Movie Star (21st Century Courtesan Book 2) by Pamela DuMond – Review by Karyn Taylor

Movie Star (21st Century Courtesan, #2)Movie Star by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Movie Star is the 2nd book in the 21st Century Courtesan series by Pamela DuMond. I would definitely recommend reading the first book, Player, before reading this one. It can be read as a stand-alone but the story will make more sense if you have read the first book.
Movie Star continues on from where Player left off and like Player it just stops at the end leaving you screaming WTF!! Why does Pamela DuMond do this to us? In this book Evie is hired to work with top actor Jake Keller who is losing all interest in his work and pulling away from everyone. It’s Evie’s job, as an empath, to find out what is causing Jake to pull away and to heal him.
Breaking down Jake’s walls isn’t easy and when you finally discover why, it is heart-breaking. Pamela DuMond deals with this issue fantastically and with sensitivity.
As with the first book, there are other subplots going on too. We get more of her dealings with Easton Wolff, one of the brothers who her mother ran over when they were teenagers. We also get more of her mother’s story, her mother who has been receiving psychiatric help since this incident years ago.
I really enjoyed this book, more so than the first book in the series. Evie is a wonderful, compelling character and I look forward to see what the author has in store for her in the next 2 books in this series.
