Cain is called to a murder to help investigate in only the way he can but what he sees at the crime scene brings his past slamming back to him. A past that no one should have ever had to witness but what he sees means he needs to talk to the one person he never wanted to see face to face, the one person who knows what it means. Cain is faced with saving her from one horror to another. He is the only one who can save her and he will stop at nothing to make that happen.

Mercy Ledger knows of the horrors, the terrors that Cain has seen. She knows because she has survived her own macabre massacre but one horror has been replaced by another. One she is not sure she will survive this time but is willing to do what it takes, so the one she loves will not suffer any further. She knows no one but them will understand because she is damaged but so is he.

Will Cain hurt one of the people he loves to save just to save another? Will he ever feel free from a past that he can never escape? Will Mercy make the ultimate sacrifice to save one man’s soul?

This book is dark, twisted and bloody but it will keep you riveted by the twists and unknown as the story unfolds. It is heart wrenching to read about two people so broken that you just want to scoop them up and make it all better.
