same way as he offers her his hand, she doesn’t trust him, but as he asks her questions, she just barks a laugh at him and as they both realise that she isn’t afraid of him like she should be, even when she lets slip that she knows he is a vampire too, although she says she is surprised seeing as they were working together, he puts that right as soon as she says it disgusted even at the idea. He seems to make a decision there and asks her to go with him and see the others, she agrees to go, liking the idea of safety in numbers, especially when vampires are involved, so getting on his motorcycle, they head back to his group and as she thinks over what she has just seen and how it will affect her future, but the feeling that she is in danger overarches everything else. When they arrive at the vampires home, it is not what she expected, but at the same time she understands the need for it, however as the door opens and a discussion about her ensues, she is not sure what her best option is, to go home and face certain death, or stay here and face possible death.

When Dawn tries to sleep and fails when her nightmares start, she gives up and gets dressed, but realises her knife is missing and goes to find the guy who brought her there, he is the only one who knows about it, however when she goes to confront him, she cannot deny the attraction between them and before she knows it, she is overcome with desire and so is he and they spend the night together, but when the next day, they all set off together somewhere else, she finds that it isn’t just the him she is attracted to and when things start to heat up between her and one of the others in the group, she doesn’t know what to do about it, but that is just the start of the unusual occurrences as they escape from the other vampire group chasing them down, but will she be able to survive them, or will whatever she has gotten in to be ruined before it can even start?

This is an erotic romance with a twist as secrets are revealed and tensions mount leaving you wanting to find out what those secrets are and as this fast paced novel whirls you to the end it keeps you interested all the way through.

Beckoned (Book One of the Born In Darkness series) by R.B. Fields was a really good read! If you enjoy steamy stories with an actual storyline, this book is for! Reading this synopsis, I thought this book was going to be a little funnier than what it was. It wasn’t really funny to me, but it was entertaining, steamy and suspenseful with some graphic violence involved. This definitely not a book for people under the age of 18. The storyline was interesting, and the ending definitely leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series!

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Born Of Darkness series and wow what a start. I love anything to do with vampires so this book was perfect for me. I really liked the adult theme in the relationship between our strong female character and the male vampires.

Dawn knows something is different about her but she doesn’t know what that is. After a run in with what she believes was a human serial killer she is shocked when she realises its a vampire and that another vampire saves her.

Now with the hive of the dead vampire after them Silas knows they have to leave and keep Dawn safe. Not everyone in his hive is happy with that idea especially not their leader Markula.

As they leave to escape the vampires after them the relationships between them grows and they learn that by being with Dawn their powers are increasing which is just as well if they are to defeat the forces against them.

Can they face the odds and win? What is Dawn? Is she human or something more? Can their love survive or will Dawn be the death of them all?

This is the first book by this author that I have read but it certainly won’t be my last, I absolutely loved this one! From the very first chapter I was hooked, Once I started reading, I found it incredibly hard to stop so I ended up reading it in one sitting, and then all I wanted to do once I reached the end was dive into the next book of the series, which I’m really looking forward to reading!

This author wrote with so much detail that I was immediately enticed by the storyline and the fantastic characters. It’s a fast paced paranormal read with lots of action, entertaining and witty characters, and steamy scenes, so many deliciously steamy scenes. It was truly a pleasure to read from start to finish.

This is a book I would recommend to anyone looking for their next paranormal read, you will not be disappointed.

Beckoned: Born Of Darkness (Book 1) by R.B. Fields is a paranormal erotic story with string characters that will really capture your attention. I found myself utterly hooked by them and their story – vampires, a hunter and a whole lot of sexy. The book was well developed from start to finish. The author knew just how to push the story forward and when to pull back just a little. This is a new author for me and if all of their books are like this then I am excited to read more.

Beckoned is the first book in the Born of Darkness series by R.B. Fields. This book also appears to be the author’s debut novel. I love anything vampire- so it was a given that I would be reading this book the moment it showed up on my recommended book list.
It has a refreshingly original take on the whole vampire lore- making for a captivating read. With drama, humour, and plenty of sizzle- this introduction to the author’s work ensures that I will definitely be coming back for more.

I loved reading the book Beckoned (Born of Darkness Book 1) by R. B. Fields. I have always loved vampire stories and this book is a good example of why. The story tells a dark tale that had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next, I loved the characters. There are strong main characters that are well-developed. I found myself lost in the pages and the ending seemed to come too soon. I also enjoyed reading about the part that the additional characters play. The author does an amazing job of making the story and the characters come alive. Don’t miss out on an interesting. Intriguing, exciting, and entertaining book. I highly recommend it.

Beckoned (Born of Darkness, Book 1)Beckoned by R.B. Fields
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Over the years, I’ve read many different kinds of vampire books – so many that I run the risk of reading the same old vampire story.
In saying that, I took a chance on this book and I’m happy that I did. I’ve really enjoyed the journey that R.B. Fields took me on. I felt transported into a new world and the characters are refreshing. The book starts off by introducing the strong, kick ass, independent human that quickly falls into the dreamy and irresistible world of Silas- The vampire.
Their story intrigued me – pulling me in with their quick wit, their banter and their burning emotions. Their story soon turns into a multi point of view story just as I was starting to learn about Dawn and Silas. As much as I love a multi voiced story, the amount of voices put in here almost became too much. It felt busy and almost like a competition too be heard. I got distracted and I felt some characters were just not as interesting as others.
That being said, this story still grabbed my interest from the first page and I completely fell in love with the world building too. It leaves me hungry for more.

This is a new author for me and I look forward to seeing what is next for them. This is a well rounded story that has vampires and lots of action. This is a fast paced story that kept me turning pages to the end. The characters made the story feel real and they are connectable. I had no problem seeing myself with them. They made the story fun and entertaining to read. This is a story about a strong female hunter who is a nurse by day and a serial hunter by night. What will happen when she realizes that the person she is hunting is not only a vampire but hot to look at as well. Sometimes fate has a way of stepping in to determine your life mate or could there be more than one. I enjoyed seeing a strong female hunter and watching her grow throughout the story was great. She was my favorite and really made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

Beckoned (Born of Darkness Book 1) by R. B. Fields

~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~ BOOK SPOTLIGHT SHOWCASE ~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~ ♥ ~
Beckoned (Born of Darkness Book 1) by R. B. Fields
Genre – Paranormal romance, erotic romance, vampire romance
Page Count – 216 pages
Sexy vampires with attitudes, a strong female hunter who holds the key to their demise, and a vampire race who knows her very life is a threat. Things would be easier if she didn’t love them.
By day, I’m an emergency room nurse—normal enough. By night, I stalk the streets, hunting serial killers that the police can’t seem to catch. Less normal, but way more fun in a twisted kinda way…until one of those serial killers turns out to be a freaking vampire. The only thing standing between me and certain death is a handsome stranger who also happens to come with fangs.
Twisted or not, even I didn’t see that one coming.
But vampires aren’t supposed to kill their own, and worse, my new friend did it for a human—it won’t be long until the dead vampire’s clan catches up to us. And though his hive of motorcycle riding alpha warriors each come with their own merits, not all four are friendly—some would rather throw me to our enemies than help me. It makes them especially nervous that their powers don’t seem to work when I’m nearby. But it soon becomes clear that we’ll need each other to get out of this alive.
Are my fighting skills any match for the supernatural? Can my hive of monsters defend me, and themselves, against the wrath of a species already on the verge of extinction? Why am I so drawn to all of them?
And why choose just one?
The Born of Darkness series is high heat reverse harem paranormal romance that features one badass female hunter, her four fated vampire mates, and provocative MFMMM scenes.

Eye of Death (Vampire State, #3)Eye of Death by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Vampire State series and it is just as enjoyable as the the first two books. The story keeps you gripped as you want to find out what happens. Rowena is a great character and the story about her indecision and confusion is really well written. I would definately recommend reading the first 2 books in this series as it will help you completely grasp the story.

The war is raging over freedom for humans in a vampire state. Rowena is not a reporter on the street right in the eye of the storm. In the middle of the war raging all around her. Her jobs is made all the more harder when she doesn’t know which side she wants to be on.
Add to this her blossoming romance with a human Prince and everything is uncertain in her world.

This story is full of action and adventure with danger and romance thrown into the mix as well.

Eye of Death: A paranormal romance (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur

Eye of Death (Vampire State, #3)Eye of Death by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rowena is back and she is making a go of being an independent journalist with the help of Quintus, but on this day when she wakes up thinking she is late for work, she realises that she is on her own time and couldn’t be late but still getting up early is not easy for her, as she stumbles into the kitchen to find a note from Vincenzo, he is trying with these notes and today’s is no different with a joke and breakfast in the fridge. As she heads out to do an interview with Prince Antet with her sandwich in tow, she is thinking about the statement she released the day before and what the reactions to it have been, but she hasn’t got time to check them. As she pulls into a parking space near where the hotel is and checks in with Quintus, it is busy in the lobby and there are other news anchors making their own preparations, so she walks to the hotel and goes in via the back entrance and passed the Prince’s security, she pretty much walks into Quintus at the top of the stairs.

They head up to the Prince’s suite and she waves to an ex-colleague on the way, enjoying the look of surprise when he sees her, when she and Quintus arrive there, the Prince welcomes them with open arms, he is not quite ready to start the interview, but they talk and joke a little before talking about the format of the interview and how it is going to work without any camera’s present. They decide to record the audio only and then over coffee, they start the interview. They cover topics about both Rowena and the Prince and Rowena realises that she is getting from the Prince what she wanted from Vincenzo, it is a surprise and sets the tone for the rest of the interview, after it is all checked and completed and everyone is happy with the content and the agreement to allow more interviews in the future, Rowena and Quintus get ready to leave the hotel, this is when the Prince pulls Rowena to the side and asks her out on a date, Rowena says she will think about it and leaves.

As Vincenzo and Rowena prepare to leave for an event, they detour to see a friend on the way, but nothing new can be gleaned about the ULA political party through this source, so they head on to the event and meet Quintus there. The conversations on the boat aren’t wholly desirable to the humans on board and the news that one of the higher profile politicians has defected to the ULA, meaning that their hard work is about to become even harder is when Vincenzo confronts the party members at the same event, but it doesn’t end well and there is an argument between himself and Rowena, he leaves her standing in the cold and to fend for herself to get home again, alone. It is a few weeks later on that Rowena prepares for another interview with the Prince and this time, she is taking a camera with her as it is about the trade deal between Sanguinia and Kemet she will be reporting on, but when she gets to the Senatorio, things do not go quite to plan and it is only later on back at the hotel she finds out why and as things become heated, she takes the camera and shows the reality of the current situation and who is responsible for it/

This is the third installment of the Vampire State series and what a continuation it is, but can Rowena, Vincenzo and Quintus pull together or will this latest battle rip them all apart? Whose side is anyone on and will they stay that way, or will the lines blur? The only way to find out what the future holds is to read the book and find out.

Eye of Death is the third book in the Vampire State series. In order to truly appreciate this book, you need to read the two previous ones.
This book is a great continuation of the series. Rowena is deciding on her loyalties. Eye of Death contains some suspense, danger, drama, and social commentary that lead to some surprising twists. There isn’t much more I can say without ruining the impact of the story with spoilers.

Rowena is back and trying to figure out which path she needs to take. This book hooked me from the first page and I just couldn’t put it down until I finished the last.Alexander Charalambides has a very interesting take on vampires that makes the story not like other vampire romance. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Eye of Death: A paranormal romance (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides, 4 stars.

Rowena is back and just trying to figure things out in this her new life. She has ideals, things she strongly believes in, and will do anything to uphold these. You really see her grow and learn to make her own decisions. She is a very strong character, yet she has her issues like anyone. She is what makes this series so good. The story itself is gripping and interesting, dystopia at it’s best.

This is the third book in the series and you really have to read the first two before you read this one. The one thing, I wish there was a short lead-in or reminders of what happened in previous books. It has been a long time since I read the last book, with many other books in between. It took me a bit to not feel lost. Of course, I do have a horrible memory. However, once I got into it, I could not put the book down.

If you are a fan of supernatural dystopia, I recommend this book and series.

This entire series is light, paranormal reading set in the perfect setting of New Orleans. I really have enjoyed Jane in the past but this gave a new insight into her and her marriage to Ethan. Also, one would ask how Santa Claus could fit into the story, but seriously you need to read this to find out. This is full of laughs and great characters. A definite getaway from this cruddy year. This also has to be one of the best holiday stories that I have read. It has the right amount of holiday cheer and story depth to make it more than just a Christmas story. This author has such a great way of creating a gripping book with such strong characters. I have yet to read one of her stories that I didn’t enjoy. Are you ready for a laugh riot? Looking for something to tickle your funny bone? Want to escape into a world filled with fun characters and humor galore? Then you need to pick up this fantastic book by Carrie Pulkinen! Santa Got Run Over by a Vampire is the 4th installment in the New Orleans Nocturne book series and Ms. Pulkinen keeps the fabulousness going with this latest read. Now, mind you, this is a stand-alone book. But I’ve said it before, do yourself a HUGE favor and pick up this series. You’ll want to get to know all of these wonderful characters and their stories.

Now, this latest book is about Jane Devereux (from License to Bite) and her antics adjusting to her new life. Jane is adjusting to her life fabulously until a small encounter with Father Christmas. Now with only 3 days to teach Santa the ways of the Vampire and get him back to the North Pole in time, things are a bit tense. Oh! And did I forget to mention Jane’s dad, the governor of Texas is coming for a visit to see her? Talk about a stressful Christmas! Follow Jane, her hubs-hottie Ethan, and their nocturnal friend Gaston as they try to get through this holiday!

With witty banter, great chemistry between the main characters, and a fun-loving story, Ms. Pulkinen hits a trifecta with her latest book. I loved being able to see each of the characters again and learning what they’ve been up to in their lives. Add in the fun town of New Orleans and great sub-characters, you can’t help but fall in love with this book. If you’re looking for a feel-good holiday read (you know, like a Hallmark Christmas movie type story with tons of laughs), then pick this beauty up.

Carrie is back at it again with another amazing addition to the New Orleans Nocturnes series! This is the fourth edition, and i have read, and loved every single book i have read from Carrie so far! This one in particular is absolutely hilarious. The main characters from “License to bite” make a hilarious return, This time to deal with Santa. Now each of these books can be stand alones, though you can read them in order if you like! I definitely recommend this author as a whole! I’ve loved her work from the start and i think you will too!

Eye of Death (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides – Review by Jenni Bishop

Eye of Death (Vampire State, #3)Eye of Death by Alexander Charalambides
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eye of Death: A paranormal romance (Vampire State Book 3) by Alexander Charalambides is a paranormal vampire romance. Alexander has an original and unique portrayal of vampires. This series is exciting and is a creative new world. It is fast paced like the first two books and is interesting and compelling. With political intrigue and action, danger and the drama and before I knew it the story was over. L look forward to where Alexander takes us next with this compelling story.
