Dissension (A Deliverance Series Novel Book #2) by Kristy Centeno – Review by Angela Hayes

Dissension (A Deliverance novel, #2)Dissension by Kristy Centeno
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dissension is the Deliverance series by Kristy Centeno. It is a fantastic paranormal story- with action, drama, thrills, excitement, edge of your seat suspense, gripping danger, supernatural elements, romance, and much more. There is so much packed in-between the covers of this book- the story pulled me in and kept me hooked right till the end. The story picks up a few months after the events in Deliverance (Book #1) and we are thrown right into the action. I have to say that it is every bit as good as the first book and I was so engrossed in it that I read it in one sitting. Although this could be read as a standalone if you wanted to, I really recommend reading the first book to get all the backstory, character information and other relevant details that will enhance your reading experience of this book.
It has been 6 months since the Institute was destroyed and all the captives were liberated. Hayden has spent the time adjusting to the world outside, building a life with Kristina. He is a very quick learner, but the transition hasn’t been easy. But now they discover that Gerald Radcliff’s business associates are determined to recreate what Gerald had achieved and pick up where he had left off. They have been scouring the countryside looking for all the hybrids, recapturing them for more experimentation. His life just became even more dangerous and will set off a new chain of events that will trust them ll into a new battle. There is a lot at stake, and Hayden will discover more about his past in the process.
Ms. Centeno has written such a powerful, detailed and vibrant story- she had me on the edge of my seat, following along to see what would happen. The story had twists and surprises that I didn’t see coming-all I could do was hold onto my seat and enjoy the ride.
The author has done an amazing job with her character development, as I was completely under their spell from beginning to end. The characters were fully realised, with their own unique traits and personalities. There was a lot of love, skill and attention to detail put into their conception and actualization.
This is a superb second instalment to the series and I look forward to more from Ms. Centeno!

Thank you, Ms. Centeno!

The Long Road to Serenity by M.L. Garcia – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Long Road to SerenityThe Long Road to Serenity by M.L. Garcia
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Long Road to Serenity is a sweet young adult friends to lovers romance story that found a way into my heart. The story flowed easily and was not rushed trying to get to the finish line. It slowly evolved and developed over time as our main characters “grew up”. You can’t help but to be drawn into their lives and into the story.

Astraea and Gabriel met when they were young children and together they grew and blossomed, but when things change promises that were made were broken. Love that was strong gave way to hurt. Lifelong bonds became shattered. Will they ever be able to find their way back to each other or will hurts from the past stop them? Will they be able to face their past and grow as individuals to find true love?

This is a great romance story

5 Stars

This is my first book by this author and I can honestly say it will not be my last. I loved every single thing about this story. The way she went back to the beginning to two young children meeting for the first time and forming a friendship was awesome. There was just enough in each part of the dated chapters for me to feel the relationship that was forming between Astraea and Gabriel, and I truly appreciated this story being told by both of them, having both of their thoughts and feelings made this story that much more special.

The twists and turns in their friendship was so real, I felt as they grew that it was awesome that it wasn’t all wine and roses and that real life can play havoc on any friendship, especially real life that includes fighting in combat in the Middle East and dealing with all of the after effects that brings.

I loved every one of the main characters in this story, I loved how the closeness that Astraea and Gabriel shared was shared and accepted by all the Varon brothers and how she became the little sister none of them thought they wanted. This was just an all around perfect story, one that had me reading every single second I could. I absolutely saw the drama coming but how it was all written was spot on!! The ending Oh My Word..I think I cried through the entire epilogue.

I want more!! I think Jasmine should get a story and each one of the Varon brothers as well, if this were to happen I would be the first in line to one click each one!!

Amazingly awesome!! One of those books that deserves a higher rating than we are allowed to give…

Open Season by Alisa Schindler is a who’s done it type story that will keep you guessing until the very end as to who murdered the coach. The list of suspects is just about as long as the book. Just when you think that you have worked it out Alisa throws a spanner into the works and twist it right around. Trying to piece it together to solve the mystery is near impossible. The book was written in an unusual way and it took me a while to get used to it. getting used to but by the end I think it actually fitted the storyline and plot well. There are a lot of characters in this book and I am not sure I connected to them but it is an interesting read.

This is a paranormal romance that is weaved and written so well you literally feel like you are part of the world that Lexi has conjured. I loved the first two books in this series and have loved every part of this story even more. This is one hell of a story as you are on the edge of your seat the entire time. The stories just keep on getting better with each book written. Lexi has ensured this story is action packed and has lots of twist you don’t see coming and you will find yourself completely immersed in each and everyone one of these lovable characters.

It is raw and emotional journey that has made her into the strong woman she is today. It is powerful, depressing, heartbreaking true account of everything she went through. I applaud you for sharing your life and your heart and every soul destroying thing you had to live through. But for all that Jessica endured she came out fighting and found her way in life with the support of those who love her. Blood Heart (Immortal Curse Series Book #3) by Lexi C. Foss – Review by Angela Hayes

Blood Heart (Immortal Curse, #3)Blood Heart by Lexi C. Foss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Heart is the third book in the Immortal Curse Series by Lexi C. Foss. This is such a breathtaking instalment in a spellbinding series, that has captured my imagination and imprinted itself on my heart and mind. I was seduced right from the beginning. It is a superb paranormal romance with action, adventure, suspense, drama, immortals, violence, danger, sexy strong women and panty melting Alpha male types, wonderful romance and very erotic encounters. But, before you dive in- be warned… this is seriously addicting reading! Be prepared to be blown away and end up going on a one-click frenzy to purchase all of the author’s other books.
As this is the third book in the series, I really recommend reading both the other books in their correct sequence, before starting this story- because, even though the books are based on different characters, there is a continuing/bridging story which is laid out in the first book and continues into each of the following stories. They introduce characters, back stories and other relevant information that make this book even more enjoyable, knowing all those details first.
I adored the first two books so much and was really excited to get my hands on this book. Having ‘met’ the central character in previous books, I was intrigued by them and the premise of their story. I must admit that I was a little worried that I may not like it as much as the previous books. But, Ms. Foss didn’t let me down, as this story is every bit as good as the others and is a PERFECT addition to the series. This story picks up a little after the events in ‘Forbidden Bonds’ and had me completely enthralled from the very first page. I was turning those pages as fast as I could, perched on the edge of my seat, and breathless with anticipation. There were so many twists, turns, and jaw dropping revelations that I was in awe of Ms. Foss, her creativity and talent are truly phenomenal! I was completely and utterly captivated…. I couldn’t put it down even if I had wanted to, which I didn’t, I NEEDED to know what would happen and where Ms. Foss would take us. I read it in one session.
I can’t begin to do this story the justice it deserves, so I am not even going to try to give you a rundown of the synopsis. The blurb does a better job than I ever could. I think diving in and immersing yourself in the story is the best way to truly appreciate it- AFTER reading the first two books, of course.
All I can say is that if you are a paranormal/fantasy/romance lover and you haven’t read this series, or are not familiar with Ms. Foss’s books, then you ARE really missing out and really should do yourself a favour by one-clicking the fudge out of her work… you are bound to love it/them just as much as I have/do!
Sublime!

Thank you, Ms. Foss!

BECKONED, Part 2: From Bath with LoveBECKONED, Part 2: From Bath with Love by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beckoned: From Bath with Love is the second part of the “Beckoned” series by Aviva Vaughn. The story picks up right where book one finished, so I really recommend that you read the first book before beginning this one to get the best reading experience.
This is a slow-burn, contemporary women’s fiction- that is jam packed full of vibrant and vivid descriptions of travel, adventure, food, longing, second chances, and romance. The book is a very quick and easy read, but the content certainly isn’t lacking. The author packed a lot into this book and it felt like a much longer novel, in a good way. I am really enjoying this series, following Angela and Soren on their journey. This book delves into their emotional mind sets, and we got to see a little more of their characters. There was insecurity, jealousy, push-pull, drama, and some complexity to their situation, that I thought made this story stand out a little more from the first.
As with the first book, I loved Ms. Vaughn’s attention to detail, and the way she used her words to bring Bath/London to life. I felt like I was right there with them.
The book has a fast pace and a smooth flow. And as with the first story, it still retains the ‘classic’ feel, much like a Jane Austin novel.
The writers style is smooth, inviting and very easy to read. She made me want to find out what would happen next, I really want to know where the story will lead, so I have already dived into the next book, that review will follow very soon!

Thank you, Ms. Vaughn!

The Night Manager by Tarrah Anders – Review by Angela Hayes

The Night ManagerThe Night Manager by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Night Manager by Tarrah Anders is a wonderful, sexy, sweet and fun- a light-hearted story that captivated me right from the beginning. This follows on from ‘Stripped’, and although this story is focused on different characters, we do get to catch up with Mal and Becks from book one, too. I really enjoy Ms. Ander’s writing, I have read a lot of her books now and she never disappoints. I loved Stripped, and this story is a worthy companion to that book.
This is Jacks (Mal from Stripped best friend and business partner) and Cam’s (Mal’s younger sister) story, and we catch up with them the morning after their drunken hook-up at Mal and Becks’ wedding. Jacks memory of the night is rather hazy to say the least, and even though he is very interested in Cam, he doesn’t want to cause any problems with his best friend Mal and would rather pretend the night never happened. So, they all head home and Becks does a great job of avoiding Cam for a couple of weeks- until she turns up on his doorstep needing somewhere to stay as she has nowhere else to go. So, he ends up with a house guest and his world will never be the same? What happens you ask? You really should read all the details for yourself- because it has so much going for it….. its playful, funny, sexy, spicy, romantic, and quite emotional at times- and I was hook right from the get-go!
Looking forward to more!

Thank You, Ms. Anders!

The Long Road to SerenityThe Long Road to Serenity by M.L. Garcia
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Long Road to Serenity by M.L Garcia is a friends-to-lovers story and the first book that I have read from this author. I really didn’t know what to expect going into the book and can now say that the author took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride, that had me zipping through a myriad of feelings before finally setting me back on my feet again, happier for the experience.
It seemed to me that the story read like a journal in parts and I am still not sure or if I liked or dislike it. I did enjoy the story and liked the characters, even though they frustrated me at times, especially with the push-pull that happened. The story touches on several sensitive topics, which I think the author handled compassionately, while still depicting them in an informative, realistic and believable way.
The characters do go through quite a lot and have some fairly intense issues and obstacles to get over. I liked how the author brought it all together in the end.

Thank you, Ms. Garcia!

Tease Me (Dirty Royals Book 2)Tease Me by Kaye Blue
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So the name of the book was changed from Take Me, and is now titled TEASE ME but isn’t updated here. I wish it showed a the cover picture, because it is very sexy!
This is the second book in the Dirty Royals Series by Kaye Blue. It is a friends to lovers/contemporary romance, with just enough drama and angst to keep things interesting. This is my second book by Kaye Blue and it’s every bit as good as the first. The characters a re fantastic, fully developed, interesting and likeable. They grew and evolved as the story progressed which made for some entertaining reading.
Dallas and Kristian have been friends for about 10 years. They have a great friendship, which evolves into more as the story unfolded. It really gets interesting when Dallas asks Kristian for a favour of sorts. He can’t believe it, and says no. But then when he thinks about it, he can’t stand the thought of someone else ‘helping’ her with her ‘problem’. And both their worlds get turned upside down. What happens to their friendship? Will things ever be the same between them? Will this strengthen their bond, or destroy it completely?
A sweet read!

Blood Will Tell (The Blood, #1) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Jana Teppih

Blood Will Tell (The Blood, #1)Blood Will Tell by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blood Will Tell is the first book in Colleen S. Myers’ new series called The Blood. I had not read anything else by this writer before and I have to say the synopsis was very ‘sterile’ and the only thing that made me to actually pick up a copy was that someone wrote it is ‘Twilight meets Divergent’ and as I am a hard core fan of both then I decided to give it a go! And I tell you I am happy to report that it was a very fortunate decision and I would not really say it is ‘Twilight meets Divergent’, I think it does disservice to the writer and to the story! Yes, it is a series that is a bit of a YA/NA paranormal fantasy mixes with science fiction sprinkled with a dash of romance but that does not mean that it does not stand in its own rights!
Blood Will Tell gives us the opening to the world after 2019 and is ruled by different vampire clans. They live in cities surrounded by walls made of pure steel and control the humans to the minutiae – how and where they work, that they exercise daily regardless of weather, take vitamins and … breed …and of course they give blood every month! In this world we meet Isabelle or Isa and she is our heroine and it is her journey that we will be taken on and then of course there is betrayal and danger and despair and hope and love triangle with Roke (a Vampire) and Alex (a human who captains the ship Roke and Isa use to escape the city) and … there are so many layers and intrigue and at the end of the first book you are left with ‘WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE BEING PUBLISHED’ and the story keeps hounding you and it probably will until Colleen hands us the next instalment in the series!

Nipslip (A Scandalous Slip Story Book #2) by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Angela Hayes

Nipslip: (A Scandalous Slip Story #2) (The Slip Series)Nipslip: (A Scandalous Slip Story #2) by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nipslip is the second book in The Slip Series by the Gwyn McNamee. It is a hilarious romantic comedy, that is wonderfully fun and playful while still delivering all the ‘feels’. As with the first book in the series, Dickslip, this story is refreshingly original, very funny, witty, and RED HOT! I was wondering if Ms. McNamee would be able to deliver on everything the blurb and teasers were promising, but of course she did! This book is every bit as good as the first, whilst having its own flavour and feel. And as I have come to expect from her stories and characters- there was so much to like… I fell in love with the story and the characters right from the beginning and was invested in them and the outcome of their story. There was no way I was able to put the book down before I had consumed every word. The only very minor issue I had was that the ending seemed just a little rushed. But it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book in any way. Ms. McNamee has proven time after time, what an exceptional author she is, delivering enthralling reads every time, no matter the genre! I am always excited when I know she has a new release, because I know she will always exceed my expectations!
Ms. McNamee is one of my favourite authors and her work is on my one-click, don’t-even-have-to-read-the-blurb or see the cover, or even know anything about it, list because I know what ever she writes, I am going to love. I would recommend her to be on everyone’s must read list, because her work is always on point, her imagination knows no bounds and her writing skills are exceptional. I cannot recommend her, or her work, highly enough!!
I really can’t wait for “Beaver Blunder”, Book Three in The Slip Series. If the title is anything to go by, it’s set to be hilarious!
A fun, light-hearted and sexy read!

Thank You, Ms. McNamee!

Knights Who Stole My Heart (Knights Series Book #2) by Sonya Jesus – Review by Angela Hayes

Knights Who Stole My Heart (Knights, #2)Knights Who Stole My Heart by Sonya Jesus
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Knights Who Stole My Heart by Sonya Jesus is a romantic suspense, the second instalment and continuing story of Amelia and her ‘Knights”. The book has mystery, a drama, angst, danger, violence, sinister intent, a creepy (stalker) factor in the form of one of the characters, as well as some push-pull, obsession, intrigue, romance, and much more. I enjoyed the first book and this one was just as entertaining. It picks up from the first book, but this story digs a little deeper into the character’s emotional states and inner turmoil, as well as ramping up the suspense and delivering a few unexpected developments. This was both fascinating and frustrating all at the same time. Then add a few more “knights” into the picture, with interest in Amelia, and this story gets interesting. I was #TEAMROBBINS in the last book, but now I am also a little conflicted. I am hoping that the next book will make my choices easier.
As I discovered in the last book and again in this one- the author has a detailed, descriptive and strong style, she builds the intensity and tension really well, manoeuvring the plot subtly, creating lots of questions and anticipation. The author kept me guessing the whole way through.
This is a gripping story of obsession of the worst kind. Ms. Jesus built the tension and suspense beautifully. I was flipping the pages, immersed in the story and trying to figure out what we would find on every page, or around each corner.
Ms. Jesus is quite skilled when it comes to character development. All the characters were fully developed, interesting and complex.
This is my favourite of the two books, so far. I will definitely be reading the next book!

Thank you, Ms. Jesus!

Horrid (Seven Sisters of Silverleaf #1)Horrid by L.C. Ireland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“This is your curse until all is made right:
I’ll have my revenge at the stroke of midnight.
For once the moonlight touches your skin … I win.”

Horrid is the first book in the Fatal series by L.C Ireland. It is a wonderful fantasy- which is full of magic, witches, drama, and had a fairy-tale feel to it- with the authors unique spin. I loved this story and I am so glad that I took a chance on it because it exceeded any and all of my expectations.
Delta and her six sisters have been cursed by an evil witch- having lost a few of her sister’s already, Delta is next. She is determined not to give up without a fight and when a deal is proposed, Delta will need to decide if she is willing to pay the price for her and her sister’s lives/souls. What ensues is a high-stakes story, with a moral dilemma, good vs evil (and more), that makes for believable, light, and fun reading.
The story is really well written, with fully developed and quirky characters. There is a lot more to this story than first meets the eye, and I really enjoyed this journey. I would have liked to have read a longer and more in-depth version of this book. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the story, but finished it still wanting more…. so hopefully I will get my answers in the next instalment. I am quite excited to see what Ms. Ireland has in store for us in the next book!

Thank You, Ms. Ireland!

Open Season by Alisa Schindler – Review by Angela Hayes

Open SeasonOpen Season by Alisa Schindler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Open Season by Alisa Schindler is a really intriguing mystery- with a baseball/sports backdrop, drama, murder, betrayal, investigation, twists, intrigue, and romance. I had not read any of Ms. Schindler’s books before, but when this popped up on my recommended reads, I was intrigued by the blurb and the fact that the story was a little different, too.
The story revolves around the murder of the Little League coach and has a bit of a “whodunit” feel to it. The author writes a great mystery and kept me guessing the whole time. I couldn’t have predicted the twists and turns, or the final conclusion. The characters really make this story, they are all individual, well developed and interesting. There was a lot happening and a lot of information, which I felt was too much at times as a lot of it wasn’t pertinent to the storyline/mystery.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery, coupled with a baseball/sports aspect.

Thank you, Ms. Schindler!

Fighting to Win ( Rocky River Fighters Series Book #4) by Grace Brennan – Review by Angela Hayes

Fighting to Win (Rocky River Fighters #4)Fighting to Win by Grace Brennan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fighting to Win is the highly anticipated fourth book in the Rocky River Fighters Series by Grace Brennan. The books can be read as standalones, but I really recommend reading them all in their correct sequence to get the full benefit of the storyline. This is a fantastic paranormal/shifter romance with drama, suspense, danger, action, and of course a wonderful romance. I have been anticipating this books release for a while now, as I have been dying to read Ian’s story since meeting him back in book one. As expected from Ms. Brennan, this book is well written, with a great plot, superb story development and scene setting. The characters are completely believable- they’re fully realised individuals with complex personalities, who are interesting and endearing. We reunite with familiar characters as well as debut character/s, as this story plays out. As usual when reading a Grace Brennan book, I was captivated from beginning to end- flipping pages to find out what would happen next. This is my favourite of the series, so far.
Ian Gallagher is a single parent to his daughter Shelby. He is also the ‘leader’ and ‘pack’ leader of the Rocky River Fighters. When he goes to his daughter’s school to see her 3rd grade teacher, he is thrown by his reaction to Holly. It is extremely unexpected, especially after everything he’d been through. But Holly has endured more heartache than anyone ever should. She doesn’t want to experience anything like that ever again and won’t let anyone get close enough to cause her any pain. But he is willing to do what it takes to win her over. He just has to figure out a way to convince her that love is worth taking a risk for.
But, as unusual things begin to occur, and trouble appears, Ian will do everything he can to protect his mate, daughter, and ‘pack’. This becomes a suspenseful, race against time to get to the bottom of it all and protect those that he loves.
This is definitely the most suspenseful of the four books so far. And I loved the way Ms. Brennan brought all the threads together at the end.
I knew Ian’s story would be fantastic… It was definitely worth the wait till book four to find out! I can’t wait to see what Ms. Brennan brings us next!

Thank you, Ms. Brennan!

This is Meric and Lindy’s story, two people who aren’t perfect, just one of the reasons I love this author so very much…These two both dealing with their own issues made me fall in love with them just like every other character that this author writes about. She never shies away from letting these women be real and deal with real issues as far as their bodies are concerned..I can’t even begin to explain how refreshing that is.

I loved this story and the return of the characters from previous books was something I loved, they didn’t just make a quick appearance, they were part of the story. I fell in love also with Lindy’s parents and with the way Lindy treated her parents.

I just can’t say enough about how much I enjoy and look forward to reading this authors books. She is an absolute favorite of mine, I cant put into words what it is about the way the words flow but they do so beautifully. It seems I never have even one negative or drawback with any of her books, this one was a fun, quick read for me and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I will read everything this author writes.

Loved It!!

Beachcomber Investigations (Beachcomber Investigations #1)Beachcomber Investigations by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Investigations by Stephanie Queen is a romantic detective story and the first book in the Beachcomber Investigations Series. I really enjoyed this book as there was plenty of everything you could want in a story, from action and suspense, mystery and intrigue, romance and witty banter that will have you laughing out loud. Leave yourself plenty of time to read it because once you start, you won’t want to stop, until you have absorbed every last word, as you become entertained and lost in the world of these loveable heroes.

There are many lovable characters in these books but Dane and Shana are our main focus and the sexual tension is sizzling, with their love hate relationship and their own issues holding them back. Dane is ex special ops and a legend and certainly not looking for a partner. Shana is an Aussie surfer chick and ex-Scotland Yard detective. When their worlds collide sparks come flying and tortuous games begin as they go from case to case to catch the bad guys.

You won’t just fall in love with and be captivated by Dane and Shana, you will be just as drawn to the rest of their unruly gang of players as well. I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next books in the series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Broken is a hot like hell AND in a twisted way romantic short story. It is the first story I have read by the writer and he left me wanting … wanting to find out how Jake and Vickey’s story ends as this story is just a beginning … or at least I hope it is a beginning and the writer will give us more as the glimpses we got into Vickey’s past and Jake’s reality … oh boy, it really wets one’s appetite!
Even though the story is short, the characters are complex and both of them have a secret side to them and for sure they take us on a merry ride … and I have to say, I absolutely love the Britishness of the language the writer uses to tell the story … it makes me miss the good ole England! The story is peppered with hot sex scenes and I have to say that I did not care too much for the way how they were told, they felt a bit … hmmmm … forced …funny, right? They did fit the storyline and gave us more understanding of who Jake and Vickey are … Pick up a copy and I am sure you will join me in hoping that their story will continue!

Bound is Cleo’s journey into the world of dominance, it is filled with secrecy and intrigue and hatred and love and submission and everything that one has ever thought of the BDSM world. And then there is Marcus … a true Master … of the shadowed world reigned by rigid sets of rules of dominance though isn’t there an exception to every rule known to the man … Their story is like a maze and you are constantly left wondering if they do find a way out of it into the light, into the existence where they both blossom … remind yourself not to jump into conclusions and keep your fingers crossed …
In addition to Cleo and Marcus there is a number of other characters that keep you on your toes and make you wonder where their loyalties lie … we also meet once again characters from Shandi’s other stories and that is something that I have always loved about her books! Keep them coming! Cannot wait for her next story!

Sex, Blood, Rock ‘N’ Roll, and Vampyr (The Bloodline Trilogy Book #1) by K.M McFarland – Review by Angela Hayes

Sex, Blood, Rock 'N' Roll, and Vampyr (The Bloodline Trilogy, #1)Sex, Blood, Rock ‘N’ Roll, and Vampyr by K.M. McFarland
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sex, Blood, Rock ‘N’ Roll and Vampyr is the first book in the Bloodline Trilogy by K.M. McFarland. This is my first book by Ms. McFarland and I was interested to read her take on vampire lore. This is a paranormal, vampire/Rockstar story.
The characters were believable- well developed and complex- with their own unique personalities, quirks and flaws. But there are a lot of characters, and a lot of POV’s, which at times just complicated the storyline unnecessarily, causing confusion and a disruption to the flow. The erotic element was present, but what was there seemed a little rushed. This just added to the confusion for me.
From the blurb, I expected the story to be a little different from what was delivered. Don’t get me wrong, it is an interesting story that is well worth the read if you like a vampire story with a difference. I normally do too, but it just didn’t grab me like I was hoping. I will re-visit this book in a few weeks to see if I still feel the same way, or whether I just had an off day when I read it.
As this is the first book in a trilogy, I will definitely read the other books to see where the author takes us.

Thank you, Ms. McFarland!

JET Desert Storm by J.E Vassar – Review by Angela Hayes

JET Desert StormJET Desert Storm by J.E. Vassar
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Jet Desert Storm by J.E Vassar is another fast paced, action packed story that had me in its grip right off the bat. I enjoyed the first book Jet Ambushed, and really liked the character/s and wanted to see what the author had in store for them. I am happy to report that this book is even better than the first and is definitely my favourite of the two. I felt that this has more character development and depth to the story than in the first book. We get to see another side to Jet, even as the bullets fly. There are some emotional situations that crop up for Jet in this book, too- which pulled me further into the story and had me investing in the character/s and how the story would play out.
This book is a short, quick and easy read. There is plenty of action, suspense, drama, intrigue, spy games, terrorists, violence, and more. There is a lot going on in a short amount of space, but Ms. Vassar choreographs all the elements into a smooth-flowing read.
In this story, Jet must face off against her nemesis, Salina. There is, of course, a sinister plot, evil intent, terrorism, bullets and bodies- in this high stakes battle. As the action ramps up, the danger also intensifies and again it’s all on Jet to save the day. Will she find a way to thwart the terrorists before it’s too late? And if she does, at what cost?
Another great addition to the series, and I am looking forward to more!

Thank you, J.E Vassar!

Bound: Four Book Boxed Set by Shandi Boyes – Review by Angela Hayes

Bound: Four Book Boxed SetBound: Four Book Boxed Set by Shandi Boyes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Bound Box Set contains the complete collection (all four books) of the Bound series by Shandi Boyes. This is a superb, spellbinding series with everything you could ever ask for from a Rockstar/contemporary romance. There is a swoony, alpha type leading man and a beautiful, intelligent and hard-working leading lady- who set the pages of my book/s on fire. The stories have suspense, intrigue, drama, danger, excitement, BDSM, electrifying chemistry, wonderful characters, erotic situations, and so much more. Each book holds its own in the series, each one worthy of a five star. Be prepared to become addicted to the books, as well as Ms. Boyes bold, sexy and captivating style. I have read all of her books now, and she blows me away every single time. Just when I think that there is just no way she will be able to top the last book, she ups the ante and produces another gem! Her imagination and creativity know no bounds. She is one of my favourite authors, and her books are a one-click, sight unseen, instant purchase- because I just know whatever it is I will absolutely LOVE.
This collection is not only a great way to get a riveting read, but as it also contains the entire series, it represents fantastic value for money, as well as there having no wait between books. A real WIN-WIN if you ask me.
The Bound series is such a powerful story, and one I definitely won’t forget anytime soon- it is electrifying reading and had me hooked right from the first page. I expected that these books would be fantastic, because let’s face it, all of Ms. Boyes books are- but I was surprised by just how much this series burrowed its way under my skin and into my heart. I was, and am, completely invested in these characters and their passionate and somewhat tumultuous story. I couldn’t love two characters more that I love Cleo and Marcus. They are so beautifully crafted, and quite intricately detailed- from their appearances right through to the small nuances of their personalities. At first, they may seem worlds apart, but as we (and they) get to know each other it becomes more than apparent that they are perfect for each other, if only they could get out of their own way.
The last four years has been quite traumatic for Cleo Garcia on many levels- personally, professionally and financially- she has had intense personal heartache, as well as seen her career soar to a top-level position, before plunging right back down to the bottom of the ladder. When an opportunity presents itself to regain a top position with the media company she works for, as well as benefit from some added bonuses, and increase her income dramatically- Cleo jumps at the chance- even if she is a little dubious about what she is expected to do. She knows that this will be an intense investigation, but what she didn’t expect was to encounter a blast from the past, who then introduces her to a world and experiences she could never have imagined. It all has to be too good to be true, right?
Follow along as this incredible story unfolds, through all the highs and lows, heartache, bliss, secrets, hidden agendas, surprises, twists and turns. The story will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride that will leave an impression that will be hard to forget.
You really need to read this series and unearth all the exquisite details for yourself, you really won’t regret it.
This Box Set contains:
-Chains
-Links
-Bound
-Restrained

If this author isn’t on your ‘must-read-author’ list, then she really should be- because you are missing out on some incredible reading.

I can’t wait to see what Ms. Boyes has in store for us next!

Thank you, Ms. Boyes!

Scotland Yard Exchange Romantic Suspense: The Complete 5 Book Series

By Stephanie Queen

5 Stars

I’ve read many of this authors other books, The Beachcomber Investigations series is actually one of my favorites. Reading this series of books takes me back to before Beachcombers and then it ended with the beginning of that series. I love this author and I love her stories, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…Everything this author does would make a killer television series…One that I would love to watch. Reading all of these had me laughing out loud at many parts and then biting my nails wondering what was going to happen the next. She places twists and turns where you don’t expect them and you never completely have anything figured out till you are done reading.

The books flowed together creating one huge story, but what is so cool about the way she writes them is each one could actually be read as a standalone, although I wouldn’t recommend that because each is so so good and you’d be missing out on some history of these characters.

So to sum it all up…Read these, then move on to the Beachcombers series and then move on to absolutely anything this author writes..She is an absolute favorite of mine and I can’t wait for a quiet weekend with no plans so I can sit down and read every one of these again in order, back to back.

Awesome!!!

A God of Gods (Dreams of Chaos Series Book #3) by Ashley Chappell – Review by Angela Hayes

A God of Gods (Dreams of Chaos, #3)A God of Gods by Ashley Chappell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

God of Gods is the third book in the Dreams of Chaos series by Ashley Chappell. It is a Young Adult fantasy packed with action, adventure, mythology, magic, gods, mystical creatures, different realms/worlds… and so much more.
Trotter is struggling with her destiny. This book sees her having to make difficult choices and managing huge responsibilities. Once again, she is caught up in life and death situations that will test her like never before. This is a high stakes adventure that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens and there is so much going on in this book- it’s an adventure from start to finish.
I thought this story was even darker and a much more of a mature read than the first two books, which I really like. Again, Ms. Chappell did a great job creating a rich and unique world(s), and building wonderful backstory, myths and in-depth lore around this imaginative tale. Her storytelling is creative, imaginative, detailed and descriptive.
The character development is quite good, the story abounds with interesting, unique and quirky characters.
Great addition to the series!

Thank you, Ms. Chappell!

Honor On the Cape (Cape Van Buren Series Book #2) by M.K. Meredith – Review by Angela Hayes

Honor on the Cape (Cape Van Buren: On the Cape #2)Honor on the Cape by M.K. Meredith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Honor On The Cape is the second book in the Cape Van Buren Series by MK Meredith. It is a beautiful contemporary romance that is packed full of emotion, spice and romance. Having read the first book, I was really happy to find that this book was available, and I hoped that it would grab me as much as book one did. I really enjoyed this book and it is every bit as good as the first.
Blayne and James (Jay) were such great characters. I was intrigued by their situation right from the beginning and had to find out how their story would end. They have history, a painful past that has affected them both over the years. Now they find that they will be working on the same project together. Will they be able to put their pain and past aside to get the job done? Or will memories of the past be too hard to deal with? Will old feelings resurface and the spark they once shared be reignited? Will Blayne return home, or will she find a reason to stay? You really should read this wonderful story and find out all the wonderful details for yourself! You are sure to love it too!
As with the previous book- I loved everything about this- from the amazing story that is so full of feeling; to the wonderful characters that stole my heart and drew me into their story; to the beautiful setting in which the author placed her story and which the author described in such detail that I was transported there alongside the characters; and then add the authors bold, vivid and sexy style and I was completely captivated and couldn’t put the book down.
I will definitely be reading her next book!

Thank you Ms. Meredith!

Bound (Magnus Blackwell Series Book #2) by Alexandrea Weis and Lucas Astor – Review by Angela Hayes

Bound (Magnus Blackwell, #2)Bound by Alexandrea Weis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Bound is the third instalment (Book #2) in the Magnus Blackwell series by Alexandrea Weis with Lucas Astor- and comes after the prequel Blackwell (Book #0.5) and Damned (Book #1). I have been riveted by this exceptional series, and have loved every single moment exploring each page. After the previous superb instalment, I couldn’t wait to continue the story, and had so much expectation and anticipation for this book. After devouring this book in an afternoon, I am excited to say that the authors didn’t let me down and met all my expectations, and then some! I really couldn’t have loved this book more. It is full of thrilling mystery, suspense, drama, the supernatural, intensity, good vs evil, light vs dark- voodoo, ghosts, and magic.
This book jumps right into the story. A lot has happened since Lexie discovered the dragon cane. She is still coming to terms with the events of the last book- as well as her new position of Mambo and the doubts and responsibilities that come with that, her marriage to Will, her business, and trying to bring some balance into her life. Magnus and her have come to terms with their situation, their connection is strong and they have an appreciation for one another.
Strange things begin to happen and there seems to be a shift in the universal energy- bringing a sense of foreboding of events are about to happen that threaten to disrupt all of life in New Orleans and the spiritual universe. There is a sinister force with an evil agenda that will test Lexie and Magnus like nothing they could ever imagine. The city, the people, her friends and family, and even the dead won’t be safe from this threat and Lexie will need to figure it all out before it’s too late. But with her powers vanishing she will need to explore every possibility in order to defeat the darkness. Lexie takes her job as Mambo very seriously, and there is nothing she wouldn’t do to protect the people, city and the ‘family’ that she loves so much. Will she find a way to restore the balance of the universe? And if she does, at what cost? Her relationship with Magnus will be tested too, as he deals with his past- Lexie knows he isn’t telling her everything and wonders if she can trust and rely on him still. Will their bond survive, or will the darkness destroy it too?
I cannot recommend this book, series and authors enough! If you like paranormal elements in a riveting read, then this is definitely the book for you!!!
This is such an exceptional tale, incredibly well written- the product of very talented storytellers. The writing is compelling, polished, descriptive and exquisitely detailed.
I loved everything about this book- but you really should read it for yourself, as you are sure to love it just as much as I did. But, if you haven’t read the other two books yet, I recommend that you do, to get all the brilliant backstory, details, and character information that they contain, will really elevate your reading experience of this book.
Bring on the next book!
Bellissimo!

Thank you, Ms. Weis and Mr. Astor!
